Interesting reports that we have turned down multiple offers for Maguire and that it is likely he will extend his contract at the end of next season to retire at United.

Didn’t see that one coming?

Disaster sell him for any price, he's usless, 33 and on 190 grand a week, no brainer!

I think that it’s obvious that he’s a positive figure in the dressing room, and is best suited to a back 3. I have no problem with Maguire staying at the club on reduced wages. His transfer fee was ridiculous, but his attitude has always been professional, unlike so many players at the club over the past decade.

REDCON, I bow before your incredible knowledge and insight. RA and the club rate him but they should listen to you, font of all footballing knowledge.

If every member of the dressing eoom in his time here were as committed and gave the club as much as Harry did we would be in a much better place.

He has many critics he has endured much abuse but i have never thought he has given us less than his all.

I've been as critical as anyone about Harry Maguire, I said the year before we signed him that I didn't want him or thought he was good enough. Yet to be fair to him his attitude has always been first class, and while he has his limitations, in a back three they aren't as evident as they are in a back four.

At 32 he isn't a long term answer, but as a solid squad option I don't see a problem with keeping him. Especially with so many inexperienced players in our defence.

Can't get rid of him this season. We need his experience with all the youngsters coming into the back line. Replacing him with someone better would be very expensive, which is why his contract was extended in the first place. Priorities are elsewhere.

New name

Yes, Yoro and Heaven plus the lad they have signed from Southampton who is likely a couple of years behind are young. We also have several young CB so experience is valuable. Harry has the right attitude, is that worth his salary?, management seem to think so. Johnny Evans offered experience and Harry may help.

Maguire is obviously well respected by the club, coaches and other players. He is part of the 6 player leadership group helping to instil the improved standards.

We could argue his salary is not justified for what we get player wise but for another transition year I am happy with him as part of the back 3 rotation.

Did ye not see him last season, he is a born right winger. on a serious note, at least he has a good attitude and doesn't go crying to the media with the going gets tuff.

He may have a good attitude etc, but he is an average CB. His professionalism has been exemplary. This is why I think he will have his contract extended on reduced terms.

Thank you Leahy for reminding me of Harrydiniho.

Maguire hasn't really let utd down, never complained when out of side and fought his way back in. Showed really good character after the media personal attacks on him and in a back 3 he's solid. For me its a no brainer adding another year.

He deserves the keys to the city after the goal against Lyon.

Great attitude, but nowhere near good enough. We can’t be keeping players around just because they’re well liked in the dressing room. Guehi is reportedly available for £30-40m and is far more of a leader than Maguire, not to mention younger and a more capable defender.

CDM, GK, and RB are probably higher priorities at this point, but if we could somehow get £15-20m for Maguire, I’d be very tempted by Guehi at the prices being quoted. Martinez and Shaw will probably spend most of next season injured, so we only really have De Ligt, Mazraoui, Heaven, and Yoro for those three CB slots. After that, we’re forced to play Maguire.

Been vocal, hate him as a player at UTD.
Can I stomach him for one more year, yes.
If a reasonable offer came in for him should we take it, probably
Do I want the club to offer him an extension, no way.
He has had his time, and when possible, we should part ways.

Maguire was never the player we needed, and we never should have paid the transfer fee or wages we have on him.

That said, got to respect his attitude, especially after the amount of stick he's taken in his time at the club. As others have said, as a squad player, and an influence in the dressing room, I don't hate him being at the club, even if I would prefer his wages being a touch lower.

He's had a few moments of pure gold, and when he does eventually go, I'll remember him fondly for those!
