No you sre right bolger. CV or no CV, he is godsent. Best thing since even before sliced bread.

2 points more than what Moyes managed, 4 points less than what we manager in LvGs first season, same as LvGs second season when he got the sack, 3points less than Jose's first season where we won Europa and Carling cup, 15 points worse off that Jose's second season, same points as last season and all this when in everyones opinion we got the best signings this season since van Persie.

Hey but still we finished 3rd, got humiliated in the semis by Chelsea who also had a rookie manager and had a transfer ban. So yeah Ole is a god sent.

Shan, it's official now. Ole is the third best manager in the EPL this season. Fact😘.

Way too much hate for Ole. He is not a good manager, he doesn't make the right substitutes sometimes, he runs players to the ground. But he did get us top 3.
There is a lot of cleaning up to do and he's pushed quite a few out.

Smalling is almost sold.

Sanchez is out, who Jose kept on playing repeatedly who have one rubbish performance after another.

Lukaku is out, who had the worst touch and was guilty of missing so many chances against big teams and having teribble hold up given his stature. Martial is twice the player Lukaku is.

Jones never plays, Rojo is going to leave.
Greenwood never gets as many goals he got under Jose.

Pereira and Lingard are not starting.

Do you really think we have anyone apart from the first XI who actually improves the team? I don't think so, maybe GK but no one. That first XI bar Shaw is the best out of our squad.

It is a squad game, and I would say chelsea have a much more rounded squad than us barring GK. We are still 4-5 quality players away from the title, one RW, one player like Grealish who play attacking mid or LW, one holding (Declan Rice), a left back and a centre back away.

How is he 3rd best manager? Based on money to position ratio he would be the worst. Just because you come 3rd doesn't mean a thing.

Usually looking at other sides views on something opens your eyes. Every Liverpool fan wants us to keep Ole and let him spend spend spend. that's how highly they value him being our manager.

We will see anyway where we are next season when everyones chewing wasps because of how poorly we have done.

Wow. You'd think with some of the posts we'd had an atrocious end to the season and finished next to Arsenal.

There are surely times to be negative? Such as when we are massively underachieving by sitting 14th in the table or getting humped by Burnley at Old Trafford? I was at that point and I feel fans had every right to be.

I'm not Ole's biggest fan, I still have plenty of concerns about him as a coach but there is no denying the squad is in better shape than it was 18 months ago, the players look happier and some of the performances have actually been good to watch. When was the last time you genuinely enjoyed watching a United side? It's hard to argue with finishing 3rd even if other sides have dropped off. So from someone who was feeling very negative about the direction of the club at the start of the year and felt Ole didn't get much out of the players, over the last few months I've gradually become more positive. That's not through anything other than watching the team develop, players showing improvement and starting to win games the level of squad we have should be winning.

To those who are still massively unhappy and feel he should immediately be sacked, dragged out by the feet and fed to pigeons, what would it take for you to feel the club is heading in the right direction?

9.) 27 Jul 2020
27 Jul 2020 11:16:48
Where is the hatred guys? What do you compare things to? I just did a year on year comparison with the points each season. We stood 3rd because Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs imploded or had issues. They had one off seasons where they did not achieve their targets. 66 points is nothing to be proud of or have the goal posts shifted because its Ole?

What direction is it that we are heading? We are still at 66 points, same as last season when half of last season was under mourinho.

There is no hatred, its just perspective on how you view things.

10.) 27 Jul 2020
27 Jul 2020 11:32:59
Shan, where did you expect United to finish this season?

11.) 27 Jul 2020
27 Jul 2020 11:47:25
On an average season, 66 points has us somewhere around 6th or 7th. Its now imperative that we don't sit on the third place laurels and kick on. 66 points next season and its Europa League again.

12.) 27 Jul 2020
27 Jul 2020 12:08:54
Agreed, if we finish with the same points next season we'd be in the Europa League as we can't expect others to have the seasons they have had again.

It took Klopp time and money to get Liverpool sorted, it took Pep time and money to get City sorted. Funnily enough it looks like Lampard is getting time and money to try to get Chelsea back to the top.

The positives for us would be, we have the youngest squad in the league, CL football, plenty of money to invest in the transfer market, our best players all look as though they are staying and continuing to improve.

13.) 27 Jul 2020
27 Jul 2020 12:53:55
Considering where we were on December. This was the best we could do and despite Leicester's capitulation, united as a team could only handle what they could and they got there and over exceeded in my opinion. Congrats has to go to Ole and the team for that.

14.) 27 Jul 2020
27 Jul 2020 13:21:10
It took Klopp money and time to get Liverpool sorted but they were in a far worst position than we are and they changed all the first eleven.

Can you say that in order to compete we must change all our players? I would don't think so. It didn't took much time for Pep, from day one they were dominant and played well, but in the first season weren't effective.

15.) 27 Jul 2020
27 Jul 2020 13:28:07
League table doesn't lie .
There is a lot of variations to a season .
We could get 76 points and finish 5th next season and the people complaining out getting 66 points would complain we where 5th .

16.) 27 Jul 2020
27 Jul 2020 13:47:48
In order to compete we pretty much have changed a lot of our players.

We've signed AWB, Maguire, Ighalo, Bruno and James. Potentially looking to add two or three more this window.

We've promoted Greenwood, Williams, McTominay (granted he started under Jose) and Tuanzebe (though hasn't been fit) .

Over the past 18 months we've got rid of / loaned out Young, Fellaini, Lukaku, Sanchez, Rojo, Smalling, Valencia and a few others. Also eased Lingard, Jones, Pereira, Mata and others out of the team more recently. So I'd the say the evidence shows we did need to change a big part of the squad in order to compete.

17.) 27 Jul 2020
27 Jul 2020 15:16:55
Yes Rjmanutd but i speak about now. So we are in a better position than Liverpool was when Klopp took over.

18.) 27 Jul 2020
27 Jul 2020 16:38:52
"We stood 3rd because Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs imploded or had issues".

That suggests we had none. I suppose we're not counting trying to instill some belief in a side undermined by their previous manager, long-term injuries to Pogba, Rushford and Martial, no natural wingers in our team, a threadbare squad lacking any real quality outside the first XI, and no creative midfielder for half a season.

Issues like that?

{Ed047's Note - aside from being in the Champions league I would suggest finish below the top two this year is pretty much nothing to shout about what ever way you cut it Nou.

You are officially best of the piss poor rest and that really is it.

19.) 27 Jul 2020
27 Jul 2020 14:42:51
We needed to change a big part of the squad to play a different style of football .

20.) 27 Jul 2020
27 Jul 2020 17:37:36
Stevie, i am not undermining our issues. Injuries are part and parcel of the game. Liverpool were without Mane, Salah and Allison for large parts. Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs were all 70 and above last year while we were 66. Chelsea had a ban, Arsenal changed their manager and Spurs imploded. All the above have gone down this year and we are still. So that means others have worsened and not that we have improved. People are quickly giving that we finished 3rd given where we were in January. Wasnt Ole the manager before January?

21.) 27 Jul 2020
27 Jul 2020 20:06:15
Mane played 35 games, was the large part he missed the 3 months of lockdown?

22.) 27 Jul 2020

Do points matter more than league position now? Best let the United squad of 96/ 97 know that their league medal isn’t worth as much as the others (I had to google this stat - we won it with a mere 75 points so we are only 9 behind winning the league! )

Ignoring the point difference between a draw and a win, there are only so many points available in a season. If one team smashes records, there will be fewer points to go round to everyone else. So if it’s a close league then there will be lower points at the top.

Either way Shan, your insistence of spinning everything into a negative is starting to become insufferable. Everyone on here wants us to win the league, everyone wants us to win trophies. But 3rd place is better than 5th, which is better than 14th. It’s all about perspective. I don’t know if you’ve ever said, but do you actually want ole to succeed?
