Think it's laughable and totally hypocritical people on here saying they don't care if Ronaldo goes to city and will still see him as a legend of this club. A player who wanted to leave us for his peak and will now go to our same city rivals.
Yet those same people will call our manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer every name in the book, treat him with the utmost disrespect, question him in every possible way, his managerial standard, his communication, transfers, coaching, in game management even whether he is a legend at our club.
I just don't get this perspective but I don't really get about 85% of people so I'm not surprised here is just a microcosm of the world.

I personally won't be happy seeing Ronaldo in a City shirt.
If he moved to Chelsea, I would be okay.
The difference is that Ronaldo was a legend for those few years, and seeing him in City colours is going really hard. Because there were times, I genuinely felt he would come back and play for us, and I would still welcome him as he'll be the best player in the team.

This is validation that CR7 sees City as the best bet for another PL Title. He may be past his best but will still be a deciding factor in the honours destination again if he signs for the blues.

Just another example of player and agent power. We are building for the future so I don't think its any great loss.

1. he isn't doing a tevez and going from us to them. he's had 2 clubs and several years in between.

2. i don't think its a case of not caring its just not worth throwing your toys out of your pram about

3. he's 36, he spends a year maybe 2 wins a few trophies that they would win anyway and he leaves. we are trying to build a youthful team for the future not build a team around someone with a year or 2 left at the higest level

id only be upset if he won the UCL with them as i don't want to see them ever win it.

Rosspique,

Most if not everyone do respect Ole's contributions as a player but not quite as a manager for obvious reasons.

However, I don't like the name-calling that does happen over here.

I’m not sure I ever saw Ronaldo as a United legend to be honest. That said, I’d hate to see him go to City because he is one of the best players in the world. It sounds like we turned down the chance to sign him though, so I’m not sure how anyone can complain. Well, about Ronaldo signing for City, that is. The club’s decision not to resign him, on the other hand, is a matter for debate. He could certainly do a job for us over the next two seasons.

Btw I will support Ronaldo either way. He's not Manchester born and bred, I don't expect from him what I do of rashford etc.
And I support the manager fully, he's turning my club around to something which I at least recognise. Although I do expect a trophy to be needed this season.

Maybe Ronnie will come home tho, stranger things have happened.

A player who has always used us as a bargaining tool for a better contract it would appear as well.

I'd be gutted if he went to City to be honest, but I'm gutted when they buy most players to be honest. I certainly wouldn't want United to sign Ronaldo from a football point of view as I'm not sure that's the right thing to do for a club who should be looking to move forward however I would love it, love it if he turned round today and says he is signing for us purely to see the Man City fans reaction after I imagine they believe is a done and dusted deal.

Ross - Controversially I’m not that bothered about Ronaldo joining City!

Will he tarnish his legacy……. possibly in some supporters eyes but in all honesty Ronaldo isn’t to blame for our incompetence over the last decade.

He’s absolutely ruthless, a winner, he wants to be the most successful player in history. He’s a single minded, driven professional.

At 36 he has more chance of winning the Champions League with City than Juve.

You’ve got to admire his mentality really. It’s something we definitely lack in our squad!

I feel lucky I got to watch him in his prime at Old Trafford. I was there when he scored that thunderbolt in Porto. I was there when he scored that header in Moscow. Amazing memories that in my mind will never be diminished.

Dennis Law relegated us only a few years after our greatest triumph.

Cherish the good times, let go of the hate and understand that players are professional athletes not fans.

I am in agreement with redseven tbh I never saw him as a legend but a good, on occasion great player. When he came he was a spotty showboating kid and it took 3 seasons to break into double figures in goals. The last 3 he improved his goals massively reaching his best in the season he he left to become a worl class act in terms of numbers and titlesetc. Good luck to whatever he decides to do but he single handedly won't win trophies and at city, if he goes, he will simply take the place of probably a good player anyway until he flees to usa.
I wouldn't rule man utd out totally as anything could happen especially if Juve show interest in PP- now that would be a deal!

DLIB, Denis Law did not relegate us. Results elsewhere meant that we were already down.

Denis Law is a legend, part of the Holy Trinity, a man associated with our club for so many years. Ronaldo is about Ronaldo, he did the business for us for a few seasons but has always been about Ronaldo. The wailing and gnashing of teeth on here is amazing, he came, he played, he left, really not sure why everyone is so upset.

Agree with most of the comments above however most seem to miss my point.
The respect that is given to some ex players like Ronaldo, who probably is not very loyal to his United fanbase Vs the respect that is given to our manager.

Ross our views are polar opposite. I see ole destroying the expectation and mentality of the club. So as you say it takes all views.
Let's see how he does now he has topped 400m spend plus the new contracts awarded to Jones matic mata grant etc. I won't stop calling him to be sacked until he changes things significantly and makes huge improvements. i'm not expectant and don't have much hope either.

Oh I'm aware ken 🤣. I know you won't mind me saying you are one of the people I was thinking of when writing the post.

You're entitled to your opinion of course, as am I but as I say I find this view sometimes hypocritical and too personal an attack, you go after Oles character, whatever about possible short comings as manager which i think is so wrong of such a loyal servant yet would back people who may not have the loyalty he has.

I don't particularly like pogba but I don't see the point in going on about him every game unless he is not committed/ disloyal.

I'm p. ing into the wind but if you can't see our club is in a better position than under mourinho especially then what can I say. I'm as disappointed as anyone we didn't win the Europa but jeez.

Ole is a fraud and imo a complete Jerk I've zero respect for him as a manager. Zero.

See now I would say that's harsh and very much undeserved and I do think you should back the manager while they're there but again you're as entitled to your opinion as I am to mine.
