Have we matured in our transfer dealings this year? In years gone by we might have still been trying to pursue Kane, with our ex dynamic CEO flying around the world on urgent business.

We might not yet be perfect but seemingly going in the right direction.

I’ll reserve judgment u til the window is over Grim. Right now, we’ve almost bought one player. Sold a couple of youngsters for less than peanuts, have a bloated squad we can’t move on yet, and need to find a solution for striker, GK, another midfielder and maybe defender.

Judging by the shocking incompetence of the goal keeping situation I would say it is same as it ever was.

If we sign onana and hoiland then definitely yes i would say. ambrabat and shipping out maguire and getting a new cb in and i would give him an A+. can't really ask for more.

I guess you can late deal in the window for Kane lol.

Eric - i'm crossing everything that once mount is confirmed we will let mctom, fred or vdb go
once we get a keeper we will hopefully not keep ddg hanging and again with defenders when we get one in the rest will move on- in the background hope we are working hard to get a striker or 2 with funds and income from sales. Then again we are man united so chances are we'll blow the budget on canteen catering equipment and call it a ground improvement.

I’m not sure we have fully progressed. There are signs we are getting there, but there’s still fundamental errors been made on a planning and execution level.

The striker issue for instance. We’ve known we’ve been in need of a world class centre forward for years. So players with the right profile should have been worked on well in advance of the point we are in critical need. Instead, all we’ve done is get loanee stop gaps who haven’t worked out at all. The goalkeeping situation is also farcical. They know what contract DDG is on, and when that contract is scheduled to end. They also know his age and also his drawbacks, especially given the current managers style of play. Replacements for these positions should be lined up way beforehand, so that if the case arises we are straight in there. Instead we go head first into a brick wall and then try and pick up the pieces.

The negotiations for any players are also painful. How is is that when City identify a player they go straight in and the deal gets done in an often timely manner. Whereas we’re making offer after offer. I get that things often aren’t as straightforward as we’d perhaps realise. But a slick recruitment team with good communicators should be getting the job done far quicker than what ours do.

So as we enter July we don’t have a GK and haven’t sold a single first team player. Business as usual I’d say!

Onana is a pipedream. We're looking at Brighton's third choice GK.

We haven’t progressed. It has been clear since Christmas that we lack a striker capable of scoring on a consistent basis. The club should have had a clear plan on who was available and within budget before the window opened. Instead, we’re getting offers knocked back for a young lad that is very much a gamble as the primary striker.

Add to that the goalkeeping farce and you have a club that either doesn’t have a plan or is incapable of executing their plan in a professional way.

Mount is, perhaps, an upgrade on Eriksen. But the key areas of concern in the squad have yet to be addressed. I would be very concerned that we risk slipping out of the top 4 next season.

{Ed002's Note - The club has plans for all of this.}

I think the club is in a much stronger position under the current group and especially EtH. We don't see all the work that goes on behind the scenes and unfortunately due to press interest, desire of fans for minute by minute updates we get lots of players linked who we either have no interest in or have only enquired about.

Mount for instance feels like a deal that previously would have dragged on longer and we paid more than we did.

Could we do better, yes. Will we do better, hopefully.

We unfortunately have a large number of holes to either fill or improve on so juggling the budget and sales is key. City have a squad that is league winning and in reality are either looking at replacing a player leaving/ aging or that one player who takes the up a level (Haaland) .

We are a few transfer windows away from that if we ever get there.

I'm sure they do have plans ed.

Putting a plan into action is totally different though and United give us no confidence.

I like the Sanchez rumour from Brighton. He’s a very good keeper, and would make an excellent No2 choice signing behind whoever we go for as our No1. Given Brighton have just signed another keeper, he’s surely available.

{Ed002's Note - Rob Sanchez (G) Newcastle provide an option for the Brighton player. Manchester United have been scouting him but have a preferred choice. Way down the list for Chelsea who also have a preferred choice. Spurs interest has now gone with them signing another.}

Sure people think it’s like football manager and you click a button and job done
I know nothing about transfers in or out but I’m sensible enough to know they won’t be easy to do .

Why a pipedream? He's is clearly a major target.

There is a large gap in valuation GDS2, but don't get me wrong I'd love him at Utd from from I've seen. Really charismatic and commanding GK.

Its normal stuff guys. club is working within a budget and a plan. I do realize its frustrating and ideally we would have 5 guys signed and 5 out by now but its not that simple I am assuming.

Are we going to get the ideal signings in every position? No as you need an unlimited budget, players being available and wanting to come.

Doesn't sound like we are that far off. we offered 50m euro, they want 60m euro sounds like a meet in the middle at 55m euro sitch to me. also Sanchez is a quality keeper, not sure why that hate on him haha.
