ICYMI
The 1958 group supporters due to meet at the Tollgate hostelry in Stretford at 11am before marching to Old Trafford at 2pm.

Those involved asked not to attend the game until 3.17pm - a minute for each year the Glazers have been proprietors.

AlexJames

1.) 12 Apr 2022 08:11:31
Why bother going to the game at all? You're just wasting your time and money.

Surely you have something better to do with your Saturday afternoon than turn up late for what we already know will be a terrible game of football between two poor sides.

2.) 12 Apr 2022 08:20:56
I am all for supporters being able to express their dissatisfaction in any way they want. Personally, Never been a supporter of not attending. The players have nothing to do with the owners. And not turning up at all would send a message to them that their performances and attitude is unacceptable.

Paying for match tickets, then not showing up, will not harm the owners pockets which is the only place to hurt them. I don’t buy into the fact they don’t want success on the field as this equates to profit.

Also, whilst we are in the middle of negotiating for one of the best up and coming managers in the game, supporter unrest might just be the final persuasion he needs to stick around at Ajax for a year or two more and avoid our poisonous atmosphere.

3.) 12 Apr 2022 08:32:41
Will the protests really have any impact? Last time fans tried it they only managed to postpone a game and mess up the schedule but had absolutely no impact on how we have been run and how the team has played since then.

4.) 12 Apr 2022 09:57:07
While the ownership is ultimately responsible for the mess we are in, the performances on the pitch are down to the players.

Surely a better protest to the terrible performances we are seeing would be to unfollow and stop supporting the players on social media, and to go to the games and boo the players for 90 minutes. Make the game as uncomfortable for them as how miserable they make it for us.

Yes the club has been poorly run, but what we are seeing in the pitch is a total lack of respect for the fans. The bare minimum is you turn up and give it 100%, if it doesn't work then fine. But to earn millions from fan support and to pay it back with half arsed performances is unacceptable. That's on the players no one else. So make them suffer.

5.) 12 Apr 2022 11:15:50
Shappy, this is exactly what I posted months ago. The fans should go to the matches and voice their displeasure with the players. When pogba, lingard, Shaw, awb, etc names are called, boo these players and show them it's not good enough.
Also, might be worth the whole fans in the stadium facing the wrong way at certain times in the game, to show our anger at the players displays.

6.) 12 Apr 2022 11:39:32
Stop giving them money. It’s the only way!

7.) 12 Apr 2022 11:43:51
The owners imo should hire competent decision makers with top football knowledge in charge.
This would inturn result in a better structure being created with good scouting/ recruitment team.

But, as long as we have bankers in charge, we will continue to give outrageous contracts to mercenaries with no passion for the club.

8.) 12 Apr 2022 20:05:28
I think football supporters are better at irony than outright hostility. Sarcastic cheering a successful pass, or when a player actually makes an effort and runs, or my all time favourite, 90min of "Your sh. and we know you are! "

Wonder if Ten Hag already has a list of those for the chop, or will he try and work with them. Hopefully RR has already told him who should go to save time.

9.) 13 Apr 2022 06:52:06
Some good points here! My problem is I can’t not go, I love my club and regardless of form or results the next time there is a home game me and the lad are up for it and buzzing again, ridiculous I know!

However protests are important whether you feel it’ll make little impact! Difficult who to aim them at currently because there’s so much wrong but I agree with shappy these players deserve to feel the brunt of something, they think they can treat us fans with total disrespect!

Saul Niguez on loan anybody? He didn't do anything at Chelsea but he would be an upgrade on our midfield.

AlexJames

1.) 23 Jan 2022 11:37:01
Simply no.

2.) 23 Jan 2022 11:53:25
He's lost his way a bit. He's made no impact at all at Chelsea, but then again they do have a tough midfield to break into.

3.) 23 Jan 2022 12:14:15
Spenno, I'm not sure what happened to him. A couple of years ago he was one of the best midfielders in the world, and was certainly playing better and more consistently and a higher level than either of Jorginho or Kovacic. While now he's struggling to get ahead of Loftus-Cheek and Barkley.

Is it a case of him excelling in Simeone's system/ style of play, but struggling elsewhere. Maybe, but then he has always been pretty good for the Spanish national team that plays in a very different way to Atletico Madrid.

I wonder if him getting a 9 year contract at Atletico meant he got too comfortable and lost some drive.

Either way, with how he's playing right now I think he'd have a similar impact as Falcao. Big name signing who would then struggle and ultimately be underwhelming.

We need to start building towards the future, and I don't see Saul as part of that. Best look elsewhere for a quality, young CDM who can become a key part of our midfield for the next 5-10 years.

4.) 23 Jan 2022 12:20:17
“Rice and Saul both have the ability and intelligence to play a holding role, yet I get the feeling both are capable of much more. I'm not sure either really have the passing range for a deep lying playmaker sort of role, Saul maybe, but definitely not Rice. While both seem comfortable driving with the ball and playing further up the pitch. Maybe a pure holding role would be a little restrictive for them. Both could do the role for us and would excel at it though if signed” (Shappy July 21).

So Shappy - 6 months ago Saul would “excel” for MU? Has Saul really deteriorated that much?

This is what Maze means. Much fanfare one minute, then the player is cast aside the next. This was 5-6 months ago. Come on.

“Simply no”. Ok comrade.

5.) 23 Jan 2022 12:21:42
We dodged a bullet.
He has been atrocious at Chelsea.
Not sure why, but he seems to be afraid on the ball and bullied off it.

6.) 23 Jan 2022 13:46:05
Maze, simply 6 months ago Saul hadn't struggled with the pace of the EPL. I was basing that on his performances for Atletico, he hasn't been able to replicate those elsewhere.

While Manchester United are also in a very different position now to where we were 6 months ago. What we needed from a player to play for Ole in his style of play under his management is obviously going to be different to what we will need under our next permanent manager and that managers style of play. While it's safe to assume that we are at a start of another rebuild cycle.

Certainly the new manager will have very different ideas about how he will want the team to play and what players he will want to suit that style.

Also as a side note Rice's passing has looked much better this season. He looks like he's worked on it, or maybe the role Moyes is playing him in this season has allowed him to show it off more.

Some of us Maze have the ability to grow and develop, depending on what new information we see. Others get stuck in a rut, unable to move with the times, unprepared to have their views or understanding challenged and unable to synthesise that new information into what they already thought they knew.

7.) 23 Jan 2022 14:37:10
Lets be honest saul eould still walk into our team,

Olayers from la liga, germany france take time to settle

I would still take him over matic and fred.

{Ed004's Note - would like to hear Chelsea fans opinions on Saul over the last month or so. From the few times I have seen him recently he has played a lot better. Moved the ball a lot quicker etc}

8.) 23 Jan 2022 16:56:42
Ok Shappy. Give Maze a break. Maze knew you would provide some sort of lengthy post to justify a response.

5-6 months ago he would excel. Now he is not good enough. Keen to hear you views on Sancho - is he not good enough because he has been of the pace.

Need to stop building players up to tear them down moments later. Maze has many more examples but will not embarrass you.

9.) 23 Jan 2022 17:03:50
“Start of a new rebuild cycle” - behave. MU rebuilding since 2013.

“What we needed from a player to play for Ole in his style of play is obviously different to what we will need under the next permanent manger” - has the style changed that much?

So you think MU should not sign a single player this month as who knows about the next permanent manager? On other posts you are saying sign up x, y and z. Scrambled.

10.) 23 Jan 2022 20:38:47
Chelsea fan here. A quick note on Saul. His first few months in England were really bad. Haven't seen many performances from a PL midfielder that were as bad as what he put out in his first few starts. And to I think most people's surprise he didn't seem to improve.

But like Ed004 said up above, in recent weeks he's indeed looked a bit better. Now I'm not saying he looks anything like the super talent we saw at Atletico a few years ago, but he's connecting on passes more, playing them with more intent and urgency. He doesn't look as scared anymore to receive the ball, and seems much more at ease with the tempo. In particular in our 1st leg of the Carabao semi final vs Spurs he looked quite good.

Still don't see how he'd help your team. McTominay, Fred are definitely better than him, and I don't think he's a real upgrade on Matic. But at least he seems to have moved on from the "detriment to the team when he plays" category!

11.) 23 Jan 2022 20:39:55
Maze, Saul probably is good enough to get in our current side even in his current form. But that is more to do with the dire options we have over his own form.

Every player you sign is a risk, 6 months ago maybe he was a risk worth taking. But considering his wages and how poor he has been at Chelsea he might not be worth the gamble.

Like is said the club's situation has changed as well.

I think it is a risk to sign any player in January considering we'll have a new manager in the summer.

Some risks might be worth it, such as those who could be picked up for less than 10m as they have expiring contracts in the summer. We have to balance the risk between signing a player who the next manager might not want and leaving us short of quality to finish this season inside the top four. Which will obviously make signing the right players harder in the summer if we don't have UCL football.

Signing someone like Zakaria or Kamara might be the difference between finishing 4th or 5th. While signing them on the cheap means if the next manager doesn't want them then we could in theory sell them for a profit.

As for Sancho, he's young, has his best years ahead of him, and hasn't really had much of a chance yet. Let him settle and have a run of games and then let's see.

12.) 23 Jan 2022 21:11:41
The style has changed . We are trying to take control and the best example is against Ham. Some people can understand this from start and some not so clever maybe understand this when it is the finished article.
We needed more effective players under Ole but we need more team players under Rangnick (and i guess under the new manager as well) and that's the reason Bruno doesn't play like second striker any more but as a number 8.
As it seems you don't understand that a person can change his opinion when he realise he was wrong or informations change-so i am with Shappy in the continuing attacks. I don't like him but I respect him, at least more than a poster who usually give digs to anyone and think he is the smartest person in the room.

13.) 24 Jan 2022 06:27:37
Have a bit of pride in our team, Saul has been dreadful at Chelsea and I wouldn’t want him anywhere near our team!

Nice to see that Manchester United are supporting the local economy. We will need a lot more medical staff now with Cavani and Dembele.

1.) 04 Oct 2020 12:19:39
Wow, so funny, how did you even think of that joke?

04 Jan 2020 08:22:23
Calm before the storm on here today. Let's stoke the fire a bit. Who would bring Sanchez back when he has recovered in mid January and play him as a 10, instead of Lingard, Parrera and Mata?

AlexJames

1.) 04 Jan 2020 08:40:38
it would be nice to see a no 10 backpass it to fred :)

2.) 04 Jan 2020 08:41:59
No, let him go. He is paid far too much money. Let him be someone else's problem.

Perriera is the better out of the 3. Come the summer Mata and lingard both need to go. Mata is getting old and Lingard is very injury prone and ineffectual.
Perreira can play a few positions, he is decent but we can't sell all our midfielders as we won't have any left to play.

3.) 04 Jan 2020 09:06:05
Sanchez is the first signing in our history. His arrival unsettled Rashford and Martial, we paid him an absolute fortune, and he was worse than useless on the pitch. I'd rather bring Darren Gibson back.

4.) 04 Jan 2020 09:36:54
That should say worst signing.

5.) 04 Jan 2020 14:44:32
Agree with ajh.

6.) 04 Jan 2020 15:15:54
Agree with Ajh, Sanchez is another virus and must never wear a United shirt again.
I'd rather give Gomes a chance to impress, and I don't mean half an hour here or there, put him in for a good run and see where that gets us. And Grealish might be an excellent signing too.

{Ed002's Note - Gomes wants out and can now talk with other clubs directly.}

7.) 04 Jan 2020 16:59:49
What has Gomes done to suggest he should be our no 10? The few minutes he has played he looked rubbish. Same with Chong; all hair, no talent.

8.) 05 Jan 2020 10:48:43
Gomes leaving the sinking ship. Not sure Chong is great but with some decent direction (coaching) he may well turn out a good player.

Have we started doing our medical examinations on the NHS? This is the 8th time that Bruno Fernandes is supposed to be having a medical. He must be getting sick of all these cancellations.

Our new management team are doing such a great job. We start pre season without a first choice keeper. The season has started and we have not bought our DM and CB targets and we have not sold the players, who would have generated the most money.

AWB is an outstanding one on one defender, but the forwards get really poor service when AWB is playing. He is not the answer to the RB problem.

I think we should try Martial in the 10 position if we buy another striker. Parrera, Lingard amd Mata are not going to score enough goals.

I love the idea of this. But, we already have 4 players (Pogba, Parreira, Mata, lingard and Gomes) who's best position is as a 10.

If this were true, it would hopefully force the club into action and cash in, on some of the above players so that the money could be invested in weaker areas of the team. like RW, CB, DM and LB.

Wishful thinking maybe, but the current lack of quality of competition for their place in the squad, standard of the Europe league and growing with us to be good again, might be a selling point. Well, I can dream.

Murtough and co. might want to watch the Sevilla game from April last year, again, if they think that Maguire should stay for another season.

Wazza - it’s impossible to say the club aren’t delivering for this manager?

In january, the owners refused to spend any money, so we had to get two loan signings, but we still finished 3rd. The recruitment department failed to sell any players of value.

We are going to struggle to sell Martial. He is injured every 2 or 3 games.
