So at the midway point of the season we have Rashford on 15 goals, Martial on 10 goals and Greenwood on 8 goals. Assuming they score just as much in the second half of the season we could potentially have 30 goals, 20 goals and 16 goals for each of the forwards respectively. For me that is pretty decent considering we let Lukaku go without actually signing a replacement and for me also indicates that sometimes a little faith in the process isn't the worst thing. By no means am i saying that they will hit those projections but i think its entirely feasible. Its also the reason i think we should prioritise signing atleast 2 midfielders before we get to getting fussed about not signing Haaland.

Add Pogba who appears will be around until atleast the end of the season and 2 midfielders and i think our 2nd half of the season will be decent and I will be disappointed if we didn't win atleast one cup and finished top 4 which is the bare minimum really.

1.) 31 Dec 2019 12:41:21
Pogba might be around in body, but not in spirit.

The first half of the season has shown that he will not play if he thinks it could risk an injury that could cost him a move. He has never given his all for the club, and I doubt he will operate at more than half speed when he plays.

We desperately need another cm. McTom is injured, Matic isn’t wanted and wants out, and Pogba is focused on leaving.

2.) 31 Dec 2019 13:25:10
As the weaker clubs get wise to the way we play they will give us possession and drop deep denying us the ability to counter attack. Without this facility and without a central midfielder or two of real quality goals from Rashford and Martial will not be as plentiful. Even with midfielders of quality it's a big step in goals scored from the past few seasons. Even top strikers like Mane and Aguerro don't always get more than 25 to 30 in a season.

3.) 31 Dec 2019 18:51:48
Pogba played two games through injury which has kept him out for an extended period but go off.

08 Dec 2019 08:39:02
How good has Dan James been? When he came in i thought he would be a squad player at best turning out in the last few minutes, on the left wing. Probably playing for the reserves occasionally. And yet somehow he's come in slotted in seamlessly on the right side and has been one of our more consistent players all season. Goes to show that occasionally gems like him and Madison can be found in the lower leagues without having to pay extortionate fees.

Last night he kept putting in inviting balls in the six yard, the kind that CFs end up with tap ins.

Also credit to AWB last night he was immense, MOTM by a fair distance. Fred seems to have found his groove and McT is a bundle of energy, those two are developing a good understanding. Pity that Fred had to endure racist chants and projectiles from the home support.

Once AWB let's Sterling out his back pocket I am curious to see what he has to say about the incident seeing as he's previously asked for 9 point deductions for racist incidents.

Next few games are what other big teams call winnable but for us we never really can say for sure.

Also credit to Ole, he's come out of his most testing week yet smelling of roses.

1.) 08 Dec 2019 11:29:09
He has been great but he does need to stop falling over every time he is touched. He put us in trouble a couple of times yesterday when pushed off the ball. A few gym sessions might help.

2.) 08 Dec 2019 12:09:46
Tony, the important thing is to improve his core and not gain huge muscle mass. He needs to be stronger without gaining size as that will slow him down and make him less mobile.

I'm really impressed with how he is blossoming on the right hand side. Many players sulk when not played in their favoured position. He just gets on with it and works on being the best he can in whichever position he is played in.

Personally he is my favourite signing we made in the summer, even though I love AWB and feel he has more potential. James just has an infectious attitude and work rate. A player who seems to genuinely love playing for the club.

3.) 08 Dec 2019 12:46:38
Shaps, he’s been great and made that position his own, he just needs more physicality.

4.) 08 Dec 2019 13:28:43
Tony, it's a fine balance. He needs to be able to not be brushed off the ball so easily. Yet you need to build that up slowly so it doesn't impact his raw pace. It's his core he needs to build, extra muscle mass in his arms or legs will just slow him down.

Either way he has done a great job and has earned his place in the starting 11.

{Ed001's Note - extra muscle mass in his arms or legs will just slow him down? Have you ever seen a 100m sprinter? Muscle mass doesn't slow them down does it?}

5.) 08 Dec 2019 14:27:21
Ed001, Running for 10-12 seconds and running for 90 minutes are a world away. Have you ever seen a physically imposing marathon runner?

Sprinters have well defined leg muscles, but they need to be careful not to have excess muscle or that they build the muscle they do have too quickly. While arm muscles are also not about size.

Sprinters build up lean muscle as the bigger they are the more drag they create when sprinting which slows them down. It's also why sprinters tend to be shorter as the larger stride rate doesn't normally make up for the drag, while they tend to be less explosive due to having longer muscles.

In the past few years we have had players like Valencia and Lukaku who have suffered from a drop in top speed and acceleration due to building muscle mass. They also tired quicker due to carrying the additional weight which meant their endurance was effected and they struggled later on in games.

James doesn't need to get bigger, just more core strength which will make him harder to knock off the ball. His best asset is his pace and stamina, we shouldn't sacrifice any of that to make him physically stronger.

{Ed001's Note - what are you talking about? You should stop you are talking crap. Pace does not go from adding muscle mass, what the hell is marathon running to do with anything? How many pacey marathon runners do you know? Just stop before you make even more of an arse of yourself than you already have.

By the way, you are completely ignorant with your comments on Valencia. It was nothing to do with muscle mass that Valencia lost pace, it was injuries.

What the hell is tiring quicker got to do with anything? You ignorantly and falsely claimed muscle mass slowed down a player. Nothing to do with endurance or stamina, you were talking about pace. You were wrong. Just stop trying to twist the argument to totally unconnected things.

By the way, how many footballers do you know that run for 90 minutes? None of them do, the ball is not even in play for 60 minutes on average and they spend periods of the game walking or jogging.}

6.) 08 Dec 2019 15:20:58
I totally agree with ed here and adding muscles shouldn't slow u down and infact it should make u faster.

I think Shappy is confusing muscle with fat. 😂😂.

7.) 08 Dec 2019 16:24:19
Its ok you you wait for a week shappy will contradict himself and it will all be ok😂
I understand the thought process shappy. But you have it wrong.
There is muscle that can be put on as a footballer that can hinder movement flexability and durability but under the right professional regime that shouldn't happen or be allowed to happen.
The team at Carrington will know what suits his body and game best and strengthen those areas accordingly. Other players will be in their own individual programme designed specifically to their needs.
Rash has the near perfect physique for his game. He is developing very like ronaldo did at the same age.
He could do worse than have a word with his hero and commit himself to a simialar work ethic.

8.) 08 Dec 2019 17:06:28
1 word, Ronaldo.

9.) 09 Dec 2019 13:01:41
Best example would be ADAMA TRAORE, guy is a beast and his pace is scary.

25 Oct 2019 08:51:12
So, what did people make of last night's game? I thought we were a little disjointed in that formation and very vulnerable in defense which is strange considering the 3 central defenders, quite odd compared to the Liverpool game. I also think AWB should be tried as a right CB on this formation because he is very solid and physical in defence but offers little in attack. Dalot would be ideal, he can play RWB and Young/ Shaw/ Williams at LWB with Maguire, Lindelof and AWB in the centre.
Shout out James Garner who had a difficult match in a hostile environment but reasonably held his own. And Brandon Williams was MOTM no doubt even though he was a little suspect defensively.
Anyway its not all doom and gloom, roll on Sunday and let's see what we can do.

1.) 25 Oct 2019 09:01:57
The issue I have with this formation is that it can clearly work against a side who pose a threat and will have a lot of the ball naturally. We saw it work pretty well v Liverpool.

Last night we had 3 CB's on the pitch against a team which was clearly going to see little of the ball, in these type of games you want to pin the other team back so far that it's impossible for them to get out of their own half. You need to pack the midfield and wide areas so you have plenty of options in a crowded pitch. Chip away and find pockets of space where you'd hope the likes of Mata could then create chances from.

Essentially, playing 5 defenders just allows the opposition to attack you and we're not exactly the most confident team right now in defence. It seemed silly to just use the same formation as we used on the weekend because these are two very different opponents.

We're quite lucky they didn't score last night, because we looked like we couldn't even hit the target minus the penalty.

2.) 25 Oct 2019 10:00:36
We can't pack the midfield though as we don't have enough midfielder to do it.

3.) 25 Oct 2019 10:13:05
Very true Mort.

We've gone into this season with such a thin squad, should have saw this coming.

4.) 25 Oct 2019 11:50:02
positives from last night 3 points, garner finally getting a game and brandon williams who had a decent night and doesn't look fazed at all. other than the above it was a poor performance and we could of very easily conceded especially in the second half when romero was a busy man.

5.) 25 Oct 2019 11:55:43
3 CBs is fin assuming you have 3 decent CBs. Perhaps if wed played Harry, Lindelof and Tuanzebe, or as has been suggested used AW|B as he is pretty poor going forward.

I thought Williams was brilliant and Garner sis pretty well too. I'm enjoying seeing the B team playing int he Europa League, not sure why people are upset they didn't see free flowing attacking football, what did they expect. Let's give youth a chance and also bring injured players back. Williams had a great game and I saw enough from Garner to be positive about him, Martial got a game to gain fitness.

It wasn't great, we won, kept a clean sheet, top of the group.

6.) 25 Oct 2019 17:57:44
Williams was very good again garner was pretty average to be honest. In fact he was quite poor on the night imo. Big occasion for him he did not do himself justice. But he was in a team that was being outplayed and he had no snr players around him to turn too bar Mata who was even worse.

16 Jun 2018 13:20:57
Anyone watch the France game? I did and was watching the post match analysis and have to say, Pogba really cannot win. The whole freaking panel are in agreement that Pogba was the flop, despite getting the winner and creating the first goal. Not one word on Toliso who I really did not see once. Not to mention Griezmann who was inefective and Dembele who was non existent. Kante got a rating of 9/ 10, media darling😂.
Moment Matuidi came one I knew Pogba would get forward and have an impact. Poor game from france though.

{Ed004's Note - I have to agree 100% with this statement. This wasn't his best performance but he was still the only creative threat in that game. In the first half he was unfortunate not to play Mbappe through on goal and there were some other very nice passes to players like Griezmann. I thought he kept it simple, played some nice passes and defended well. There was even urgency in his pressing. That alone would be enough for most midfielders to get praise let alone the fact he played a massive part in both goals}

1.) 16 Jun 2018 14:02:15
Spot on unruly and ed I was thinking exactly the same thing. Pogba gets criticised for not keeping it simple when he tries a bit of magic, and then gets criticised for keeping it safe. It wasn’t one of his best performances but he was tidy in possession and influenced the game. It’s actually becoming a bit of an agenda to scapegoat pogba whenever he plays. He does get criticism because he is so so talented, but most of the time he is just an easy target.

I agree that Kante, griezmann and tolisso where all poor. It’s difficult for a midfielder to have an great game if the other two are playing poorly. Pogba cannot do it on his own. I read an interesting comment on twitter that the selection of the two full backs was poor by deschamps as they offered nothing going forward in comparison to sidibe and Mendy. It was like watching united this season. France have so much talent and I would have had them as favourites. But with deschamps in charge I cannot see them winning.

2.) 16 Jun 2018 14:06:32
He's getting more comment because he's the only one out of those you've mentioned, that plays in the Premiership. I thought he had a simple, average game. Maybe we expect more?

3.) 16 Jun 2018 14:17:03
France were average today as was pogba .
Panel talking about an English based player but also an on going issue with the form best position of pogba .
Pogba not been great for France for a good few games so it's more of an issue that griezmann and co having a bad day.

4.) 16 Jun 2018 14:34:26
Park, I actually thought the exact same thing watching that game, very much like United last season. Very good players not playing to their potential. Maybe it's something to do with the coach and tactics.

Jred I agree that Pogba hasn't been great for France, but today he made the difference. You would think they would at least acknowledge that fact. And this being the world cup the analysis should be of all players not just the Premier league players. And in any case Kante, Griezmann, Dembele, Theo, Mbappe etc all play for Clubs as big as Utd, why not criticize them? For the record am not saying Pogba had a stormer, just saying he was not the worst as is being made out to look.

5.) 16 Jun 2018 14:48:19
I think the main thing for pogba is that although he lines up on paper as a central midfielder, he really does spend most of his time on the left side of the pitch and whichever team he plays in gets lopsided with a left back, left winger and pogba.

Probably why he excelled at juve in 4-3-1-2 or 5-3-2 under conte and allegri when there was plenty of space for him. Something jose should consider with sanchez also looking to play centrally as well.

6.) 16 Jun 2018 16:09:39
Named Man of the Match by the BBC, so it's not all bad. Don't know who thought it would be a good idea to take Mark Lawrenson to Russia though.

7.) 16 Jun 2018 16:38:39
I like Lawro, he’s old school but gives good value for money. There’s some good pundits around right now. The Neville’s we both good although Phil says ‘actually’ every other word. Rio is class, Danny Murphy talks common sense, Jenas is good, Keane tells it how it is, Shearer is better now he has opinion no, Wrighty divides opinions but I love his innocent passion. I hated Townsend on the radio but really like him on the radio.

I struggle with Keown who is too earnest and Henry who is trying to be enigmatic like Eric but comes across as an arrogant knob, probably because he is an arrogant knob. And then there is Savage who is just amateur but keeps getting gigs. I know not why.

8.) 16 Jun 2018 16:46:27
Build up to the Denmark v Peru game, and what a shock, they're concentrating on Eriksson and Schmeichel. And now Nobby Solano's just walked in. I think we're looking for conspiracies and anti-utd bias, where it's not there. Lawrenson is a buffoon tho, I'll give you that.

9.) 16 Jun 2018 17:48:14
AJH, Lawro talks a lot of nonsense and I find him arrogant towards other cultures and the younger generation. His comment when asked about Russian food, "no comment", for a nation with a respectable cuisine, that is dismissive, especially coming from someone from a nation where food is questionable.

As for Henry, he's just very French, nothing to do with arrogance, but I remember during the Euros, on French TV, Petit and Leboeuf (and Lizarazu if I'm not mistaken) they were having a philosophical debate about football, talking about Camus and Sartre as though like it's normal. That would come across as arrogant in the UK, when it's just cultural normal in France, no one would bat an eyelid.

"He's getting more comment because he's the only one out of those you've mentioned, that plays in the Premiership", think Noucamp is forgetting Kante plays for Chelsea there.

10.) 16 Jun 2018 18:27:36
Ludwig, I was referring to the players mentioned by the poster, who disappointed in the game. Kante was his usual, busy, decent self.

11.) 16 Jun 2018 18:35:28
Ludwig, he’s not arrogant, he’s just old, he doesn’t understand the new rules. He’s the kind of bloke who still calls women ‘love’ but I like him, he’s straight forward and doesn’t shirk an opinion. As for Henry, it’s his manner that grates, he is condescending and talks like he is the oracle of all things football, which having listened to his punditry he really isn’t.

12.) 16 Jun 2018 19:51:46
Unruly. I watched the whole of the second half and pogba was the only player trying to create something. I thiught ge2had a good game.
Media are idiots as I've said many times before.

13.) 16 Jun 2018 19:59:57
Keown and Jenas are absolute twits, ITV pundits win hands down down me, bbc’s are really poor.

14.) 16 Jun 2018 20:33:48
Didn't rio call the Danes, Norwegians.

05 Jun 2018 20:59:23
For a reasonable signing on fee and relatively low wages, I wouldn't mind giving Yaya Toure a 1 year contract if both Fellaini and Ander leave coupled with Carrick retiring. Especially if we can't get Savic signed or any other midfield player.

I hope Fred hits the ground running, looking forward to watching him play for Brazil.

1.) 05 Jun 2018 21:38:03
Yaya? No no.

2.) 05 Jun 2018 22:07:22
Unruly very lazy and a backwards step 😆😆.

3.) 05 Jun 2018 22:26:52
But his agent said he would play for £1 a week. For £52 I would offer him a one year rolling contract HAHA. :)

And a 10% agents fee. HAHA

If only lol.

4.) 05 Jun 2018 23:48:49
He is now a has been a great player! He could probably still manage to do a good job in midfield, If he is managed and played correctly. I would like to sign him on a pay per play contract? Depending on his expected wage demands. Is it a good idea to pay him app 150k+ to play 15/ 20 min of a match? For me not so much but if he was deployed in some games to give matic etc a break then yes it would make sense

But only if we don't get our men or give the youth some game time.

5.) 06 Jun 2018 09:57:43
He struggles to run . He is a has been. Not good enough for City then not good enough for us😆😆.

As terrible as we are, you guys are worse! Talk about stones and glass houses now 😂.

{Ed047's Note - that’s my point mate, I’m not speaking from strength, I’m not putting you down because we’re better than you, I’m just stating what’s so obvious.

But there you go, making yourself feel better. 🤣

Happy new year mate. Looking forward to the game. What are your predictions?

Going for a 1-2 win for Utd.

I thought Lingard was pretty decent last night. Agree that we need a proper No.10 though.

Also we were playing against City, can't keep playing at the first half tempo for 90 mins so we had to retreat in the 2nd half. We defended really well and were only undone by a set piece.

Can't find fault in the tactics.

Beside Madrid, i don't think there's any other club with more press focus than Utd. With the press comes all kinds of pressure. If he couldn't cope with the expectations at Spurs, he won't at ManUtd.

No one should be told how to support their team.
However even if you do not like the manager, you won't change anything by whining like a little girl all day with the same tired bs. Myself I don't think he is the manager to take us back to the top, but that is not a drum i will insist on beating all day everyday because i know it won't change a thing.
