The people who were saying they don't care about prices we pay are now the ones moaning about Martial, don't worry about it we will see down the line whether it was worth it or not let him at least sign first smh

Tommy!

Exactly what I was thinking, if you make a post on here mentioning money people just say "it's not my money I'm not bothered" and when we pay over the odds for a player who could be a great player in a couple of years we app go into meltdown.

Used to post a little bit but didn't for a while but now want to get back in the mix of it, put just a quick question for the banter page, with the high profile English player moves going on for big money, how much do you reckon players like Scholes, G. Neville, Beckham and more this era players like Carrick and Rooney be worth in today's market, I know Rooney wasnot exactly cheap for then but a player like he and Carrick(whom signed for £18mil) would surely be worth double that when you think of today's market and I'm just a bit curious as to what you lot think they'd be worth if we sold them in today's market when they were in their prime if you know what I mean?

Tommy!

1.) 19 Jul 2015 04:44:48
Scholes would be like Messi, unbuyable. Carrick would prob have been 35-40 mil, Neville probably 20-25 mill, Giggsy prob 60-70 mill, and Becks in his prime easily a hundred million if not for his ability, then his marketability.

2.) 19 Jul 2015 04:59:01
Neville 40m, Carrick 40m.Scholes 60m, Giggs and Rooney 80m. Becks 90m

3.) 19 Jul 2015 08:14:04
beckham was never in the same class as scholes or giggs. Had a great right foot and a good attitude until he met you know who and started to focus on being a celebrity. As previous poster said, half his value would relate to his income he would generate through shirt sales etc

4.) 19 Jul 2015 10:13:41
Al -dont agree with your Beckham post He never let the team down His workrate was good .His passing was great and his free kicks were world class. On top of that he was capt whilst Giggs was in the side .All Giggs had over Beckham was pace something Beckham never had .Giggs had some terrible games in a United shirt and to say Beckham is no where near him IMO is not fair âš½

5.) 19 Jul 2015 10:18:14
Giggs's price has to be equal to Messi and Ronaldo's today. Back in the days Beckham was my favourite player, but I see Giggs as the best player of that team.

6.) 19 Jul 2015 11:49:25
Giggs was a great player for us but he was never in the Messi or Ronaldo class .

7.) 19 Jul 2015 12:36:33
Beckham is one of my all time favourite footballers he didn't have the natural talent that some of his teammates had but he was a true example of hard work and dedication paying off a wonderful man to boot .

8.) 19 Jul 2015 13:01:47
Beckham was one of the reasons I love watching man utd

9.) 20 Jul 2015 02:03:07
Inter Milan offered us 25million for giggs and 20million for Roy Keane asa we won the 98/99 treble so I believe giggs would be up there in the 100million bracket as bale is right now even though bale isn't good enough to polish an in-form in the prime of his career giggs

Right here me out lads when I say this but if we sell Rooney I don't think we would need a replacement, we have RVP who can score 25+ goals a season, then we have Hernandez who can score 15+ if played enough, then we have Welbeck and Henriquez who could both score at least 5+ a season maybe, a big MAYBE! We could use the money to fund a CM signing and maybe add to the funds to sign a LB and LM? Just a thought! Would anyone else agree or not?

Tommy!

1.) 06 Aug 2013 17:38:46
Sorry I can not agree with this. Most people just think RVP will automatically score the same as last year or more (I Hope so) but who knows, he could get injured or have a bad patch (Every player seems to go through them). Then we are counting to much on Hernandez, who IMO is not always a big threat in every game and 2 goal Welbeck, I'm far from convinced. Rooney's goals and assist's would be badly missed and we would need to replace him. I still hope some how we could keep Rooney but it is looking very unlikely.

2.) And if RVP got injured on the first match for three months? Welbeck up front? Hernandez playing up on his own?

3.) What happens if RVP gets injured?
If Rooney goes we will need a top striker to replace him.

So lads, we've not really seen the money that we got for Ronaldo spent, it was probably used to help the debt, but if the Glazers put it away, knowing SAF would retire soon, and the incoming manager was to put it towards a marquee signing, to help them get the backing of the fans, do you reckon we could have a net spend summer of about 35-40 million plus a different spend for a marquee signing like bringing Ronaldo home? Just a thought guys! I was meant to post this a while ago but forgot, but would like to know what you guys think!

Tommy!

1.) The money is likely to have been swallowed up elsewhere. That said I believe money COULD be made available if the Glazers felt it necessary to invest it - but can't see them doing so any time soon.

2.) Groundhog post.

3.) Just read the good blogs like Swissramble and Andersred and you will know exactly how the cash flow has taken place. The Ronaldo money has neither gone to debt, nor stacked in some cupboard elsewhere, it has been absorbed into the business just like any other incoming cash does.

No wonder Ed002 does not want to talk about money on here.

I read something about this, I don't think he's getting in trouble for it I just think he's being questioned to see if he knows anything about it, I doubt it it's probably between the clubs finance chiefs but you never know.

You're saying it as if its the end of the world, surely a CB and a CM are our priorities and only then can we look at a goalscoring winger, there are better options than Di Maria and these could also come cheaper, but I suppose I am contradicting myself as I would love to sign him, just saying its not as if we he is a necessity for the price being quoted.

Strootman, not seen to much of Gundogan to judge but I hear Strootman is the better player defensively!

Fabio for LB.

Jones has a very exciting future ahead, and I can see Smalling becoming the face of Englands defence.

Nani because he is younger, and when he wants, he is the one out of the 2 that is United quality.

Probably Hernandez would be the better to keep, but if Welbeck can just add finishing to his game it will help him a lot and SAF definitely prefers Welbeck IMO, also we could replace Hernandez easier with the larger sum of money he would bring in!

If I could click the agree button a 1000 times I would this is exactly the reason imo hopefully by the end of the transfer window we will know whether we will have a RW to do the job needed and would love Mata to come central, here's to wishing👏

Another brilliant article Moon, keep it up and get yourself on the managerial ladder, then when you finally take over at Manchester United you'll know who we want to sign 😉
