"Van Gaal has his philosophy and one of the things that made me want to leave is that, " Di Maria told ESPN Radio Argentina after his cameo against AS Monaco last Sunday, in which he provide a stunt assist.

I think there are many fans bothered by the same thing and feels bad.

I'm not worry about quality of our players after this transfer market. I'm worry about how far can LVG lead us with his "philosophy", and how long would the "process" takes for the team to consistently produce persuasive dominant in EPL games with the "philosophy".

But the good news for me is that I wouldn't have to be worry for longer than a year. Because any of the future at next summer below will do me happier:
1) LVG's sacking for lacking improvement in EPL result. Thus there will come a "more suitable" attacking philosophy instead.
2) We do get a better result.

Make no mistake Jedi Van Gaal wi be gone by the end of the season. His philosophy is a bore to behold and it will ultimately hold players back in their future development.

Lvg is doing the job he was hired to do. Get rid of dead wood, get solid players in, sort out the youth. Yes, he said he wants to win the league but could you imagine if he said we won't win the league in the 3 years he's here? There would be uproar! Anyone who watched football knew we were miles behind Chelsea and City. It takes time to build a team but LVG is rebuilding the club.
I just don't get the bashing. 99% of people on here moaned about the players, wage bill etc. He has sorted that. He wants solid football. Football to get us into the ECL as that's worth big money to the club from sponsors etc. He has spent big but it was necessary in order to remain competitive and finish in the top 4. Yes a club our size should be challenging for the league but by God. Take off those red tinted glasses and realise we were on the verge of doing a Liverpool. I'm not a fan of the style of play but give me champions league football and a solid foundation for the next long term manager and I will consider LVG's job done.

You call yourself a Jedi, yet you find your truths from a quoted sentence from ESPN?!?

Yoda's just hung himself.

Not 100% sure on this , so maybe one of the Eds could confirm either way? But if United wanted rid of LvG , They could have replaced him this summer. I did hear a rumour that this was an option , but the club chose not to go down that road.

{Ed002's Note - They decided not to.}

If you listen to the quotes from people about someone who they have fallen out with then what did you expect him to say?

I'm not saying LvG is an easy person to get along with, he isn't. He always falls out with players, coaches, medical staff, members of the board or even the tea lady. He is abrasive. But make no mistake the club knew that when they hired him, they knew it more so during last season, and they knew it this summer when they chose not to replace him.

Di Maria didn't get along with LvG and his playing style was at odds with LvG's ideals. The real mistake was buying him in the first place as anyone who had watched Di Maria on a regular basis and who knew what LvG demands from his players would have known it was unlikely to work out. But the real reason he wanted to leave was his wife didn't like Manchester, then someone attempted to rob him and his wife played the I don't feel safe for our child card.
I admit if he was having a much better time on the pitch it might have made the decision harder, but when your wife says we are moving then your moving.

Shappy -

In an interview former Real Madrid legend and one of my personal all time favourite players Hugo Sanchez has said this in regards to Van Gaal "I've coached and a coach cannot do that to their own player. I'd go out and applaud him and tell him to trust in himself. But that look he gave Giggs… what a scoundrel.

"It was a bad game for Chicharito but any player in the world can do that. Van Gaal is a scoundrel; hopefully those in England realise he is a bad person and treats his players poorly.

"He should be professional. The players deserve professional and humane treatment."

When Stoichkov spoke about LVG he had a personal vendetta, when Falcao said the manager was tough to get along with he was making excuses for his poor season, when Di Maria gave us an insight into LVG's regime he was a disgruntled ex employee.

So tell me what has Hugo Sanchez, a legend, got to gain here? Why would anyone want to play under this narcissist? Can not wait for his successor to come in and he no longer drags our name through the mud.

compared to what ribery and co had to say about him that's quite polite.
he does tend to tub people up the wrong way

8.) 03 Sep 2015 11:26:11
Jred, your typo should be rub or tug. I'm hoping it s rub

9.) 03 Sep 2015 12:12:31
JMB isn't really wrong here to be fair. We were warned LVG would wind some people up the wrong way. The only way he is going to be successful here is if every player buys into his system. We will have to wait and see. If they don't he won't be here next year. It is possible to both criticize the team/manager and still support them.

Rosie I am starting to tolerate you.

11.) 03 Sep 2015 14:48:46
Uh oh. going to go sit in the shower and question my existence.

12.) 03 Sep 2015 17:18:01
Spot on Rosie. Deep in my mind I hope LVG is right about his philosophy, though I am really worrying.
But if we still hang at 4th or even worse place next May with the same playing style that can't break through defense, everyone here shot me today will call for his head then for sure.
I just don't think people can change philosophy easily, especially at his age, and with his character. And with game principle fixed, only thing u can do is keeping try and error with switching player positions to see if it works this time and the next time. That's sure to be a long "process".

If there were obvious 2 or 3 players to blame, our total quality of players still far greater than our opponent in recent 4 games(let along the price tags). I think it's some out-dated gaming "philosophy" neutralized the expected outcome.

Imagine if Klopp to have Mata, Schmidfield, Herrera, Young, Darmian, Luke Shaw, Smalling in his disposal, what would the performance be like in those games?

World class players been tagged that title because they do have stunts to produce. And if you could luckily recruit any of them, be sure to unleash their distinct quality by any means. Or, it would be your credit to lose if they can still proof themselves elsewhere.

That Depay and Rooney are guaranteed starter is beyond my mind.

Young is more effective than Depay, get rid of Depay and Valencia on right back, Darmion on left. Maybe Schniderlin for Carrick later.

Disagree. The solution can't be simplified like that. Isn't LvG just trying to play safe for reducing defensive risks? What have we got now? How can we tactically play more safe base on the tactic now?

Beside,
1. We have more quality attackers then defenders.
2. City has best quality in doing the best at both end.

We do have a good squad now. I think it's just a issue of how well the manager utilize the players, to the degree of invoking their true quality and potential.

That's why Swansea beat us with a objectively less quality team.

Yes, Jase.
Young is faster and willing to take-on, also share more defensive effort.
I always think we should have played Young against Swansea last week.
