I'd like Kane at United, even if a striker is not a priority we should remember it is not a priority only next season, after that we will be looking for a striker. Secondly we can't rely on Cavani for a full season of 50+ games. We will need to sell to get some players in but I'd imagine Lingard, Mata, DDG, Jones among others will probably leave and hopefully this frees up some funds/ room for a striker, CDM and a CB.

Kane would cost between 120-150m, a CB would cost at least 50m (if we want one that will be an upgrade and definitely get in the team ahead of Lindelof) . A CDM would cost upwards of 50m.

The C.V. has hit everyone financially, we have never spent over 200m in one window, I doubt we can afford to now given the current situation.

Signing Kane probably means we only get one other player, and that player will likely be a "gamble" signing for 25-30m rather than someone who is much more likely/ ready to make an impact in the first team. Something similar to Amad Diallo last summer.

Harry Kane alone would cost 100 million or even more.

We need to address our priorities first.
Our defence is leaky and in most games we loose the midfield battle.
Therefore, imo we should fix the CDM and CB positions before splashing extortionate amount on Kane.

Romero will be going, I'd expect Mata to leave aswell. If Mourinho wants Matic, then sell him to Roma. It was a mistake to reward him with such a long contract.

Lingard, I think he needs to move to a new club. I doubt after this season he would want to play as a sub at Utd most games. Perhaps this shows how poor Ole is at managing players?

Fred needs to be sold. He is a liability and McTominay is a box to box midfielder not a holding midfielder.

I think we Cavani staying for another year, that it is unlikely Utd will sign another forward. A GK, RB, CB and DM are all positions the club are looking at improving. Therfore it is unlikely in my opinion that Kane will be a player the club will actively pursue this summer.

players are not going to cost what they would have a few years back shappy, you said it yourself C.V. has had an effect.

kane 2 years ago would be 120 million i think 80 million would get him, he wants to leave no one is going to pay 120-150 million for someone.

who ever buys kane wins the title next season.

Sometimes you have to realise that you can't have every toy in the shop and have to spend your money appropriately. Kane would be great but as we have said previously without addressing some of our other issues (HM a case in point) he will be just a lovely piece up front getting frustrated that the other components are not doing it.
Question for the board will be, do you want to build a team correctly or do you just want the shiny new big toy.
Build from the back, get the CB/ HM sorted. Decide if you then want to spend on an area long term where we have already sorted a short term option in Cavani and we all hope that we have a long term option in Greenwood.

Cavani signing an extension, Aguero leaving and Kane announcing he wants to leave screams out two outcomes.

1. He wants more money
2. City will sign him and the points gap will be even bigger.

Bolger, tell that to Daniel Levy. Kane might want to leave, but he is on a long term deal. Levy won't sell for anything less than 120m probably closer to 150m. Especially to a direct domestic rival.

Spurs have been there before, selling a star player for a huge fee when they sold Bale. The problem was everyone knew Spurs had cash so they ended up having to over pay for average players and the side suffered because of it.

Spurs don't even have a decent back up striker, so selling Kane means that HAVE to sign a replacement. Plus they don't have UCL football to attract the best options available.

Shappy why can we not be creative and offer them someone like martial or Lingard to bring down the costs of Kane?

If you can get Kane in, you do it.

Px players plus cash for Kane wouldn't be a bad idea. But it would depend on whether Spurs would even entertain that idea in the first place.

If we sign kane I don't think we win the league next year bolger.

100% no one will be paying 120-150 million for kane.

when they can wait a year and get halland for half that.

they either sell him now for a reasonable price, like caolan said either with players in exchange or risk losing more on his value next season when he will have just turned 29

spurs have never been a club that buys players for mega money there record transfer is 55 million.

18 May 2021 16:10:30
Coalan i think that's the only way for us to get a deal for kane. But if he were open to a move for chelsea think of how many players they could offer. Also maybe a pogba varane swap wouldn't be out of the question to save on the defence?

13.) 18 May 2021
18 May 2021 16:17:05
Expect us to try to get him for Martial, Lingard plus a wedge of cash (70m+) . Kane with a CDM and CB makes us title challengers so I'm definitely expecting us to try hard to get him. Agree fully with Caolan.

We keep saying CB is a priority yet we have done hit and miss window after window throwing money that way even to the tune of a record fee. What will make this season different?
1. Maguire
2. Lindelof
3. Bailly
4. Jones
5. Tuanzebe

All these are CBs we have at the club not even out on loan, ship at least 2 out to make way for one.

RW is not a priority for me, Greenwood covered it well and we invested quite heavily for such youngsters last season on that position.

CDM - we extended Matic's contract and have fred and Mctom, we need 1 to leave to make room for a new one esp with Garner looking good on loan.

We will lose players like Mata, Pogba? some keepers, Lingard, Andreas, throw in Martial to sweeten the deal for Kane. I for one am tired of seeing martial as our striker!

What do we do with Chong and Donny?

15.) 18 May 2021
18 May 2021 16:32:59
Bolger, his contract expires in 2024. That's three more seasons taking him to a month before his 31st birthday when that deal expires.

Spurs can sit tight and let him run his contract down if he wants. He seems like a good lad and I don't see him being the sort to cause trouble or rock the boat to force his way out.

For Levy he'll see it as Spurs will either have a top player during the peak of his career, or they will get a kings ransom.

Maybe we could do a part exchange, but only if we have players Spurs want, they are players we are prepared to let go, and the players themselves are happy to make the move. Which is why swap/ part-exchange deals are so difficult to pull off.

I'll say it now, unless someone stumps up 120m+ or a deal with a value in excess of that including players, then Kane will be a Spurs player next summer.

I understand fans concerns about him going elsewhere, and I can see the appeal of signing him. The reality however, is a striker is a long way down our priorities list. Getting easily distracted from our aims by whistles and fluttering eyelashes is exactly why Woodward spent all summer chasing Fabregas, Thiago, Bale and Kroos only to end up with Fellaini in a last minute deal.

Last summer we spent the whole time chasing Sancho thinking we could bully another team into accepting a lower price, then when that didn't work we had a supermarket sweep and grabbed Cavani, Pellistri and Diallo. Two of which have made no impact this season despite the large expenditure on them. While Cavani has been a moderate success as although he has scored well and impacted performances positively he has struggled to be fit for large parts of the season only managing 19 starts out of a potential 58 games. Meaning he has only been able to make a telling impact in around a third of the season.

Having a clear plan and sticking to it has been our weakness in the past 8 years and has played a large role in oour spending of over 1bn with little to show for it.

If we spend all summer chasing Kane only for him to choose to go to City to play under Pep and win titles, meaning we then need to sign our 4th or 5th choice signings in key areas then that will put us further behind our rivals.

Thing is Shappy, when world class players become available, plans change.

United will have to do their due diligence, speak with his representatives to see if he is open to the move, my gut tells me he would be. Then we would try and deal with Spurs. In the past both Lingard and Martial have been linked with them, yes with different managers but scouts etc have seen something they like there. Lingard would add them more goals from another source given his recent form and martial could be a direct replacement at centre forward for them. Levy is shrewd, I don't think he will want to sell him to Chelsea, but if they pay up then he may well go there.

Just because we have a plan, I would say it would be complete negligence if we could attract one of, if not the best striker in the world, to not attempt it.

If united want to get to the top, then we need Kane and likely Sancho. If we are the big club we like to claim to be, then it is time for us to act like a proper club.

I don't see any difference in money between paying for example 140 millions or give them 80 plus Martial plus Lingard. We could sell Lingard for 25 at West Ham for example and Martial for 35 at PSG for example. that's 60 millions. So its 80+60=140 again.
People speak at exchanges like the players you offer has zero value that's not true. They say that Sanchez cost nothing in transfer fee but he did cost. He costed Mikitarians value, so 35 millions at the time.

18.) 18 May 2021
18 May 2021 17:00:16
The simple answer is to offer the amount that's required an you get the player.
Our problem is we fart about with silly offers knowing full well that they are going to be rejected.
Kane will not sign for United because we couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.

19.) 18 May 2021

Kane wants to leave Spurs so that he can win trophies. Why would he come to us? The lad is City bound 100% and it’ll be good for all parties involved. Spurs will get a boatload of cash, City will get a top quality striker who has proven himself in the EPL and Kane will win trophies.

20.) 18 May 2021

Caolan, and therein lies the problem. You believe someone, anyone, at our club is capable of due diligence.

Every time I see us linked to anyone I hear dueling Banjos.
