Sancho and Varane looking quite likely at present time.
Enough to challenge seriously for the league with them 2?

They would massively improve our team, we would have a world class CB and an actual RW.

Defensively we would be better and going forward we should be more creative.

However, I still don't see us as being quite good enough to seriously challenge for the title. That opinion is based on the belief that McFred is absolutely nowhere near good enough as a starting pairing for a title challenging team.

If we get Ndidi as well and get rid of Mata, Lingard, Matic, Jones, Martial and Bailly.

Yes. In the way we play Scot and Fred are very important and make a good job. Bringing a better player like for example Kroos or Modric or whoever doesn't mean they can make macfreds job.
I don't think we play macfred because of lacking a special-ist, we tried there Pogba and Donny without success. I think it is what it is. We love to play with double pivot with two players breaking up play and that's the only way we can play and they are vital.

We won’t be challenging for the title in any instance with Ole at the wheel.

Not needing much then 😉🤣.

Pogba seems to be spectacular playing a really deep role for france. A proper solid dm with pogba along side, plus varane and sancho and we'd be in with a shout imo.

We really don't know yet if Varane can handle the constant fast and physical nature of the PL. Same with Sancho on how he adapts to the league.

With Ole in charge I don't see us challenging for any top honours yet as we need more than just the players on the pitch. We might win some smaller cup competitions with better players around but that itself is not guaranteed with Ole at the helm.

We might win the papa john thing with ole!

Sancho hopefully will be the first dortmund signing to not flop at united.

mumbaianc, we definitely are favorites for "Ole at the wheel" competition.

I hope Sancho hits the ground running just like Bruno.

Having a decent CB pairing and a more consistent threat down the right hand side would definitely make us a lot more competitive, but I still see our biggest problem being Ole’s insistence on selecting two players to do the job of one in the center or midfield.

Perhaps having a more solid defense will convince him to drop one of Fred or Scott, but I’m not convinced that he will. As such, I don’t see us competing for the top honors until we sign or bring through a world class holding midfielder.

With that in mind, that would probably be my top priority this summer if I were Ole and I’d happily sacrifice Pogba and/ or VdB to bring one in.

It depends how others strengthen.

On paper those two should be another 12-18 points.

But if City buy Kane and Grealish, Liverpool with VvD and Konate (if he stays fit) are all likely to out perform last season.

It's on Ole if he gets the players he wants he will have to achieve something. And I would not be surprised to see Zidane arrive if things don't look good.

We've got Sancho, Paul Pogba and Fred. Marcus Rashford a Manc born and bred.

It all makes sense.

No. So long as McFred is first choice CM pairing we should be in the top 4, but won't challenge.

McFred fine as a second choice pairing, but we need a more balanced and creative pairing to break down smaller teams if we want to challenge.

I think if playing two in the middle then one has to be a top class DM who can sit and release everyone else going forward. We don't have one and until we do I don't think we will challenge.
