Rumours of Haaland to Juve.

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 24 Dec 2019 15:37:20
Apart from Haaland, some Juventus fans believe they might also sign Pogba in January.
Typical Raiola.

2.) 24 Dec 2019 21:47:39
Tuttosport rumoured to be running the story now, not checked myslef.

3.) 28 Dec 2019 12:12:12
Apparantly the Haaland rumours were a smokescreen for someone else.

I hope we don't pass up the chance on young talent and end up with an aged player like Mandzukic.

4.) 28 Dec 2019 13:59:15
Haaland agrees to join Zebre ala Juve
At a bargain 27mill.

I was wondering how easy some of our supporters think it is to complete a transfer? I am no expert and presume that those on frees are simple, you just agree terms with the player and that's it. I can also presume that those that hand in a request are a bit easier, in that you approach the club for permission to talk to the player and if they want to sell they grant it and you agree terms with both the player and selling club. It has to be so hard with a club who don't want to sell, you can approach and make an offer, they can accept or decline your offer, you then have to speak to the player and his bloody agent and agree terms. Most players we are after I think have not handed in requests to leave, so it becomes a long bargaining session to see if you can meet the selling clubs valuation and also agree terms with a player? I think I am right Ed 002 will probably tell me I am mad

Cantonas seagull friend

{Ed002's Note - it is not like that for those “Frees”

1.) 17 Jul 2019 18:42:23
Thanks, how hard is it for those out of contract and on a "free"? I only ask as some people on here are demanding to know why and when we are signing players without knowing what it actually takes.

{Ed002's Note - Stuff like this needs to happen and plenty of payments need to be made.
(a) Paperwork including obtaining International Clearance and Work Permits if necessary.
(b) Any levy applied by the local FA – 5% for the Premier League. This eill be based on the assigned value of the transfer fee.
(c) Tax due on the assigned value of the transfer fee – typically this will be VAT (at varying rates across Europe) some or all of which should be reclaimable.
(d) Agent fees – this may be to one or more agents (as an example, Liverpool spent £44M plus VAT on agent fees (nearly double the next highest) last season alone).
(e) Tax due on the agent fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the agent bills from – it is not reclaimable.
(f) Intermediary fees – this may be to one or more sponging leeches (what do you mean you have a super agent?) .
(g) Tax due on the Intermediary fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the Intermediary bills from – it is not reclaimable.
(h) Signing on fee to the player (possibly including non-reclaimable VAT if the player is VAT registered).
(i) Legal fees.
(j) VAT on legal fees which is reclaimable.
(k) Moving/relocation costs for the player.
(l) VAT on moving/relocation costs which is reclaimable.
(m) Solidarity and Training Contributions (this can be significant payments paid based on the assigned transfer fee to clubs you may never of heard of).
(n) Paying up insurance costs to the selling club (usually waived).}

2.) 17 Jul 2019 19:43:04
Are there any decent football documentaries showing behind the scenes of a transfer. Geeky I know but I would find it fascinating to watch.

{Ed002's Note - Quite frankly, of course not.}

3.) 17 Jul 2019 19:43:49
Thanks Ed002, now some of our supporters may see the reason why we have just not signed a player.

{Ed002's Note - To be fair they are far from the brightest.}

4.) 17 Jul 2019 20:31:11
And some people think you are a journalist 😂.

{Ed002's Note - Many say I am a simple singer songwriter that came out of Laurel Canyon in the early 70s. Others say, I played for Arsenal, Everton and Millwall before a successful career in the Medical Law (specialising in left knees). Some even say it was my fadget design that was used in the patent for tentafere that led to air traffic control over Lake Havasu City being lost for 40 minutes on Christmas Eve 2014. Many finally figured out I am a tubby kid from Bolton.}

5.) 17 Jul 2019 21:43:11
Ed002, if they read this they might shut up about asking about player x and y?

{Ed002's Note - I think Player Y will sign Friday.}

6.) 17 Jul 2019 21:51:32
You‘re asking for trouble there Ed 😂

Thanks a lot for the insight.

7.) 17 Jul 2019 21:56:24
oh, I had player Y as Bale, you sure it's not X?

8.) 17 Jul 2019 22:32:51
I have now worked out the identity of Ed 002 and the truth is stranger than fiction. We are so so lucky. Thanks Ed.

9.) 18 Jul 2019 11:57:57
It's Peter kaye!

10.) 18 Jul 2019 17:01:35
I was wondering how easy some of our supporters think it is to complete a transfer?

not as easy as the fifa players and football manager people think but still slightly alarmed that Barcelona can get Griezmann, Real can get Hazard, militao, Mendy and jovic, West ham can get Haller and we can't get a kid from Newcastle despite the fact he would sell his own nan for a fiver lol

Greenwood and Chong are looking decent though so maybe we don't need lots of new signings.

11.) 18 Jul 2019 21:14:03
When I read Ed02's juicier responses I immediately think of him as a middle aged female librarian on HRT and wondering where her life has gone. 💋💋💋.

{Ed002's Note - Obviously I don’t ride a Vincent HRT. I have a Vincent Black Lightning 1952.}

12.) 18 Jul 2019 21:46:23
I thought that was a marital aid.

{Ed002's Note - Sure great for picking up ginger haired chicks.}

13.) 19 Jul 2019 11:38:40
Looked up Laurel Canyon Ed - sure was a crazy time late 60s/ early 70s! Did you get to hang with Crosby, Stills, Nash, Joplin etc?!

{Ed002's Note - I was there with my girlfriend for the lost summer of 1974 in the Hollywood Hills with the Source Family and then in Laurel Canyon.}

14.) 19 Jul 2019 13:48:36
Thanks Ed002: I've just read about the Source family, Father Yod, Yahowa 13 - and much more - and, as Seagull alludes to above, that's some life you've experienced so far. We really are lucky to have you on this site; I've no doubt that every minute of your time is precious. Would be intrigued to know how you've ended up being so omniscient about all football matters though - surely the capitalist market forces that fuel the rivers of money involved in the game - plus the instant gratification culture that drives both players and fans - contradict the Source family/ Laurel Canyon beliefs about life? (Please forgive me for this rhetorical question - just really fascinated by all the things I've read! )

{Ed002's Note - The Canyon was very laid back for the few months we were there but a lot of folks were pretty strung out. The Source Family were preparing to head for pastures new and the restaurant was attracting a lot of vagrants (we had nothing to do with the restaurant). There was a lot of music being recorded at the time by the Source Family and Father Yod’s daughter was born when we were there. There were a huge number of tapes recorded but I don’t know what happened to them.}

15.) 19 Jul 2019 15:21:51
Thanks for sharing your fascinating life Ed002. Looks like the Source family headed off to a mixed reception in Hawaii! The restaurant looks like it was the place to be though. The music seems really eclectic and, maybe under another more established name such as Jefferson Airplane, would have gained more commercial success. Shame so much was lost. Thanks again for sharing Ed - much more interesting than surviving the jungle that is comprehensive school everyday here in the UK!

{Ed002's Note - Currently flying over the Med. I originally came to England to do a masters degree in London. I know some of the albums have been re-issued.}

10 Jun 2019 19:36:16
Pogba agreed deal with Juventus? Who pays these Journos?

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 10 Jun 2019 21:37:23
You by clicking on their rubbish.

2.) 11 Jun 2019 09:47:03
9 years out of date. lol.

3.) 11 Jun 2019 12:37:59
Is that in seagull years shappy?

15 Dec 2018 14:59:46
Not sure if Barcelona are after Pogba or ever were, but could a swap deal with Dembele be done?

Cantonas seagull friend

{Ed025's Note - swap deals very seldom happen im afraid CSF,,

1.) 15 Dec 2018 15:35:45
Was the Mina and Gomes swap for Pogba last summer bull?

{Ed025's Note - probably mate, i would imagine agents would frown upon it as they would lose their cut of the transfer fee..

2.) 15 Dec 2018 15:59:41
Given the stories of dembeles attitude why swap one disruptive influence for another?

3.) 15 Dec 2018 23:18:51
Dembele seems like childsplay compared to Pogba. I’d swap the two for toffee.

06 Dec 2018 18:30:37
Any chance we will go for Robben, Ribery and Sneijder in January?

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 06 Dec 2018 18:48:55
nah i think they are trying to get Cantona, Pallister and Robson.

2.) 06 Dec 2018 20:14:23
Ronaldinho minimum.

3.) 06 Dec 2018 20:32:58
Charlton is still in the stands, maybe him, Bruce and Yorke would help.

4.) 07 Dec 2018 10:09:58
You spelt Schnyder wrong, mate.

5.) 07 Dec 2018 19:46:38
Same fantastic player however you spell it.
Sign him we'll learn to spell it eventually - I am so excited I getting ready by going to night class.

6.) 07 Dec 2018 20:10:28
Don't forget Gaitan; also on the list.

7.) 08 Dec 2018 07:14:35
All these players are now well into their 30's, which probably means they have now become the first choice targets under our current manager. 😂😂😂.

8.) 08 Dec 2018 20:36:23
Thanks for the clarity Shappy, kinda what i was getting at.

9.) 09 Dec 2018 12:24:43
Who could forget Ezequiel Garay at cb.

10.) 10 Dec 2018 10:08:57
In advanced talks with strootman.

11.) 10 Dec 2018 17:42:02
Gaitans testimonial soon.

A friend of mine who works at OT texted me saying he walked past an office and heard a muffled voice say "I want MO Salah this month", and a voice he did not regonise replied "Yes that can be sorted, don't tell OLE yet". He said he burst in to find Luke Shaw and a Chef, seems Shaw was actually asking for No Salad this month.

05 Jan 2020 09:49:16
Well that gave me a laugh today. Reports we are prepared to offer £45 million and Lingard for Maddison.

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 05 Jan 2020 10:17:37
Leicester have made a counter offer, 40m and we keep Lingard 😂.

2.) 05 Jan 2020 10:57:17
So does it mean Lingaard is worth anything in transfer Market? With him in any offer, Leicester will black list us for such Joke in serious matter.

3.) 05 Jan 2020 11:39:33
It would prove how amateurish United are if they try and offer Leicester that deal.

I'd imagine all they would hear at the other end of the phone was laughter.

Seriously, the papers will right anything to get a sale.

If Jones can get a testimonial for the club then Lingard will probably staylong enough to get one.

4.) 05 Jan 2020 13:02:58
I find it incredible in this day an age people buy papers.

5.) 05 Jan 2020 13:33:29
Eric, they're cheaper than loo roll and nothing is quite as satisfying as wiping your arse with either Trumps or Boris's face.

6.) 05 Jan 2020 20:25:24
Stings a bit though surely Shappy?

03 Jan 2020 22:37:25
The Chump that is Raiola is now reported to be criticising Ajax after helping to move on two of their best players. I don't doubt they wanted to better their careers by moving to top European clubs, but Ajax is a Legend maker, maybe its time for all clubs to boycott him and his players will soon leave his money grabbing grasp.

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 03 Jan 2020 22:47:55
Jesus Ed's I know I used a few stars for a swear word, but changing it to CHUMP?, maybe idiot, prat, fool etc but to suggest I said CHUMP🤔.

{Ed047's Note - I was gonna put clunge! 😂

2.) 04 Jan 2020 06:42:28
Well, neither the players or selling clubs are going to mind who the agent is as long as they get the best deal for themselves. And the buying club could be forced to deal with him especially if he has a special player on his hands and there is scarcity of quality options.

The only way would be if young players with potential themselves don't choose him as their agent, which is unlikely given the fact they know they are going to get a great deal and probably also help them enhance their careers.

3.) 04 Jan 2020 07:47:53
On a wider point, it is immoral that an Agent can earn commission from both the selling and buying clubs. And how dumb is a player thatchers Agent can earn tens of millions for his transfer? The whole transfer system and agents fees is an appalling mess.

4.) 04 Jan 2020 08:32:43
It's spiralled out of control, players are within reason free to choose who represents them. That boat has sailed and it will be almost impossible to change its course now.

I think the easier solution would be to put a cap on transfer fees, and on the number of transfers a club can make in one season.

If the transfer fee for a player was capped at the total amount he will be paid over the remainder of his contract then I think that is fair.

Club's pay players what they feel the player is worth. So why demand more than you feel he is worth when selling?

For example if a club pays a player 10m a year on a 5 year contract than they are saying he is worth 50m at the start of that contract. So after they have had 2 years of value from that player and he has 3 years remaining on a 10m a year contract then a buying club would only have to pay 30m.

You then cap agents fees at 10% of the transfer value with an agreement made between both club's as to how much of that fee is paid by which club. So maybe when a club is actively looking to sell a player they will maybe pay 6% with the buying club paying 4%, while when the bid is hostile and the selling club does not wish to sell then maybe the buying club will pick up all bill for the whole 10%.

To keep control of transfers you could cap transfers to 3 signings per season. To stop the big club's just signing all the best players in one summer. That would also include players for the youth academy. Which would be far more important for every club if they are limited to signing 3 players a season.

{Ed025's Note - that makes a lot of sense shappy..

5.) 04 Jan 2020 10:16:20
I lived in Netherlands for a while, still sometimes look at dutch newspapers to try and keep my understanding of the language -I read this summer a football journalist claimed Barcelona came back in at the last minute for De Ligt just as he was about to sign for Juve . as they couldn't match Juves wage offer which would upset the Barcelona structure Raiola wouldn't have a last minute sit down with them. When Barcelona said they were disappointed and said De ligt would be better off with them Raiola apparently said well we can sit down and talk again in a couple of years -despite de ligt just about to sign a 5-6 year deal with Juve. Not good for football but his clients seem to love him.

31 Dec 2019 17:39:33
I posted a few days ago about Pogbas omission from the Burnley squad and was it ready for a Jan exit. Was told by at least one it was to keep him fresh for Arsenal. Now he has not travelled again, is this an injury problem or is he been kept fit for a transfer.

Cantonas seagull friend

{Ed047's Note - I really don’t think you appreciate how much pouting can actually take out of a supreme athlete like Pogba. He’s probably tucked up in bed as I type.

1.) 31 Dec 2019 18:03:18
Word is allready in london?

{Ed047's Note - it wouldn’t really be a surprise

2.) 31 Dec 2019 18:28:01
I think it’s obvious that Pogba wants a transfer and is unwilling to risk injury by playing for us. He can just keep telling the club he doesn’t feel right or ready to play.

We should have sold in the summer, and it will be difficult to do anything next month. Expect another 5 months of this nonsense.

{Ed047's Note - sadly it wouldn’t surprise me Danny. He really needs to go so you can get some quality in your midfield.

3.) 31 Dec 2019 19:28:59
Anyone checked his toenails? That can keep you out until Juventus😊.

{Ed047's Note - 😂

4.) 31 Dec 2019 20:07:59
Us United fans can be divide like all clubs, but I hope all can see we needed to keep Herrera and let Pogba go, what prick made the decision to do it the other way around.

29 Dec 2019 09:39:20
I wonder if Pogba has played his two bit games to show other teams he is OK after his injury and he was kept out of the squad last night ready for a January move?

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 29 Dec 2019 10:15:49
I think it’s more the fact that we want him for the arsenal game, and he’s played two games in a very short space of time. If he played yesterday and got injured again there would have been a lot of criticism of his selection. Either way it worked out yesterday.

2.) 29 Dec 2019 10:29:18
Pogba, AWB, Greenwood and Shaw will probably return to the starting xi, next game.

I agree, we seem to miss out on the talented youth across Europe. This could be down to the toxics wanting instant success. Before Daniel James we have to back a good few years to have picked up a relatively unknown player at a bargain fee.
