Well we are 1-0 at home to Fulham and the first half is almost over. If we can't beat the bottom side in the Premiership what hope for Notes in retaining his job. There is still a second half to go and we can win the game. Come on UTD.

We were outplayed, out passed and made to look so ordinary.

5 defeats at OT, no pace in our play. We just look so dire and we can't string any threatening passes together. How many saves did their keeper have to make today - answer none. No shots on the Swansea goal, nothing that showed that we wanted to win the game.

Sadly SAF has left us with a very poor team and choose a successor who is quite simply not up to the job. The empty seats and boos ringing around the stadium said it all.

Out of the FA Cup, out of the league. We can't even be confident of even beating Sunderland on Tuesday night. I beat even Olympiakos will be looking at the CL fixture against us, with real relish.

1.) Just got back from the game and would love one of the moyes huggers to tell me anything positive, after just paying £44 and sitting through that excuse of a football match.out fought, out played, out of the cup.absolute disgrace and I don't blame just moyes he isn't good enough for a job of this magnitude, fergie deserves the most flack for the piss poor quality of squad he left him.

2.) United were by far the better side until Canas came on. Not sure what game you were watching lad. Even their 1st goal was against the run of play. It's the same old story for us, plenty of possession, but no cutting edge. We need more in the final third. Even when Rooney has been playing we have been poor in the final third. We need Van Persie to return and we need a decent left winger. Today's result was a blessing in disguise. We are struggling with injuries and we could do with concentrating on the league. We will beat Olympiakos, but it will be difficult beyond then.

3.) Were we really outplayed? We had clearly most of possesion and although we didn't create that many chances, I think we deserved to win. There were some good individual performances from players like Buttner, Smalling, Fletcher and Clevs.I'm sure that if Fabio hadn't been sent off, we would have at least got a replay, if not have won the game.Swansea did not look dangerous at all until after the sending off and never deserved to be infront for me.

That is not to say Moyes should be relaxed though. It's more than unacceptable for our team to lose in the Theatre of Dreams 4 times in 6 matches.Drastic changes should be made soon.We need reinforcements.1 or 2 signings in January will do.At least we can hope that with FA Cup being out of the way, we will start doing better in the league.Another positive is that we have plenty of injured players to come back and I thing they will make us much better than we are looking like now.Let's give the manager more time and if he fails to bring results when he has actually built his own team then sack him, but until then let's be patient;there will be even more results like that.

4.) Completely agree.

All of a sudden it feels like Ron Atkinson's in charge again. Though to be fair to Big Ron he did actually give us 2 FA Cups!!

5.) 05 Jan 2014 19:06:41
Sydney

I don't which game you were watching we were poor in The second half. And Swansea were pretty good.
TBH, I thought it would have been a draw if fabio would have been on the pitch. But I had 100% belief, we won't be winning.

6.) Possesion means nothing unless you make it count with goals.there goalie didn't have a save to make, we were second to every ball, we had no creativity we were so slow at building attacks all so predictable teams know how we will play and set up accordingly.i said early in the season we wouldn't finish in the top 4 and unfortunately what I see week in week out hasn't changed my opinion.not good enough I've been there when we were poor pre fergie and I don't mind us losing as long as we go down fighting were now going down regular with a wimper.too many average players who are not good enough to be in utd, s 1st eleven and some not good enough to be squad players.i would much rather play more u21 players than some of the crap were paying a fortune too each week

7.) Sydney, I was watching an abject performance. 2nd half was dire and the first half wasn't that much better. just like the defeat to Spurs for 60 minutes in that game we did not attempt to play until we were 2-0 down.

8.) Sydney I wouldn't be so sure of beating Olympiacos, they have a better midfield than you.

You're predictions also seem to backfire, didn't you say you'd be top by mid November?

9.) I just disagree we were 'outplayed'. Swansea were pretty poor IMO and we were better than them in the middle of the park up until Canas. If we were better in the final 3rd we would have won comfortably. Problem is we cannot create a crumb and finishing is non-existent. Even with Rooney we have been toothless this season. We need Van Persie back and we need some better attacking players. One centrally and one from the left.

10.) 05 Jan 2014 19:55:15
Sydney what game was you watching

I thought your fire drill went well

11.) Sydney, I can't remember their goalie making a save, what game were you watching?
The stats mean nothing as we were passing the ball in our own half most of the time. Swansea passed it very well and fully deserved to win.
Even my wife sat here patiently watching the match and halfway thru uttered 'united are not very good, are they!'

12.) Blind faith?

13.) 05 Jan 2014 20:29:04
Sydney.

You are at home against a team who hasn't won since decades. what you expect them to do at OT?
common. or you want Swansea to have an 80-20% possession?.

14.) Too much jack daniels I think syd :( lol

15.) Blame anyone but the players, isen't it? When its apparent week in week out, that we are not a top top side anymore. People come and talk about how Kagawa ripped the Bundesliga a new one, but alas, let's find excuses and say that he is brilliant, just that noone plays as well as him. He may be a good player, but definitely one of the most over-rated players to have played for us. When will he grow a pair?

How many sides in the EPL will have sleepless nights imagining a front 4 of Welbeck, Valencia, Chica, Kagawa? The keeper did not even have a save to make except for the Buttner free kick.

Our full backs keep getting skinned and can't do the basics of defending. Their positional sense is sunday league. But no, we have a very good squad and the 4th place trophy should be automatically Fedex-ed to us.

Whenever someone from midfield picks a ball up looking for options, all of the others are hiding. Scared to get the pass and look like fools on the ball. They are so further apart that the only option is a hoof ball.

Our defence keeps marching backwards allowing midfield runners to storm into our penalty boxes. Yes, Moyes will have to take some blame, but the players wearing the shirt need to get a kick up their rear. But no, let's trot out our "this squad won last year", "we will finish 4th no matter what" lines time and again.

Deeps.

16.) 05 Jan 2014 21:18:14
We were poor today and had no creativity but we wern't outplayed. We are just missing that bit of creativity to open teams up that would turn results like this and the other narrow losses into draws and wins.
Once we buy a player to give us that our confidence will start returning and we will start to get results.
Its bad at the moment but a signing or 2 will turn it around.
The sending off cost us the game. Silly tackle just too eager to impress on a rare outing.

17.) John Denton, why do you pay £44 to see the same old crap play with the same second rate actors who can't be bothered giving you a performance for your hard earned money.

I can't be arsed with any of it until there's some investment to bring entertainment back to old trafford

18.) If people had bothered to read what I wrote. I clearly said we lacked anything in the final third. We have been lacking all season without RvP. But in our general play we were far from outplayed by Swansea. We were by far the better side up until Canas.

19.) Will Red, exactly. At City we were outplayed. We done everything right up until the final 3rd.

dear all, I think we all need to get a grip on reality in this window. Firstly ED thanks for the breakdown on the various alleged transfer targets. However none will be coming. We will not be buying anybody in January. I would prefer to be wrong, but it isn't going to happen.

In the short term things will look bleak, no CL football next season as we will not be finishing in the top 4. David Moyes has a real job on his hands to rebuild this united team. It won't happen in one season as are owners are not known for spending the cash. look at how they run their NFL Franchise the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

To my mind we need to follow the lead of Barca in the late 1980's who realised that they could not compete with the likes of money rich Real Madrid. Go back and develop your youth set up, to genuinely bring forward the stars of the future. We haven't done so, despite all the guff you sometimes see here about our youth set up. Moyes has set up a great youth set up at Everton and it is developing quality players. This is where he needs to start, start with the youth set up and get it producing talent. Remember Pogba and Janujza where bought in at 16, we didn't develop them.

Stop looking for expensive mercenary signings and go back to our past. Clear out the deadwood, including Rooney and promote our youth. Yes it means no CL for awhile and maybe we just focus on Domestic cups for a while but it means we get players who have united in their blood and not just in their bank balance.

For those of you who weren't around pre the Premier League, this is the Manchester United way, the foundations were layed down by the Great Sir Matt.

United through thick or thin, not just because we win :-)

1.) Jesus mate what a Chrimbo your family must have had they must have been on suicide watch

2.) I agree with a lot of that Empty but I can't see anyone at OT, board, management, current top players, roo, Januzaj etc waiting that long. Bringing youngsters through can only happen with world stars helping them along as with Becks, Neville's etc. the truth is, we don't have enough class players.
I do feel SAF has rather left Moysie as deep in it as he could have, but to be fair, Moyes and Woodward had plenty of time to reinforce this squad.
Losing matches isn't the end of the world, it's the way we are losing. Back line react very slowly to danger, midfield can only play sideways, and forwards wait for through balls and crosses that never arrive.
We either buy a couple of class players now, or we write off the next few seasons and promote from the kids.

3.) We didn't develop januzaj and pogba? So wot were we doing with them at 16? We have coached and corrected a lot of Januzaj's and pogba game, the fact they are playing and competing at the top level is because of us!

Ure a right ray of sunshine ain't ya lol!
We will buy this window that i'm sure of wether its the level we are hoping for remains to be seen.

4.) That would be great except English players are generally not very good, which is why England doesn't win anything. Within the foreseeable future, there is no way any English club will win a major domestic or European trophy without serious investment in top international players. And without trophies and champions league football for an extended period, United's whole youth development, recruiting, marketing and financial structure of the club could disintegrate. There's a side of me that would like to see that happen if it were to result in forcing the Glazers to sell. The problems we are seeing are entirely down to them - and they would have been apparent earlier had it not been for the brilliance of SAF.

I know the financial collapse concept is not one that the Eds believe is a possibility, but revenues are tied to results, stock price is tied to revenues, and the ability to raise capital is tied to stock price. With an income reduction of 50m+ per year and debts still in the 350-400m range where is the 100-200m needed for new players going to come from?

Its a new world. Football is now a global branding business. The Busby way is gone.

5.) Peashooter

Agree, mate.
The pieces are all in place for a Liverpool-esque meltdown. How we handle the next 12months could be pivotal to the future of this club.

Tonight has surely ended David Moyes reign at Old Trafford for me. I was willing to back him and support him. The team were dire tonight. It his selections, tactics which are so baffling. Brian Clough always used to say 'never change a winning side'. DM drops Januzi, Fellani and doesn't replace Mata with Kagawa. Instead we bring TC - never going to be a UTD player and AY(surely belongs in the Muppet XI and not in a UTD team) and TV who has as much success with crosses at present as Dracula. Angry and have finally lost patience.

We can moan about Moyes's tactics, but that doesn't excuse the players inability to pass, tackle or general lack of passion or energy. The performance tonight so far is an absolute disgrace. 66 minutes in and not one meaningful effort on target.

Sorry Redsky but I think you were so wrong about Carrick and Cleverly last night. They did a brilliant job of breaking up Arsenal 's attacks and giving the ball to our more crceative players- Rooney, RVP, Mata and Valencia. We created the 3 best chances in the game which RVP failed to convert and so we blame our defensive midfield two for that.
