Just want to say good luck to Juan Mata at Manchester United and one last thing, in november moyes said that he didn't ozil so correct me if I am wrong ain't ozil and mata similar type of players?

MO11

1.) Well if he said that he didn't want him, then I guess he didn't want him. He said the money was there and it was.

2.) I think Mata has shown he can play in our league and was Chelsea's best player for several years. It is an excellent signing as long as backed up with a top midfield player and left back. In terms of Ozil the money may not have been available in summer. In that the owners via Woodward may not have felt it was needed, note his no retool comment. The slump we have seen on the pitch and in the share price likely jolted the owners to invest and thank goodness for that. Out of Ozil and Mata I think we got the better one as physically Mata has shown he can handle himself.

3.) @Red Man

Fully agree. Imo Mata has stepped up in big games, fought on when others haven't played well and he is a very good person, a bit Scholes like. His lowest low is higher than most players. Like you said, he handles physicality well. I don't think Ozil has done enough in the important games.

Also interesting is that unlike Ozil, he started off on the left side of midfield. I'm sure you remember the games against Swansea and Wigan at the start of the season and how we used Giggs in those games to great effect. I think that is how Moyes will look to deploy Mata, to much more devastating effect.

A young energetic left back like Shaw and a powerful CM like Vidal would complement that very well and make us a deadly side. It gives us the option of switching tactics within the game.

Then perhaps we could look to a center back and winger in the summer.

Arsenal fan here i'm not here to rub it in. I just want to say that I feel really sorry for januzaj. He is the only Manchester United palyer that works his socks off. The kid deserves more and now that you are signing mata I think he won't be getting much more of a free role.

MO11

1.) This is my worry as well. Even more rotation and dilly dallying - how long will it take for Mata to get match fit, who is sacrificed? More players down in the dumps (wingers because we are changing formation). if we don't change formation is Mata just another Kagawa?

I don't know what the plan is, and I don't think Moyes does either.

2.) Wow, 'Rooney Must Go'. How are you going to blame Moyes for this? Its probably his fault 5 outfield players missed penalties too right? So fickle.

Of course he knows what he wants to do, who are you to judge he doesn't, sitting behind a screen? Give him time, he hasn't even been in charge a year yet, he won't settle in. Ferguson left him with a rusty team, injuries haven't helped, and neither has the fact that other teams have invested huge amounts, and stepped up their game. 37 million isn't spent just cause 'yolo'.

Sorry for using the phrase lol

3.) Sorry, 4 outfield players*
Wish there was a way to edit posts, saves you eds a hassle lol.

4.) "Wish there was a way to edit posts"

There is, right up until you press the 'send' button ;-)

Hey guys arsenal fan here in peace,
I just wanted to know your guys opinion on being linked with Juan mata. In my opinion he is top quality but to be honest I don't think he is a player that you really need. I always thought you needed a box to box player like gundogan, vidal, pogba or cabye. What are your thoughts?

MO11

1.) If there is no way of signing any of the players you mention during this window then I think we should go for Mata now - especially if Rooney will be leaving in the summer (the club should know this by now).

If there is a chance of us signing Vidal et al then we should put all of our efforts in to those deals. Either way we need to bring some quality in during this window if we're to secure a top four finish.

2.) We do need a box to box midfielder but as moyes keeps saying he thinks that player or players will be arriving in the summer. If we could get mata as well as a box to box midfielder and a left back and centre back for 100-120 million we would be in an extremely strong position going into next season.

3.) Thoughts, at the moment we need a lot. that's not only incomings either, outgoings too. I think i'll agree with Ed002 when I say its a transitional period of a few transfer windows.

Mata would clearly improve almost any squad, whether he fits our style of play or not is yet to be seen. Moyes has yet to mark his stamp on this team, as he can only do limited things with players he was provided with. Once he brings his own players in, i'm sure that will change.

As for now, I'd agree with you, a box to box type player is needed more than Mata, but when the opportunity is there for a player of his calibre, bearing in mind the football Moyes knows he will want to play and whether Mata will fit the bill. Why not?

4.) We didn't need Van Persie either.

5.) What united need are a solid CB, a quick and levelled LB, a solid box to box player and a creative central attacker (like mata) so yes i'd say mata will be a great signing if it goes through.

6.) Still not sure we will sign Mata, but if we can of course we should.
Mata is a good enough player to build a team around.
Yes we need other players for other positions but he is too good a player to miss out on.

how would you guys feel if moyes were to sign draxler?

MO11

1.) Happy but would still feel that the money could of been used on Reus.

2.) Surprised. Very surprised.

3.) Do you mean if Manchester United were to sign Julian Draxler

4.) To be honest, nobody here would be unhappy, but imo he is not something we need. Too risky for the money quoted as well

5.) Moyes wouldn't be sure he would be up to playing in the premier league and would be prepared to pay that sum, let's wait and see what we think in the summer, after he has signed for someone else!
