Just my thoughts but it seems like the team is being sent out to play the way they do. It looks as if we are playing with the handbrake firmly up. Looks like it's possession and safe passing over the all out attacking we crave. I've also noticed that Mata absolutely destroys fast breaks always looking for the safe pass or taking too many touches. He's not a winger and shouldn't be played there at all. I have been a Rooney defender on this site for a long time while I'm not ready to throw him out like some I would love to see the same competition for places that our midfield currently has. Just so that nobody gets confused I think our style of play is detrimental to all of our attacking players. It's almost like LVG is saying keep possession and if you can, score a goal. No killer instinct not many risks being taken no chances created. Don't get me wrong 6 from 2 is a great return and it is still early days but I would love to see some attacking at pace. Hopefully this Champions League game we get to take the shackles off and see what we can do.

Darren, after last year, I think lvg has gone out of his way to play it safe for the first few matches and get the points on the board.
It has worked so far albeit at the expense of playing boring football.
Will be interesting to see what happens if we go a goal down, but hopefully that won't happen this year!!

I do hope to football improves I really do I to was frustrated this season and last with some of the performances but after a disastrous start to last season I agree with schmid the most important thing at this early stage is points and keeping pace with our rivals .

There are still a couple of area's within the squad that need addressing and hopefully that will happen in the next 2 weeks but as it stands we are doing ok and can only improve.

It seems Bayern have signed Vidal for £26m + add-ons. Who got the better deal us with Schweinsteiger or them with Vidal?

Darren_Bermuda

1.) 23 Jul 2015 17:24:09
I am glad we got either Them Arsenal did not Get vidal. that would have pissed me off!
Time will tell but Schneiderlin Already looks like he will make a difference for us.

2.) 23 Jul 2015 17:32:49
I agree Schneiderlin will be a great player for us but you can't put him on the same level as Vidal.

3.) 23 Jul 2015 17:41:25
You've had a bit of a Schmix up there I think, Brad 😃

4.) 23 Jul 2015 17:50:59
Both the teams got what they wanted. United didn't have anyone with experience to lead on the field and motivate others. Senior players are Carrick and Rooney who don't exactly look like leader material.
On the other hand Bayern has Lahm, Muller, Robben, Ribery etc. They wanted someone to fill the void left by Bastian and who better than Vidal who already has Bundesliga experience.

5.) 23 Jul 2015 18:26:29
can anyone say , yes munich got the better player

6.) 23 Jul 2015 19:24:53
They can but they would be wrong IMO

7.) 23 Jul 2015 20:17:27
I don't think you can compare Vidal and schwiansteiger the two player's are different midfielder

{Ed004's Note - You would have to compare Vidal with Schneiderlin}

8.) 23 Jul 2015 20:32:39
the question was who got the best deal .
nobody seems to want to answer but i'm going to be brave and say munich did.
vidal is one of the best in the world and only just turned 27 so should be in his prime .
so 26 mill is a great deal .

9.) 23 Jul 2015 21:12:27
He's gone from 40 to 26 in a year. Guys got shot knees.

10.) 23 Jul 2015 21:56:41
mort
yer i thought that last time i watched him play .
munich doctors must of missed it

11.) 24 Jul 2015 10:40:26
Like we did with Hargreaves?

Been giving it some thought why can't we play a 4-3-1-2 or even a 4-2-2-2 with width coming from the fullbacks. That way Rooney and RVP can play up top and Mata and Kagawa can play centrally. I think switching one of Mata or Kagawa for a pacey winger is still a strong side there are formations that work with the players we have except our midfielders aren't strong enough. After the summer we should have a lot of formations to choose from to get the best out of all of our players. Would like to hear your thoughts.

Hey guys haven't posted for a while have had a lot going on. I feel we are well placed to make a run in the Champions League. I agree with many that 4th may be a step too far. We should use the league to improve our team chemistry and get on a run that we can carry into the Champions League games. We are not as bad as our position reflects. For whatever reasons the team is not performing up to standards that they are capable of. Remember we were very unfortunate to go out to Madrid last year and I think we can beat anybody. We are not as $hit as people would have you believe. The best ending to this season would be Liverpool finishing 4th and we win the Champions League and take their spot. I really expect to see some changes in our play soon to at least show what Moyes is trying to achieve. We should be better we are Manchester United we never give up.

1.) Darren, I have had that scenario as a recurring dream for months now :)

2.) Chaps, having watched Barca and Bayern, sadly it's not going to happen.

3.) With a bit of luck/ upturn in form, we have a decent chance against any team, apart from Bayern. They're just on a different level, not even sure we play the same sport

4.) AJH, I'm not going to be getting lucky with Jessica Alba any time soon either, but if the likelihood of something happening determines what I can dream about, what's the point? :)

5.) I don't agree AJH I think if we can gain some confidence and start playing some good football we are a threat to any team. They are not unbeatable and it doesn't have to be pretty. Even Arsenal created chances against Bayern and with better strikers they may have gotten more out of the game. Dare to dream. Jessica Alba good call Stevie.

6.) You never know in a cup competition, the best team doesn't always win, look at porto and liverpool. With a bit of look and an upturn in form, not forgetting we have looked pretty good in europe this season. But if I'm totally honest thinking about what the midfields of bayern, barcelona and dortmund would do to ours at the moment isn't a nice thought.
But while we still in it we have a chance.
Imagine winning it after the season we've had, unlikely but a great thought.

7.) Home is crucial in the Champions League knockout stages not conceading a goal at home is like scoring away

8.) Jessica Alba is someone nobody would turn down

9.) I know Barcelona play attractive football, but everyone getting "wood" over their left back? Calm down lads :)

10.) Well, a man can certaily dream. Even if this dream is just out of their depth.

CL qualification is almost impossible for us and winning it is just mad even to think about it.

But a man can dream.

Bayern, Barcelona and Dortmund can easily beat us any day. We can damage a little, but nothing special.

My friends we have one of the worst football of the Europe elite teams right now and if we think that we just need motivation to beat them, then we need to ask anyone else who faced Bayern this season how it feels like.

11.) What about Daniel Alaba, StevieK? He could be a dream left back for us.

12.) Both Bayern and Barca games were dramatically affected by the red cards. As Paddy pointed out clean sheets at home and or away goals tend to make big difference. God knows we have had many great teams over the years and for knocked out on away goal rules.

13.) Well, we couldn't eliminate Sunderland in both ends, so it speaks for itself.

One thing is being positive and other very different is to be able to beat Bayern and Barca in both hands. Both teams can beat us so easy at Old Trafford or anywhere else.

You guys are the ones who always talk about our very poor team. This season is a write off.

Lets be honest with ourselves we can't handle the high pressure that Bayern makes in 180minutes without conceding 2-4 goals.

Well opinions are opinions.

14.) RMG, cheers for putting the idea in my head. If I'm dreaming about Jessica tonight, and David Alaba walks in at an inopportune moment, I'll know who to blame.

15.) Stevie is dreaming about threesomes now

Can't remember if playing in Champions League qualifiers means that the player is cup tied can anyone help me out?

Darren_Bermuda

1.) I'm pretty confident that Qual's do not rule you out. Its a Clean slate as it were when the actual comp starts. Like Yellow cards etc do not carry either

Really think that if the midfield is improved Rooney will be able to hold his position instead of dropping deep looking for the ball. Just a theory but if we have midfielders that pose a threat and can pass the ball forward it will help all of our forward players. I expect next season we will look much better than the last 2-3 seasons.

For the captain of the club to carry on like this is a let down. Thanks for his time but to do everything so public while we are struggling leaves a bad taste in my mouth. He could have done everything quietly and announced it after the season finished. Very disappointing behavior
