Reports a late loan move Debuchy from Arsenal was blocked and he's gone to Bordeaux.

Do we actually think the club are going to give Mourinho an open wallet for new players as they did LvG or do you think they will be a bit tighter with funds and make him try and get the best out of what he's got with maybe just 2 new signings?

RayUnited

1.) 24 May 2016 12:06:21
Ray,

LVG didn't have an open wallet, he will have been working to a budget, that is how businesses work. I imagine Mourinho will be backed in the transfer market.

2.) 24 May 2016 12:31:06
The club have to back him to the hilt; and I think they will.

3.) 24 May 2016 12:33:52
The squad needs some serious work. They'll back him, they'll give him whatever he wants to get the club back challenging. If they don't all those commercial contracts will start to disappear and devalue.

4.) 24 May 2016 12:41:52
We can't afford to let other teams get ahead of ourselves, which is already happening.

2xcbs a RW DM and a forward would be really good. Although I think DDG will unfortunately end up at RM.

5.) 24 May 2016 13:10:37
I think one Cb is on the cards for sure, would love to see varrane come in. I also think Zlatan is a no brainer. A top right winger and a creative midfielder I reckon will have us challenging.

If DDG really does go, i hope we skin Madrid for a ton of money but something tells me he is staying.

6.) 24 May 2016 13:28:15
I'm with you on that X Files. Varane and Zlatan are definitely doable. Also I am backing kroos, just a hunch. All depends on Madrid transfer, who they can sign etc.

It will be interesting to see how Mourinho will handle the DDG situation because by all accounts, he was definitely on the way out.

A winger, I really don't know. Mahrez would be my no.1 choice. He seems to have it all, however I suspect Mourinho will have all his own targets.

7.) 24 May 2016 13:44:05
I hope they have earmarked 60- 70 mill for CBs . one big name maybe Varane and then someone like Dragovic / Garay -.

8.) 24 May 2016 15:14:04
He will have at least £200m at his disposal.

9.) 24 May 2016 15:39:53
We should go all out to bring in Varane and Pogba - Woody get that cheque book out now!

10.) 24 May 2016 16:06:14
He wanted Stones, Pogba and Griezmann last summer at Chelsea, I can see him sticking with those targets plus potentially 2-3 more. Mourinho won't mess about wanting to have a look at players, he'll already know who he's keeping and who's going.

18 Jan 2016 07:32:11
Is it me or does this seem to be the most boring transfer window to date?

RayUnited

1.) 18 Jan 2016 08:19:20
January is always like this to be honest, it's usually the smaller teams who make signings to help them through the rest of the season.

We might be lucky and sign one player, I don't know who though.

2.) 18 Jan 2016 09:36:34
January is generally a quiet window, although Barcelona did sign the odd 1 or 77 players. Lol.

If anything happens in January it tends to be the last week.

3.) 18 Jan 2016 17:11:26
Yes I know it's obviously not like a summer transfer window by with the Madrid clubs ban and teams struggling like ourselves Liverpool and Southampton there might have a been a bit more business than usual. There just doesn't even seem to be many rumours.

29 Sep 2015 21:52:30
People keep saying about EPL being over rated and that's why teams are struggling in the champions league.
I can't help but think it's because the Tv money and other monies shared out by league is helping making all the middle table sides in the Prem a lot stronger. Look at Spain where Barca and Real get there own mega deals and the rest of the league feed off what's left. I think the bigger teams in other countries are helped stay big whereas In England they want everybody to get a fair crack.
Now my point is, I actually think the premier league has got even stronger and therefore making it harder for English sides to rest/change their best players at all times because they need their strongest sides nearly every league game.
Then look at Barca and Bayern Juventus etc and they seem to be able to rest players with games coming up in the champions league and usually have their league's wrapped up that early they can save their strongest 11 for the big games in all the cup run ins.
How does this relate to United? I just hope we have kept enough players to cope with the champions league. I think we will get out of the group but think as we start picking up injuries and suspensions we will drop off. The premier league is that good now I think you need a Real big Squad full of quality to challenge on all four fronts. I'm not sure ours will cope.

RayUnited

{Ed007's Note - Are you judging the EPL's quality by the standard of player or their price? The problem lies in the overall quality of the EPL which is very poor compared to La Liga and the Bundesliga. Even Serie A is catching up with England league wise and is miles ahead of you in Europe.}

1.) 29 Sep 2015 22:21:04
I Don't agree.I suggest you take a look at the La Liga Table and it is not a 2 team league. Bayern are loaded and have such a deep squad with great players and hence why they are ahead of the rest in Germany.

Tomm we will see 2 german sides so that should tell us where the rest of the pl stands and the so called german minnows :)

2.) 30 Sep 2015 11:01:29
I agree, GCU.

The PL is the strongest league. That is the reason for the poor performances. Barca, Real, Bayern and PSG are not having to fight and work their rollocks off week in week out; that is the difference. The quality of player in the PL is as good as any of the top leagues.

I still think one or two PL clubs will get to the latter stages.

Olympiakos, for example, are miles ahead of the competition in their own league so they are not exerting as much energy. Thus they are physically and mentally re-charged. Compared that to Arsenal, who put in a shift at Leicester, and yesterdays result was not such a surprise.

3.) 30 Sep 2015 11:34:52
You guys are a unbelievable and find an excuse for everything. The rest of Europe also plays every weekend and according to you guys they are having tea at a cricket game, because they stroll around and stop to watch the birds and occasionally kick a ball. Stop making excuses the PL teams, they are not that good and being shown up by the so called european no bodies.

That Bayer Leverkusen team busted a gut last weekend in germany i watched their game and did the same last night.

If you believe playing leicester over the weekend was the cause of Arsenal's down fall then they don't deserve to be in the competition if that is their excuse.

{Ed007's Note - Spot on, GCU. Celtic get an easy ride most weeks in the league, so by some people's reckoning we should be at least in the CL quarter-finals every year. We get told every year that we find it difficult to qualify because our league is so poor yet now the fact that English teams are struggling it's because their league is too good- that's preposterous!
Would Leicester have beat Roma, Sunderland beat Olympiakos?
There's some desperate straw-clutching going on here.}

4.) 30 Sep 2015 13:32:19
It is all if's and but's; and I am just giving an opinion as to why English teams have been poor in recent years. I suppose the argument could be made that Arsenal's lack of power in midfield could be having an impact, but they still have a lot of quality in forward areas.

Is it a case of better coaching?
There were players in the Olympiakos side that couldn't do it in the PL, so obviously, they never had the quality to succeed in England, but flourished in another league. Is that down to culture and environment? I mean, some of the best coaches in the game work in the PL, so I can't see how top teams in England are at a disadvantage compared with other top leagues.

I too watch other leagues - most notably the German and Dutch leagues - and there is a discernible - IMO - difference with regards to the general physical nature of the game. So why some wish to completely ignore the fact is up to them; but I am pretty convinced it does have a bearing.

At the end of the day, this whole argument is futile considering football is such an up and down sport. Win's for both English clubs tonight, and it will be a different story in the papers tomorrow morning.

I for one think if you look at the top teams in the PL, there isn't a genuine WC side. City should be with the squad they have, but the are not. I believe it is down to their manager and style of play.

As it stands, I think we are probably best placed to do well in the CL this season as our style of play seems conducive to the competition

5.) 30 Sep 2015 14:28:04
Thanks Ed. Was probably better to omit that part.

I do try hard to restrain myself.

Of all the players to have left this summer, if you could pick one to have stayed who would it have been?

I can't help but think we should have held on to RvP for another season just incase Rooney gets injured.

RayUnited

1.) 03 Sep 2015 10:38:06
Yes RvP

2.) 03 Sep 2015 10:42:34
None of them for me. All that left needed moving outkeep the faith

3.) 03 Sep 2015 11:10:05
I agree, we needed to move a lot players on. I can see more going in Jan and over the summer. I think Rojo will be shipped out, one of Smalling/Jones being moved out, Mata being replaced by an out and out winger and I can see Rooney leaving in the summer. I think this season will also be make or break for Herrera at the club, I love the guy but a number of pundits/coaches seem to get frustrated by his positional play.

This time next season it will be a very different looking squad I think. I just hope we can challenge this season and keep the forward momentum going. I'd love to see Berardi for the RW, Fekir/Calhanoglu for the AM, Laporte LCB, Stones RCB. I can see us going back in for Kane if he has s great 2nd season to replace Rooney.

{Ed002's Note - Replace the entire team next season then?}

4.) 03 Sep 2015 12:36:09
Di Maria. I know he wanted out but I feel he's the one player who could've changed the game and we need his pace. Just wish it turned out differently

5.) 03 Sep 2015 12:25:28
After this window. Some stability is essential.

I can see this season being a big season for Phil Jones and if he doesn't kick on the only way is out. Other than that it's down to age and fall outs with LVG (imo).

6.) 03 Sep 2015 13:17:02
Imo this will be the last window we see like this for some time. I only see us adding 1 or 2 over the next few windows
.

7.) 03 Sep 2015 13:51:34
I'm not so sure, I think the squad will look very different in 12 months. However that's just my personal opinion. I'm really happy with the window, midfield is sorted and we look very organised and hard to play against, hopefully this is the foundations of something great. Yeah a CB and a RW would of been great but we brought in a lot of players that solve other problem areas.

Hopefully an exciting season!

Anybody think that if another striker is signed the Rooney might have the captaincy taken away from him? Taken away his automatic place in the team. LvG never said Rooney had the rights, he said his captain is the only person who gets more rights to start. Just a thought. Do you think there is a chance?

RayUnited

1.) 15 Jul 2015 08:38:49
Won't cause offence by saying that i disagree with you but it is difficult to see an alternative to rooney. Given the depth of our squad no one is likely to start every game( maybe de gea if he stays) but given rooneys versatility he is likely to start more than most. BS might possibly be a better captain/leader but again it is unlikely that he will be starting every game although i would be happy if he was made vice captain. After all if he can captain germany he can captain us

2.) 15 Jul 2015 08:41:40
I hope so, and it should happen. However it won't imo.

I know it's not ideal to knock one of your key players nose's out of joint by taking away captaincy. But if he is professional enough to be named captain of club and country he should be professional enough to accept that there is a person more suited to captain in the central part of the pitch, with more experience and he can focus himself on scoring goals.

We should stop pandering to Rooney - his performances suffer once he gets what he wants.

3.) 15 Jul 2015 10:27:44
The way the bayern players talk about bs says to me he would be the ideal captain in any team

Mine was not really a claim but a statement. I can't wait to go out and buy a United shirt with Vidal on the back.
