If we all aren't depressed enough today. The papers are saying that historically it takes at least 70 points to secure a champions league place. With our current 41 points, we will need to win at least 10 of the 13 remaining games. gulp.

1.) 08 Feb 2016 17:20:24
chin up mate we should had 3 pts, back t the wall let's goout fighting!

2.) 08 Feb 2016 17:28:13
You can't compare this season to others, closer than ever. We'll probably see the lowest points scoring champions in premier league history.

3.) 09 Feb 2016 11:13:38
Top 4 has gone. With that comes new manager surely.

Appaling news folks. Ashley Young is staying. Apparently LVG thinks he is good as a wing back :

"Ashley Young is a winger, but he is another type who can play wing-back and he did very well against Roma"

1.) He could be a back-up for Shaw. It really could work.

2.) He did get plenty of practice covering for Evra.

3.) 29 Jul 2014 13:28:35
As I said the other day young is a confidence player and the last couple of seasons have battered him. Maybe supporting players instead of constantly abusing them might be a radical suggestion but hey.

4.) MrE as much as I hate to say it, maybe its a master stroke by LVG. He probably has seen that he can't buy back up for shaw and is building up Young for the games Shaw isn't performing in. Young is terrible but has played some good games in the past as a back up player youd take him and hope he played like he did when he started.

5.) 29 Jul 2014 14:11:02
Tbh I think one of the good few things to take out of the moyes reign was he got young playing better along with Rooney, I like young, he's not a worldie but given support could prove his worth

6.) Young won't be cover for shaw he will be cover on the right side where he played against roma. Van gaal likes left footed lwb and right footed rwb. I would like cuadrado to come in as rwb and sell nani and young should pretty much fund the deal to buy cuadrado. It would still leave us shorton the left though and maybe halt janko and varela progression into first team

7.) To be fair, Young always looks quite solid defensively. i'm certainly not going to suggest I know better than LVG

8.) Browred i'm not sure selling young and nani would cover what Fiorentina are hoping to get for cuadrado

Did people see the Dwight Yorke interview on TV today where he said that he has heard that we are trying to get 6 or 7 players? Sounds like LVG is trying to overhaul the squad, if Ed can get the players he wants. Interesting summer ahead hopefully.

Guillem Ballsack said tonight that he is certain that we will not bid for Herrera in Jan.

1.) How could be possibly know that?

2.) Who cares if he's right or not but naming him Guillem Ballsack just smacks of WIN {Ed002's Note - He is saying it because the player gave an interview saying that he was humbled by the offer made in the summer but Bilbao is his club and by rejecting the offer they have shown they wish to keep him.}

3.) I wouldn't rule anything out, Herrera has to say he is happy or he will get the backlash of the fans. I still don't think he will ever be worth his buy out clause, we could get Koke or Gundogan for less.

Apologies all, but with all the doom and gloom I have for some reason been moved to have a pop at our new CEO Ed in song, to hopefully lighten the mood.

(To the tune of Cliff Richard's summer holiday)

United are having, a **** transfer window
no more signings for a week or two.
Only low bids, in the transfer window,
Because woodwood's not got a wookin clue
not a wookin clue

We hoped, that we we'd sign Ronaldo
Thiago And Fabregas too
But then they brought in Woodwood
And he ain't got a wookin clue,
not a wookin clue

Sir Alex said there's no value,
Or, the wages were just too much
But'now we're stuck with Woodwood
And he's not got the Midas touch
No midas touch

1.) Very good. I think the no transfers, no value, no midfield, has finally got to you.

Think Jose will just let Damian leave. Young will be back up to Valencia and Shaw will be back up to Sandro.

To be fair to Manctom one of the problems of last season was the lack of service that the forward players got from the left fullback position no matter who played there. All of the players mentioned are good defensively but poor to average going forward. I am hoping that Luke Shaw delivers for us this season and becomes the player that we hoped he would be.

Spent this season hoping he would have an impact but it hasn't happened. Not sure about him on the wings as he always comes inside and we are left without any width.

I thought his best position was as a 10. But he played there for England once and his performance got ripped to shreds by whoever was the pundit that day. Also, we have loads of players that can play as a 10. Still not sure whether he will ever establish himself as a 1st team regular.

Nice to see an old school rumour. Estate agents who have been briefed by a Swedish entourage? Where are you?

I think for 6 million - It's an absolute steal. We all know Nani's failing but where do you get his assist rate for 6 million? Him and Valencia would be good partnership to provide assists for Ibra. Defensively not so brilliant but short term fix. Also if we buy this Embola lad and phase him in. RW sorted for £20 million.

He admits that making the top four would be a miracle. Although, still mathematically possible, very unlikely. So does that mean, we should sack him now, for not making the top four?

This virus is a strange one, as it only occurs for a short period, when he loses the ball on a football pitch. It makes him feel like his feet are stuck to the floor. He has to look up to the sky or fall down on the floor, to relieve the pain. He literally cannot move his legs to run another inch for about ten seconds after losing the ball.

He was dropped as he was being disciplined for liking a "sack Mourinho" tweet, a few days previously. Wonder if he will now still be considered to be captain material (:

Shaw looks terrified of doing something wrong. Don't think we will see the Shaw that we want to see under JM's jurisdiction.

Sir Bobby was right, this is not the type of character we want at our club. Would anyone like to work for a nut case like him? He has the mental maturity of a small child. I told them to play like you wanted and they are not playing properly. It is not my fault.

He has the audacity to talk about our heritage. We are a club of great heritage and diplomacy. We do not want to be the football equivalent of the Jeremy Kyle show.

He talks about developing young players – yes knob say, your public bullying has really helped Luke Shaw! That lad has family and friends, who have to watch him being publicly humiliated.
