Hi Ed,

Can you shed any light on the recent Dante rumour?

Some Brazillian news companies suggest we're closing?

Cheers

JakeH91

{Ed004's Note - Can't see that happening}

My contact in the Academy has told me that the plan is for Januzaj to come into the fringes of the first team next year.

So we can expect him to play in the Carling Cup next year.

Also, EDs, are you aware that the QPR page has been hacked? {Ed001's Note - trying to get hold of our hosting company to get it sorted, I was hoping I could say it was fixed now. I wouldn't mind but that is our main cost for the sites and we pay extra to have our servers monitored 24 hours a day, yet no one is ever about to fix issues outside of office hours! Hopefully it will be fixed soon, just waiting on them to do something.}

JakeH91

1.) Jake, not that you want to be a middle man or anything but I would love to know who your contact tips for big things lower down in the academy i. e. U16s or U15s. I know they don't like to overhype players at a young age but do you think you could ask him? Would be interesting to hear what he has to say about Mitchell, Rashford, Borthwick-Jackson and this kid Callum Gribbin that i've heard a lot of people at OT talk about.

Dan

2.) Hi Dan,

Its certainly the case that they try and not hype players too much at the younger ages.

But there's no harm in me asking him.

I know he was saying that there was a 14 year old in the academy who looks special but I forget his name.

I'll ask him tomorrow and come back to you.

3.) Cheers mate, i'll bet that's Gribbin but I look forward to your reply tomorrow.

Dan

4.) Hi Dan,

I've asked him.
No one particularly shines at Under 16/15s apparently they're just a good solid teams. And they don't single anyone out.

However they are quite keen on a lad called Sean Goss apparently he's a very good and creative midfielder. He's scoring goals.

5.) Right thanks Jake. I get the feeling that in itself is trying not to hype the players up too much as I am sure that Mitchell, Rashford etc are very highly rated. Goss has never stood out for me when I've seen him play, coming back from a serious injury now as well I think. Thanks though mate.

Dan

A little far away from the dazzling heights of Falcao and Lewandowski.

I have a source from the academy and the talk is that SAF wants to send Sam Byrne out on loan in the championship/league 1 next season. He sees him as a great talent with a lot of potential.

Januzaj will stay on again at united and has being put into the gym a lot more recently to build up his strength.

Also Jesse Lingard is likely to be sold come the End of the season.

Thought it would be a nice break from the all the other talk.

JakeH91

1.) Can't see us selling Lingard mate

2.) No chance on gods earth that lingard wil b sold, I have a contact my bottom, scholes likened him to barca midfielders last year, get a grip kiddo
mick the red fireman

3.) Can't see Lingard being sold yet, I think he will have another season to prove himself first team material.

4.) Mick the red fireman.

You don't have to believe me. I've told you what I've heard from my friend who is involved in the youth set up.

He was unimpressive on his loan. And he's now 20 years old and the feeling is he isn't going to get to the level of Manchester United.

As with all things in football, it is subject to change. But that's what i've been told.

5.) Well when you play about an average of 5 minutes per game as a time wasting sub its hard to impress on loan.

6.) He trained with the first team at leicester and didn't impress. There was a reason he was a time wasting sub.

And just a quick note, he wasn't likened to Barca players, Scholes said that Lingard was small and that Barca use small players very well.

Anyway lads, who do we think is going to break into the first time from the reserves and youth?

For me I think it'll be Januzaj, Barmby, and Perreira

7.) Jake I would say that Januzaj, Wilson and Daehli or Pearson will be the first three U18s to break through. M Keane should get a PL loan next season and then go into the first team IMO.

Dan

8.) Also did you're mate say anything about Tunnicliffe. I can't believe we would get rid of Lingard before Tunnicliffe. I don't think Tunnicliffe will make it tbh he just isn't good enough on the ball to be a united player. Had hoped that would improve over the last few years but it hasn't.

Dan

9.) Dan

I haven't asked about Tunnicliffe because he isn't really a player that interests me.

I personally think he'll be sold but that's just my opinion.

He's nowhere close to the level he needs to be.

10.) I came on here to say what looks like everyone has already said haha, Lingard surely won't be sold as he is one of our most dangerous youth players he just needs to put on some weight, surely he'll get another loan spell before a decision is made as the general talk of him on this seasons pre season is that he did well.

Going to agree with Dan in saying Tunnicliffe looked promising but his passing is what mainly let's him down which obviously would decrease any chance of him getting in the first team. I'm more interested in the future of Petrucci and Powell! Can't wait for Powell involved in more first team games.

Ozwald

11.) I have seen Lingards first performance for Leicester City and he played well. He created several chances only for his teammates to mess it up.

They just do not have a team that suits him. They play very physical and do not play a high quality passing game. It is more a classic hoof game.

I am not sure if he will make it but one loan that did not work out that well won't kill his United career.

12.) Jake, I don't know anyone in the youth set up but from what I've heard Wilson is rated the highest in the current bunch? Or at least he was last year.
I'm hoping we start producing some top level midfield talent from the academy soon like Ravel. Rashford looked very good for England U16s but I think he's an attacking mid more than a central mid.

I really like Ioannou in the youth team as well.

Dan

I know its VERY early days, but I'd be interested to know how many people think that we'll make Falcao a permanent signing?

If we do, then I think its probably fair to say RvP will be leaving in the near future.

I would be interested to hear you guys' thoughts(/abuse (:-p))!

JakeH91

1.) I can't see it - at least not at the the price being quoted in the press when we signed him. £32m (bearing in mind we have already paid 6) is as much as I can see us paying.

2.) From seeing him previously at Athletico and Monaco he most definitely has the ability. But will he be the same after his injury? At 28 would it be good value as their will surely be very little re-sale value.

If we are splashing money around why not. I agree with you that If we did sign him on a permanent basis I would leave little room for RVP with Rooney looking unlikely to be dropped due to his captaincy, the emergence of Wilson and Falcao surely he will be down the pecking order. That is unless we play with two strikers. I would assume us qualifying for the Champions league next season will have some effect on whether we sign Falcao. More games in the season and inevitably more injuries. Playing with 2 strikers would give our 4 strikers Rooney, Falcao, Wilson and Rvp a decent amount of game time. providing we have a good cup run and get past the group stage of CL next season.

But RVP will be 32 next season so at the same time we could easily bring in another relatively young striker next season to replace him.

3.) Watched sunday supplement at the weekend and they had on a european football journalist who said that personal terms had already been agreed with falcao with a viewto him signing at the end of this season providing he had proved his fitness.
I suppose the bigger question that may face utd is that they may have a choice to make between falcao and ronaldo. Interested to see how that pans out but let's get through this season first.

4.) It's a tricky one with Falcao, if he plays amazing this season then I can see Madrid coming in. If he doesn't do well then we won't sign him, so it's kind of no both ways!

Even if we have first option I don't think it will make much difference if his heart is for Real. Probably Ronaldo will be involved at that point though.

5.) I may be wrong but Falcao's agent is Mendes also Ronaldo's agent. We have always had a good relationship with Mendes. Madrid opted out of the chance to sign Falcao this summer and if I read it right there is tension between Mendes and Perez at Madrid with Perez recently referring to an agent in a statement. Ronaldo is also unhappy at the moment and giving negative vibes about Madrids direction, so I don't see why Falcao would necessarily go to Madrid next summer unless we didn't want him. For me Madrid made a mistake this summer selling DiMaria and buying Rodriguez, it appears based on a good World Cup, plus letting Alonso go. If Falcao has a good season and sees other top players arriving next summer at OT plus knows Madrid rejected him why would he go elsewhere? if we want him.

6.) 17 Sep 2014 18:22:01
Falcao seemed pretty thrilled in the tv interview sat in the dressing room.

7.) 17 Sep 2014 20:22:00
Agree with Red Man, if RM rejected the chance to sign him then maybe he'll have different ideas about joining them given the chance. If we do well this season and he personally has a good season I can't see him wanting to move. I know it may have just been usual talk but he spoke about wanting to become a legend at this club.

Evening all,

Been sat thinking this today.

Phil Jones is a natural leader. And he's the one who should be the linchpin of the defence. Put Rojo/Evans on the left hand side and then Smalling on the right hand side.

I think that's LvG's plan, and I don't expect a big name cb to come in. The likes of Carrick and Blind can sit at DM and they'll drop back and defend a lot better than Fletcher.

On another note, I notice that Toby Alderweireld is being touted around Europe, do we hold any interest in him, Eds?

I think he'd be a nice little addition, and would give some nice competition to the rcb position.

Cheers for the work Eds.

JakeH91

1.) I think Jones for the RCB, Rojo for the left LCB. It's obvious LvG wanted Hummels for CCB. We will have to wait and see what happens tomorrow.

2.) 31 Aug 2014 22:51:23
Rojo LCB
Jones RCB
Blind CCB (without possession)
Blind CDM (with possession)

3.) Suits me Utd Road. I just worry a bit about Blind's pace, we may be dropping a bit too deep with him back there.

Well a 10 days abroad was slightly dampened by 2 poor performances.

However, I do think that there is some promise in that team.

I like that mata is in his preferred position and it is a matter of time until he's firing on all cylinders.

The midfield today was, poor, fletcher needs someone creative along side him, and I fear that this could have been one of cleverly's last chances. But to me what that showed is how big of a player Herrera will be for us.

Phil Jones was superb today, had it not been for him we would have definitely conceded a couple more. Maybe nows the time he steps up and becomes the leader we all believe he can be.

As for the strikers, RvP did a lot more running than I think i've ever seen him do. He wasn't great, but it was his first game back, cut him some slack!

As for Rooney, well, he for me is the problem in the side, his will to win is often our downfall because he comes looking for the ball in the pocket, leaving mata without room to work his magic, this isn't great. But i'm sure he'll grow into his out and out striker role.

But hey, 2 games in. 1 point. we've been in worse positions than this!

And with a genuine world class player in Di Maria inbound, and i'd put my house on at least 1 more addition, if not 2. Its not all doom and gloom at old trafford.

Believe in the philosophy guys!

Thought I'd chuck my 10p in.

News coming out that Hernandez's agent has said that there will be news on the Hernandez to Juve deal 'soon'.

It looks like he is part of a deal for Vidal. £36 Million + Hernandez + 1 More (most likely Nani)

And 3 bookies have now suspended betting on Vidal joining United.

Promising.

JakeH91

1.) It is promising mate. I think we may have finally made some headway. We know Juve have to sell him, but we shouldn't take anything for granted as a club. Vidal would make a massive difference to our team and we need to get this one done.

2.) I can genuinely see myself sat glued to sky sports news for the next 2 weeks in the hope it is announced.

On another note I think its going to be Blind or Rojo, not both.

3.) For me this is the first truly encouraging sign. Juventus will be quite pleased to add Hernandez and Nani to their roster and have the money to get a Vidal replacement without spending a penny.

4.) If that is the deal I am afraid we would not go ahead with it. Hernandez will still fetch us 12 million and nani is still 8 to 10 million worth.

It would mean Vidal is costing us over 55 million pounds and close to 70 million Euros I assume( not sure about the current exchange rates)I think we will not pay that.

Any of eds or anyone else, does anyone have any knowledge of what is Juventus's Valuation on Vidal?

5.) Get it done. I wouldn't rate Nani at more than £5million right now (bear in mind we were getting £10m offers last summer and he hasn't played for a year more or less).

Hernandez, maybe £15-17million but if LVG sees both as dispensable, time to just bite the bullet.

6.) Dont want to get into money but Even if chicha and nani amount to 20 m pounds that's 56 million pounds.Quite a raw deal, but i'll take it.

7.) Best midfielder in the world keano and robbo in one don't care how much he is just sign him

8.) Vidal will be great, but if we sell chicaritto, then we will be light in attack, unless lvg is thinking of promoting Wilson to the first team. I'm quite happy if that happens.

Hi Eds,

Been a while since I posted, but I view regularly and I think the work that you do is superb (Particularly Ed002).

It is widespread news that LvG has given the club a list of transfer targets.

I was wondering if you had any insights as to who the targets are?

JakeH91

{Ed002's Note - Where I know of interest I have said.}

Syd, I think you're spot on there.

Atletico are going to have some team next year.

Especially if they can get reus.

Their Phoenix may not have finished rising just yet.

He's a disgrace. His attitude is disgusting. He's a great player there's no denying, but he's never going to reach his pinnacle with this petulant, self-important attitude he has.

And if he wants to leave we should let him. Unfortunately the way he has gone about wanting a move is way too public and he's probably just above halved his value. Potential buyers can probably chuck in 25/30 mil and get a deal.

If he u-turned and decided to stay, I think he'd possibly be the most unpopular Manchester United player ever.

If we're one thing, we're loyal, and we on the terraces expect loyalty in return.

One love. One United.

Ed002, You are saying there is no agreement in place for Lewandowski.

But has said he's going to Bayern and he's very rarely wrong.

So are you saying that there is 100% no agreement in place with ANYONE?

Thanks in advance {Ed002's Note - How come what I wrote is not clear to you? Dortmund have no agreement in place - none - nada.}

Don't know if you read it Syd, but apparently Vidal asked about his future, and all he would say was, 'my future is to train well'.

I don't think this deal is as dead as the papers are reporting.

My personal opinion is that Juve will wait to the last minute so they don't have to reinvest in the squad immediately and therefore avoid a backlash from the fans.

The fact of the matter is that signings will be made before the window closes.

Everyone knows who they would personally like, but no one knows who LvG wants.

(Cue LvG's dry cleaner who's been told of a £150 Million move for Messi)

JakeH91

Whether you like it or not.

Ed Woodward, since coming into the position, has brought hundreds of millions of pounds in to the club. He's doing a fantastic job.

Signing players is not a simple process. He's brought in 2 players that will drastically improve the first team already.

And is quite clearly working on more.
In the real world, don't you think its much more likely that he's only recently been given solid targets by LvG?

Give him till the end of the window before you start moaning about panic buys that he hasn't made yet.

Once again the fickle side of the United fans on show, the same people that we booing and jeering Fellaini on Tuesday. Cretinous at times it really is.

Zidaniel,

We were bad yesterday, and we made Liverpool look like Real Madrid. But to say teams don't fear Rooney, Van Persie, Mata, or Januzaj bursting past them is completely irrelevant. Teams are definitely fearful of those 4 because of what they are as players, not having buckets of pace will not be an issue in the long term.

As for your comment on Rafa. First 10 minutes he got carried away in the occasion, he made a couple of rash decisions but luckily we got away with them. He picked up a booking and then made a rash decision in the handball. (But if he hadn't done it they'd have scored anyway, so I was quite happy with it) However, his second half performance was absolutely magnificent! He was one of a couple players on the pitch who looked to have some desire. And that decision to leave the flank and go to pickpocket Suarez was ingenious. That was a very, very clever decision, and one of a maturing footballing brain.

In my opinion, our overall problem is not the lack of speed. Its Carrick. Last season he played out of his skin and was player of the year for good reason. But he's not linked the play anywhere near as well as he was last year. And as a consequence we're looking to move down the wings rather than through the middle as we did last year.

As for Wednesday, I think we'll line up exactly the same.

And I also think that if we don't get through on Wednesday, David Moyes is in big, big trouble. The brand of football is being damaged and with United being a publicly floated company that is a big, big problem.

JakeH91
