Too many moans from former players who never managed before these days. Looks like punditry is the in thing. Amazing number of we united fans still leaving in d past. Only SAF guaranteed success. No other manager does, Not even the special one fighting relegation now. Maybe its time ex-players pundits get off their high horses.

Firstly Chelsea aren't fighting relegation, ridiculous statement. I wouldn't be surprised if they finished above us. i'd be annoyed if they did being so far back, but not surprised.

Secondly, nobody is expecting us to win the treble. But as of yet, having spent £250m upwards, we haven't even challenged, or come close to any major throphy. This isn't good enough with the players we have. This squad has a lot of top top players, De Gea, Shaw, Smalling, Schneiderlin, Hererra, to name a few, are all players that would get into most if not all premier league teams. The issue is the way they're being made to play, and the tactics we use. It's clear to see. So sorry, but what Paul Scholes amongst others has said, is only what 90% of us are thinking. As a fan as well as an ex player, why wouldn't he say what he sees?

2.) 04 Nov 2015 18:36:56
Sorry but is the season over? What makes you think you are not challenging? Are you out of the champions league? How many points are you off the league table? Please don't let your hate for LVG blind you and make you think you are not challenging. You can as well play like robots and still win the league.

3.) 04 Nov 2015 18:53:37
Stand I agree wholeheartedly with everything you have said. It will be interesting come the end of the season because everyone agreed that as a minimum expectation this campaign LVG should be challenging for the league until the last ball is kicked, we should be making the last eight of the CL and winning a domestic trophy (or FA cup now thanks to the mighty Boro) .

It seems as if since the 'philosophy' has failed to evolve (possibly even went backwards a little) folks expectations have wavered over the past couple of months and that is why we keeping seeing this BS statement of 'LVG is just here for stability not to win anything'. Which is interesting because by his own admission LVG plans on winning the league and that his 'philosophy' would have taken 3 months to click.

4.) 04 Nov 2015 19:26:01
I don't remember everyone agreeing. You can't just jump form 4th to compete for the title. The predictions competition had most United fans tipping Chelsea or City so I'm not sure everyone agreed. What we want to se is progress and an improvement in style.

5.) 04 Nov 2015 19:41:26
Erm, everyone didn't agree, I felt third was what we could expect given the summer purchases.

AJH
Maze is just trying to build up the target so he can say LVG has failed at the earliest opportunity.

6.) 04 Nov 2015 19:45:18
AJH I think you'll find if you go back and have a look folk said that they were happy to give LVG a bedding in season but afterwards expect a title challenge. Even more so now Chelsea have capsized a title challenge should be minimum expectation. We have a good team.

7.) 04 Nov 2015 20:06:08
Chelsea went from 6th to second in the 20011/12 season. Why can't you go from 4th to compete for the title? Pretty sure Liverpool went from 6th ish to coming second just 2 points off winning it? So after £250m spent on top of already having some good players, I think we should defiantly be challenging. But as I said, I full believe in the squad. I just don't think LVG let's us express ourselves and is more worried about losing that winning.

8.) 04 Nov 2015 20:54:07
Stand good post. Eventually some sensible logic.

9.) 05 Nov 2015 06:03:04
LOL

I had us finishing first when AJH did his survey but to be fair it was before city bought De Bruyne and Othamendi.

My reasoning was based on the below:

1. Chelsea did very little to improve their side in areas needed.

2. Arsenal did almost nothing in the transfer market.

3. City who i thought were going to be pretty much what they were and i did not think sterling or delph were that significant of signing for them.

We added the most players in most relevant positions that everyone acknowledged needed fixing but a striker, which was a late deal after Tony's survey (martial) and I thought the team is good enough to win the league, now I don't.

I am still of the view it will be a nail biter for 4th place for us.

10.) 05 Nov 2015 09:09:45
As much as it surprises me, I have to agree with MAZE. we should always be competing. I appreciate what LVG is trying to do in setting up for the future, but let's be realistic, he needs to be challenging for trophies this season.

11.) 05 Nov 2015 10:00:04
We are just at the end of a very tough run, a few weeks ago we went top of the league, it might pain some of you to notice this, but we are challenging.

12.) 05 Nov 2015 15:14:49
GDS

We need to start winning games convincingly on a regular basis with the odd bad result. As you say on paper the next 5 games is the opportunity to go out and prove that.

Whilst Arsenal and City are not perfect and have their occasional blunders, they tend to put together winning streaks and hammer teams in the process convincingly. We need to be like that to be realistically challenging.

Arsenals away form against teams you should beat is very good and they don't drop points on a regular basis like we do. To win the league we ned to win away games and draws are not good enough.

I reckon the way the league is shaping up 84 or 85 points wins it, we need 63 minimum points from our remaining 27 games to be in with a shout.

Btw we are really 5 points behind when you consider goal difference and I don't think we will improve on that against city and Arsenal and if anything it will get wider as the season goes on.

Spurs might be a good shout against arsenal this weekend if they still are missing the players from last night.

LVG been proven right over Pedro and Otamendi.

shikashi

1.) 03 Oct 2015 20:37:59
How is LVG being proven right? He wanted to sign both players, but the money men decided that they were too expensive.

2.) 03 Oct 2015 20:52:36
Still a bit early to say that, Evra and Vidic weren't great to start with and it takes time for players to settle. As we have seen, Depay is having how own issues so I think it's too early to write players off.

3.) 03 Oct 2015 22:45:49
Never mind the two you mentioned, why oh why didn't we go for de bruyne? He is simply sensational.

4.) 04 Oct 2015 09:03:14
Prob because we don't need another no 10

5.) 04 Oct 2015 12:26:44
But he's not a number 10 angelred. He is floating all over the place. He's even playing out wide. And his passing quality is better than anything we've got. It's not a matter of how many we've got its a matter of how good the are.
Will you not play him ahead of Rooney if he was in our squad?

12 Jul 2015 08:57:38
At this rate with what people here want united to buy, we might as well be buying a new first eleven. Ppl here want Schneiderlin, otamendi, depay, darmien, schwenstieger, loris, maybe lacasette or anew striker and others say bale. That's like 8 new players in one transfer window. When will all this players gel? Please let's get it, we have schweni so Schneider isn't coming because if he comes, were will Blind then play? In all honesty what united is going for now is a center back and probably a keeper if de gea goes at least that's enough for one transfer window. We might look again in a hanuary if things ain't going well.

1.) 12 Jul 2015 09:46:02
we still need 1cb 1 box to box mid and a st if a gk goes we need to replace and about geling tats where manager comes tats his duty to do . tats y we need to buy cb soon other signing can be done later in window

2.) 12 Jul 2015 10:08:05
I get your point shikasi but i think with players leaving, players disappointing Lvg I can see this amount coming in for now and the end of the season.
We hopefully Willhave more games than last year.bedding in can be done in stages through pre season and August.
Ifound Lvg thinks it is needed it will happen. We are feeling the effects of poor planning last summer and purchases the previous.

3.) 12 Jul 2015 12:32:41
So if henandez leaves along with rvp and falcao you don't think we need a striker? Happy to go u to new season with CL with Rooney and Wilson???

4.) 12 Jul 2015 13:10:42
Stand united there's talk of Wilson going out on loan. Rooney Depay and.Fellaini as our only strikers. that would b worrying

5.) 12 Jul 2015 13:42:21
Stand-united, i think most of us realise that rooney will be our no 9 and lvg has said he's undroppable. Therefore if we were to bring in a striker he'd have to be good to step up when rooneys unavailable and be happy to sit on the bench when rooneys available. I doubt youll be able to find one who fits that criteria so why not give wilson a bigger role. He will definitely be better from the experience and he has all the attributes

6.) 12 Jul 2015 15:04:24
I'm more than happy for Wilson to given a role. But it's still not enough. You can't compete in all 4 competitions with that. Remember fergi always used to say you need 4.

Say Rooney got a 2 month injury , what happens then?

7.) 12 Jul 2015 16:00:55
Fergie always used to say he needed 4 because we played with two up top this needing neccessary cover but with us only playing one up top ( in my opinion) two strikers will be enough

Also on the injury bit, that's part and parcel of the game. Rooney could as likely get a two month injury as stay fit for the whole season

People seem to neglect how good wilson could potentially be if given the oppurtunity. If we sign another striker that really only limits wilson to the odd league cup game and a substitue appearance here and there as well as the u21 level where he's likely to stagnate rather than progress at a leave which is clearly too easy for him

8.) 12 Jul 2015 16:24:01
I'm sorry but still playing 1 up top you need at least 3. Two strikers is just not enough. An injury, no form. Suspension, any your in the ship canal! Look how Liverpool struggled without the firepower last year. We didn't score enough goals last season as it is. That was with falcao and rvp too

25 Jun 2015 12:30:48
So, this is how it goes Ramos to United, Otamendi to Real Madrid. My oh my how I wish we could get both, our defense will be the best in the league then. But if wishes were horses beggars will ride.

shikashi

1.) 25 Jun 2015 13:03:37
And keep De Gea!

23 Jun 2015 09:19:42
Apparently United are in for Fabinho, please what exactly do we know about him, is he an upgrade to what we already have and is he any better than the Southampton clyne linked to us before?

shikashi

1.) 23 Jun 2015 12:55:38
It's an interesting one. Only 21, got his whole career ahead of him and highly rated in France.

That's all I know!

Maze, you think United won't be in the mix? What if the end up winning the league, what will be your opinion then?

Fresh, is AFCON happening in January? Is the tournament played every year? I hate it when people use AFCON as an excuse.

Maze, how can you say Man Utd have an easier group to Man city? Aside Juventus who else is strong in Man city's group?

Hope to remind you that this is football and not basket ball so there's no easier team in champions league and there's nothing like walking a group. If it's so, Chelsea should be walking there group now.

It's not always that way, heard even under Sir Alex United hardly won a Russian team. So what's all this about walking a group. Wolfsburg was the second best team in Germany last season, PSV were the champions I guess and CSK Moscow were the second too. So why do you think you should walk these teams?

Accepted you hate LVG style of foot ball but my brother, no team is a walk over in football. Some times when I read your post I keep thinking to myself how does this guy watch football?
