Question is united fans. If you were not to finish 4th, would you rather finish 7th and not qualify for Europa league? Playing on Thursdays nights, look at the effects it's had on Swansea and spurs.

Valley-gooner

1.) Absolutely.

2.) That is what I have been thinking. 7th would be better than Thursday night football. if it becomes clear that 4th is gone, okay youth and the let the chips fall where they may.

3.) In bridge having 7 trumps between partners is known as a Moysian fit. 7th seems prophetically appropriate.

4.) No, we should always be looking to get as high up the table as possible.

5.) This question is totally rubbish. Even if we are going for thursday football, we will out of the cup in first 2 or 3 matches so it's not a problem.

On the contrary may be Moyes will be aiming for Quadruple!

6.) Europa League winner qualifies for Champions League now.

7.) If we were to finish 7th and miss Europe then at least if moyes was to strengthen in the summer we could focus on the league, in a similar manner to Liverpool are this season.

8.) Terrible question, United finishing in a position which would grant Europa League football next season would be better than finishing in 7th.

The money gained from finishing in an advanced position in the league alone would be good enough, It would give us a chance to use other players, younger players and possible send United to parts of Europe they have not been in ages.

Plus even Europa League attracts some players. Yes it would give us more games a season but I know if I was a player and I seen that many games in a season I would be pumped and raring to go.

9.) How about qualifying for the Europa League, buying a load of top players and then winning the Europa League?

Its something a bit different isn't it?

I think u lads are starting to realise moyes just isn't up to it. I'm an arsenal fan and can blatantly see he's too negative. Awful tactics and subs. Why would u put Rooney in midfield if your chasing the game? He's not a good enough manager for Manchester United. He doesn't have the managerial ability or presence for your club. Can get players motivated. U can sign whoever u want. Unless u can manage the players and play them in their right position and tactics to suit them, they won't make any difference. I.e mata.

Valley-gooner

1.) Totally agree, we always go 4-4-2 and in this day and age it won't work,

An interchangeable 3 of mata, Rooney and Januzaj behind rvp would work for me, set up like Chelsea. There's no point in trying to cross all the time when it's clearly not working

2.) I think you're right, really poor decisions by Moyes today. But it has happened to many times before as well.I want to support Moyes but he's showing really negative signs.Personally, I would give him time to build his own team and if by May 2015 we haven't at least got close to winning the epl title (3rd-1st place)then I'd sack him.I think managers nowadays should be considered lucky if they are give 2 years time to put things right.

3.) Good evening to all United fans.
Woeful display on the pitch today. Did not see many positives regarding the match and even with Mata's transfer and enthusiasm, I do not see a strong finish to the season.
Do not understand the comments that fans make regarding potential transfer targets not being United quality. Yes, many other teams strenthened their sides since last year, and also, since SAF retired, the team has not played well. With SAF, based on last year's results, I believe the team overachieved based on results compared to this year. And during the transfer window, statements, if true, pertaining to top class players queuing up to sign for United were stated, which I hope are true. Possibly, their are verbal agreements for high calibre players to join next summer, but what are the options if the squad does not qualify for the champions league? Will players desire to join up to a squad deemed to be a project? Numerous posts have stated that transfer targets were not available due to availability, price, etc. but what exists regarding plan b & c if cutie targets are not available?
Today's performance on the pitch was inadequate and could get much worse before the end of the season.
Great tradition and performances breed success, but in several months utter disaster has plaques the team. Are supporters content with performances such as today? We did not lose to a top squad but seem to be self-defeating.
United forever

4.) And a lot of us agree with that view.

Lookin forward to out game on the 12th of feb now. Obviously mata will give you and your team morale a lift like ozil did to us. If u can get one more in and keep rvp and rooney fit I think you could nick 4th. If we play to our full potential I think we will beat you. Your defense still looks shaky and no dominant midfielder against ours, we should have the upper hand. Anyway as much as I can't stand united.good luck for the rest of the season. Hopefully we can nick it ahead of city and chelski, however unlikely it looks.

Valley-gooner

1.) Lol u must be getting worried, I really dnt care who wins the league of it ain't us tbh (other than liverpool obviously) however would prob rather ure lot than most.
Gd luck u are prob going to need it.

2.) I too would rather Arsenal won the league if we don't - but have a feeling we will beat you in Feb. Rooney and RVP will both be back by then and there may well be more signings in the next week.

Now I know we haven't won a trophy in 8 years before you come out with that cliche. I'm trying to recall out darkest days. And I don't think there nowhere near as bad as you are now. It's not like we went from invincibles to 5th either. We finished 2nd and won the fa.cup the following year. u can laugh at arsenal no trophy haha bla bla bla. Fact of the matter is your a bigger joke than what we were. Uve gone from champions to a average team at best! That's why every football fan is laughing. How bad it has been. And don't blame it all on moyes. This is the team that won the league last year. Moyes doesn't do a great job inspiring them. But still they should wear the shirt with pride! Mata is a brilliant signing but for me this just spells the end of rooney in the summer. 37m is fat too steep for a player that sits on the bench. Oh yeah final note. Vito mannone, hero!

Valley-gooner

1.) Come back when you win something, pretty boring post. Arsenal will go another year without winning anything this year too.

2.) Will you be back on here apologising AGAIN when you sober up?

3.) 8 years of bottled bitterness.

Do you not think it's funny that our worst team in years won the league last year when your beloved great Arsenal were scraping fourth?

Rooney and RVP have been injured for most the season, soon as we get them back you'll see how much difference it makes.

4.) But the matter of the fact is. You haven't won a trophy in 8 years. You spent 42 mil on a player that everyone thought would take the league by storm, but who has been average at best. 37 mil on a player who has more assists than RVP and Rooney in this league over the past few years? Why the hell not.

5.) It's hard to feel slighted by someone who doesn't have the basic grasp of articles or spelling. Come back when you have passed your GCSE English test (with an A-C grade).

6.) When you are celebrating because an ex goalkeeper has more chance of winning a trophy than your own team you know you are in trouble.

Laughing at us? We are Manchester United, you keep laughing we will keep winning trophies. This came across as one of the most bitter posts I have ever read, you might be laughing at us but I pity you.

7.) Honestly I bet there are gooners reading your post ans cringing mate, u obviously have the IQ of a gnat. The season is not even finished yet u muppet, how do u know we will finish 5th? Think before u post!

8.) We bought your best player because we're a bigger club than you.

He won the title in his first season.

9 years.

:)

9.) I am sure it's of great pleasure for countless millions to watch United implode, but, honestly, if you want to see a cliche, the just look at your own email.

Blah, blah, blah, we've heard it all before and we're fully aware of where we are. Enjoy it while you can.

10.) Lol, you sound bitter.

Still almost a decade and counting, trophyless. Any amount of bravado on Your behalf won't change that.

37m too much for an unwanted player? Perhaps so, still less than 42m for an unwanted player though ain't it? :D

Will you come back on later and apologise for your post like you did last time? That was funny.

11.) Nice and punctual. As expected from an Arsenal fan. You are like an Oracle, I believe all us united to stop and take note of your drunken prophecies.

12.) You're absolutely right. We are crap. And I've been here to see really rubbish teams in the past 45 years.
But two things to remember, we might be crap this season, but the club will sort it out.
Secondly, you've won nothing for 8.1/2 years and before you start mouthing off, I suggest you wait till the end of season!

13.) Arsenal have struggled to secure fourth place for the past few seasons. I think this year we will just about manage it. I see your point that our decline has been both sudden and drastic whilst yours has been more gradual - but by that logic our problems should be easier to fix.

I think this season we have seen a classic example of; 'The bigger they are - the harder they fall'. Expect us to get up again in time for next season though!

14.) I'd say the pinnacle of embarrassment is getting absolutely rogered 8-2 to one of your biggest rivals. However not going to pretend I am happy with the current situation, no United fan is. It says a lot about how much success we have had that so many football fans are revelling in our bad times. It will just make the next title we win (and we will) that much sweeter. As for Mata he is a world class player, the cost is irrelevant if he performs to the level he has constantly hit since coming to the Premier League. I wouldn't begin to blame Moyes as that would be short sighted. Now I've given you an honest answer to what was clearly a post that was just intended to wind-up, you've used your opinion as fact etc. If you come back here on the wind-up without purpose again I'm going to give you play by play commentary on each of the 8 goals we scored against you on that wonderful day - 2 of which were by the abysmal Ashley Young.

15.) Thats correct VG. why would we pay 37m for euro champ winner, world cup winner, champs league winner when we could have bought Ozil for more money who has never won any of the above. get back in your box and come back when you have won something. anything at all. Aresenal will not have a disappointing season they will finish in their usual spot in the top 4 they won't win anything but that's hardly a disappointment to you lot. we will have a poor season we won't win anything which is unusual but we will be back winning once we have rebuilt the squad. don't be a muppet go away and come back here when you have something of your own to shout about. Sure I would rather be competing this season but we are not. But I bet my house on it that we won't be 8 years without winning anything.

16.) Also you not winning a trophy for 8 years is not a cliche, it is a fact!

17.) I take your point with regard to Man Utd's alarming slide this season. However I personally would prefer this situation as it highlights the problems and makes the club make a decision as to whether they are truly going to back the manager and turn things around. I would not like a situation where we are slowly deteriating and not seriously competing for trophies i.e. as Arsenal. SAF has gone and whoever followed him was going to have the hardest job in the world. Just think that you may be in a similar position when Wenger finally decides to call it a day. Even with SAF at the helm and Manchester United winning silverware the team has been slowly declining over the last few years and the thought of a clearout of players at the expense of a very poor season is actually quite refreshing, although also painfull at the same time. We need to let 6/7 players leave and bring in 4/5 top quality replacements. Then we need to bring some of the young talent into the squad such as Januzaj, Powell, Lingard, M Keane and Zaha. As it won't be us winning the PL this season I wish you the best of luck as I would prefer the Gunners to Chelski, City or the Scouse. All the best

18.) Interesting how we are getting all kind of trolls from other teams on our page.

It is however interesting to see how much bottled up anger and frustration there is with other clubs when it comes to us, which is s function of having beaten most of them into submission for the last 20 years.

No worries boys, we are not going anywhere and look forward to the year as things develop. I jet hope for some of you hopefuls your season does not go wrong at the business end :)

19.) Those are seriously some pathetic reply's, the fact you can't admit that all the problems I've listed there are you proves you are deluded. But not to worry, I wouldn't expect anything else, thinking you have this god given right to laugh at every other team in the past because of your sucess, now your on a slide u can't take it! And u class us arsenal fans classless. Wake up and realise your not what was you was. Maybe then u can't take a bit of banter!

20.) 23 Jan 2014 15:08:43
you may not be happy with our Banter VG but I have to say your grammar also leaves a lot to be desired, this lack of basic educatiuon may explain some of your rants and then later apologies. Coming on here to state the obvious i.e that our team has slipped a long way compared to recent seasons is a waste of your time. as the table doesn't lie, But I reckon all here while unhappy also understand there has been a massive change at the club, and there will be further changes still, most are calm many feel moyes is not the man to take the club on, but he is the man the board have given the job to and he will have my support while he is there, the owners are backing him with hard cash so I don't think it will be long before we are back at the top. its all ahead of you when the arse man leaves you guys in a few years time I'd like to see him there for a few more years suffer the indignity of winning nothing in his last 12 years in charge.
I think Mata will be a good signing and is a proven winner at the highest level unlike all of of your recent signings tell me about the winners in your squad, what have they won? you really are a spanner come back when your a winner not a wannabe. Mind you the last time we paid big money for a perpetual loser (RVP) we won the league so there is hope for you yet.

I think u going for mata is a good signing for ya. But how different does he play the role of kagawa? I know he's a lot better but surely u want a center mid who will dominate the midfield. Also if u sign mata I'm convinced this will spell the end for rooney. So who would you rather have? Mata or rooney? Rooney all day long for me. If I was wenger I would make a cheeky 25m bid in the summer seeing though hele be in the last year of his contract, exactly what u did with rvp to us.

Valley-gooner

1.) Why would rooney leave united to a club that consistently finish's below 3rd place?
Im not saying he won't leave but to arsenal? it ain't april fools day yet mate.

2.) The difference between Mata and Kagawa in enormous.
Mata is a seasoned pro in the Premiership and has had two fantastic seasons at Chelsea until Jose came back and changed the style of play.
Kagawa is too lightweight for this league, he struggles with the pace of the game. Technically he is very good but he just isn't suited to Manchester United's style of play of the fast furious pace and power of the Premiership.
Mata would be a great signing but let's not forget the biggest problem, the central midfield area, the left back and a central defender.

3.) Atleast 4th place mate. try getting that atleast and then let us know how difficult it is.

we had 7 losses all of last season, your on that already.

utd always like to be the first. first team to win the trophy and not qualify for top4. I wonder how the summer will go.

4.) Mata is a great player and I for one would be very disappointed if we sold him to any other club, let alone what was until recently, a rival.

My question is this though - would Moyes use Mata correctly? He had Barkley at Everton and Kagawa at United. Both players have very good technique but have their talents wasted in a Moyes team.

5.) Could not be any worse than how well Mourinho is using him LOL. Enjoy it whilst it last.

6.) Mata on the right rooney behind van persie and kagawa on the left vidal and carrick in behind coentrao at left back with jones and evans in centre back rafael on the right and de gea in goal

Agree with you 1, 2, 4. We have pace in chamberlain and gnabry who I both expect to play tomorrow. The sheer fact that Richardson ripped Rafael and vidic to pieces and let's not even go there with evra suggests those 2 could win us the game there. 6 is hilarious. I've got a horrible feeling it's going to be a draw. 1-1 or 2-1 to us. Van pursestrings will score. But I expect a huge response after that drubbing at anfield.

Are we currently living on the same planet? Our defense is better than yours, our midfield is 10x better than yours, granted you have much better forward options but that's it. How u can say Valencia, cleverley, fletcher, nani, fellani janazui, carrick are better than Ramsey, ozil, Wilshere, carzola. Walcott, arteta, flamini rosicky & chamberlain is outright hilarious. Fergie was a genius. Bit would not have made up 15 points. If he was in charge you would have 8-10 more points maybe.

I'm sorry utd road, but to say your squad is as good as arsenals or Chelseas is the most ridiculous thing I have heard in a long time. Do you even watch football? Baffled

There will be nothing the mata when draxler & co rips you apart on 12 feb. Mata will not stop the middle of your midfield and defense getting ripped apart.
