Just been speaking to an Arsenal fan who works in the same Hospital as me, he always seems genuine when we chat about Football but certainly not "in the know". He tells me Vermaelen has no interest in going to Barcelona and he's nailed on for a move to Utd. He says its an 11m fee and will be completed any time soon. Obviously it could be complete rubbish but I guess we'll find out soon. Also said when he's fit and has a run of games he's as good as anyone. Rates him very highly. Just thought i'd pass on what he said.

Parks

1.) I think he'd be a good signing. Not as good as Hummels - but better than Vlaar, De Vrij, Martins Indi and some of the other mediocre players we have been linked with.

2.) If he can stay injury free

3.) A newspaper are running a story that TV already has a verbal agreement in place with UTD to join on £100k per week, don't think he's worth that or the supposedly £15m fee some tabloids are mentioning

4.) Maybe he did know something after all hey

5.) 07 Aug 2014 14:26:36
Anybody else think that IF Vermaelen was to happen, then wouldn't Inigo Martinez be a good option to put alongside him and Jones in the back 3?

6.) Nope. He's already moved to Porto anyway.

Anyone know much about Herrera, the Mexican one that is. I know jred mentioned him on a previous post. He's been quite impressive at the World Cup so far. I know he's not the "big" name we'd all be looking at but he certainly looks a decent player.

Parks

1.) Hector Herrera is a decent player, but I am more impressed with Hector Moreno.

2.) 21 Jun 2014 11:42:41
Were we not looking at him a year or two back?

3.) Herrera has really impressed me good on the and great energy, really covers the ground

4.) I thought that Caolan_2, but then again we have been linked with most midfielders over the last few years. His energy is clearly something we are lacking. Could be one to keep an eye on. Any of the Eds have any info on him?

5.) I may be wrong but are you confusing him with Ander Herrera from Atletico Bilbao who we spectacularly messed up last year?

6.) 21 Jun 2014 17:32:10
No its a different one AJH. We were definitely strongly linked with Hector Herrera, think it was around the time Sneijder was meant to be coming. I can remember folk on here being non too impressed as he wasn't a household name.

7.) The moral of the story is any herrera will do I guess LOL.

I think the most frustrating part of our transfer system is when we come to selling players. We always seem to sell cheap yet get our pants pulled down when buying. If young, Anderson and Nani were to go what can we expect to get? we'd be lucky to rake in 20+. I think Becks was sold cheap, even Ronaldo went for less than what Madrid would have paid. Now just this last 2 weeks we've seen Luiz(unwanted) go for between 35-50 and now Fabregas(unwanted) go for 30m. Our transfer dealings, in and out need a serious review if we don't do something good this year.

Parks

1.) Well said Parks. I have said this for years now & teams like ciddy are now finding out the same. A lot of the problems probably stems with the huge wages that even average players are earning at the top clubs, & even though they don't get regular games they still get massive wage packets. So they will not move but just add to cluttering up of the squad & hinder the progress of the younger players coming through. Teams like city, Chelsea etc even have to pay wages of players just to get them out on loan. So back to your question, we have to sell low to get rid of them & if we want to buy a player then clubs usually start the price from 20/25 million because they know we have it.

2.) I totally agree we should defo sell young for 20mil + Anderson for 15mil + and nani for 30mil we should be raking in the money on this world class talent that we no longer want

3.) The difference between an unwanted Fabregas and Anderson is one is a good player and one is an overweight waste.
And how do you know Real would have paid more? Maybe they offered 70 and we pushed them to 80.

Hi fellas, newly registered to the site but been reading for sometime now. just wanted to introduce myself. I won't be posting anything other than my own opinion as i'm certainly not one of the "im in the know" kind of chaps, just a solid MUFC fan hoping for the best for the club.

I like house of fun myself :), but welcome nonetheless Parks

3.) Welcome mate :)

4.) Welcome Parks you could even call it the House of Pain this last year

5.) Could we not be the fun house and get Pat Sharp to join the Ed's with the twins, as support!

I hope not, good player but 30m would have got Cesc, would probably get Kroos, and Herrera would only be slightly more. Much better players out there. I think a decent and realistic window for us could be Kroos, Griezmann, blind and Garay. would cover a lot of our needs and leave money for Strootman in Jan if LVG does indeed want him. thoughts?

I think we'll be very lucky to get Schweinsteiger. IF, he's available we won't be the only ones showing interest. Not many midfielders of that quality and experience are out there and available. If we were offering CL football it may be different. If he leaves Bayern I think we'll miss out. He won't want to miss out on European footy when he's nearing 30. Last seasons disaster is hitting harder than I first thought.

I like him but I hate dealing with Spurs. Levy will pull our pants down over the fee like he always does. We need a top CB, pay whatever it takes to get Hummels. We payed 30m for Rio years ago, if its 30-40 now for Hummels just get the deal done.

I don't think there is an argument really Diego. I think most agree he's past his best. The problem is he isn't good enough to play midfield and moving him on won't be easy either. Utd would want at least 30m and his reported 300k a week will put off any buyers. I don't know what happens with him but endless posts about it won't provide many answers. I can't remember the last time he had a cracker against a top side but I do remember him dragging us through a good few games over the past few years.

I think he's had all his chances mate. If LVG is as strict as we are hearing I imagine Ando will be one of the first out of the door. Of all our current midfielders I think Clevs may be the one to improve under LVG and surprise a few people.
