Lots of media rumours saying the deal for Carvalho has been agreed and that we are not far away from agreement, at £30m for Shaw. Kroos to be offered £260,000 per week, which may well turn his head. If we buy those 3 players plus a CB then it will have been a fantastic Summer. A wide man may have to wait. We will probably wave goodbye not just to Vidic but Evra, Ferdinand, Nani, Giggs, Anderson and perhaps Kagawa.

Paulo

1.) A team does not need expensive 'world class' players for its fans to have a good season. I believe Utd need to invest in the coaching department. Look at Liverpool, besides Suarez, there is no other big name. Sterling, Coutinho etc are now making names for themselves. Everton - a very good side - (No big names). Teams like Dortmund don't pay hugh sum for players, Athletico Madrid. We need to invest in coaching staff. Bring in someone who is good technically. There should also be a succession plan at the club and avoid "hand picking" coaches as is the case wit the current one.

2.) Don't hold your breath - paper never refused ink. We'd all love to see players of that calibre come in but I'd wait until it happens.
Regarding Kroos - think I would prefer to have Marco Reus myself.

3.) 100% agree Rory, we have Mata and Kagawa, but we don't have a proven quality winger. Adna will be quality but Reus would bring that proven 'x factor' which we need! He would add speed, directness and end product to our attack! Carvalho, or similar, is key to this plan, nonetheless

4.) Kagawa may well be available but I think it will take a good offer for us to let him go. I think if we are in for Reus then this may put him out the team but he will still have a role to play. With RVPs problems (which won't get any better with age) we will often have a scenario where Rooney is the main striker and Reus, Mata and Kagawa start behind him which is mouth watering. If we keep one of Valencia or Young for cover as well as Januzaj, Zaha and Lingard then we are pretty set for many years.

Very strong reports in Cardiff that Zaha has had a medical today with a view to a loan until the end of the season. If he's not being played by us then it makes sense.

Paulo

1.) Given that moyes said he would not let him go unless young and nani were back does that mean we have someone else lined up as nani is still out injured?

unfortunately if we don't see anyone come in we are going to be playing young more, who if we are honest is simply not good enough to be playing for us

i think nani was always likely to stay at least till summer, so he can be used as a bargaining chip for vidal but I was hoping someone would come in for young. west ham maybe?

2.) West ham you think? More like accrington stanley. He s useless.

3.) Wouldn't happen but a deal for Cabaye with Young going the other way on the cheap wouldn't be that unrealistic, young could do well at a slightly lower level so Newcastle or West Ham could suit him
i think Zaha will do well at Cardiff under ole, and will prob get another loan next season too (tho not necessarily at Cardiff)

Does anyone know how the players being watched in Italy yesterday performed and whether Moyes or Nevile are still there?

Paulo

1.) What i'm wondering is why they are watching players 12 days into the window surly the homwork has been done by now.

2.) They all played ok, Moyes and Nev are still there taking in the culture before we get the flight back with a double macchiato and a bowl of spaghetti each followed by some Gino Ginelli ice cream in Bella Italia in Turin.
Some chap told us it was where the locals go.
So we obliged and paid 300 euros for a 3 for 30 euros mega meal after being recommended the deal. Sorry ed. bit to many grande coffees today. I will stop Nev from buying them.

3.) Thanks Supasub, glad you are enjoying Italy and its wonderful attractions.

Strong media rumours that Juventus want Nani in January. Less believable reports that Sneijder is prepared to take a large pay cut to come to us. Both deals would, in my view, make sense.

Paulo

1.) Lol Sneijder that's like Bigfoot a myth

2.) I hope Sneijder is as elusive as bigfoot for us.He had his chance to push for a United move.Lets just say I hope he enjoys Turkey for christmas.

Media rumours today that we may offer Hernandez as part of a deal for Strootman. Just shows how disastrous our Summer transfer dealing was.

Paulo

1.) 16 Dec 2013 14:55:57
I wouldn't mind that to be honest.

Young out, Reus in.
Hernandez out, Strootman in.
Anderson out, Herrera in.

sell three squad players and buy three first team players.

2.) We could have bought Strootman in the Summer and saved the £27m we spent on Fellaini.

3.) Did Moyes not put a stop to us in the summer in buying Strootman can't see him going for him now, Eds a quick question do you think we will buy a back up for Rafael at RB or will we sell him and buy a new RB?

Cheers

{Ed004's Note - Neither we have enough cover at right back}

4.) Why in hell would we sell Rafael? One of the few players we have who is really good enough for a regular first team player.

I doubt we'll buy more than one or maybe two in Jan, hopefully a creative central midfielder like Herrera to partner Carrick.

5.) Would be laughable if we went for Strootman now.

Bearing in mind we paid a good £10m too much for Fellaini then I suspect we'll try and 'nab' Strootman for £25m.

Maybe throw in Alcantara for £35m and while we're at it Pogba for £30m lol.

Goodbye Guys, I won't be posting again. Ed 002 has confirmed that I will be removed from the site because I questioned DM's ability to motivate our team.
On that basis I doubt this will appear. Censorship is king.

Paulo

{Ed002's Note - No, I did nothing of the sort. You are being removed because you said you would not post again. The posts bleating about Moyes are all on the Other page as I said. I hope it is pig ignorance rather than spite on your behalf that has led you to twist words.}

1.) Come on Paulo.....

{Ed002's Note - He has gone Brendan.}

2.) Come on paulo. Please change your mind. We're a family on here and no one should feel the need to leave. Everyone's views are important.

{Ed002's Note - Too late - he has gone and we will not have him back. I am not going to have people twist my words.}

3.) Kinda feel bad as it was his anger at a response to a post from myself which brought this on.

Yet more media rumours about Barca releasing Fabregas this Summer. I don't believe it, particularly as Barca are banned from trading for a while!

Paulo

1.) Pedro, Fabregas and Song are all apparently surplus to requirements and will be moved on to raise some funds if the ban doesn't stand. Between them they would raise upwards of £70 million for Barcelona and none of them are particularly loved by the fans or are first team regulars. I would love to see us go in with a big bid for the first two - Song, not so keen.

2.) No, no they aren't. they have appealed it.

A decent defensive performance tonight but ultimately we were beaten by a better team. Some lessons to be learnt, Phil Jones is not a full back or a midfield player. Carricks day has gone and sad though it is Fletcher isn't at the races any more. Now we can concentrate on giving some youngsters a chance and thinking about our Summer targets.

Paulo

1.) Paulo, it is clear that you know diddley squat. This was one of our best performances of the season against world class opposition. I thought the whole tean played themselves into the ground for the cause and deserve your support, not puerile sniping.

2.) For goodness sake Mike B, grow up and smell the coffee. We were by far the inferior team over two legs, they tried hard but wern't good enough. I want the best for Utd, I don't want us to be completely outclassed by anyone and not being honest about how we played helps no one.

3.) Mike the boys done themselves proud but its clear to see the gulf in class, we are Manchester United and we should be doing more than just defending and playing on the counter agaisnt the worlds best, currently we don't have the players to do anything else but there's no point sugar coating things, if we want to move on and get back to the level we should be at then I agree with paulo 100%. there's no room for sentiment in football and its time a bunch of these players were moved on!

Reports that Barcelona are to offer Messi a new contract which will put him on a financial par with Rooney. I know who I'd prefer to have in my team and it's not Wayne.

Paulo

1.) He'd been on nearly £100k more a week as basic wage, Rooney's basic wage is under £250k/w.

2.) Not sure about that I've read reports Rooney gets a solid gold clock for every corner he takes.

25 Mar 2014 22:09:10
A very poor performance that fits perfectly with the way we are this season.We are just not in the same league as the top teams and 10 defeats, 6 of them at Old Trafford says it all. Major, major clear out needed and what do you do with the £27m man Fellaini!

Paulo

1.) Without Fellaini who else would we lump the ball to?

2.) I was just going to post the same thing. Fellaini is a conundrum ( sell or keep ) - I think Moyes though he would be our Toure

3.) Just back from the game and i'm totally pissed off with yet another very poor unacceptable performance.bluenoses for neighbours that I will try and dodge tommorow but seriously moyes is clueless he is tactically brain dead and if we still didn't have the c/league game then after tonight I think he would be sacked and possibly still will be when bayern destroy us.we passed the ball better than all season on saturday so what does he do drop kagawa and plays cleverley the crab, absolutely useless, and fellaini sorry but he isn't good enough for utd he looked lost out there tonight and is woefully slow.rant over 1 very annoyed and pissed of customer

4.) He is our Toure. Kolo Toure.

5.) Start with the manager and coaching staff?

I live in Cardiff and lots if my friends are Bluebirds fans. Zaha is not rated and doesn't get in to a poor Cardiff team most of the time.

Aren't Barcelona banned from trading for two windows?

We rejected an option to buy him in 2009 and he can't get into Roma's team this year.

Ginter looks an amazing young prospect, he's only 20 but has already played for the German international team. Would be a snip at about £10m.

Fresh, I think the reality is we are not as good as we were last season and the other teams have got better. RVP worse, Vidic and Ferdinand worse, the wide men worse and so on. I suspect SAF got out at the right time.

Unfortunately my banter reply to Caolans post has also been deleted/omitted. I plead guilty to questioning the ability of David Moyes to motivate his team. If such posts are not allowed then I will leave these pages.

Paulo

{Ed002's Note - OK - I will remove you.}

Rio has been a good servant but also part of a culture which, probably, needs to change. Anyway, how many people do we need in the back room!

Paulo

I agree Fresh, RVP is the better striker. Without RVP how keen would Rooney be to stay 100% fit or would he revert to the very poor fitness level he displayed last season. To play Mata wide on the left is a criminal waste.

Badstuber hasn't played for over a year, he had a cruciate ligament injury. Unlikely to move as Bayern have told him he is still wanted.
