Spurs summer is going from bad to worse, according to reports their move for fonseca has fallen through and they are now looking at gattuso. If true then it's hardly going to convince Harry Kane to stick around. at this rate big Sam will end up in the job 🤣.

Gattuso is also ruled out for the post :)

Spurs have become "Spursy" when trying to hire managers as well as winning finals by the looks of it😂.

The fans went mental on social media which looks like it has had an effect…not sure where they turn now though. It’s been farcical from them tbh!

In hindsight maybe they needed to ride out the tough patch with Pochettino.

Glenn Hoddle?

They should just get Graham Potter and win the XG champions league.

Potter would actually be an excellent fit for Spurs. Plays good football, improves players, can work on a budget.

We are in the same boat as Spurs. If anything they are in a better position for the simple facts that, they have no manager as yet, and we are still stuck with Ole the "Inept One" The have now hired a proper Executive and we're stuck with amateurs running the business of the club.

I’m surprised they haven’t gone in for Lucien Favre yet.

Love_United, is that the same "proper" Executive who has mucked around with Paulo Fonseca causing the collapse of that deal, then went chasing Gattuso (a manager he greatly admires) only to pull the plug on that deal due to fan backlash.

So far Spurs new DoF has spent most his time not hiring a manager.

Funny how that greener grass often looks the same shade as yours once you climb over the fence.

{Ed0666's Note - post of the hour. No hamper tho unfortunately mate.

Surprised they didn’t move for Benitez. Everton bound by all accounts.

Still doesn't take away from the fact that we have an inept manager and amateurish set up running the club. So you can ridicule spurs all you want, we're just as much of a laughing stock as they are.

Love_United, our inept manager took us to a European cup final and finished 2nd.

Jose Mourinho had Spurs struggling in mid-table, before they sacked him. Now on one wants the job.

Is Ole any more inept than Jose, or LvG or Moyes?

I remember that last 2-3 years under Sir Alex, City were starting to pick up momentum, Chelsea were there or thereabouts. The quality of our football had dropped, we played a more defensive cagey style. We lost a title on goal difference.

Fans then we're calling for him to step down, he'd gone on too long and had been left behind by visionaries like Pep. Out thought, out played, they said.

United fans have always had itchy feet, unless it's stunning football and winning everything they kick up a fuss. It's easy to see why we get labelled "glory" supporters.

Even Sir Alex in his final years struggled to bandage over the chasm of a wound cashed by the Glazers running of the club. Selling top players and buying cheaper alternatives. Slowly degrading the quality of the team.

Since he retired the heart and soul has been ripped out of the team. First Moyes came and against advice replaced all the coaches and back room staff in an attempt to stamp his authority on the side. In reality he sacked winning coaches and replaced them with mid table coaches.

Then came LvG, he wanted to rebuild the playing staff. He retired off or sold many of the mainstays of the last title winning side.

The problem was that in order to finance such a large overhaul compromises had to be made. The club couldn't afford to sign 4-5 first choice expensive options every summer, so they got the 3rd, 4th or 5th choice cheaper options instead. Selling off those with the right attitude and experience, and replacing them with poorer players who suited a style that no one wanted to watch. The most entertaining thing under LvG was his press conferences.

Then came Jose, the ultimate short term manager. Demanding short term signings in their late 20's or early 30's. He did well all things considered to win things, albeit not the trophies most United fans craved. However, in typical Jose fashion the whole thing blew up in his face in his third season as it always does. He demands too much and hasn't learnt how to handle modern players. Sadly he is an egotist and refuses to learn from his mistakes.

After Jose left the club was toxic top to bottom. The whole team bar a few who last won a title had gone, players, staff, everyone. The squad was a miss-mash of 4 managers signings, all looking to play a different style. The club was on its knees and heading for mid-table mediocrity.

Ole for the most part has turned that around. The fact that we are upset about finishing 2nd as opposed to relieved to have finished 4th shows how far we have come over the past two seasons. Is it enough? Of course not, we should always be striving to improve. I don't care it we win the league with 100+ points, scoring 120+ goals, and winning the treble. The aim the following season should be to surpass that.

While Ole might not be the saviour, a great manager or the guy to finally lead us back to glory, he is the guy who has reset the course and have us back on the path.

“Is Ole any more inept than Jose, or LvG or Moyes. ”

LVG and Jose had a history of winning major trophies, so it’s very easy yes to Ole being more inept. Moyeswas useless as predicted, but at least he had PL experience. The lengths Shappy will go to, keep implanting the idea, the false idea, Ole is anywhere near on a par with senior experienced managers.

United Addict, even Spurs wouldn’t be that stupid.

For all their experience, RM, they underachieved at Utd. I think they were both busted flushes when they came here.

It's not unusual for a man of Red man's age to become obsessed with the achievements of one's past😂

I don't judge Jose or LvG for what they did at Chelsea or Ajax, I'm not interested in that. I judge them based on what they did with United. Which was nowhere near good enough.
