Rumours that Cavani promised to stay another year on social media.

1.) 30 Apr 2021 13:20:30
Seen that too, and apparently from a reliable source.

Would be great for us if he does stay. Means we can focus on other positions this window and worry about a cf next year if the problem hasn't taken care of itself via greenwood or rashford.

2.) 30 Apr 2021 16:36:05
Why is it of interest that he plans to stay on social media for another year?

{Ed001's Note - people were worried he was joining the boycott?}

3.) 30 Apr 2021 17:35:20
I heard Lewandowski was seen browsing houses in Rusholme.

4.) 30 Apr 2021 19:27:48
Would be ideal if we can get him to stay one more season.

Firstly, he is performing for the team, any potential replacement signed is not guaranteed to hit the mark.

Secondly, I don't think we can afford to spend upwards of 100m on a top class striker this summer.

Thirdly, I have high hopes for Greenwood, while I wouldn't be against asking him to step up next season. An extra year training and learning from a top class striker will only aid his development. While a striker of Cavani's age and injury record means Greenwood will still get plenty of chances to play through the middle and prove his worth.

5.) 30 Apr 2021 20:04:26
I hope he stays for next season just for him on a personal level. Imagine playing for united and never getting to celebrate a goal at the Stretford end with the fans.

6.) 02 May 2021 11:16:22
I would question why Cavani would even consider leaving.
I think its because he knows a big name striker is coming in.

7.) 02 May 2021 12:27:25
Jgb, I doubt very much that is the case. The rumours are that we will sign a striker only IF Cavani leaves.

I suspect he'll probably not feel entirely welcome in the UK after being suspended for a racial comment.

Plus he has a young family and wants to return to South America to be closer to his extended family. Something many people who live in different countries to their extended family are realising in a post C.V. world. Having spent a year not being able to fly between countries so freely.

25 Oct 2019 18:50:30
More rumours today, being linked with Haaland. Also it seem that As Roma have decided to sign Smalling on a permanent basis. My assumption is for a fee at around 15-20 m euros.

1.) 25 Oct 2019 20:33:01
Didn't think we would have to pay Roma so little to convince them to take him on permanently.

2.) 25 Oct 2019 21:46:45
He's had a really good start for them.

06 Oct 2019 09:57:21
Mandzuikic links resurfacing according to The Athletic. His style reminds me a bit of Sheringham.
The problem is his age -34- and also if we were interested in summer, why didn't we sign him back then?

1.) 06 Oct 2019 11:08:08
Apparently it was too late in the transfer window for him to have time to think about the move but as he hasn't been part of Sarris squad for the season so far then he's open to it now.

2.) 06 Oct 2019 11:36:47
Would be another silly mistake imo - looking for short term fixes to long term problems again.
If we are really rebuilding, then rebuild with new materials not old ones.

3.) 06 Oct 2019 12:03:20
Ultimately I think it comes down to who is available in January.

Players who might be our first choices such as Maddison, Sancho and Moussa Dembele are unlikely to be available in January.

However, by not replacing players in the summer we are now left with a squad not good enough to compete for our ambitions this season.

Therefore, if we are to dip into the winter market to look for a solution then we will likely have to consider players who we maybe overlooked in the summer, as these are the only players who will be available.

4.) 06 Oct 2019 15:42:11
Betty. I get your point mate. But we are in desperate need of experience. Even the like of maddison and sancho are very young. I don't know much about mandzucic other than he is experienced and appears to be a good professional. We could do with a couple if players of that ilk to help the younger players for 18 months or so.
The caveat is that they must be the right type of character. The likes of him or modric or rakatic are all still capable and could help bring the younger guys on.
The kids we have don't have anybody to turn on the pitch when the thing gets tough and they need that imo. Better rakatic than fred for example. Garner and mctom would learn more in a week playing with him than 18 months with fred.

5.) 06 Oct 2019 15:54:50
Ken, I really wouldn't want Rakitic around influencing the young players. Not a role model.

6.) 06 Oct 2019 16:21:36
I get that shappy.

7.) 06 Oct 2019 18:40:20
Sack Ole. What ever he is trying to do . It ain't working . we are becoming a laughing stock

8.) 06 Oct 2019 20:30:15
Dead right Betty. We seem to keep making these mistakes and we don't learn. The club, manager, owners are a joke.

9.) 08 Oct 2019 10:23:56
I believe our team needs Mandzukic right now albeit for short term.
Our season will get ruined if we still place our hopes on injury prone/ inexperienced forwards.

14 Aug 2019 17:39:06
There is a rumour that Real Madrid might want to sent Luka Jovic on loan - maybe they already want to get rid of.
@Ed. (Assuming he can join us in the next transfer window) can you see Jovic alongside martial and rashford up front? Can it work?

{Ed004's Note - I cant see Jovic leaving so soon}

1.) 15 Aug 2019 07:24:57
Better chance of getting zidane. Not a happy camp there. Zidane will be in his toes jose will come in and pogba will be reaching for his Italian phrase book again😂😂.

2.) 15 Aug 2019 08:50:21
It was actually reported a few weeks back that Perez was looking at jose and pogba woukdnt be part of the long term plan .
Things change in football.

3.) 15 Aug 2019 09:31:50
I untimely think that's why they never went for him jred.

4.) 15 Aug 2019 12:03:25
I think the 27m + James Rodriguez bid proved how little an appetite Real Madrid had for seriously pursuing Pogba.

The fact that they are now seriously exploring a deal for Neymar shows that the money is there if they really want a player. I think it also shows that the manager doesn't dictate the signings at Real Madrid.
In which case does it really matter how much Zidane wants Pogba, if other people at the club don't want him then he won't go there.

I think this summer was his real chance to go to Real Madrid. I think he might have missed it, unless he has a storming season this year and proves himself to be a "Galactico".

5.) 15 Aug 2019 12:43:31
And yet in the run up to deadline day people were pointing to Madrid as an example of how to do a rebuild. Now we're talking potential change of manager who probably won't like some of the players.

6.) 15 Aug 2019 13:18:44
Have madrid bought well?
I 100% like the direction we have taken this summer .
Keep reading pogba will sulk because he didn't get his move, but you have to wonder what move? Madrid seem to have put money on the table for hazard and neymar.
Juve put dybala on the table for lukaku .

7.) 15 Aug 2019 16:15:56
Just saying that's what a few people on here saying. That Madrid had identified players and moved quick to get them in and lamenting that we hadn't done the same. I think we had s good window. I'd have liked another midfielder to add depth but wasn't to be.

19 Jul 2019 18:24:14
According to L Equipe, Pogba is still waiting calmly for his transfer to Real. Should we take them seriously? Usually they re quite reliable, no?

1.) 19 Jul 2019 19:28:00
Id say he is nowhere near as calm as he was. Real can't shift players and are not coming up with the cash we want.

2.) 19 Jul 2019 22:21:49
Who actually cares? You wake up worrying if Pogba will leave or not?

3.) 20 Jul 2019 05:42:31
As I said before neither Real or Juve can afford Pogba right now.

Pochettino just left Chelsea by mutual consent.

1.) 21 May 2024 19:26:42
Nuts that anyone would ever want that gig.

16 Aug 2023 19:37:38
Rumours from Holland about Amrabat going to Liverpool. Either we re skint or else we re targeting someone else like Onana or Gravenberch.

1.) 16 Aug 2023 20:13:21
We aren’t ‘skint’ but to comply with FFP we need to sell before we can buy at the moment and seem to be struggling to get any buyers.

2.) 16 Aug 2023 20:36:27
Move Donny on we should be able to move for him, would be a bit gutting tbh if he went there after repeatedly waiting for us. Looks like they are signing some from stuttgart tho wether it’s one for the sways tho and they’ll go for Amrabat too.

3.) 16 Aug 2023 21:15:52
Stop pushing this FFP nonsense and peddling the Glazer propaganda. We are restricted by FFP because incompetent people are employed at the football Club who are poor negotiators and can’t sell any of our players. We have at least £100m worth of players that have no future at the Club bloating the squad and preventing the manager from re building.

This is on the Glazers and the hapless people they employ to run the football club.

There was an interesting post further down the page about the Club potentially listening to offers for the young full back Fernandez.
My take on it is these young players are easier to sell. They’re not on massive wages and many are well regarded on the back of decent loans in the Championship. Young, talented players are being sold for peanuts as the Club desperately attempts to generate some money because it can’t sell the players that really need to be moved on!

In my opinion incompetence is still rife at the football club. Many people were quick to laud this summer window and somehow came to the conclusion that Murtough had done a good job. Nonsense he’s once again proved he’s just not very good at his job. He is in no way regarded by anyone as one of the best DoF in the business. Nowhere near good enough for a Club the size of Man Utd.

As it stands Maguire, Henderson, VdB, Williams, Bailly have still not been sold. You can add Mctominay and Martial to that list as well. Reports suggest deals for the likes of Amrabat and Pavard cannot take place unless players are moved on. This is now hurting EtH and sabotaging his chances of re building the Club.

4.) 16 Aug 2023 21:42:08
Still have a feeling we’ll manage to move Maguire on. If a club really want him then they’ll pay £35m and we’ll put the extra £5m in his pocket as severance pay.

Amrabat will still happen. He wants ten Hag.

My biggest frustration is how Liverpool get linked with Stuttgart’s captain at 8:45pm and have the famous “here we go” by 9:30pm. Why do our transfers have to come with huge noise and weeks of public negotiations?

5.) 16 Aug 2023 22:08:43
Downsie - I hope you’re right. A proper football Club recognises it’s mistakes and rectifies them. Pay Maguire off, it’s painful, but we must take our medicine, embrace the lesson and let the manager re build the squad.

The alternative is we keep a player the manager clearly doesn’t want, he warms the bench and collects all the money anyway. After another season of hardly playing he won’t be worth £30m so they’ll ultimately end up paying for a player that’s hardly used and potentially miss out on a transfer fee altogether. If he’s not playing his value will only plummet even further.

Get these players out and give the manager the platform he needs to move the Club forward.

6.) 16 Aug 2023 22:44:13

Was that aimed at me? You said stop pushing the FFP nonsense and then explained exactly why it is to do with FFP. I never said it wasn’t because we have been badly run or because we have signed useless players, I was stating facts that we need to sell before we can buy, I wasn’t pushing any nonsense at all.

Do you want us to buy the guy from Stuttgart for £15m? I’m assuming not as he isn’t good enough, sure we could have signed him in 5 minutes but we don’t want him.

7.) 16 Aug 2023 22:52:18
I think Ambrabat gets done and only reason this deal does not happen is we are looking at someone else and much bigger fee and different profile. I heard its a Spanish based player and we are making some headway.

I expect something to make the news cycle either way shortly.

I think the Maguire deal has screwed up other plans to some degree but we might see that one getting done too if we bite the bullet.

8.) 16 Aug 2023 23:59:15
Still 2 weeks to go in the window.

9.) 17 Aug 2023 00:07:38
United are stalling on Amrabat, it isn't FFP as they can let players leave in January if they had to, plus still have two weeks left of this window. I think they are working on or hoping for someone else. I don't think he is our first choice. I could be spectacularly wrong here, but I think EtH wants Tchouameni and I think the club want to make sure they've exhausted all attempts to bring him or someone else in first. we will see. Like I said I may be very wrong.

Heard a rumour that United need to see two midfielders before they can bring Amrabat in. I guess that's Fred and Donny. But it's a risky game with clubs still needing a defensive midfielder.

10.) 17 Aug 2023 00:31:00
No mate however I don’t like the narrative of FFP being used as a excuse to curtail investment as it’s a problem of their own making. I could have worded my post better, my intention was certainly not to be offensive to any poster so if it came across that way I apologise and I’ll try to be more care in the future. You were only relaying the nonsense being peddled by the Club I didn’t mean you were taking nonsense I hope that makes sense.

FFP is not the problem but the inept decision makers running the Club that have vastly overspent on average players, that are continually out negotiated and out manoeuvred by other Clubs and have rewarded lucrative long term contracts to underperforming players forging a toxic culture of egotistical, self indulgent, blame shifting, self proclaimed stars.

11.) 17 Aug 2023 10:34:42

Don’t be daft pal I wasn’t offended, just felt like you agreed with my post but said it was nonsense so I was confused.

12.) 17 Aug 2023 12:42:18
DLIB, I don't think anyone is absolving the Glazers from responsibility for the clubs financial position. 100% the poor running of the club has left us in this position, and ultimately the buck stops with the owners with how the club is run, they hire people and they fire people based on whether they are happy with the job they are employed to do. They also sign off on expenditures, so are taking responsibility for those expenditures in doing so.

However, the truth is that it is FFP rules that is restricting the clubs ability to bring in players. We need to both reduce the wage bill, and bring in income through transfer to spend within our limits. That's just the reality of the FFP rules.

If we were better run, had a better handle on our wage bill, hadn't spent so poorly and backed ourselves into a corner where we have substandard players on excessive contracts making it hard to move those players on, then FFP wouldn't be so restrictive to us right now.

Unfortunately we can't borrow money to buy our way out, we can't have the owners invest their own money in to buy our way out (not that they would do that), the only way out is to balance the books within FFP regulations. which means selling to buy, to both reduce the wage bill and to release funds tied up in those plyers.

28 Jan 2020 18:02:58
Eds, are these links to Antero Henrique real and is he the right man for DoF role?

{Ed002's Note - Try searching.}

1.) 29 Jan 2020 11:58:35
Ed02 - do you think he'd be a good fit for the position if it was to happen? Read a few articles from him and it wasn't great reading in regards to his time at PSG.

{Ed002's Note - It would depend on responsibilities - but I fear the stucture would not suit him.}

15 Jan 2020 15:33:25
Interesting comments today by Muelensteen on Raiola on one of the tabloids regarding the possible partnership between Rashford and Raiola.
Muelensteen was quoted saying
""His way is Raiola first and then the player, and not the interest of the club. ".

09 Sep 2019 17:57:33
ED002, any idea what s going on with De Gea?

The Guardian is saying, he will sign soon but we ve been hearing same story for some time now.

{Ed002's Note - If MU make an acceptable offer he may well sign - else he will look to a very lucrative offer from elsewhere.}

1.) 09 Sep 2019 20:17:01
Liverpool fan here in peace. I've obviously not seen as much of De Gea recently as you guys, and all I really see is the high profile bloopers he's been making.

Would you really be happy if he signed a new long term contract putting him on the same wages as Paul Pogba? £290k per week. I know it's not your money but surely with his form (admittedly, in the limited coverage I've seen), would you be happy with that?

2.) 09 Sep 2019 20:17:38
I say sell. Past his best.

3.) 09 Sep 2019 20:46:07
Mort. I don't think Sell is an option.

Firstly, I don't think that anyone would want to disrupt their defence by changing their first choice goalkeeper in the middle of the season.

Secondly, and in addition to the first point, why would anyone do that when they can talk to him in January in regards to moving to them on a free transfer.

4.) 09 Sep 2019 22:25:50
Get rid. I've been saying this for two years. No command of his area, terrible distribution, never comes for crosses, and his communication with the defence is nonexistent.

5.) 10 Sep 2019 07:25:05

Command of the area is an issue with DDG, the defenders don’t know what is happening behind them. Schmeichel was utterly commanding and when I played you wanted a commanding keeper. I would have sold him if he didn’t sign a new contract last January. Now we are in the last year and again are in same position as Herrera. Why is no one questioning Woodward for losing one multi million pound asset of the business and about to lose another even more valuable one?
I would give Henderson a chance.

6.) 10 Sep 2019 09:04:26
Red Man the fans have mentioned it but the club ignores us mostly until it needs an excuse to pull the plug on spending to they can blame toxic fans. Journos don't mention it as its all a laugh to them, given their club loyalties and its another excuse to kick the club and do more click bait articles. The owners won't mention it because they dint have a clue. They're American. There are no transfers in American sports. Just trades and drafts. Woodward probably sells it to them as more cost cutting. Personally I think he's trying to get the wage bill down. But then why renew the likes of rojo. What's changed in two years.

7.) 10 Sep 2019 09:35:19
Bye bye DdG.

8.) 10 Sep 2019 10:12:53
I think that Henderson looks to be our future no.1 and wouldn't be unhappy to see him step up next year.

9.) 10 Sep 2019 17:43:18
angelred. If you don't sign a DdG replacement (which I actually think you will), then surely Sergio Romero deserves a spell as first choice.

He signed for you as Argentina's number one and has been loyal for all the years since he's been there and never kicked up a fuss. I think it would be a real kick in the knackers to him to let a young keeper leapfrog him in the race for the gloves.

He's had nearly 100 caps for Argentina but now can't even get on the bench for the them due to lack of club first team football.

10.) 13 Sep 2019 01:32:41
Cant believe some fans would even come out with things non logical like yh sell are 1 and only world class player yh he's not had say a good 6 to 12 months but the guy for me personal opinion has kept us up there without him over past 5 years were mid table at best we need to look at other players that are sorry not good enough lingard wouldn't get anywhere near the top teams rashford has got potential within his pace that's it the more a watch him more a no he's a selfish player not a team players a mean shoots from 40 yards and stuff and goes nowhere think he should be dropped and Greenwood promoted ahead of him honestly think he's a better player already proper forward that lad p. s martal is main striker for me he's most clinical player in the team he should be pen taker.
