Hi Ed002,
Are the reports of Rabiot wanting United based in truth? I can’t help to feel like this is another power play for contract negation on end.
Thanks as always.
{Ed002's Note - Adrian Rabiot (CM/DM) Juventus are looking to replace their midfield misfits. They are looking to sell and move off the wage bill players they no longer want to fund replacements they have already identified. As a free agent, Rabiot will, like every other player, be offered to Newcastle. A third party has been instructed to find him a new home and whilst he could have been used in part exchanges previously he has let his contract run down and will leave as a Free Agent in the summer.
I don't know anything about rumours of what he wants.}
1.) 21 Jun 2024 16:41:36
Now it suits Rabiot to move to United, after one last big pay day.
Jog on mate that ship sailed two years ago.
2.) 21 Jun 2024 20:50:19
Would actually be a shrewd transfer unless we break the wage structure. Good foil for Mainoo and Mount. Reliable, physical, mobile, left footed.
3.) 21 Jun 2024 22:06:49
I think he is a super player. Not unlike Carrick. He's never lasted at epl pace and 29 so it's a tough call. Older heads will be required. So there are good arguments on either side.
4.) 22 Jun 2024 08:13:09
If he can play the out-and-out DM role it’s not a bad piece of business on a free. He supposedly comes with a bit of a circus around him, but which player doesn’t these days.
5.) 22 Jun 2024 08:41:29
As a player he'd be a very good signing, especially on a free. He has the right sort of profile that we need in midfield, and he has top level experience.
The question marks are over his meddling mother and the problems she has caused at previous clubs. As well as what his wage demands would be.

Hi Ed002
Any substance to Mourinho being interested in returning to United?
{Ed002's Note - I would doubt that he would be interested in a return and is certainly not on the list of preferred option.}
1.) 01 Feb 2024 13:53:50
Pure comedy if he did come back! I love Jose, but never going to happen and he and the club are so not right for each other.
2.) 01 Feb 2024 14:26:18
It's a moot point really though isn't it. He's not interested, and it would be highly surprising if we were.
3.) 01 Feb 2024 20:50:09
I think he’s done tbh. He hasn’t evolved like Pep or Ancelotti. Only place I can see for him is Saudi.
4.) 02 Feb 2024 00:43:20
I always thought Mourinho would be a great international manager.
With less contact time his intensity would be less grinding on the players.
While his pragmatic style of play, and his tendency to get the best out of his sides in knockout competitions I just think is ideally suited to international football.
5.) 02 Feb 2024 07:55:27
Totally agree Shappy. Although I don’t think he’s quite ready to give up the day to day just yet.
6.) 02 Feb 2024 12:44:35
Of all the managers we’ve had since SAF, Jose was by far the most disappointing. He was probably the most successful when it comes to silverware and results, but his inability to adapt his footballing philosophy to better align with that of the club was a huge letdown. I still really like him as a person and have a lot of respect for what he was able to achieve in the first half of his career, but his archaic style of football suits neither our club nor the modern game.
7.) 02 Feb 2024 16:00:49
Ed, who is on the list of preferred?
{Ed002's Note - I don't see it as worth going in to at this time.}
04 Aug 2023 14:46:33
Hi Ed002,
I hope you are well. Do you think that United will have a go at Kane should they reject Bayern's latest bid? Or has that ship now sailed with the purchase of Hojland?
Thanks for everything, as always.
{Ed002's Note - No they won't.}
1.) 04 Aug 2023 19:34:48
With what money?
2.) 04 Aug 2023 19:52:13
Leave him at Spurs this season and then if Hojlund is struggling offer him the moon for a couple of years.
3.) 05 Aug 2023 00:13:45
United habe bought Hojlund to be the main man. Kane isn't happening now. Move on.
4.) 05 Aug 2023 12:15:47
If we do bring in a second striker, which I find unlikely unless sales go a lot better than expected, it won't be Kane.
Someone good but affordable might be possible though. Ollie Watkins has been mentioned on here before, and while I have no clue what he'd likely cost, I imagine someone at that level is more likely than Kane.
Even then, only if sales go unexpectedly well.
5.) 05 Aug 2023 13:38:25
We have bought plenty of players to be the main man and it hasn't worked out. To close off your options and say move on is a bit short sighted.
Preseason has shown again how poor we are up front, struggling to break down organised teams and convert chances (ignoring the Mount miss today) . Wolves will be a tough game next week.
6.) 05 Aug 2023 15:18:43
Wolves will be a tough game? Not seeing it to be honest, Wolves are in a mess off the back of an awful season.
7.) 05 Aug 2023 19:35:16
If there was a team to face in the first game it would be Wolves. No additions since last year, lost some key players, rumours manager has had enough and wanting to walk out.
8.) 06 Aug 2023 18:38:00
I agree we should be beating Wolves, but games against them are usually low-scoring, really tight affairs, even when they've been struggling. Sort of team we've been struggling to break down last season. It'll be a good game to show the level of improvement we're expecting, because it really should be a 2 or 3-0 win at least.
08 May 2023 19:56:44
Ed002,
Who is top of the list for the CF position that United are looking at? I know they will have a list of many, but who is their preferred option?
{Ed002's Note - Kane if available.}
1.) 08 May 2023 22:25:04
I've heard that they're looking at Weghorst's brother Gout.
He's just as bad, but he has one particularly large toe that helps him to reach better. He's frequently caught offside, but with Wout, Gout could twist'n'shout with no doubt about the stout they'll drink when out after the win.
Gout is yer man.
2.) 09 May 2023 03:24:06
That post could only appeal to a mentally scarred man utd fan. And as such, it did actually make me smirk. Please let this season end soon.
3.) 09 May 2023 03:54:19
Thank you Ed002.
4.) 09 May 2023 10:13:20
Kane wants to win the europa conference league so we can count him out lol.
11 Aug 2022 19:40:40
Hi Ed, any truth to the story that PSG are after Rashford? If so, is there truth that he is open to moving?
{Ed002's Note - Marcus Rashford (F) has an uncertain future at Manchester United although there has been no final decision. PSG have previously enquired although their interest has drifted away they now have a pressing need again and could look to an offer. He may provide an option for Arsenal who could shift their interest to him. Newcastle and Spurs may well provide options. Right now he would be difficult to sell and perhaps a loan away would benefit him. The club is certainly considering options.}
1.) 11 Aug 2022 19:59:11
Appreciate your time Ed002.
2.) 11 Aug 2022 20:00:51
I would be super happy to see the back of Rashford.
Rashford of the past year has terrible in terms of everything.
The French league will suit as playing is easier there.
Don't think we will miss him.
3.) 11 Aug 2022 20:15:06
If there is a cohesive plan on this one then this could turn out best for all concerned. Rashford is a shadow of the player he was and although I would love for him to get back there it is not looking great, he also is not a great fit under EtH.
If we are able to reinvest and get a Gapko or back in for Anthony then this really could work.
I have a feeling we may see a few more rumours like this before the end of the money. AWB, Lindelof and maybe even Van De Beek if he feels it is not going to work.
4.) 11 Aug 2022 20:27:21
It would need us to make serious investments in the front three before sanctioning a move. We cat possibly go through the season with just Ronaldo, Martial, Sancho, Elanga and Garnacho.
5.) 11 Aug 2022 20:38:21
Just wants a new contract.
6.) 11 Aug 2022 20:49:30
This was my first thought FZZ. If a bid materialises I’ll eat my hat.
7.) 11 Aug 2022 20:51:32
If he goes……. we are way light on attacking options.
8.) 11 Aug 2022 21:07:28
I can't see it happening. As poor as he's been it will cost the best part of 100 million to get a replacement in, even then the player probably won't want to come.
9.) 11 Aug 2022 21:12:42
Would be a great move for him, fresh start and out of the spotlight relatively.
10.) 11 Aug 2022 21:17:09
I don't think they would sell him without having a wink and nod with another attacking option; i. e. Gakpo.
I have a gut feeling that 3 more will come in:
Attacker - Gakpo
Midfielders x2 - SMS, FDJ, Rabiot (two of the three)
I just cannot believe that the weakness in the team for ages (MF) will not be addressed this window.
11.) 11 Aug 2022 21:19:51
Sell him while we still can get anything for him.
If you let any other youngster play, they won't do any worse than him.
Good news if the transfer happens.
12.) 12 Aug 2022 07:37:32
My gut feeling says this is Rashford's way of getting a fat contract. And most likely we will give it to him like what's happened before.
The club is a total mess.
{Ed014's Note - I get the impression he just wants to leave.
13.) 12 Aug 2022 08:05:57
Then it's even worse, we will try to keep him against the will and pay him even more stupid wages.
Isn't he the second most followed social media person after Ronaldo? That's worth something :P.
14.) 12 Aug 2022 09:00:50
Dwight yorke is a very good friend of mine and reckons he is our best player. The drop in his form is baffling. 2 years ago looked like he woukd be an elite player as good as any out there. Yorkue btw got his first managerial job down under.
15.) 12 Aug 2022 09:30:46
I agree Nothing Changes, 2 years back he bailed us out every other game. Then Ole decided to break the guy playing through injury. And Rashford kept going too.
Got a nasty injury and can't really tell if he is not as fit aa he was before or he's no longer interested in playing here.
16.) 12 Aug 2022 11:44:11
It's awful seeing what has happened to him, he is a shadow of the player he was.
17.) 12 Aug 2022 18:02:31
Very happy to see Rashford go. We all love him for the extraordinary person he is but he has done nothing in a United shirt for 2 seasons now. Injuries and surgery I appreciate within that but does anyone really think the 19yo Rashford we were all so excited about has fulfilled anywhere near his potential now that he's at the 'completed' age of 24?
The fact his agent has been talking to PSG smacks of either pure wanting to get out or a bargaining chip to strike a better deal. Bottom line he is simply not worth his current deal. If we had any balls as a club we would be offering him a lower contract to stay or preferably just outright saying I'm sorry Marcus but you are just not good enough.
18.) 13 Aug 2022 00:59:34
If it's all about getti g a new fat contract. **** him!
Base contract of 100k a week with performance bonuses to take him up to 200k a week max.
All players should be on a lower basic contract with bonuses.
That's what's wrong with this club for years. players coming here only for money and couldn't give a **** then when they're here.
Should be an incentive for players to get the graft in and get paid more.
Bunch of overpaid, underperforming premadonnas.
19.) 13 Aug 2022 18:33:07
Marcus Rashford
The most overrated player ever to play for Man Utd and England
I would gladly drive him anywhere he wanted to go.

RIP Ed002, you will be missed #Legend.
30 May 2024 12:21:08
Hi Ed002,
I see the stories of United being forced into the Europa Conference due to INEOS owning both United and Nice.
Is this a real threat of happening or would you expect INEOS to get this sorted and United staying in Europa?
Thank you in advance for any insight.
{Ed002's Note - INEOS will argue initially that thhey own less than 30% of Manchester United and then it is up to UEFA.}
1.) 30 May 2024 13:17:26
Highly unlikely to happen in my opinion. Both Red Bull Leipzig and Salzburg compete in the same European competitions, while Man City and Girona will both be allowed to compete in the UCL next season.
Yet it is only Manchester United that are being suggested in the press as being banished, maybe because United garner more attention, get more clicks and sell more papers.
I highly doubt it'll be an issue.
2.) 30 May 2024 13:03:33
Hi Ed002
Is this the same case for Girona and City in Cl. I thought this was resolved the multi club ownership model. RB Liepzig and RB salzburg both played in cl last year or is our case different to the ones i have mentioned.
{Ed002's Note - It can be resolved. Toulouse and AC Milan, together with RBS and RBL & Brighton own Union Saint-Gilloise have all addressed it in the past.}
3.) 30 May 2024 13:30:13
Brighton were allowed to play in europa aswe last season and there owner owns a share of another club that was also in it.
Won’t be an issue.
4.) 30 May 2024 14:40:59
There is nothing in it.
The press have nothing to talk about whilst EtH is on holiday, so they needed another scaremongering story about United as clickbait.
5.) 30 May 2024 21:01:04
It’s an issue that can be resolved but that doesn’t mean that there’s nothing in it. SJR needs to own less than 30% of either Utd or Nice. Both City group and Redbull resolved it the same way by selling to reach the threshold. Looks like SJR will try to claim he owns less than 30% of Utd, but if UEFA don’t accept he’ll have to either sell some of his Utd shares. Will certainly become more of an issue in the future if he wants to progress to a full takeover.
6.) 30 May 2024 21:58:53
If 30% is the threshold and he opted for a full takeover on man utd, part of that process would be to then divest in Nice to get his shares in Nice below the threshold so that it is not an ongoing issue.
7.) 01 Jun 2024 03:37:40
Jimbobred, it would be an ongoing issue unless the glazers sell up in one lump sum. Would SJR want to sell 70% of Nice just to buy an extra 5% of Utd?
27 May 2024 14:16:26
Was it just me or did it seem Pep put a bit of timber on…put down the sausage rolls Pep.
1.) 27 May 2024 20:24:21
He needs to sheikh it off.
21 May 2024 19:24:56
Poch OUT at Chelsea. crazy that anyone would ever want that job.
1.) 21 May 2024 19:48:25
It’s great for your bank balance though.
2.) 21 May 2024 19:51:43
I’d happily take him at United.
3.) 21 May 2024 20:05:00
Looks like a Tuchel return could be on the cards.
4.) 21 May 2024 20:07:50
New name in tbe mix. Not sure he is the man to sort out the egos but would be a good choice if bombing them out and giving him young players willing to listen and learn.
5.) 21 May 2024 20:08:43
100% would have him at Utd.
6.) 21 May 2024 20:16:50
De Zerbi I assume?
7.) 21 May 2024 20:24:27
Yeah I thought same as Spenno wi5h De Zerbi for Chelsea.
Poch for United is a rumour that's come around several times and presumably is now going to start again. Better than Potter or Southgate imo.
8.) 21 May 2024 20:34:05
The manager market is so weird right now.
Very few genuine top class managers available, more top clubs looking to take a chance on younger, less proven managers all hoping to unearth the next great manager.
The role does seem to be getting downgraded across football more so in recent years. Less club managers and more head coaches. It looks like more and more clubs are moving away from the manager really having much of a say in the direction or overarching vision of the club. With them expected to work more within a set structure, they are involved in decisions, but they don't dictate or have the final say.
For a club like ours where our success has been tied to phenomenal managers who are synonymous with that success it'll be very strange to have a manager who isn't the head of the club.
9.) 21 May 2024 21:07:24
2 years ago it was either poch or eth…. could be that same choice again! I’d take poch at united all day and pretty sure he had a lot of fans around the club too.
10.) 21 May 2024 22:29:17
Do you not feel De Zerbi‘s tactics have been figured out? If you don’t press the ‘artificial counter attacks’ don’t come. Brighton’s form is 2024 was pretty poor.
11.) 22 May 2024 06:33:53
I suppose the positive is nobody has figured out ETH tactics ……. including his players?.
13 Mar 2023 17:51:01
Honest question, do you all believe that United should appeal the Case red card?
While in SLOW MOTION it does look a red, however there is context in it at full speed, the spin on the pass etc. Couple in the fact that the consistency between games (Che v Lei where Felix was fouled much worse) it shocking. Andre Mariner did NOT feel the need to send of the Lei player, however said that Case should go from the VAR booth?
It is tough because if you just appeal based on the challenge, you probably lose the appeal. However, factor in the stuff stated above, and maybe one has a case?
I would be interested in hearing other's thoughts.
1.) 13 Mar 2023 17:57:31
Forget it and move on.
2.) 13 Mar 2023 18:18:01
He dived in and left the ground with his studs up. That decision never get overturned in a million years. Move on and find a win to win without him.
3.) 13 Mar 2023 19:13:05
We do need to move on…. BUT (haha)
I’m not even sure it’s a foul!
He got the ball and hurt the man after
Just like that lad who got the ball but chopped down garnacho with a scissor challenge, which wasn’t given as a foul and rightly so because he got the ball first.
Mariner in the VAR, who was it who sent off cas against palace? oh yeah that’s right, mariner again, on the pitch that time
Funny how he set up the clip for taylor on a freeze frame AFTER cas had already won the challenge, giving a one sided view of the incident
All refs are crap, but he’s next level
He also was VAR for Chelsea v Leicester and he didn’t say anything about the shocking challenge from pereira after like 5 minutes
But we need to move on ?.
4.) 13 Mar 2023 19:22:05
It's a foul, he's unlucky as his foot spun and slid over the top of the ball, but if you go in off the ground studs up then you risk that happening.
Never in a million years will that be overturned and you just risk antagonising the FA by appealing that.
Draw a line under it and move on.
5.) 13 Mar 2023 20:11:47
I am with Shappy. They are not going to overturn a VAR decision, it would just create chaos, they are more likely to add games. Move on.
6.) 13 Mar 2023 23:42:21
It was a crap decision and one that went against us. There’ll be one that goes for us in next few weeks too though.
7.) 14 Mar 2023 09:10:13
Honest answer; NO.
8.) 14 Mar 2023 09:43:58
I've seen Casemiro tackle a few times like that this season.
I think it's the fact that his boot slides over the ball after making contact with it. It then catches the leg of the opponent.
You could that there was no maliciousness in the tackle whatsoever.
17 Apr 2024 11:13:59
Yeah I agree, really appreciate all of that Ed002. You are always top mate!
08 Jul 2023 15:22:56
He's big, he's brave he's Spanish Dave
He makes great saves, he never shaves,
Flying through the air
Come and have a shot if you dare!
He indeed has been a great servant as well as a true professional in his behaviors. He will inevitably divide some on opinions, but no one can doubt some of the class saves over the years (Mata's freekick)
Ed002, what teams would be interested? Roma? Saudi clubs?
{Ed002's Note - David De Gea (G) If Mr Mourinho stays at Roma, then perhaps interest. Perhaps someone in Spain or the Middle East. Manchester United have a list of potential replacements but want a new contract.}

Nuts that anyone would ever want that gig.
03 Aug 2023 14:56:27
At the end of the day Brendan81 said it right; it is out of our control. I will support the team regardless of the decision they make. Do I have to agree with the decision? Absolutely not, but I will support the club until then end. The only thing I would say is that I feel he should be loaned for a season to qualm the storm that is inevitably coming from opposing and our own home fans.
My personal opinion is that he and his partner are young and if she accepted him back / charges dropped, then it is their life decision to make.
05 Jul 2023 17:39:32
I am thoroughly convinced that anyone who wins the TdF is doping. Also, regarding Lance, he is a SUPREME athlete who now wins Ironman competition, so there is no doubt he could have won. Plus, he was not using synthetic PHD, he was injecting his own red blood cells. Yes, that is illegal, however we cannot diminish, knowing the full picture, his athletic ability.
{Ed001's Note - so let's just excuse his cheating? Would you say that if he was not American? I doubt it.}
05 Jan 2023 13:16:12
I know some will disagree, however I would be absolutely fine with Giroud or Mitrovic for a short term solution. I agree with Ed001, it is tough to find someone "good enough" in the January window AND while the club are in the midst of a takeover, therefore I believe the two above would be good solutions until the summer. Thoughts Ed001?
Cheers.
{Ed001's Note - Giroud I like a lot, but I can't see why he would want to make the move to United right now as a short-term option. He is on the crest of a wave and it seems to be accepting that you only have a few months left of your career if he did join.
As for Mitrovic, I don't believe there are any circumstances Fulham would let him go under.}
30 Aug 2021 17:29:32
Phillips to United.
