alright folks. any1 got any info on nick powell? would like to no where he stands with the club?
cheers

jock

{Ed001's Note - he is available for sale, he has been guilty of a few attitude issues which have stopped him making the progress he should have. Talent needs application, he has been guilty of a lack of the latter. Shame, but it was probably just a step too far to join United that early, he should have gone somwhere he could get first team football first, then he would have had every chance of moving to United later in his career.}

1.) 15 Jul 2015 13:01:19
Sounds a bit like zaha ed.

{Ed001's Note - naw, Zaha never had the talent he was being hyped to have. Very average player who just has pace and a bit of flashy flicks and tricks. Never had a clue what to do with them and never showed any signs of ever developing into a worthwhile buy. Powell had a real end product to his game, he was creating chances and scoring goals, not just looking fancy but achieving little as Zaha did. I will never understand what on earth possessed United to buy Zaha, whereas Powell just wasn't ready for the step up.}

2.) 15 Jul 2015 13:22:36
Agree completely ed. I never understood the zaha purchase.

{Ed001's Note - I would really like to know what made the club bring him in. In the past I have managed to get hold of some scout reports on players and seen things mentioned I had not spotted that explain the thinking behind some purchases. I have seen a few on Zaha, not one said anything that suggested he would be any good at United, so I am at a loss to understand the decision at all.}

3.) 15 Jul 2015 13:24:26
cheers ed

{Ed001's Note - you are welcome mate, I just hope he sorts himself out and knuckles down. He has real quality if he puts his mind to it.}

4.) 15 Jul 2015 13:38:53
I'd love to have seen the scouting reports on Bebe :)

{Ed001's Note - now those would be priceless, as I am not sure he was ever actually 'scouted'. That was a very dodgy deal that one. Best not get to into that, though Kloot could probably add a lot more info if it is the real him about now.}

5.) 15 Jul 2015 16:25:17
Scouting report just read

'I'll make it hugely worth your while, Mr Ferguson, if you sign the ex homeless lad, that I have on my books'

Signed Dodgy Agent

Allegedly!

6.) 15 Jul 2015 17:11:26
Wasnt Bebe and Manucho (as i recall) signed after recomodation (sorry spelling) from Carlos Queros our ass manager at the time? Remember Manucho was scouted in a play off in Africa Cup i think. And Bebe being an unseen signing after a tip also from Queros?

7.) 15 Jul 2015 17:37:43
I've called ole Carlos many things over the years but ass manager is the best.

8.) 15 Jul 2015 20:08:03
I know Powell he's from the area I live I played in teams with him at different ages and levels and he's quality he's come down the 6 aside where I play and literally can walk round people injured with jeans on he's that good. He definitely has had a few issues with his attitude he's not really into football I don't think he was ever a big lover of the game more the money from what his brother used to say. Hopefully when he leaves United I know a few championship teams wanted him when I last spoke to him a few months back he can finally get a bit of form together and get his head down

Just wondering if the eds (if possible) could give a rough guide line to the stages of a transfer process for a player between 2 clubs?

. only reason i'm asking is during some transfer windows teams seem to do there business quickly while our activity seems to drag on sometimes was just wondering is there any particular reason for it or is a combination of things?

cheers

jock

{Ed002's Note - As it is not transfer related, sure. Clubs will typically informally ask an agent (a) if the player is going to be available, and (b) would the player consider a move to the club. There may be some broad discussion on the sort of deal that would be offered. If the answer is yes, it is then necessary for the club to approach the player's club to ask if they would be willing to sell and if they would grant permission to speak to a player's agent and possibly even the player about actually making a move. This will typically involve either broadly (through an offer) or actually agreeing a fee and responsibility for any significant costs (agents fees etc.). Once this has happened the club will be able to speak to the player's agent and perhaps the player himself to look at the package that will be involved. Many players are looked at and discussed at a high-level with agents and clubs; a subset of those have an offer placed; a subset of those involve discussions with the player's club; a subset of those involve discussions over terms, and; a subset of those go ahead.}

1.) 23 Jun 2015 11:40:10
cheers for that!

2.) 23 Jun 2015 11:47:39
Thanks Ed002, that's good to know!
BTW Good question Jock.

seeing city complete the deal for sane made me realise how straight forward the transfer process can be when the player actually wants to move!

jock

{Ed004's Note - What? They've been trying for months to sign him}

1.) 02 Aug 2016 14:09:07
Ed to be fair they have tracked him for months and now evetually got their man.

They seem to pretty persistent in the respect they know who they want and will push for a deal until it happens. Much like Stones who I feel will also evetually head to Eastlands.

{Ed004's Note - And fair play to them. However, that post made it sound like they just went and signed him without having to put in a load of effort. If Pogba signs or not people will complain about how long the saga went on for but Sanes went on for close to the same amount of time and it was a far less complicated deal}

2.) 02 Aug 2016 14:30:46
Ed I see what your saying but I thought the poster was meaning that City earmarked Sane early and were persistent enough to see the deal through.

Do you think the Pogba deal will happen?

{Ed004's Note - That's no problem and yes I do now}

3.) 02 Aug 2016 14:48:57
alright maze! i suppose what i was getting at was how in the public domain the whole pogba transfer is and i suppose that is the reason why it seems to be going on 4 ages. Yes city tracked sane for a long time but all we heard about that transfer was the odd time there was quote or a small caption in a red top. there wasn't a journo in his speedo's asking questions at a pool party. just think our transfer dealings post fergie/ david gill have been far to public.

{Ed004's Note - Ed Woodward and Mourinho haven't spoken about Pogba in the media. It's simply because putting Pogba and Manutd news on the papers back pages will sell more than Sane to man city}

4.) 02 Aug 2016 15:45:40
Cannot see how our transfers are any more public Jock?
ADM was in pretty quickly, as were Falcao, and martial without months of redtop garbage!
Bailly, micky in pretty quick as well but the zlatan and Pogba deals sell papers by innuendo rather than fact. Since fergie / Gill we must have been linked with over 200 deals according to the media when if the truth be known we couldve seriously been interested in 10% of them. Given that we completed over 50% of that figure, I would say we are probably more astute and secretive than before.

5.) 02 Aug 2016 15:40:54
i never said ed woodward or mournho spoke about it in the media.

6.) 02 Aug 2016 16:39:07
pogba agent has made sure its headline news.

7.) 02 Aug 2016 17:48:04
And there you have it. Big difference between sane and pogba. Raiola knew it would be a massive headline.

What agent tweets about a deal?

8.) 02 Aug 2016 19:05:26
City quietly going about their business and signing some very high quality players that will be there for years to come.

9.) 02 Aug 2016 20:03:32
They have signed a couple of good ones.

21 Jul 2015 15:03:10
i asked a question a while ago in relation to nick powell and 1 of the eds informed me that the club were willing to listen to offer's. They also mentioned that it had been suggested that he has an attitude problem which got me thinking as to man u's transfer policy.

Now we use to hear from sir alex that any player signed by the club was scouted extensively beforehand not only there skills on the pitch but also off the pitch to make sure they would fit in to the man utd family and the ethos of the club etc and we also heard something similar from lvg about fitting in to his philosophy etc then why would sir alex sign powell if it was known he had a bad attitude or why would lvg sign di maria if it was clear that he was only moving for the money?. does lvg have the final say of transfers? taught's fellow posters cheers!!

ed's just wondering if you had any info on g. varela's situation. is he going to get his chance in the 1st team? cheers

jock

{Ed007's Note - I've no idea mate but with him not going on the tour it doesn't like like it. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go back out on loan.}

11 Jul 2015 23:47:40
Well eds just wondering what time do ye go to bed? Or do ye work it on a shift rota basis?

jock

{Ed007's Note - I'm a bit of a nighthawk, so I usually sit in bed watching TV and editing using my tablet and with Ed001 living in Dubai there's not much down time between me going to sleep and him getting online. The voluptuous Ed002 can be around at any time of the day or night depending on her travelling arrangements and Ed004 floats in and out between studying and coming to terms with his sexuality by hanging around Nandos bathrooms and comparing beards with other hipsters.
The other Eds all do their very best to give as much time as possible while holding down full time jobs and raising families etc etc.}

1.) 12 Jul 2015 00:30:09
Cheers. I'm in the middle of drinking wine with the wife and the mother in law and waiting up for the mc Gregor fight so was just hoping for a bit of company. ps I better shave the next time I go to nandos

{Ed007's Note - What age is the MIL? (inlove)

2.) 12 Jul 2015 00:42:11
Old enough

3.) 12 Jul 2015 01:01:12
On a small bit of a serious note why is no1 giving lindegard a chance as a no2 maybe no1? As far as I could see when he was called apon he's done a good job for Man U and deserves a chance

{Ed007's Note - No.2.. possibly but as a no.1 no chance. It's bad enough watching Smalling and Jones without taking a massive risk with the 'keeper. And I know about $hite 'keepers - we've got Craig Gordon just now!

4.) 12 Jul 2015 01:45:30
Waiting up myself to watch Conor fight, the kid is an animal.

5.) 12 Jul 2015 01:51:45
Cos Lindegaard can't kick for beans.

Bond hows your Hayley McQueen obsession these days???

{Ed007's Note - I've not watched SSN for a couple of years now and Martine McCutcheon was getting jealous on twitter. Sometimes it's for the best if you just let them go and I'm sure she'll get over it, and the injuction says I'm not allowed to contact her.}

6.) 12 Jul 2015 02:30:28
so ed002 is female :)

{Ed007's Note - Aw not this old chestnut!}

7.) 12 Jul 2015 02:33:19
Ah mort his kicking isn't that bad bud. ps Hayley mc queen is a fox

8.) 12 Jul 2015 01:21:21
Apologies must be the wine talking! Defo think he's good enough for number 2 though.on another note if it's not 2much hassle to ask I'm heading on honeymoon in sept what's the best way to blag an upgrade on a flight?

{Ed001's Note - when you check in, mention you are on honeymoon mate, if they have space to upgrade that is the best way to get one. Honeymoon couples are usually the first given an upgrade.}

9.) 12 Jul 2015 05:39:25
cheers for the heads up on the fight, can't wait to see him fight aldo now. Mcgregors a monster.

10.) 12 Jul 2015 00:10:14
All the efforts of the Ed's is really appreciated. I like most people on here have this as there go to site for updates, banter and general club chat and what you all bring to the site is brilliant.
Not sure if this has been asked before but are some of you connected to the club, or just have built contacts in the game over the years.

{Ed004's Note - I don't have any sources though obviously Ed001 and 002 have. However, I am not sure who their sources are}

08 Jul 2015 16:07:37
i see john jo shelvey has signed a new contract. another 1 to mark off the list. what is woodward playing at its a disgrace.

jock

1.) 08 Jul 2015 16:41:05
Another player we have missed out on.

2.) 08 Jul 2015 16:44:35
Its a sad loss, he would have made a fantastic boot washer.

3.) 08 Jul 2015 16:52:00
Post of the day, well played.

4.) 08 Jul 2015 16:57:52
Herrera Potter cast him aside thankfully, no need for the dark lord at our Prestigious School of Witchcraft and Wizardy, I mean Football Club of Wonders and Dreams.

5.) 08 Jul 2015 17:34:33
all jokes aside, I think I hate Jonjo Shelvey more than any other player playing at the minute, anyone else?

6.) 08 Jul 2015 18:27:24
Me too anon,can't stand him

7.) 08 Jul 2015 19:01:42
ever since his red against us where he started pointing at fergie I've been watching him closely and he really is one of the dirtiest most arrogant players I've watched, snarly horrible kid.
