Hi eds I see lewys name Linked to us again?. Where did this come from. Imo having seen lewy play for Poland in Dublin and 3 times last year for bayern in Munich I can tell you he's not physical enough for the premiership. He's always looking for free kicks etc. He's a great goalscorer but I'm telling u his antics on the pitch will draw attention to himself from premiership defenders which he can't handle. Cavani on the other hand is built like a tank and seems to revel in the physical stuff too. Do you think United will go after cavani and offer psg serious money.
If Rooney gets injured we're in trouble. Finally I don't agree with people saying mata is all that in our team. Yes he's a good player with the ball. United teams whichdominated played at a high tempo with wingers. Mata always has to take an extra touch
which slows our momentum down and this was evident a lot last season thoughts please.

{Ed001's Note - he is being shopped around by reps trying to generate interest in him. The only question is whether he is seriously looking to leave or just trying to get a new contract. That is not entirely clear, but then it could be a case of being open to either, which is the most likely.}

Eds & Major, two days ago I posted a rumour informing you that I heard from a reliable source that Lewandowski would be our next signing with Di Maria going the other way. note that some of the tabloids picking this up too.

2.) 15 Jul 2015 09:35:22
Majo, I for one do not rate Mata that much, for me he should be the one on the bench to change games and Harera in mid along with schneiderlin/or Schweini, while the wide areas covered by Demaria/young and Mamphis/Adnan. Mata is too casual for my liking and slow us alot. he should me talked to be serious minded or be shipped/used as backup.

3.) 15 Jul 2015 10:47:25
Mata is a fantastic player, but he is a little slow for our traditional style of play.

He is invaluable when our faster play gets bogged down against a deep defense, which has often been a problem for us over the years as we can be to easy to shut out if the other team park the bus. Mata is the most likely player we have to open a packed defense and create a chance.

He is too slow for the wide spot IMO, but he should be played behind Rooney whenever we expect the other team to park the bus.

4.) 15 Jul 2015 14:58:38
I think Mata is a bit underrated. He's not the quickest, but makes up for it with great positioning and good movement.
Mata if used in the right way could be outstanding, something the game against the scousers, in particular showed.
Did also score some vital goals last season, maybe even being one of the main reasons why the team got so many points, in a crucial part of the season. Think he showed us then, that he is still worth a place in the squad.

My brother put 20 quid on United not signing anyone after romero at 8/1 and he's confident of collcting. Come on United prove him wrong.

Delighted to be back in champions league. Great to see Wayne back among goals. Shaw was savage too. I though have a problem with adnan. I think he's a lucky boy along with Phil Jones, to be still at the club. Imo he's too slow and physically weak. Imo he looks like a sulky teenager on the pitch and he ain't getting near 10 jersey as there are better options ahead of him. I'd sell him before the deadline day. What do you think ed or fellow posters am I a bit harsh?.

major

1.) 27 Aug 2015 09:11:53
He definitely looks like he could use a loan move

2.) 27 Aug 2015 09:12:15
Agree entirely Major. Januzaj is far too Nani like for my liking. We would still get £15m for him off the reputation (same as the Little Pea who is a rubbish finisher but has this crazy reputation for being great after a few good goals in his first campaign (Jeffers)).

Jones, Evans, DDG, Lindegaard, Januzaj and if we can sign a RW I would get rid of Mata as well.

3.) 27 Aug 2015 09:15:52
This is a bit typical of how some people think, we moan we spend too much on players and don't create enough of our own then when we have special talent who takes a bit of time to settle in the first team we get on his back and want rid of him.

The lad is 20 years old, when he plays for the under 21s he is on a different level and has just struggled a little bit with the step up to the first team. He is still a special talent and we should nurture that talent not just sell him for peanuts because he hasn't hit the heights you are hoping at 20 years old!

4.) 27 Aug 2015 09:17:44
Yeh selling him would be harsh, maybe a year out on loan would do him good?

5.) 27 Aug 2015 09:39:32
I am inclined to agree with GDS2 here. Why on earth would you loan out one of your best talents to play with average teammates? We should nurture him like we did Giggs and Scholes and teach him the UTD way.

Loans are very hit and miss. Big teams see them as a means to an end to put there 'do we, don't we persevere players' in the shop window. In return you either get a player who enhances their growing reputation slightly or a player who moves into obscurity and I don't believe we should risk the latter with Adnan quite yet.

Januzaj was being praised two weeks ago after the Villa game and now he is no longer of use to United?

Ficklesome little ducklings on here.

6.) 27 Aug 2015 09:52:14
Or let's give the talented youngster time to grow and develop? Radical I know.

I see some people are analysing Depay already too but when you consider his age and the recent big move - we as fans have a duty to be patient with these lads.

7.) 27 Aug 2015 09:59:50
KMB - You can't take quotes from different people and use them to say we are fickle.

There was 'praise Januzaj' and 'Get rid' camps, i didn't see any cross overs.

8.) 27 Aug 2015 10:09:25
How ironic is it that JMB is calling people fickle, haha

9.) 27 Aug 2015 10:29:50
The trouble is we are not good enough to have passengers up top. We create next to nothing (normally) and Januzaj has 1 good game for every 5 bad ones it seems. He won't or shouldn't get the games, where do we play him?

5 years ago yes we blood him and live with having a passenger, but we attack with such little vigour and Depay seems to be on a steep upward curve as well.

So we have Rooney, 1 in 5 good games, Depay 2 in 5 good games, Januzaj 1 in 5 good games, Mata 1 in 5 good games.

We need to be more decisive.

10.) 27 Aug 2015 11:00:07
JMB,

I just collapsed mate, I see a friendship blossoming here, me, Maze and JMB having a little menage a trois!

11.) 27 Aug 2015 11:45:09
Well said GDS2 januziaj should be kept he will come good . Herrera should get the no 10 spot after that performance last night tho he was superb after a shaky start we look a different team when he plays. I think schneiderlin and schweinsteiger should swap too I prefer basti when he plays further forward he's a better passer his pass for AH goal was absolute sublime.

12.) 27 Aug 2015 12:35:54
I'm becoming worried. This is the 5th or 6th post by Maze (JMB) that I have been in total agreement with, in the last week.

Bayern in for otamendi I'm getting deja vu .United sdelayed on strootman and he went to roma. Just to restate what i said earlier why do we makea
a meal out of signing top targets

major

1.) 01 Aug 2015 20:03:20
We dodged a bullet on Strootman to be fair

Folk's am I the only one who is currently worried by our transfer activity since lvg arrived. I know we finished 4th last season which is a relief. But if you look at our signings during that period we have players like rojo blind Shaw who can all do the same job. Herrera good but not fully used is there a trust issue; adm never wanted to leave Madrid bad buy; Falcao flop. This season schneiderlin good buy bastian discarded by Munich for a newer model who we should of signed; depay =potential as does darmian. I just feel if you were one of the bigger European sides looking in at our squad
You wouldn't be frightened.

We seem to play it safe on one hand; and go for cast offs with a name adm bastian for example.

Imo we are the biggest but why don't we sign the best like bale Ronaldo etc I don't mean those actual players; but players of similar stature which would return our club to the very top. I just want what's best for United but I feel we are missing out on really top players why folks eds why in your opinions

major

{Ed001's Note - difficult to judge last season's signings, Herrera, for instance, was already set up before LVG came in, all he did was say ok go ahead with it as the midfield is weak. ADM was merely a statement of intent and Falcao was just a gamble. Blind was a case of the manager going for what he knew to give him time to really assess the squad over the course of the season. This summer is when you can actually judge the signings, and whether they are the right ones or not. I think you have to say that, at the very least, he has identified the gaps in the squad and brought in players to fill those gaps. Plenty of managers just seem to muddle on without ever doing that much.}

1.) 01 Aug 2015 07:15:21
Judge him after ten games, its to early to tell just yet

2.) 01 Aug 2015 07:18:09
I think we're going to be a little disappointed come the start of the season. I dunno about everyone else but for me, I would like to see Morgan, Bastian and Herrera in a 3 man midfield with Depay on the left side of the front 3 and a quick RWF with Rooney through the middle. That's what I thought we would be going with when we made our signings but judging from preseason I don't think it's going to happen. Now I'd settle for 1 top CB and give Adnan and Perriera a chance with that RWF position.

3.) 01 Aug 2015 07:40:20
Major, we've never really gone for galactic of signings. This year's have been much better; my issue is LVG seems unclear on who to play where.

4.) 01 Aug 2015 07:44:14
You wouldn't be eluding to your beloved Liverpool and Mr.Rogers there , would you Ed? I know the window is still open , but they still seem to be signing quantity over quality to me.And without necessarily addressing areas of weakness. Just my opinion though.

{Ed001's Note - it is Rodgers way, to sign lots of players to cover up his own shortcomings and never addressing the real issues. We still have a goalkeeper who is barely good enough for a Championship team, so he buys a back up goalkeeper, who was barely good enough for the Championship team he was playing for. Skrtel has been utterly woeful for years, so he extends his contract and buys a new young partner for him to replace our only decent defender of recent years. Oh and the only player we have had at the club in the last few years who consistently improves our results is only seen as a back up to Joe Allen, despite the fact that when Lucas plays our results are massively better. But it is ok, because we have signed another 5 attackers, so the fact our defence is crap will not matter. Apart from that Buzz Word Brendan is doing a great job, showing outstanding character if you ask me. And he does have one hell of a tan! Can't underestimate the importance of a good tan and white teeth mate.}

5.) 01 Aug 2015 08:37:58
Hit the nail on the head there 001.Is all in the teeth!!

I am starting to worry a bit though that United will end up in a similar situation this season. IMO we have made some very good signings this summer , in particular Schneiderlin and Darmian will make in immediate impact in areas that needed improving. Depay has great potential , but may take a while to make a real impact. But , IF we don't sign at least one quality CB we will really struggle to challenge at the top. I think Rojo can be good enough , but despite improving last year I still do not see Smalling as a United defender. As for the rest , well they just seem to be going backwards rather than improving.

I hate to say it , but despite the money spent I think United fans will be left disappointed again this year. Another challenge for 4th again I think. Unless CB is addressed , and soon.

6.) 01 Aug 2015 08:32:18
How many attackers do Liverpool need anyways? He's going to play a strangely new formation, isn't he ed?

{Ed001's Note - it is quite confusing, he bought a load last summer too, but still ended up playing the final game of the season without a single striker in the team. Obviously he just needs to keep buying them.}

7.) 01 Aug 2015 09:03:21
Agreed Betty. As I have been saying for a few weeks now, the buys have been good but we now need to buy two or three world class players. Cb cf and right wing.
At present,top 4 is about as good as we'll get and even that will be difficult as I think Liverpool will improve massively this year.

8.) 01 Aug 2015 09:12:22
Spot on betty with regards to the CB .I would get two CB'S .None of them are comfortable on the ball and it will be a miracle if Jones doesn't get injured before Christmas .I don't think we are finished with players coming in yet and i hope a quality CB is amongst them ( hopefully 2) 😆😆

9.) 01 Aug 2015 11:47:51
Liverpool might improve a bit but not massively. As ed said they haven't improved their week areas. The team to watch from Europa league chasing pack is Southampton, been plundered again but bought in some good players.

Thanks eds for posting my post about Paul McGrath I really appreciate it. I didn't think it would get much notice. I loved his talk where he still refers to United as WE. Also he said he would of loved to of played with jaap omg what a partnership that would of been.
I thought it was very nice to hear Paul express his love for our club still, just like becks.
Thanks again eds

{Ed007's Note - There's no need to thank us mate, you're welcome.}

1.) 17 Jul 2015 16:58:49
If you've got twitter there's an account on there called united before Fergie that talks about older players. They usually pick a player a week or a day if there's not much happening and get fans to tweet in their memories. Some really good stuff comes up.

Mata was eventually shown the door at Chelsea by mourinho for the same reason I would at United. He's too slow and wants too many touches our play should be fast fast fast like when we dominated
