Just wondering what people's thoughts are on Nathan Ake? Left footed cb, should be available for a decent price if Bournemouth get relegated, definite upgrade on Jones and arguably baily. I'm thinking sancho, grealish and Ake isn't a bad window. Maybe ruffle a few feathers and go for aubamyang.

1.) 06 Jul 2020 08:37:33
He's an OK player but I don't think he is an improvement on what we already have.

2.) 06 Jul 2020 09:00:08
He's a decent player, however I think he suffers fron the same lapses of concentration or going missing that Maguire suffers from. The difference is Ake has pace to recover more often.

I would have waited until a little longer than a few days since our side tore him and his defence apart though before suggesting him😂.

3.) 06 Jul 2020 11:14:01
😂😂 Nows as good a time as any shappy, think his pace is what's needed next to maguire.

Heard that schniederlen deal is 75% complete with the player wanting it tied up before pre season training and also gaitan is the same position 2 excellent signings :)

sred4893

1.) 26 Jun 2015 18:29:05
please not gaitan

2.) 26 Jun 2015 18:48:22
I wonder who is sat there documenting the percentage as the deal progresses.

3.) 26 Jun 2015 19:03:07
I can't really see the sense in signing Gaitan. Morgan Schneiderlin though, would be a fantastic signing. I think he is an excellent player personally.

4.) 26 Jun 2015 19:13:50
Have a feeling we might be the other club that has a tentative agreement with gaitan, apparently it's not spurs anyway. I guess that'd mean signing just 1 MF player and di Maria playing centrally maybe.

5.) 26 Jun 2015 19:35:24
For the deal percentage calculator you need to log on to percentage deal done bullshit.com

6.) 26 Jun 2015 20:14:54
From what I heard, the Gaitan rumour is completely false.

7.) 26 Jun 2015 21:25:19
Its 77% Complete now. We need better Internet.

Hi ed

Was just wondering if any interest we have in howedes is dependent on schalke signing nastasic?

Also do you have any update on progress we are making with regards to any negotiations for a new CB

Thanks :)

sred4893

{Ed002's Note - I would not try and complicated matters. Nothing has changed since yesterday.}

1.) 11 Jan 2015 11:18:41
Does anyone have any information on Vertonghen?

Champions league level, - excels as a ball playing defender?

- In other words, good enough to make our first team, and perfectly suited to Van Gaal's system.

In the present market, and this being Spurs last chance for 20 or so million, surely this one is a no-brainer for both teams?

Spurs are lucky - we are probably desperate enough to pay anything up to £25 million (max.) - We are lucky, there is at least something available!

Get cracking EWW!

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United has no interest in him.}

Is anyone else worried about blind still not being confirmed?

26 Aug 2014 11:22:52
Ed002 I was wondering if we have any interest in varane? Very good player who no one seems to be going for

sred4893

{Ed002's Note - None has been shown by MU. Chelsea would still like to take him in a player exchange but this looks unlikely this time around.}}

1.) Thanks ed , one more question what's the chances of us signing agger?

{Ed002's Note - Slim at best I would think.}

2.) Thanks ed

Liverpool fan telling me on twitter that firmino gets into any team in the world, they're a funny bunch.

sred4893

1.) 04 Jun 2020 21:33:48
Tbf i highly rate Firmino, very underrated, think he probably would or should, Firmino is key in the success of the front 3 at there club.

2.) 05 Jun 2020 07:57:04
Firmino is a brilliant player and ideal for the way we play, we struggle when he isn’t up front.

But because he doesn’t get the goals, because he is laying them on for someone else or making the space for someone else he is often overlooked.

3.) 05 Jun 2020 09:18:26
I don't think Salah and Mane would score 20-30 goals a season each from wide positions if it wasn't for Firmino. The way he plays as a false 9, dropping deep, dragging CB's out and creating space behind for Salah and Mane is fantastic. His work rate and vision are excellent, plus he has great technique.

I honestly don't think there is a better "striker" better at doing what he does anywhere in the world atm.

But because he scores the least out of Liverpool's front three he is often overlooked and considered the "weak" link. Where in fact he is probably the most important one of the three. Which I why I don't think Liverpool are prepared to go all out for Werner as he probably doesn't improve their first 11 unless they drop a midfielder and play 4213. But that's a risk that isn't worth taking. If it's not broken don't fix it.

4.) 06 Jun 2020 02:36:46
Hes definitely not a weak link but it's all about systems he plays in a team set up for him to be able to show all his attributes at club level and he is very effective but he doesn't look anywhere near as effective or important when he plays for brazil with a different system in place. So the question of will he get in any team in the world is a no for me.

5.) 06 Jun 2020 04:35:54
Firminos a greta player and he will get in most of the top sides in the world.

6.) 06 Jun 2020 09:34:18
Yeah the system suits him at Liverpool as a false 9 in a front 3. He would probably not get in City's team as they play a different system. No doubt he's a very good player but I believe Salah and Mane are world class and get in any team. Firmino doesn't for me but that's just my opinion.

7.) 06 Jun 2020 09:42:38
Judging Firmino on national team form is more than harsh. Considering the Brazil NT is there to pander to Neymar and is mostly picked by sponsers and whatnot. The reason he gets into most top sides is because they would most likely build the attack around him to maximize the whole forward line. He is the complete forward for me.

8.) 06 Jun 2020 10:47:27
I wouldn't say he's the complete forward as he misses a lot of chances but everyone's opinion is different of course.

9.) 06 Jun 2020 11:23:33
The heart beat of our front line, and the best defending forward🤔 in the world.

Nice to see a few of you appreciate him.

10.) 06 Jun 2020 11:31:34
I wouldn’t say Firmino would get in any team but he’s a very good player. Works hard for the team and is technically very good. He doesn’t score enough but sacrifices that for his teams success.

The teams he gets into would depend on style of play, but I wouldn’t go underestimating his contribution to his team’s success.

11.) 06 Jun 2020 12:58:12
Best defending forward in the world that's great but I would like my forward to be the best attacking forward in the world!

12.) 06 Jun 2020 13:29:03
If we are judging players by how they play for their national team then can we take Messi out of the equation for best player of all time.

International football is a very different beast, in some ways much easier that club football in other ways much harder. Some players thrive in one or the other, some do in both. But not excelling in the international stage for me doesn't rule a player out from being considered one of the best.

Think of the Golden Generation with England. Most of the players were top top, world class players for their club sides. But they couldn't replicate that at international level.

13.) 06 Jun 2020 13:53:54
Surely the question originally was does firmino walk in to any team in the world the international argument is just one aspect. For the record messi does walk in to that Argentina team. Firmino is a good player with an attack built around him with a different formation and with different responsibilities in another team he doesn't just walk in. Its a lot more subjective then that.

14.) 06 Jun 2020 16:08:18
I think Firmino offers you something very different from most forwards. Certainly Mane and Salah would score significantly less goals if Firmino wasn't there. The fact that more often than not if Liverpool have dropped points Firmino wasn't part of the side in that game.

However I get the point about how a team sets up. Three years ago when DDG was at his peak someone like Pep would still not have picked him because he looks for something very specific in his goalkeepers that is a weakness in DDG's game. So it's not as straightforward as being a great player means you walk into any side in the world. I think there are only a few players worldwide who are so good you'd completely change your team to fit them in.

I think a fairer way is to ask is there any side in the world that wouldn't want Firmino as an option in their squad?

For the first time in a long time I am looking forward to watching a united game at old Trafford. Also seen the pogba interview with sly sports and must admit I get the feeling the whole wanting to go to Madrid before us was a load of rubbish. Hoping for a 3-0 win tonight.

sred4893

1.) 19 Aug 2016 16:37:01
Can't wait sred no idea who will play but I expect to see pogba and Miki on the pitch tonight.
Jose has always been a great front runner and if we can pick up some momentum we will be brimming with confidence and the fear factor will return.

2.) 19 Aug 2016 18:15:11
I agree Ken I have a feeling he may surprise is with team selection, also just watched the clip of Jose where he says that utd is the pinnacle of his career but his career is still Yong in terms of having 15-17 years left. Does anyone think he is hinting to a long stay? Personally I think he knows that any other job except an international job is a downgrade, I have always said that at the right club Jose could stay for 10 yrlears and build a legacy.

24 May 2016 18:11:52
So it looks like jose is a done deal which personally delights me. Best manager in the world at the best club in the, already people are saying about his young player record. Maybe he has never played youth because he's never settled anywhere so therefore not had a chance to fully develop these players. However he's 55 now and has managed in all the top leagues except Germany so it seems like he wants to settle down for a while. Apart from an international job I don't see him leaving for any other job therefore having a chance to settle at a club and develop the youngsters. Let's not forget people say he's controversial but so was fergie and we didn't mind that. If jose brings success and makes us feared all over the world I will be happy. Maybe we need to look at moving on certain directors and board members to get the best for our club. I may be wrong but only time will tell.

Ed002 you have said that Wednesday and Thursday were the days that transfers were going to be discussed by the big clubs so I was wondering if you have an update on united's transfer targets and any progress that has been made? Cheers

sred4893

{Ed002's Note - I have given it to you man. Carvalho.}

1.) Lets not forget Carvalho's agent is Mendes. Gill's and SAF's best buddy. No doubt SAF and Gill were in Monaco yesterday with Mendes.

2.) Same guy who sold us bebe right lol?

We didn't sign pep because he's under tested at a club that hasn't got 3/ 4 world class platers in it. Any of us could win the title with Barcelona or bayern in uncompetitive league's.

Yeah I know that, you said the money isn't there to afford sanchez without sales I thought that wasn't the case. But fully agree that if sancho comes ffp will mean players need to move especially with wages etc.

Ed thought utd are only one of a few clubs who have the resources to spend this summer?

sred4893

{Ed002's Note - You cannot keep adding players to the squad. Players have to be sold.}

Finally someone agrees with my opinion on pep, personally think he will be gone within 18 months, I don't enjoy watching pep teams play football it ends up becoming boring, 1 other point if he really was the messiah city would have sold out of tickets, I bet old Trafford is full for Jose's first game.
