Rashford close to Barcelona loan according to ornstein. Hopefully done soon. Be interesting to see if we get a loan fee, if they covering his full wages etc but just good to hopefully get this done so it's not a constant media talking point. Now to get rid of sancho too.

Sounds like Sancho is close to a move to Juve Tim. Good news if both are true.

Apparently it’s a done deal now.
Think it’s an option to buy instead of an obligation. So probably back at old Trafford in a year.

Full wages covered by all accounts.

19 Jul 2025 16:17:06
Apparently Rashford is a loan with buy option, so it will get the salary of our books but it won't bring in the extra cash and the clear profit that a sale would have generated. Does it open up any room for additional purchases? Can't see Sancho, Antony or Malacia producing much if anything either. So It looks like the only real sale with profit potential is Garnacho. If rumours are to be believed, and we need actual sales to consider further purchases, it looks like there'll be no more than one extra player coming in.

Would take wages covered all day long, hopefully Barcelona don’t continue to have registration problems that stopped the Nico Williams deal.

Which is a significant amount of money Ports, especially if they have committed to a full season.

19 Jul 2025 16:20:03
I know a sale was preferable but the club was kinda screwed. Rashford ONLY wanted Barcelona so was likely to turn down other offers, Barcelona aren’t going to pay us knowing that fact. They get him for a year and if he does well they get him at a lesser fee next year. Not ideal but we free up his wages so somewhere between 15-20m. If we get a fee for sancho and his wages gone 2 then that’s circa £50m freed up. Just glad the circus will be gone tbh.

Terrible deal, if we only got the wages covered and no fee or obligation to buy.
9.) 19 Jul 2025

Yes, terrible deal, saving £15M a year, and losing a. very negative influence in the dressing room.

19 Jul 2025 20:23:13
A terrible deal woukd allowing Rashford to stay at the club whikt paying his full wages.
If Rashford only wanted Barcelona, then Utds hands were well and trully tied.
Perhaps this deal with Baecelona may help to smooth talks with players that Utd are interested in and may even result in Utd completing a similar deal with Barcelona.

Good on him, hope he smashes it.
AJH I've never heard anyone say that he has been a negative influence on any team.

You must be deaf angel i know you like to bury your head in the sand wheb it comes to rashford only last week you were dating he didn't have discipline issues. He had 3 bans and incurred 12 fines for discipline issues in lat 3 seasons at united.
His actions have had a very negative effect.
I also hope he does well and i think he will. He has very good ability. He fell out of line with honoured united and united feel out of love with him.

Is there a loan fee?

Rashford should do well at Barca, and I hope he does.
He does have some impressive talent and he can occasionally slip into Robben-mode, but the EPL is not suited to him anymore.
He is at his best when the opposition is stretched and he has open space to burn through - EPL clubs are now too tactically flexible with lots of quick and powerful defenders, it's not Rashford's home now.
I've called him lazy and I 100% stand by that still, simply because, although he does have the athleticism and engine to meet the demands of workrate and recovery efforts in the EPL, he just can't be bothered most of the time. I know one or two will disagree, but I've seen the evidence live and have no intention of burying my head in the sand.
In La Liga, he will have the spaces he needs for him to excel, and I believe he will.
As for his wages, I'm not reading too much into it because of that near-£400m gremlin nibbling at our ankles - who knows where the £15.6m will go.
I do wish him well, and I hope he stays there. Good player, decent human, but it's time for the shoe.

Agree with your assessment Ork. Think he will do well, and hope he does well - will make him more valuable for Barcelona or someone else at the end of the season.
If we can get Rashford and Sancho off the wage bill, along with some cash for Sancho, that's an extra 50m or thereabouts for the club. Given where we are, while not ideal, i'd say it's good business.
On a separate note, am quietly optimistic about Antony leaving - at least both him and Betis want each other. He may be hoping for an outside chance of Bayern, but looks like they will get Diaz.
Fingers crossed at least these 3 happen, and hopefully that gives us the flexibility to go for a GK and ST, while getting more out the door (at least Garnacho, Malacia, Bayindir) and sorting out some more loans for the kids.

Deaf ken?
Sorry, I've not heard anyone say that he is a very negative influence on the team. Feel free to point me to quotes from those within those dressing rooms who have said different.
Also, 3 bans and 12 fines? What are you talking about?
I know about the Belfast trip and a official 2 week wage fine there. But the rest? ?
Are you just making more things up like you do? This more educated football knowledge that you have over others on here? ?.
18.) 20 Jul 2025
20 Jul 2025 08:48:23
Yes, terrible deal. Small club mentality, if we let Barcelona push us around like that. They wanted to sign players in region of 60m, so we could have at least get a loan fee, or obligation to buy!
19.) 20 Jul 2025
20 Jul 2025 11:22:38
Trololo
There's more to it than just United letting Barcelona push them around.
Barca are in a similar boat to United, needing to box clever with just about every deal they do. They wanted Williams, but Deco wasn't happy that Williams' agent was actually doing his job properly (looking after his client's best interests) by talking to Bilbao about a new contract.
Clearly, Williams and his agent actually know their stuff and the former, hoping to make Spain's WC squad, didn't want his whole off-season to be wasted by a club who'd need to shift and sift things before getting the deal done - then came Deco's message which clearly p***ed Williams off.
Then came the interest in Diaz. Liverpool obviously said they weren't looking to sell, but gave a ballpark figure and timeline - Barcelona thought 'Nah'.
Then, they returned to Rashford who made it difficult for United to say no - United won't pay his wages for the year, they've secured a purchase option for Barca, and can remove a player who has made it clear that he wants to leave.
I don't think it's a terrible deal - it's not perfect, but it is a cost-effective solution for all parties involved and, during a period of such intense need for a meticulously measured stage of the rebuild, it's the kind of deal that just gets a potentially awkward situation out of the way and dealt with in a sensible and (importantly) swift manner.
Now we can comfortably move on to the next step of the many that remain.
20.) 20 Jul 2025
20 Jul 2025 12:06:48
If we let them have Rashford for no fee, I would have been trying to loan TerStegan as part of that deal….
21.) 20 Jul 2025
20 Jul 2025 12:40:11
Maybe they did try German or maybe they don't want ter stegen.
Maybe he doesn't want to play in UK.
We can only deal with what we do know and that is rashford is going on loan and that's a good thing.
I have lots of players i'd like us to sign that I like personally but if the manager or wolcox show no interest then that's OK with me. I only want players to sign that they want. There will be reasons why we have not moved for ter stegen. I don't know what they are but there will be good reasoning i'm sure.
22.) 20 Jul 2025

Ter Stegen may require surgery for an ongoing back problem.
23.) 20 Jul 2025
20 Jul 2025 15:11:43
Yep I agree, maybe they did maybe they did not, maybe RA not interested, but we can hope. But I am not having your recent narrative oh I follow what RA wants or the club wants, the club wanted Ole you barracked him like no tomorrow, when others have an opinion you state things like they know nothing, then another day you state you don’t mind peoples opinions, so since when have you only be dealing with things we know and facts? You been peddling the can’t buy without selling non factual for weeks!
I know we need another GK a proper experienced CB with Pace, a ball playing midfielder with pace and an experienced striker.
Our build up and even recovery is all far too slow, it says something when Heaton is our best GK…. Even though yesterday was first friendly we still look awful there is no getting away from that! We are slow and lethargic.
Rasmus, Zirkee, Mainoo, DeLigt, Onana Martinez Mount are all average at best players and just not suited, the sooner people see this the better mostly players that ETH bought in…we’re no better than he disposed off yes Garnacho, Rashford, Sancho, Antony all need to go too.
RA yes needs to build a team, and I want him to succeed, in fact I quite like him as a manager, is he suited to United. the jury got to be still out on him I’m afraid, so to keep muttering you want what RA wants, maybe a bit rich, the club did not exact give him a long contract.
24.) 20 Jul 2025
20 Jul 2025 15:21:31
Thought he had surgery Mad hatter and now started training again? that’s why I was hopeful for a loan of a year, if he was fully fit I don’t think cat in hell's chance he would swap Barcelona for United., why would he! I can’t see us buying a keeper because hard job to get rid of Onana, Heaton looks best of the 3 so that’s a huge worry.
The huge problem we have apart from over paying for players and giving them huge salaries is Rasmus, Zirkee, DeLigt, Onana, Ugarte, the Glass butcher, Mount, Antony, Mazzouri, even add Dorgu to that are just average at best players and everyone of them very Slow, Rasmus only one with pace but his brain is too slow, so pace is wasted.
That’s another reason I think Mainoo don’t suit us, he not exactly quick or mobile and unless he is surrounded by better players he won’t do much at United either, he is just a victim of circumstance.
But the big elephant in the room, is the very short contract they gave RA so are the club even sure on him.
25.) 20 Jul 2025
20 Jul 2025 17:30:45
German I support the club and not the temporary employees they come and go and if i don't like what they are doing ill say so.
Its my opinion and not always factual.
I know nothing of running a professional football team just like yourself and everybody on here i guess. I know just as much about performing heart surgery.
Everybody has an opinion but nobody has an educated one a far a I'm concerned because they know nothing about professional football. So yes German your opinion like mine are just an pinion of 1.
I do only want the players that the manager wants why would I want to sign players he doesn't.
Defend your opinion like I do mine but I realise its only that, my opinion.
I laugh a the bakers and bankers and office workers calling all the subject matter experts incompetent. Lots of incompetent people doing the jobs others would love. The reason why they don't have those jobs is because they are not qualified to do them.
No issue with opinions and I'm happy and very much comfortable with the fact mine is uneducated I don't see why anybody thinks theirs is unless the debate is based on facts.
You saying ugarte is rubbish its not a fact its an opinion. There are far more knowledgeable people that think otherwise.
Not sure why anybody here would think they are subject matter experts having never worked in the industry in any relevant role. Also not sure why anybody would mind that being pointed out.
Some egos don't like being called uneducated in professional football.
Yes we all watch it but will all watch tv and movies but don't critisise the lighting or scenery or tell them what actors to choose.
Not 1 subject matter expert on here as far as i know.
I'm happy for angel who thinks its hilarious and seems offended by it to point out how and why he is educated in pro football. Its a hobby supporting a team for us all same as going to movies or playing golf.
So yes opinions are welcome but most are come from our own thoughts and no expert knowledge.

And yet you post/ respond to most on here as if yours is gospel and everyone else is a mere imbecile. Your post above makes you sound like you accept and invite all opinions but it’s the complete opposite.
Every post we read, it’s inevitable there will be a response from Mr Weed, correcting or trying to belittle others opinions.
27.) 20 Jul 2025
20 Jul 2025 21:44:36
I think Rashford will do well at Barca. Great players around him, a seeming open spot on the left for him with the chance to fill in for Lewandoski who will need resting at his age.
He won't have to defend a lot in most of their league games either.
Hopefully he will do well eniugh to earn that option being taken up.
28.) 21 Jul 2025
21 Jul 2025 02:13:38
I hope he absolutely smashes it to the point where Barcelona will look like knobs if they don't sign him after the loan season. Win win for all but wishful thinking.
29.) 21 Jul 2025
21 Jul 2025 07:25:54
But Ken, your opinions are fine, but even in that speech those opinions are totally nonsense, you say no one on here worked in professional football, you don’t know that, in fact I guarantee your wrong on that front, but that’s bye the bye.
It’s ok everyone having differing opinions, but you call people fools and much worse when there opinions differ from yours, much like Jimbo who gets derogatory name calling thinking it’s funny.
Yes opinions on football and players is what the site is about not individual abuse on those of differing opinions.
BTW more people in football than not think Ugarte is not up to the job, as shown by PSG and towards end of last season RA too, he could go to a lower league and do a job, much like Deligt, Martinez, Could do too, they just all not what United need and certainly all look even worse when they play together
Maybe have opinions but less of the personal attacks when others have opinions too.

Odd that my response didn't get through Eds, but I can have my name dragged into others tit for tats.
Oh well, the usual suspects continuous rhetoric means I'll give this a miss for a period.
