What does everyone think of the Blanc rumours? I know he signed a new contract recently but I for one would really like him at the club.

celtic red

1.) 13 Mar 2016 13:31:23
Why would Blanc leave PSG? Why would PSG allow a French manager to leave? They have almost limitless funds, the league is pretty easy, they are in Paris which is a nice place to live in. Oh and he signed a two year extension to his deal in Feb. It makes no sense, looks like the press have jumped of a nothing story.

{Ed001's Note - they are just wrapping up the league as we speak.}

2.) 13 Mar 2016 14:38:09
Maybe PSG want a new manager maybe Blanc wants a new challenge. I wasn't asking how plausible it was I was only asking what everyone would think of Blanc at utd.

3.) 13 Mar 2016 14:44:50
Wrapping it up with a certain amount of style ed, it's 8-0 and Ibra scored a 10 min hat trick. It is against ten men though.

{Ed001's Note - it was 7-0 before the man got sent off and the 8th came from the pen which was the result of the sending off. Though the keeper saved the Cavani pen, only for Cavani to knock in the loose ball. Oh and Ibra just made it 9.}

4.) 13 Mar 2016 15:21:10
In terms of Blanc it seems a bit of a fudge to placate those who don't want Mourinho. The best available out there is, like it or not, Jose and if some feel uncomfortable appointing him then maybe it is time they retired from positions of influence. Our thinking since Busby retired has, bar SAF, been muddled. If is time we made cold hard professional logical decisions based on what is right for the club and not on whether a couple of people don't like someone. We could end up with the wrong manager because of someone's personal feelings or dislike at a time when logic needs to be applied. No to Giggs or Blanc, stop dithering and get Mourinho in and start planning for the manager after him.

5.) 13 Mar 2016 16:14:02
I think you guys are kinda answering why Blanc would leave PSG with your argument for him staying. It's so easy. They are in a league where they can win games 9-0, where's the challenge? If he wants to be seen as one of the worlds great managers, he has to leave France and play in one of the top leagues.

Personally, I think he'd be a calming influence on us and might gradually claw back some respectability to the club. Atm we've got a guy who makes a fool of himself in the media every week, who claims his players are 'Horny', falls on his *rse just to make a point and doesn't even know the names of his players.

With Blanc you get some class, someone who isn't going to sulk if a player voice's there opinion. He's not particularly youth orientated but he's good at instilling confidence into higher profile players, for example, Thiago Silva's confidence was wrecked after Brazil's poor performance's at last years Copa America but Blanc has got him back to top form. Re-instiling confidence at United is a huge thing for the club and this is part of the reason I think he'd be a good acquisition.

Another huge indication of what he can do is with our very own ill fated ex-masiah Di Maria. Where LVG strapped him to the wing and removed his ability to roam Blanc gives him freedom to express himself. Against Chelsea he was officially on the right wing on the team sheet, but in reality he didn't have a set position and was the creative spark that unlocked Chelsea's defences in both legs.

Yes Blanc has had a huge budget at PSG, but as we have seen with us, Man City and Liverpool this season, it's not as easy to buy success as everyone thinks. Obviously Mourinho is the most prolific current Premier League manager in the game and I wouldn't be against his appointment but he always brings both good and bad attention to any club he's managed. So in our current state, where our image is in tatters, I think Blanc would be a more intelligent choice.

6.) 13 Mar 2016 19:03:46
Blanc winning a B league with a team assembled for 100s of millions against teams with tiny budgets does not make a great or good manager. He sucked as the french coach. Nice man and demeanou but a long way from JM as a football manager. has won nothing IMO.

7.) 13 Mar 2016 14:03:01
I think we can safely say that Blanc will not be our manager.

8.) 16 Mar 2016 07:04:58

Hi eds any truth in man utd interest in Anderson of Lazio and if so could you see any movement for him in January?

celtic red

{Ed002's Note - Atletico Madrid had approached Lazio about taking Filipe Anderson as a replacement for Arda Turan but Lazio offered him a new contract which he was happy to agree to. Wolfsburg, Manchester City and Manchester United remain interested but he will not come cheaply.}

1.) 28 Dec 2015 15:01:37
Cheers ed002's much appreciated.

Martial to juventus must be a joke? What everyone thinks?

celtic red

1.) 27 Mar 2016 16:03:36
Has to be a joke, lazy journalism, makes no sense.

2.) 27 Mar 2016 18:54:59
He had an interview the other day and said he was loving it at our famous club!

Said he couldn't wait for future times ahead!

27 Mar 2016 07:29:25
Just want to see what everyone thinks about the Sun reporting Depay and Morgan been cleared out in the summer? I for one would keep them, I expect a big season from both next season.

celtic red

1.) 27 Mar 2016 07:42:23
I wouldn't believe a thing on that rag, not even the weather!

2.) 27 Mar 2016 07:50:44
I agree angelred just wanted to see what everyone thinks of the idea of selling them.

3.) 27 Mar 2016 08:21:30
Morgan certainly will be at the forefront of our team next season. As for Depay I have not been convinced at all and if serious money came in for him the club should consider it having been stung with expensive young flops like Nani, Anderson etc in the past. Having said that I would at this moment give him another season to redeem himself.

4.) 27 Mar 2016 08:56:49
I find it amusing how they say we are selling depay and spider but Jones and rojo only face uncertain futures lol.

5.) 27 Mar 2016 09:52:09
Must be a slow day at the office lol. I'm sensing a late bid for snjeider again, again, again.

Paul Scholes and Giggs are coming out of retirement with Pudsey bear our target man upfront.

Who knew talking bollocks was so easy.

6.) 27 Mar 2016 10:01:27
Pinch of salt for me, we will know when a new manager comes in and only then.

7.) 27 Mar 2016 11:31:17
Depay will be amazing next year. He has so much qualities and needs confidence.

8.) 27 Mar 2016 12:56:19
Not a chance that they will be sold. Depay, a young man in his first year who has shown glimpses. Maturity and confidence is what's needed as he seems to hold all the other attributes.

Morgan, again first year and seems to be playing with the brakes on, probably down to Van Gaal. Should be given more license next year and hopefully will be the much needed engine in midfield.

If Fellaini goes this window we will have to replace him with a new signing right? For me I'd like Rabiot. I am just wondering who else you guys think would be a good replacement? REALISTIC options for January please😝.

celtic red

1.) 19 Jan 2016 12:04:29
Hi CR,
Tough one to answer for all of us.
This window is not the best. With plenty of work going into the youth set up etc too I think the chances of us making 'huge' signings are getting smaller and smaller for the time being with the main focus being on the future. Having said that a CB would be good right now and a winger. Depending what happens with De Gea potentially a GK too. CB in the form of Stones would be great. Eds have said previously a bid for Kroos is a possibility.

2.) 19 Jan 2016 12:55:48
Hard to see Fellaini going this window. He seems too important to LVG.

3.) 19 Jan 2016 13:06:45
I think William Carvalho will be an excellent option and I really like the look of Snachez from Benfica, he's only 18 but he will be a fantastic player.

4.) 19 Jan 2016 12:02:44
I don't know if we would need to replace him. When everyone is fit he shouldn't play and Herrera gives the option of playing deeper or at 10.

I think Rabiot has massive ego issues. The only player that might be available this window is Kroos would would be a great signing.

5.) 19 Jan 2016 13:19:22
The issue is that we have only 4 experienced cm players aside from him. And two are over 30 and injury prone, and LVG sees Herrera as a number 10. Obviously we have Blind too, but we are in even worse shape at cb. Basically, the reason Fellaini is playing is because our squad is already lacking. Personally I think we should sign a quality cb if we sell him, and move Blind back into midfield where he should be.

6.) 19 Jan 2016 15:32:59
It's gone quiet this season on William Carvalho. He seemed like he was in great demand last summer. I am sure many of us have seen his strengths. Has anyone tracked his progress this season? He certainly looks like he could be a powerful presence in the midfield.

7.) 19 Jan 2016 15:42:58
Fellaini is playing as defensive aerial cover for Blind. So we are playing two players out of position as we don't have two quality central defenders. Can't see us selling Fellaini until we get a settled pair of central defenders.

8.) 19 Jan 2016 15:55:08
Danny, I totally agree. Sign a centre back and save Blind from this centre back position - It can't be enjoyable for him getting beat up by players twice his size. He isn't at all suited to it regardless of how well he has done. His good performances have been when we dominate and he can step out of defense to ping a ball - when we are under pressure he hasn't a clue where he needs to be.

10 Jan 2016 18:32:23
Sky sports saying we not likely to sign anyone in January, any truth in this.

celtic red

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United are now in a position to complete the Anderson transaction. If the toxics get their way there is every chance that all business could be cancelled - but I have already explained this.}

1.) 10 Jan 2016 18:59:19
That's good news Ed. Short term he won't make a difference, however, there is no doubting that he has a lot of potential. If Martial, Depay and Anderson reach their potential, that's a fantastic front 3. Still a long way off that though.

Hoping we bring in a player this month who can have an immediate impact though.

2.) 10 Jan 2016 19:14:24
I'm hoping they don't get their way ed surely the club will not take too much notice of the nonsense that is going on at the moment as long as they are on their planned course?

3.) 10 Jan 2016 19:24:18
Well hopefully the signing goes through, then he can be used by the next manager in a better way than LVG a would use him - assuming that he hasn't been brainwashed into passing sideways and not taking people on. Yes - I probably am one of the toxics.

4.) 10 Jan 2016 20:54:40
Personally I'm glad we're not doing business because hfully it means the board don't want to give him any more money to squander so they can give it to the next manager.
If wanting the best for your club is toxic then I'm radioactive lol cheers ed.

5.) 10 Jan 2016 20:39:43
I must admit I have no real knowledge of his capabilities but its a real long shot that he will hit the ground running as its a real culture shock but stranger things have happened😄.

6.) 10 Jan 2016 20:43:38
I think 90% of us are "toxics" now. There may well be a plan, but why are we all so convinced that it's the right path to be on. If the plan is to have a manager who plays ineffective, dull football which is not even that successful then we are well on course.

Like any good business, every plan should have a contingency. Times change, plans fail and we need to adapt accordingly. That's just sensible business planning whether it be in football, retail, IT or whatever.

I like the theory on the playing side behind what we are trying to do. Buy lots of good young players and they'll grow into a team. However, half will leave if they are forced to play under LVG and the other half will just be played out of position. From a footballing stand point on the pitch, I see absolutely nothing to suggest this "master plan" is working/ progressing.

7.) 10 Jan 2016 22:05:32
I think our back four is ropey, but apart front that our squad is decent. Our tactics are most certainly not.

8.) 11 Jan 2016 13:26:50
There's a difference between wanting what's best for the club and what you personally think is best.

03 Jan 2016 10:42:05
Any truth in rumour that we are going for stones this window. It has came from journalist that reported Martial move first.

Laporte wouldn't be as expensive because he not home grown and just as good plus more realistic target with so many clubs after stones.
