One of the papers reporting lacazette is available for £22mil now that sounds like a bargain to me seeing as strikers are traditionally meant to be more expensive do we hold any intrest in the player looks to be a steal at that price.

There is no way he will go for such a low fee, He'll go for upwards of 30m at least. Lyon are generally good at getting the most for the players they sell.

2.) 09 May 2015 13:13:25
Not seen enough of him to say whether he is as good as some say but I know that Lyon are no mugs when it comes to selling players.

3.) 09 May 2015 13:11:46
It does seem to good to be true he is a talented lad and the key thing for me is he can run in behind defenders which our strikers don't do.
What do the edds say is he available is the price quoted possible?

4.) 09 May 2015 13:52:26
I don't think he would leave in a Euro year, if he flips he won't make the French squad and also Lyon look good for the CL thanks to him so I suspect he will have one more season.

I may be in the minority but i would much rather have witsel than gundogan. Nothing wrong with gundogan but witsels physicality imo will be better suited to the english game

1.) 28 Apr 2015 12:36:29
Gundogan is better on the ball though which will go in his favour. I'd suggest Naingolan or Gundogan as ideal for us.

2.) 28 Apr 2015 12:58:18
Fresh i think you are underestimating witsels ability on the ball. I think he would be more than capable of replacing carrick for us

3.) 28 Apr 2015 13:31:42
I prefer Naingolan to all the above, but of course, Pogba is no.1 choice

4.) 28 Apr 2015 13:32:34
i think people would just liken witsl to fellani

5.) 28 Apr 2015 14:04:07
Witsel is still a little bit more cumbersome than Gundogan and Naninggolan (however you spell it).

6.) 28 Apr 2015 14:12:32
From what I have seen of Witsel (mostly with his national team) he seems decent but I'd prefer Gundogan. Although I wouldn't be devastated at signing Axel.

7.) 28 Apr 2015 14:30:44
I think Witsel is massively over rated and if that was our big buy for the midfield I would be gutted.
Gundogen is a far better player.

Is it me or is that difficult for the management team and players to see that we have nobody who runs in behind the opposition defence and everything is played infront of the defenders making it easy for them.

I really hope in the summer we get a quality striker who is capable of stretching defences we do have chicharito who is good at this but he doesn't actually do anything with the ball therefore is not good enough!!

Feels like there isn't the striking talents out there like there used to be.

Just something a little different . I wanted peoples opinion on something me and a friend of mine were discussing. He is of the opinion any player who has played for utd then goes on to play for either city or lpool should not be considered utd legends they may be great players for utd but not in that legend category. He was mainly talking about schmeichel but i do see his point players may see it as a job where as fans have a emotional attatchment and i can see why he feels that way as a fan.
For the record if ronaldo went and played for lpool or city he would no longer be a utd legend in my eyes. What do others feel about this?

fess

1.) 13 Feb 2015 14:17:27
Tbh it depends on what stage of there career they go although any United player that left and then went to to play for Liverpool would sour my view of them like Ince.

2.) Dennis Law? Despite the coup de grace goal that sent us down to what was then the second division, he will always be a United legend. Ronaldo was a great player for us, but a legend, no. There's a distinction between a football legend and a club legend.

You could make the same argument about Lampard playing at City. He will always be a Chelsea legend despite the bitter pill.

For me, only a player who spends essentially his whole career at a club can be a legend, as opposed to a great. His name must have become synonymous with the club to attain that status.

Of course the lines are grey, and there's a lot of subjectivity to it.

3.) I agree with Chris, all to do with the point in their careers, it isn't Black and White for me.

I personally think Lampard should still be considered a Chelsea legend for all he did for them and the way he wasn't offered a new deal. Not too sure how I would feel if say Rooney signed for City next season for example.

4.) No I disagree as schmiechel has said in interviews that he liked his time at villa but did not at city he was glad the day he got injured when he was meant to play us.

5.) There is a big difference with Lampard going to play for city from chelsea as they would never be the rivals us n city or lpool are.

6.) I understand that Fess, but try telling that to some Chelsea fans. If Rooney signed for Chelsea in the Summer he would lose a hell of a lot of respect for many of our supporters, not quite so much as leaving for City or the Scousers, but enough to damage his legacy significantly.

I just think it has to be considered on a case by case basis. Why did they leave most importantly?

7.) Denis Law's goal did not send us down. We were down anyway.
Patrick

8.) Yes Patrick, that's correct. What I was trying to say, was that it was the nail in the coffin - an emphatic irony.

9.) 13 Feb 2015 17:04:41
your old trafford red or your dead in my eyes whilst your still playing. after retirement I will always remember the good times and memories players like schmikes or law or Ince etc gave me (all of us) but while they wear another jersey they might as wll not exist as far as i'm concerned. no Hatred just indifference towards them
So ill dislike them when they play elsewhere (yes even ronaldo) and ill look back when they are finished playing and only look at what they did with us with any pride and or satifaction and forget the rest.

10.) Emphatic irony ?!!! I think it's a shawthing you're trying to wriggle out of that one!!!
Patrick

11.) The worst one is brian kid when fergie won his first title sliding on his knees and now dose the same at city a real slime ball

12.) 13 Feb 2015 18:19:58
I know where you're coming from Ken, but there's no absolutes for me. Darren Fletcher? Hope he does really well at WBA after all he's been through.

I look at them on a case by case basis.

13.) 14 Feb 2015 09:08:15
Somebody doesn't think Peter schmeichel is a club legend? I think they are wrong. There is a statue of Dennis law at old Trafford. Think that says it all.

After being linked with Vidal for so long if we end up getting de jong it would be a real step down in my opinion I am not a fan that's for sure. he's a walking yellow card his distribution is poor and he adds absolutely nothing going forward. Yes he is strong in the tackle in the physical sense but it usually ends up in a foul anyway I would liken him to Tiote of Newcastle not in Utd class that's for sure I will go as far as if Fletcher is fit he gets in ahead of him 9/10 times. So fingers crossed this is one rumour that has no truth in it!

fess

1.) 07 Aug 2014 09:17:35
De Jong is a good defensive midfielder with a lot of experience in the premier league and elsewhere .
If we got him for a reasonable fee he'd be a good addition to the squad , especially if we're not going to get Vidal and wait for Strootman

2.) Ask yourself would City ever want him back? Not a chance! He would be cheap yes but why are Milan willing to let him go when they are a extremely poor side already? He would do a job but I honestly want some real class not a stopgap.

Pogba would be the best signing we could possibly make this summer. I would hate for an already strong chelsea midfied to get him or even City getting their yaya replacement. He would solve soo many problems for us including wasting rooney in mid.

Whilst I don't know if its true the price quoted there seems far more likely than the £17m I have seen mentioned in the press! Even at £30m for arguebaly the finished article and not just potential seems a great deal to me. Especially as sideshow bob cost £50m!

I think Witsel is underrated and would more than do a job in our league. Better than Fellaini on the ball strong physical presence. He could do the Carrick role easily as he can do the passing side but add to it with his physical side.

He reminds of Keane with his tenacity and willingness to get stuck in plus he's hot a hell of an engine on him. I would have him in a heart beat

If someone said to me you will win the league or champ league but have to pay 30 or 40 mil on 1 player every year and won't be able to use him again i say money well spent becasuse winning these competitions is how you grow and attract names.

I would class him as a Utd legend best defender along with Stam we have had imo. He had a real calming influence on the team and is EXACTLY the type of defender we could have done with right now. He wasnt perfect but his pace and positioning always got him out of trouble he happily left Leeds to come to us captained the side to the 08 and has to go down as a Utd great.

Personally for the money and age I would rather get felipe anderson. He has a lot more to offer in his game plus he's younger
