Well, what a big game tomorrow is now, a win takes us 2 points off 4th place. Whod have thought that pre the Spurs game.

winning tomorrow and i think top 4 is duable, i mean Chelsea's been dropping points and even City haven't been as consistent as past years, if we find a way to beat teams outside top 6 then we should get to play champions league footy but you never know what Utd side is going to show up tomorrow, i hope the one that beat Spurs and City and not the one against Aston Villa, Newcastle and the others.

I'm looking forward to the next match. It's been a while since I felt that. Thank you Ole for bringing smiles back to Old Trafford.

Most tainted league title in history. Every game they get at least two var decisions in their favour getting offside goals given for them or dodgy penalties whilst perfectly good goals or penalties get chalked off.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed047's Note - let’s not mention Fergie time or anything else though eh?

14 Dec 2019 14:11:57
Utter nonsense mate, they’re the best team in the league and deserve the points they’ve got.

{Ed047's Note - 100% RWWD

They are a top team and stop the hating and they shudve won the title last year.

14 Dec 2019 15:43:38
They play decent football not disputing that. But every game they get every single decision and that isn't dodgy?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed047's Note - and that of course never ever happened when you were winning titles Mort, you’re really just sounding bitter saying they play “decent football” 🤷‍♂️

They are a fabulous team playing great football with a manager we’d all love at our respective clubs.

14 Dec 2019 15:58:02
They are doing ok ed😏.

{Ed047's Note - he said through gritted teeth! 😉😂

Jealousy is a horrible thing.

Loads of people moaned that United got the decisions by refs, now we have VAR and it changes refs decisions. UNITED won what they did under a refs decision be it right or wrong. Wish it was the same, that way nobody can blame outside interference in any way.

Best side in the league by a mile and it will be their year as they say. Personally I hope that can only galvanise our club into getting back to their best.

I think the league needs a strong Liverpool side, just like it needs a strong Utd one too.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i agree with that eric..

14 Dec 2019 18:34:35
Imagine how exciting it would be if liverpool and utd were battling for the league. A few years of yet though.

Correct me if i am wrong. What dodgy decision gone in Liverpool way today? . Mane's goal chalked off or else or am i missing something?

Mort,

How many dubious penalties have we had this year?

Jealousy is not a good look.

They are a great team and deserve to be where they are.

Mort,

This is one of the most pathetic posts I’ve ever seen on here. I dislike them but no argument they have been good, they said all 13 of our league titles were because of the refs, we are better than that.

20-19, we need to use it to kick on to stay on our perch.

rd i am not jealous you have been by far the better team. i just hope it makes the bigwigs at our club look up else it will be us waiting 30 years for the next title.

You don’t fluke a title lads. If you are top at the end of May then you’ve been the best team. All decisions even themselves out over the course of the season.

Hi Ed's,
Firstly appreciate all the work you do and thanks to Ed002 for the transfer target breakdown, very interesting indeed. I've seen a few reports linking us to Saul Ninguez of Athletico Madrid. Just wondering if we have in fact shown an interest in him? I think he'd be a fantastic addition. Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Certainly in the past, Mr Mourinho wanted him.}

When we play Everton tomorrow, we will see Academy graduates such as Rashford, Lingard, and McTominay playing, and probably Greenwood, Tuanzebe, Williams, and Garner on the bench. This will be our 4,000th consecutive match since 1937 when we have had at least 1 youth graduate player in the squad. That is an incredible achievement, particularly in the EPL era when big money has been around and a record that is unlikely to ever be rivalled.

On a separate note, has anyone else noticed the move towards British players? In some games we have had 7 or 8 British players starting which is also quite unusual nowadays. James, Maguire, and AWB have bumped that number up I wonder if that has been a deliberate approach or just the way things have fallen?

I think its been deliberate AJH.

Firstly one of the biggest criticisms of the post-Ferguson era has been of poor signings who appear to have been in it for the money and haven't really cared for the club. Now we appear to be looking for players who buy into the ethos of playing for United. Secondly look at Barcelona, Bayern and Juventus and what do they have in common apart from sustained success. A core of domestic players some bought some self developed.

We know results haven’t been great so far but there is some good stuff happening. In 2019 Ole has given debuts to 9 Academy players: Tahith Chong, James Garner, Brandon Williams, Ethan Laird, Di’Shon Bernard, Dylan Levitt, Ethan Galbraith, Largie Ramazani and D’mani Mellor.

There are 12 academy players in the squad. They have played 38% of all first-team minutes in 2019-20 and assisted or scored 31 of United’s 34 goals. November’s 3-1 defeat of Brighton and Hove Albion featured the Premier League’s youngest lineup this term with an average age of 23 years and 350 days.

I may be wrong, but I think our top 5 players for appearances all came through as youngsters.

I love that we do this, if we can keep developing them, and add a little more guile and experience hopefully we can be more consistent.

That’s top 5 appearances ever - Giggs, Charlton, Scholes, Foulkes, Neville.

You know what guys - under the grim days of Moyes, LVG and Jose, we had no style of play and a mosh mash of random players.

OHS has come in, there are goals a plenty (for and against), and he has picked a lot of good young academy players and bought very well so far.

I know Ed does not rate him, and many of us are sceltical, but to be fair to him he’s doing ok and deserves to see the January window and season out.

OGS obviously not OHS.

I think he's doing great. I'm expecting the rest of the season to improve.

Integrating 2 new players into the back 4 is a big deal. It is no surprise that Lindelof's form has suffered with two new players on either side.

But also our young players are maturing all the time. They are growing and improving. I am a firm believer that players who are thrown into adversity and opportunity learn far more than simply dominating youth age groups.
