Hi eds, do you expect any activity today?

MasterWayne

{Ed001's Note - not today I don't. The offices are shut until tomorrow, so no paperwork can be processed.}

1.) 31 Jan 2016 14:50:19
Do you expect any on Monday ed? ?

{Ed001's Note - I don't expect much to happen at all in the Prem, other than Newcastle, to be honest.}

2.) 31 Jan 2016 18:00:11
Thanks ed001.

{Ed001's Note - bit of a damp squib of a window this.}

15 Jul 2015 10:55:56
Hi Eds do you think there is a chance of any of the first team players other than hernandez,de gea,rafael,evans leaving?
Mata's name came up few weeks back but has gone quite?

MasterWayne

{Ed001's Note - if the right offer came in for Mata or Jones, the club would be willing to sell.}

1.) 15 Jul 2015 11:19:05
I like Jones, yeah he's not a great defender and we could do with a lot better one(obviously( but he throws himself at anything and puts his body on the line which I love to see.

2.) 15 Jul 2015 11:26:02
Would be a shame to sell Mata but 433 doesn't play to his strengths.
Just wanted your opinion Ed on your Liverpool teams shopping so far, with Benteke and possibly others to sign do you think it'll be a good window and what's the fans expectations for the upcoming season?

3.) 15 Jul 2015 11:48:07
Sorry Ed just saw your take on Liverpool on the banter page, you've done some typing this morning ha.

{Ed001's Note - it's fine mate, I would have only been doing research or typing up articles for FNV or player-profiles otherwise. It is a break to type for the sites and have someone else providing the idea of what to type about, rather than having to find something.}

4.) 15 Jul 2015 12:05:49
If I had my way both would stay. I wish Jones could have settled better as a centre back instead of becoming Mr Versatiliy under SAF - that for me has ruined his progression.

And Mata is quite simply a fan favorite and combines brilliantly with Herrera - I for one hope they both stay. Instead I'd see Evans leave.

5.) 15 Jul 2015 12:17:30
Finding inspiration in us posters eh Ed. A friend of a friend of mine is a sports writer, doing blogs and stuff over in Ireland, spurs fan I think, I know he enjoys the job but having to find something interesting and informative to write about daily that will be enjoyable to his readers can be difficult.

{Ed001's Note - it is a nightmare, especially with so many sites that need related content on a daily basis. Trying to find something to write for Barnsley, for instance, during the close season, is hard work. I often end up just doing a player profile for one of that particular team's players or former players instead when I can't think of anything.}

6.) 15 Jul 2015 12:31:02
Agree with Fresh - Evans should be the first player out the door, followed swiftly by Rafael.

7.) 15 Jul 2015 12:46:01
Ha yes I can imagine you'd have to wrack your brains over something like that. Could always write about a famous 1-0 victory for Barnsley at anfield in '97 mate ;)

{Ed001's Note - you would enjoy that far too much!}

8.) 15 Jul 2015 13:35:02
Feel for you ed, don't know how you find the time pal, hats off to you all!

{Ed001's Note - luckily I don't have a life to interfere with my time. Being able to do this wherever I am is a great help too. I only need access to the internet. It does help that my missus is very understanding, in fact when we are together it is her that often reminds me to check the sites if I have been lazy. Though that might just be so she gets some peace....}

9.) 15 Jul 2015 13:48:25
You're lucky guy ed, I just get ear ache :-) Not surprised you are letting her make you an honest man.

{Ed001's Note - I am just surprised she would want to marry me. It is like going in to pick up a lottery win thinking you have got 3 numbers and it turns out you have all 6.}

10.) 15 Jul 2015 14:06:32
Well I'm not religious in the slightest so I won't say it's some Omnipotent being paying you back with good, for all the years of having to watch Liverpool, I do like the idea of Yin and Yang though, so could be something to do with that :-)

{Ed001's Note - I think I would have to say that it would be deserved for having to put up with the Souness era while hearing me mam's family telling me all the tales about growing up watching us dominate Europe *sigh*. They used to say I was a jinx. First game I went to see at Anfield we lost, so I wasn't allowed any tea as it must have been my fault.}

11.) 15 Jul 2015 14:26:52
Oops! No Scouse for you that night then :-)
I was lucky, when we won the FA Cup in 1990 I was only 9, so I have pretty much grown up with success. What made it better is my dad being a City fan, was like a double whammy of joy all those years.

{Ed001's Note - I bet he is giving it you back over the last few years though!}

12.) 15 Jul 2015 14:48:14
I just don't go round when they win. When they won the league in 2012 I didn't go round for a month! I couldn't face that as well as buying a new TV, having accidentally launched the sky remote at it when Aguero scored. Worst day in a long time! He isn't happy about them signing Sterling though.

{Ed001's Note - their buying policy rivals Liverpool's for its utter lack of forward thinking and planning. They are just lucky to have a lot more money to throw away on ill thought out purchases.}

13.) 15 Jul 2015 15:04:30
i agree ed, so does my dad :-) for a City fan he talks a lot of sense, a bit like yourself for a Liverpool fan 😉

14.) 15 Jul 2015 15:18:41
The first march I remember watching United was that 3-3 v crystal palace Brendan, I was 7, I remember pickin which team I should support, man to think I could be a palace fan now.

15.) 15 Jul 2015 15:47:39
Ha ha WRD, that was close eh?

16.) 15 Jul 2015 16:16:17
Ha yes. Well my mum is a Liverpool fan, my dad United so I think that tipped me toward United. I remember then going great game I'll support us in the replay too, Lee Martin my hero that day.

Apparenly Darmian deal is confirmed by the Torino boss.

He told Sky Sports Italia: "Matteo Darmian will play for Manchester United. It's a dream for him.

"It's true, Darmian will play in the Champions League with Manchester United."

MasterWayne

1.) 09 Jul 2015 09:48:20
Apparently should be flying over a medical before the end of the week. That's two good signings in. Schneiderlin should be next within the week and hopefully Otamendi too - but that will depend on his holiday.

22 May 2015 03:46:44
Its really surprising to see Ashley Young not in the England squad but Jamie Vardy made it. Can anyone explain this :S?

MasterWayne

{Ed025's Note - neither of them should be anywhere near an international squad wayne, young has done well this season but thats a false dawn imo..

1.) 22 May 2015 08:35:21
I've got to agree with ED25. While he's had a a good season he isn't a top player and is very predictable with his crossing. When you look at the top clubs with their wingers Ashley wouldn't get anywhere near them.

Personally I'd sell him and Valenica this summer before they reach 30

2.) 22 May 2015 09:09:51
So on your opinion players should be picked on reputation and not form then?

3.) 22 May 2015 09:11:36
False dawn or not, I believe players are picked based on current form, and Young's current form is worth a call-up. Even if on the bench, back-up for either flank.

4.) 22 May 2015 13:03:08
Well I think Young would have been in there but according to Hodgson he had a slight injury.

I think it's a tad bit unfair on Young there ed25, England aren't exactly a fanastic football team and I believe his form would have him included, now if he was spanish/french/italian so on and so forth, then yes he shouldn't be allowed near an international team.

5.) 22 May 2015 15:26:44
Young has been good all season, the amount of goals he's been involved in shows he's doing something right! He's got his confidence back and he can beat a player and get a cross in much more consistently now than any of our other wingers. He's better than Vardy, Milner and Townsend anyway that's for sure.

6.) 22 May 2015 16:36:53
On form it's a travesty that Young hasn't made the England squad. Is there anyone better for England wide left form-wise? I can't think of anyone.

So we move for Fonte as short term may be I am guessing it means Lindelof is not happening till summer/ we are as a whole looking to buy long terms in summer.

MasterWayne

1.) 06 Jan 2017 09:08:35
I think both will come in this window

2.) 06 Jan 2017 09:42:05
Agreed, by the sounds of it, lindelof's issues seems to have been cleared up and Fonte only wants United. I think both will come, but who goes out?

3.) 06 Jan 2017 09:59:02
If I had to bet, Smalling and Blind.

4.) 06 Jan 2017 10:03:19
Lindelof will be signed this window, there is a sell on clause from his old club that has been causing delays.

I do not think we will be signing Fonte.

5.) 06 Jan 2017 11:10:54
Agree with beast. Smalling and blind. Both a shame but I don't think they will push on. Blind is a squad player same as Smalling. Rojo covers LB and CB and Jones has been a bit of a phoenix from the flames. Smalling and blind should still command quite a good return on value also. I'd expect Smalling if allowed would got to arsenal.

6.) 06 Jan 2017 11:15:31
I would like to keep blind. He is a very decent cover for more than one position.

Smalling and rojo would be my 2

7.) 06 Jan 2017 12:13:49
I would rather have Blind over Rojo in any position on any day of the week. Rojo is in the same boat as Prunier as far as I'm concerned. Championship player at best.

8.) 06 Jan 2017 12:57:14
Hate having a dig at any United player but I think Rojo has hit the form of his life right now, long may it continue but I think it will be short lived and he's no long term solution, especially as clubs were sniffing round at 15 mill apparently. Blind is a better bet as a squad player, slow as he is.

9.) 06 Jan 2017 13:16:15
what would rojo have to do to prove himself at united and get fans on his side and not wanting him sold .

keep his head down, give a 100%, play well?
or is his card marked

10.) 06 Jan 2017 14:08:11
fonte? is nobody wanting van dijk.

11.) 07 Jan 2017 08:34:06
Smalling will not go to Arsenal. He's a mid table defender at best as he cannot concentrate for 90 minutes I like his application and attitude, but a squad player for us. Southampton, West Ham etc will all be in for him, or maybe Newcastle when they come back up.

27 Aug 2016 16:35:21
we come back from 1-0 down to win 1-3. How about that for a prediction.

MasterWayne

1.) 27 Aug 2016 16:46:19
Nah. 0-4. We've changed.

07 Aug 2016 15:11:07
Its on the official site. Pogba to have medical.

14 Jul 2016 12:13:36
No discussions here about our future team includes Januzaj. The kid was a revelation under Moyes. I personally would love to see him become a world class player for us? Any updates about his situation?

MasterWayne

1.) 14 Jul 2016 12:20:48
I think people are happy to just see how it goes with him, you couldn't put him in the first or 2nd choice teams as it stands but it would be great if he could push himself into one of them, he has bags of potential and shines so much at under 21 level, he just has struggled to up his game at the top level like so many before him. We should stay off his back, take the pressure off him and see what he can do.

2.) 14 Jul 2016 12:41:33
Hes only 21 and hell have plenty of oppurtunites to stake his claim to get in the team. Thought he was handled poorly by lvg especially when he started a fair few of our opening matches then ended up on loan at dortmund where it didn't work out for him. Its been mentioned his attitude wasnt great last season which is a shame.

3.) 14 Jul 2016 13:00:39
Think he should be given a shot at number 10, in a league cup or early Europa league game.

4.) 14 Jul 2016 13:09:12
Disagree completely with that statement on him being a revelation under Moyes. He was excellent in the game he won us at Sunderland and he put in some other good performances but almost everyone of our players were seriously under performing at the time and because he was fearless and went at defenders which nobody else at the time was even attempting never mind doing he was kind of like a shining light in a dark sky and got the fans excited which in my opinion slightly over-hyped his capabilities. But he certainly does have the ability to be a top player for us if he works hard enough.

5.) 14 Jul 2016 13:40:52
I believe Januzaj is a strong potential and can be a very good player. I also believe that he was played out of position by LVG. I also believe that he has a little bit of attitude problem and is in a hurry to be excel. As an attacker he is selfish but that is good. However he overdoes that and become a liability and not playing as a team. Hence he comes across as aloof and arrogant. I believe he should be given a chance and if he listens to Jose I can quite sure he will be a big name some day. Would be the same for Memphis.

6.) 14 Jul 2016 18:03:59
Master wayne- hardly a revelation to be fair!
He had a good game at Sunderland, and played ok with promise on occasion but sadly lost form before LVG.
Agree with other posts about lack of opportunity but he didn't cover himself with golddust at dortmund.
Its obvious he has ability but it hasn't kicked on yet and in world football today, especially EPL, you don't get long to shine.

7.) 14 Jul 2016 20:14:14
Terrible attitude. If he doesn't grow up fast, then he'll not make it. Not my favourite player and I can't see all the hype.

13 Jul 2016 12:04:05
hello,

Anybody aware when will be the new kit numbers will be announced?
Will there be a new number 7?

MasterWayne

1.) 13 Jul 2016 14:30:40
I think Memphis should keep the number 7. It was quite obvious that he lacked confidence at times last year and struggled. But if we are going to write him off on the basis of last season many deserve to go. The talent is there and I do think given the chance Jose could unlock it. A player like Memphis needs to be a part of a team which plays fast attacking football, not the rubbish we were seeing last season.

2.) 13 Jul 2016 15:28:05
Looks like the kid came in thinking he was gods gift and needed taking down a peg or two.

To be fair to him I saw interviews towards the end of the season where he said the PL was harder than he thought, if I remember correctly he said in Holland he could relax and dip in and out of games, turn it on when he needed but he realised it didn't work like that in PL.

So I think he is maybe not a bad kid, he has had a wake up call- he seemed to be hurt he wasnt an automatic starter but realised he wasnt good enough, seemed as though he was up for putting that right.

He has talent, same as Januzaj, and Schneiderlin, it needs the right formation, coaching and hard work, and for him to get his confidence back then he could be a real asset - hope he makes it at OT.

Telegraph's ogden also saying the same. he has said there is a 46.1m release clause and there is a apossibility if United act fast. Fingers crossed with his tweet yesterday giving hope.

I am very happy that we are signing some one so young with so much potential but I am bothered with the price quoted. But the market nowadays is crazy. This guy can become the next O'henry or may flop with the price dropping so low in a couple of seasons.
