Reports in Spain, that Mourinho flew to Madrid on Wednesday to meet with Griezmann. Any truth in this Ed do you know, or is it just click bait.?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I don’t know where he was man. My knowledge of click bait may precede yours by a couple of decades. Not really sure what you are referring to but way back Mike Dicken and I were involved in an incident in New York. I doubt that is what you are referring to.}

Let’s be very clear, Ozil has been bang average for years. A good game does not make him a game changer for us, MOTD fever at its worst.

Yep

Sanchez for me is a difference maker not ozil.

Totally different players. I’d take Ozil on a free any day.

Differemt players yes Eric but as its both who are soon to be free agents i'd take sanchez in a heartbeat. Ozil has ha 2 good games this season, 1 last week and one this week.

Ozil isn't a work horse, he is the final ball man. if he isn't getting the service and freedom he won't perform. it goes both ways.

Ozil for ziltch is a steal.

So does a great game make young a left back ajh? Or martial a world beater? Ozil is a game changer but I'm not sure he is right for us.
He is a better player than mata is now or miki imo. sanchez is in the bracket below Messi and Ronaldo along with hazzard bale and co. But he will end up at psg I reckon.

Honestly couldn't agree more Tony.

Ozick is a very, very good player. Imo he get a lot of unfair criticism. In the right set up he is genuine world class. On a free transfer I'd definatly take him. He is better than all our number 10's, comfortably.

Just watched the game again and on the first half the front players were on fire. The movement of Lingard and Martial and the work rate of Lukaku caused Watford no end of problems. If we can keep that up for a full game then we will steam roller teams. I wouldn’t swap any of our front players, they are all outstanding on their day, we just need their day to happen a bit more often.

Remember than Lingard had a shot saved and Lukaku had 2 good chances when we 3-0 up, on another day that could have been a massacre. If we keep the belief and go for it then I am confident we will continue to improve.

And finally, what a goal by Lingard. He gets some stick on here but he is a local boy, came though the ranks, and he scores important goals. Consistency is his target now.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

{Ed004's Note - The 3 at the back seems to suit the majority of our players currently. I think the intention in the summer was to sign Griezmann and play him in the role that was given to Lingard on Tuesday. The other night was very promising. We should have been 5/6 up if Lukaku was on form.}

Messi Lingard hahahaha.

Not sure what point you are making iM7, if it’s a choice between paying £250M for Messi or having a home grown talent with potential then I plump for the second option every time, but maybe I’m just old fashioned.

IM7. Lionel Jesse.

Interesting to see how both scholes and Rio spoke about linders .
Got the talent by the sounds of it but maybe not a big enough personality.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Nov 2017 22:53:15
I like Jessie. He is a really good versatile squad player. In all comps he will make 20 plus starts and 10 from the bench in all likelihood. He gets important goals.
At a ' lesser ' club in all comps he would probably get 30 starts for less money with lesser players so I think he should think long and hard about chasing regular football. He id's about to come into his prime he should be trying to turn 20 starts for united into 30.

Agree Ken, a good squad player. One that I would actually keep having slated him previously (deservedly so at the time I might add) . We need to ship out Mata as he just doesn't fit, hasn't got the X factor we need in the hole and out on the right he is more of a liability than anything else, just can't move.

Lingard and Rashford both being English, young and hungry will be good rotation/ squad players. But we need a lift in class if we want to be winning titles. Too many positions we have good but not great.

Agree1 Disagree1

01 Dec 2017 11:22:16
Totally agree beast. let's face it jose took over our worst percorming squad in over 20 years.
He has taken 7 players in.
The squad is now much better than he inherited but still need possibly 4 starters and that will push 4 more of the lesser quality out of the team and 4 more out of the squad.

Not going to lie that last minute city winner stung badly. They are getting the rub of the green and i guess this is how other teams felt when we nicked it in Fergie time over the years. I agree with rave down below the HAVE to beat city when they come to OT. I think judging by jose’s Recent selections he knows we have to attack and win every game now with the way city are flying. I say buckle ourselves in guys because there is still a lot to play for and Jose will really let the shackles off like he has never normally done before.

Believable13 Unbelievable1

30 Nov 2017 09:48:56
They have scored late on in there last 3 games. All which have been very difficult for city to break down the opposition.

Teams are slowly working out how to get to city and nulify there attacks.

If Southampton were better in the final 3rd last night they would have won.

Yes they may have had 20 plus shots late night but Southampton had the clear cut chances.

It's only a matter of time before they come unstuck and the luck runs out.

Agree6 Disagree1

30 Nov 2017 10:11:20
I would agree with that Bolger Southampton should have had a few from corners. Seems that is a weakness for city and if we could get a good delivery in from corners that is an area we can exploit.

Somewhere where I feel we lack and which has been done to death is that creative game changer. That seems to be getting city these last few goals and I do sometimes worry we could get unstuck here. Ozil was class last night and I know it was Huddersfield but we should move heaven and earth for him. On his day is can be unplayable and I think we will see his work rate under Jose improve. I know a lot on here would prefer mata but I think Ozil is different class to any of the 10s we have.

30 Nov 2017 10:32:29
Was Mata better at Chelsea and Miki at Dortmund than ozil has been at arsenal.

Agree4 Disagree8

30 Nov 2017 10:40:31
In my view jred Ozil is better than both those players. He is the playmaker of the German national team and would take our team to a different level. Miki was very good at Dortmund but he was playing on the right and not in the 10 position. I will admit mata was incredible at Chelsea and I am a massive fan and think we should definitely keep hold of him. But he rarely plays 10 albeit when he does he does well. But it’s clear Jose doesn’t really trust him in that position. I know we often look at other players in other teams and wish for them when in reality our players are just as accomplished. But Özil with pogba and matic behind him, feeding martial, lukaku and rashford is a mouth watering prospect. Just my humble opinion 😂.

You really think he has been excellent in the epl over the last 4 year.
Don't get me wrong I think he is a good player but the missing link in a this Jose team?

Agree3 Disagree0

30 Nov 2017 12:23:41
I think he has been up there on top 3 playmakers the last 4 years yes. I think he is the easy scapegoat for fans because of his lackadaisical and ‘relaxed’ style of play. Much like martial who gets flack from our own fans for not looking interested. When in reality that is just our style of play. Fans love a player that charges around and works hard such as a tevez instead of let’s say a berbatov. I love mata but I think Ozil is better. As for missing link? I didn’t say that but I think he would add something different to our attack. Let’s be honest, we need two new full backs and a right winger more importantly. Add another central midfield and we have a brilliant team. So to answer your question jred - he isn’t the missing link but he would improve us a lot.

I though the same watching Miki at Dortmund and Mata at Chelsea.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Nov 2017 12:42:33
Ozil has always been better than Miki and Mata.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Nov 2017 12:44:22
I thought Mata was amazing at Chelsea, I had him down as one of the very best players in the league as he was running the show week in week out. Sorry to say he hasn't hit anything like those heights for us apart from a few great moments. Whether it's him, the managers or our style of play since he joined, he's been a 'nice to have' rather than a 'must have'. Respect the guy a lot though.

As for ozil, has serious talent but too much of a luxury player for me, we have enough players that lack oomph and can't grab a hard game by the scruff of the neck.
Need someone with class as well as drive.

For me we are a kdb/ hazard/ coutinho short of being an excellent team for all types of games. Any ideas who fits that bill and could be available?

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Nov 2017 13:06:11
Rave
A kdb/ hazard/ coutinho, pogba?

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Nov 2017 15:20:54
jred yes Pog is a quality player but a different position/ type to those I mentioned. He's not a number 10 nor is he an all-out attack player, and that's not a criticism.

I'd also like him to do the business and win us games consistently in the real big clashes, like those above do.

But pogba can and should be a match winner.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Nov 2017 16:09:44
Pogba can be. But as we've seen recently when he's out we had no one else step up. If we had two such players capable of winning games then one could pick up the slack if the other is missing.

30 Nov 2017 16:25:14
for me Ozil is a better 10 than both Miki and Mata but there are better fits for us than him, Dybola or Ferkir or Greizmann would be that missing piece Ferkir for me, he strong aggressive great vision and finishing ability and tracks back, he everywhere like Kante but further forward and the songs sung for him by the crowd could be very interest lol.
