Use our rumours form to send us manchester united transfer rumours.

Hi all

Iv not posted very often but I am a daily reader throughout the season. Iv been reading the recent activity on here regarding our transfer business and thought I'd put my thoughts on here

Transfers of Fred and Dalot early on gave me great optimism of what next season holds, however. that has since decreased and I am slightly concerned on the lack of activity in the market.

Now we all know united get linked to every player known to man but this summer has a completely different feel to it.

I fear we are leaving it very late and quite clearly the bale saga is a joke. I'm fed up of false hope and hanging on by a thread to the thought of us actually signing someone who is going to make a big difference and get the fans excited for once.

I maybe being negative however there is only 3 weeks left and no sign or hope of anyone with proven quality coming in and Liverpool for once are actually worrying me with their decent signings.

Thoughts anyone?!

Not much positive coming from Mourinho's latest press conference then. For the last few seasons we've been playing second fiddle to at least one or two English teams at different points in time - Mostly being Man City and Chelsea. After the changes at Chelsea we don't know how they'll adapt and the direction their football will take. However Man City still look as strong and Liverpool are getting stronger. Diogo Dalot and Fred don't seem like enough to compete, but let us hope for the best. There's about 3 weeks left in the transfer window.

Alderwerield and Bale with a fit and ready Luke Shaw, I’d be happy enough with that.

I'd love to see Douglas Costa playing on the United right wing. Doubt Juve would want to sell.

Am I the only one that's not particularly concerned about the transfer window?

I think we've got a very good squad of players and it's about time Jose started to get the best out of what's he's got.

We signed Lindelof for a handsome fee last summer, Bailly the year before so I think it's about time they both got paired together. Lindelof has now had a year to settle and come off the back of a good World Cup. Hopefully Bailly can stay clear of injury and get a good pre season under his belt. He's our best defender and it's about time Jose showed some faith and confidence in HIS signings and gave them a run of games. I also have high hopes for Tuanzebe and would like to see him partnered with Bailly at CB on tour. I'd much rather he was given a chance than sign Cahill for instance.

From what I've read Fred should be an excellent addition and add something different in midfield.

The only position I'd really like to strengthen would be at RW to give the side some balance. Having said that I believe we have an excellent prospect in Tahith Chong who won the Jimmy Murphy player of the year award last season. I'd love to see him given a chance in some games rather than playing Mata or Lingard out of position where they are less effective.

For me Jose has to start showing some faith in his players and build some confidence. We have a good squad with some very promising youngsters.

We all love new players and I agree we need to strengthen in certain areas especially at full back but we also have talented players that need a chance. Surely Shaw deserves a run of games if not just sell him. We also have Mitchell who looked really promising at Hearts and Dalot is very highly rated.

I know it's a big ask to try and topple City blooding young players but we have good experience in De Gea, Matic, Pogba, Sanchez and Lukaku the spine of the team is very strong. Give the players some confidence and let's see what they can do. Try to play the right way and the fans (in general) will remain supportive and patient.

We've attempted to buy our way back to the top and it's not really worked. Now is the time to forge a team, develop a set pattern of play, trust some of our promising youngsters and try and play with some energy and intensity. I honestly believe that the squad is strong and if Jose could just recapture that old twinkle in his eye and showed the lads some support and loyalty I'm certain they'd respond.

I completely agree with you but I doubt it will happen. We do have some good players but Jose seems to have made his mind up about some of them. Pogba has been offered to 4 clubs, Martial is being moved out, Shaw is free to go, all 3 of them are very talented. Sanchez will prevent Rashford’s development, still not clear why we bought him. Fellaini has been re-signed and I suspect we will sign a couple more, I just hope they work out better than most of the recent lot.

I agree on the center backs. But there is such a drop-off if Bailly or Lindelof are out. Smalling, Jones, and Rojo are all limited. And I don't want Cahill either. Give Tuanzebe a chance.

At RW, I agree that Mata and Lingard really both play like #10s. I've heard about Chong's talent, but I'm not sure he will be strong enough yet. But that is what the tour will be good for, to see how he holds up against men.

Shaw sounds very fit, and deserves his chance. But if we are going to compete for the title, we need two at each outside back spot that can get up and down the pitch. Young has been a great professional, but is past his prime now.

So in all, still think we need a proper RW, another LB, and a center mid. We have a lot of talent up front, we should only add someone who can make a major difference if available.

Well nice to see Jose has cheered up .
That press conference was like a beast post .

Can't see Shaw going anywhere by the sounds of it tho.

What a joke, and people have the nerve to say it doesn't effect the fans how much money the club waste on signings and wages for mediocre talent!

It's the fans that suffer ultimately!

The club don't set the process its nothing to do with the club. Adidas set the worldwide retail pricing policy. That's why they pay the club millions. How fo you think they make it back.
So don't blame the club on this one.
Retailers are buying the kit and making somewhere in the region of 55 / 60% gp .
Its no different to buying a tiger woods nike golf bag or roger Federer wilson tennis racket.
The only profit the club make in selling jerseys is through the official united retail outlets where they make the same margin as sports direct or heatons.

Ken - I assumed these were the clubs figures (ie our official store) - in which case we do get the money I believe.

The club could say 'no' to a shirt deal if they think the sponsor is going to fleece the fans (or at least negotiate a max price supporters would have to pay before agreeing), but of course they won't because they need the money to overpay for players. As always the fans end up overpaying one way or another to compensate.

I have no sympathy. If you keep paying it then they will keep charging it. Besides, it's more stylish to wear an old school shirt rather than the latest one. They're available for a lot less on ebay as well.

{Ed002's Note - I understand that there are cheaper replica kits available from Adidas rather than the "whatever material" kits the players wear.}

Hey Ed

Am I mistaken that City have a higher total of wages then United do?

How come we are struggling with FFP wage wise and City are not, while we have higher overall revenue then them

Thanks for clarifying.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - That is not how it is calculated and MC have to comply as well.}

19 Jul 2018 11:38:29
I think I remember Ed saying that no clubs wages can increase by more than £7 million a year it doesn't matter your income or total wages.

What’s the deal with Martial?
He seems to get a lot of social media exposure, feels like he is being used as the face of the tour right now.
And he seems happier then ever before.

Is it because he is French and the Club thinks that makes him worthy of the star role?

Is he happier then ever before or is it simply a case of picking different pics now then before?

Or is there an extension agreed we don’t know about yet?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe its the prospect of some serious game time on tour for him to show what he can do.
Maybe jose hasn't bullied him today and been a big meany for asking him to try harder and play better.

At the moment we are beginning to see a bit of tension between what the club wants, and what Jose wants.

Listening through the Sharkpod, a lot of Jose's preferences seem to be older players in their late twenties/ early thirties. This ties into Jose preference for experience - players who can fit his system and carry out his instructions. The club, in contrast, are trying to push for younger players with the potential for re-sale value.

Add to this the difficulty in moving players on. Some like Darmian, are priced to highly. Others, like Shaw, are reluctant to leave. And, as Ed002 pointed out, the club are unwilling to consider exchange deals as a way forward in some cases.

This puts us in a position where curse of the we don't know what will happen over the next few weeks. We have obvious problems in the squad that need to be addressed, players still here that aren't part of Jose's plans, and a few players who are unhappy and want to move. The next few weeks are going to be crucial to our season.

In his thirties and has played for Mourinho before. This is exactly the type of player Jose like to bring in. Surely all those people who say we need to give Jose a chance and he needs to bring in his own players will be overjoyed that he is being allowed to sign the players he wants.

18 Jul 2018 10:51:36
Come on Shappy. Gary Cahill is no improvement on what we have now.
For me that is just embarrassing.

18 Jul 2018 11:17:00
As a Chelsea fan I can tell you that it depends on which Gary Cahill you'd sign on whether or not it'll be a good signing. On his day he's up there with the best but I think that day may have passed. He's had a lot of stick from us at Chelsea but he's been very solid for the most part of 6 years, won everything there is to win in English/ European football and is a leader. But I agree you should be aiming higher.

18 Jul 2018 11:25:10
Maybe the Glazers don't want to pay £70 million for a 29 year old going into the last year of his contract or £32 million for a 33 year old italian. Not that I want to sign Cahill. I think it would be an awful signing. Nor am I defending Jose. It just seems an odd summer where we seem to be haggling everything, reluctant to pay prices and just struggling in general. I'm sure I'll be told not worry though.

{Ed002's Note - There is no doubt that if Cahill wishes to move Chelsea will not stand in his way. Right now I am aware of MU interest in another CB over alternates they have on their list and I am not aware of any approach to Chelsea for GC. He would of course be like Bonucci, a short-term replacement rather than someone for the long haul.}
