I’m terribly sorry to get involved again on your clubs page, but filthy rich rats don’t make people redundant to make the company run better, they do it to maximize profits. Almost all companies function worse after mass layoffs, the shareholders however get a bigger payout. Just to clear that up. Have a nice day gents.

Some on here will tell you that utd is a business and not a football club. And that it belongs to the owners and not the fans.
We will endure and we will come back from this, but it looks an awful long way back at the moment.

Genuine question from a Liverpool supporter: for the people who want to stick with Amorim, after his comments that he would walk without a handout, why do you think he should stay? Don’t you see this as an admission that maybe the job is bigger than he thought and that maybe he doesn’t see solutions anymore?
1.) 22 May 2025 20:46:23
I don’t think anybody knows the best way forward right now!
2.) 22 May 2025 20:49:24
Far from it. He's self assured. He has taken decisions such as loaning out Rashford and Antony without replacement to build for next year. The squad he took on is woefully constructed and struggled for goals before loaning out two forwards. He needs to be backed. There is no point in changing again, especially when he's playing with only half a deck.
3.) 22 May 2025 20:52:25
He also said he believes in his ability and thinks he is the man for the job.
Pep has said if city don’t trim his squad he’s quitting should they tell him to do one?
But think we all know the job is massive prob why he didn’t want to come till the summer but he’s needs help from everyone because there is a lot of trash that needs binning.
4.) 22 May 2025 20:58:46
A scouser ta) king sense, who'd have thought?
5.) 22 May 2025 21:41:44
A rare moment of lucidity I can assure you AJH. To be honest I don’t feel any animosity against your team, a little bit of schadenfreude obviously yes, but I quite like the historical big teams fighting it out against each other, I’m not too big on the nouveau riches.
6.) 22 May 2025 21:43:53
Amorim for me is comfortable in his skin, says things as he sees them and believes in his methods and accepts that they may take time.
He also knows that he will get another job elsewhere if the club move on and is comfortable with that, has had success and believes he will again.
Time will tell but he told us the end of season would be best to move in, he has been proved right. He also probably realises now the job and clear out is bigger than he originally thought and that is okay.
7.) 22 May 2025 21:54:50
@Bolger, I would argue that pep has won, legitimately or not, quite a lot of trophies for your noisy neighbours, so maybe that could give him some more leverage over that club.

I am with Brad, if you believe in yourself and are sufficiently financially stable, know you will get another role then there is a level of comfort you can be very straight with where you are, what you think and are not afraid to say it. You have the inner comfort of knowing you can walk away if it doesn’t suit you. Money, salary is a hygiene factor not a motivator.
As to why he might want to stay. He believes in his expertise, special expertise and I don’t believe he thinks this is too big for him. He believes in his experience and is now saying back me now. He doesn’t want to get to October and have what they did to ETH happen. Let’s have it clear now, we are in fully or not. I understand that and change management, of which this is an extreme example, demands that unwavering support or it won’t work.

I am in no way advocating the departure of Ruben, far from it. I think that perhaps he is the man to make the change we desire.
But just playing devils advocate as a balance.
These are professional football players. I don’t hold too much credence to the fact that they cannot play a system. Yes I agree that they may not be suited to it, but they should be able to conform to it even to a lower standard to players natural to that position.
Similarly Ruben has been in the position for long enough that we should be able to see a semblance of what he is trying to achieve. As yet I have not seen any marked change that indicates that he is fully instilling his wishes on the players. Other than his hard stance on players (which is admirable) there has not been a lot to suggest he can progress beyond this season. Even one coat of white paint on a black wall makes it lighter, even if the s*** still shows through!
However I go along with the sentiment of give him some players that are ready made for his style and see how he goes. Hell, 6 more months of this rubbish will not really matter anyway.
10.) 23 May 2025 06:42:05
If Amorim had said, for the rest of the season we play 442 until I get the players I want, does anyone think the results would have improved?
I don’t think the problem is the talent of the players, I think the real issue is the lack of confidence. We have seen it time again they panic easily, make rash decisions, miss chances they should score and then some are just selfish and don’t know how to play as part of a team.
I thought that at the very least Amorim could build them to play as a team, but they seem more like a bunch of individuals than ever, which is my biggest worry.
Amorim will know that the clock is definitely ticking and he needs to turn this around quickly at the beginning of the season. I think Garnacho is gone, Cunha will replace him, hopefully Delap hasn’t been put off after his visit on Monday and still decides this a decent next step in his career, Hojlund should be moved on if we can, maybe back to Atalanta if it is true and we want Ederson a deal can be done.
A front three of Cunha, Delap and Amad cannot be any worse than what we currently have, with Bruno and Ederson the midfield.
Lots of rumours about Bruno and Saudi, but would much rather we moved Mason on.
Hopefully, now money is tight we start to see bigger use of the academy team, there are some decent players there.

Thanks for the conversation lads, I’d wish you good luck for the rest of the season, but you know….

I’d never thought I’d say this as a Liverpool supporter, but I’m really happy you won against arsenal. Their diving and play acting isn’t something that should be rewarded. Congrats and all the best for the season, apart from against us obviously.
1.) 12 Jan 2025 20:00:35
Now that was a fun cup tie.
2.) 12 Jan 2025 20:30:16
Always fun when you win Eric. ?
It's no surprise to see where a lot if hard work gets you.
Dalot was a 2nd yellow no argument on his sending off.
The pen was not a penalty imo and was extremely soft.
A couple of goal saving blocks from deligt and saves from our keeper were just inspirational to the others.
We had our moments too with 10 men and could nicked a winner.
Arsenal are becoming a very dislikeable team with their constant acting and cynical play.
I don't see arsenal winning the title unless they sign a goal scorer in Jan. Saka is a big loss. So pinning my hope on forest baker but it's yours to lose. I don't see any let off in the brilliance of salah your scoring goals so unless they dry up it won't be too close imo.
3.) 12 Jan 2025 20:44:12
Was going to say the sane thing Ken. They've become a vile diving cheating team. Arteta is becoming an unlikeable manager too who behaved ridiculously for Dalot's second yellow (I think Martinelli is still rolling across London as we post! )
Saka (even though he wasn't playing) is quiet when he doesn't have Odegaard. Shut down Odegaard and stop their set pieces and they offer little else. Glad we missed out on Timber, he seems more interested in pushing and pulling rather than what he should be doing. The referee was poor. We gave Arsenal a taste of their own medicine on a corner once and it gets called a foul? Consistency? No.
We on the other hand in the last 2 games may be seeing the shoots of being likeable with a likeable manager. Putting the effort as a team, working hard being controlled in the aggression and looking more like a collective than I've seen for a while. Thought Maguire and De Ligt were outstanding on their set pieces. Keeper did well and I thought Zirkzee did really well in his short appearance. Ugarte continuing to do a lot of the dirty work. The first signs that we've now hit our bottom and must now build momentum. Reminded me a little of the 99 semi final, man sent off missed penalty, against the odds stuff.
4.) 12 Jan 2025 21:25:16
Thank you for the reply Tumbleweed. We’ll see who takes it at the end, but for now I’m just enjoying the ride, which in my opinion is often better than the destination. Call me old fashioned, or even better a lover of history, but I hope our two great clubs are battling each other again for the real honours again sometime soon. See you soon great opponent but never enemy. With all respect.
5.) 12 Jan 2025 21:25:27
Welcome to Man Utd Zirkzee and Byanidir.
Maguire and de Ligt oustanding, Ugarte and Bruno too. Great assist by Garanacho - better decision making all round.
Had an argument with a Gooner pal of mine when I told him Aetets has taken Arsenal as far as he can.
6.) 12 Jan 2025 22:15:47
I didn't think I would say this but I would much rather Liverpool won The league than Arsenal. You are right that this Arsenal side are dislikeable whereas this Liverpool side aren't at all, in fact they are very good to watch and admire and there is nothing dislikeable about them at all, apart from being Liverpool.
Maybe I am going soft in my old age, I even like your manager, he just very impressive, dawn that's twice on the teot you got right, hopefully you will get Arteta next!
7.) 12 Jan 2025 22:47:50
We aren’t perfect oak bark, we’ve got our Bruno mcallister and you’ve got your alexis Fernandez, but at least it’s not the team tactics as it appears to be with arsenal.

Any chance you could post Philips post on the other pages too? Might help people understand, it sure did it for me and I’m about as thick as they come.
{Ed025's Note - i will certainly put it forward Baker..

At half time and full time both sets of fans, home and away, get to vote on the worst dive of the half and those players are subsequently executed. It’s what I hate the most about modern football.
