Daley Blind departure confirmed. I believe he has been a very good Squad player. And I guess he could have been a useful deep lying midfielder but his versatility has costed him.

Considering our FFP situations, for which Ibrahimovic had to leave. We are in condition that we need to sale first than can buy. So I guess we can spend once we have space in wages and for that we really need to move on Smalling/ Jones (both) , young, Mata etc. I wish we clear stock quickly.

Yeah like so many of our squad, nice guys but not quite the level required.
I think a massive overhaul is needed, I know people harp on about too much change in personnel is bad, but not in all cases and frankly a massive change is needed if we expect to compete with City and for the CL.
Mata - £30m
Pogba - £70m
Darmian - £20m
Rojo - £20m
Smalling - £20m
Jones - £20m
Herrera - £25m
Martial - £45m
Blind - £15m
Shaw - £15m
That adds up to £280m, let's say we have £150m budget to add to the above sales which is £430m. Granted tax, agents, pay offs, will eat a chunk but let's say we have £350m to spend. That is enough for:
RB - Sidibe - £55m
CB -? - £40m
LB - Sandro - £50m
CM - Thiago - £50m
CM - Savic - £70m
RW -? - £50m
We have already brought Fred in of course, which takes us up to a roughly £350m.
I appreciate this is all rough and there will be multiple options, but if we buy world class players in those positions we will compete. Everyone will have their players they like that I have listed, but I think we can do better and most teams will have a tough start with the World Cup lag, so no better season to have a major overhaul.

Beast I know your the type of poster than divides options on here. sometimes I do agree with what you say.
But how you can say pogba is worth 70 million is a mystery
We don't need a massive overall we need to sign 3 players 4 at most we have some good players
Change of emphasis and style and I think we have a good enough team to compete. That's just my opinion
I would say a cb (toby) is a must a left back (take your pick) and someone like bale for the right and another central midfielder.
I do agree that we need to make signings. regardless if you were winning the lot ever season competition for players is a must for me.

I think we should keep pogba and martial. Pogba is world class and he will hopefully put in more consistent performances. Don't know why most people want him gone. Martial was on fire before Sanchez arrival so give him another season at least. He's still young and will come good. Rojo and Jones can go. Just not good enough. Shaw needs to prove to everyone that he is depending and will step up. Mata, nice guy but ain't going to win us matches. Herrera is a decent squad player. So is smalling. Darmian is good as gone. I'd give timo more game time than buy a right back.
As for signings varane is a dream. Guy is awesome. Sandro is great as well. Only other player I would buy this window is bale to play on the rw. To be honest I would have gone for mahrez. Proven prem player, shame he went to the dark side.

Our midfield is fine. Fred replaces Carrick who barely played. We have options for a midfield two or three depending on the opposition.
Beast, we don't need that much surgery done at once. We need a top centre back, recruitment at left back and our defense will be good enough to challenge.
Our main problem is goals from the attacking supporting cast. Lukaku done well last year but I'll expect better in terms of goals. The rest of the forwards don't contribute enough in terms of goals. That's why Bale or a wide player that can get amongst the goals is paramount.
Lukaku was the only player to get into double figures. Martial scored 9, Lingard 8, Rashford 7, Mata 3 and Sanchez 2.
We already don't give too much away at the back and with an improved defense we could do even better. I like our midfield, they too could chip in with a few more but if we can get that one attacker in that can get us over the line against some of the trickier opponents in the league. I think we'd be able to challenge.
A centre back, a left back and a goal scoring winger and we're done!

£70m for Pogba was based on what Ed02 said about us struggling to find a buyer and frankly, he has been very hit and miss (mostly miss) for us. Those were very rough sums, but what I was intending to do was show how we can transform our team from a bunch of plodders into a team that possibly dominates!

Do you honestly think we're going to lose money selling Pogba? Even with the way the market has inflated over the last two years since we've bought him. The lad has just had a brilliant world cup which he was an integral part of why they won it and you're suggesting we sell him off cheap so we can buy SMS for the same price?
I get that it's just an excerise to show how we can recycle the team and get us back to the top, but it's a tad silly.

Tbh Beast I don't think its not a bad list- unlikely but not bad. To anyone who thinks Pogba should be kept at all costs, -its not the fans doing that he has been offered to other clubs so let's get realistic!
I think martial would command more, as would shaw and getting rid of 3 cb is a bit risky in 1 window but mata - age, lack of game time and possible last big contract - deserves it; herrera not the player of 2 seasons ago.
players in, I think sandro could be on, savic would think would be more money but the positions identified are probably thiose that we need to get in. Still 3 weeks to go folks so who knows?

Everytime I think the human race is going to be ok, I come to this message board and am reminded how few humans were given brains. 70mil for pogba? Beyond wanting him gone, which is another topic on which fellow United supporters should have their heads checked, you think we're going to take a 30% loss on a player who just led his team to a WC at 25? Seriously, most of the time it feels like we're watching different teams or even sports.

KG - hmmm, maybe you should check our recent track record of buying players and then look at what we sold them for!
You view is far too simplistic, the player wants to leave, apparently the club are trying to sell him, there is no interest for the sums in question - ergo I hedged on the short but more practical side.
I also said the figures are rough, the wider point is we have a massive wage outlay to somebody that is not wanted and doesn't want to be here, that money can be better used elsewhere and his random performances is probably a further indication that 'hype' isn't seen as substance by people with brains!

Three things to ponder: (A) MU are going out of their way this summer to avoid getting involved in any exchange deals, but know they might need to. (b) Lichtsteiner has already been replaced by Cancelo, (c) Manchester United have been talking to another club about Darmian moving.}
