Fair play to Ole.

I criticised his in game management and tactics before but the last 2 games he has proved he can do it.

I have said from the start let's back him and see the plan through, I hope he has won over some of the ole out opinions on here.

Also he has a very good record vs the top 6, kind of reminds me of liverpool a few years back. would turn up against top teams but then lose to the lower teams.

To be fair Big V, the last two games have been superb. City barely laid a glove on us and we were deserved winners. Could and should have won by more.

We should have been out of sight in the first 30 minutes.
5-6 clear cut chances.
City were carved open with our devastating counter attack.

Ole is clearly getting the best out of our front 3.

TRD, front 4, Jesse seems to have rediscovered some form.

Yeah Tony, his pressing and energy was really good yesterday.
However, He needs to improve his goals/ assists tally to share the burden with other forwards.

His is yet to score or assist in the league this season and that really is not a good stat. Hopefully, he has gained confidence with 2 good performances this week and kicks on.

Posted before the game it was an attacking team, they were excellent in the first 30mins and battled for the rest. Brave move by Ole and deserves a lot of credit. Very proud of the lads, just need a run now, the confidence is sky high top four is still on. Good to see Pogba at the game too, he must be itching to get back to a an attacking team full of confidence the difference a week can make.

A good performance tonight but this has been the story whole season. We step up our game against the big teams which is helped by them attacking us and we are much better on the counter. Reminds me of Liverpool of a few seasons ago who were always up for it against the big teams and then went on to loose against the worst teams.
Teams which sit deep are causing the main problem. Our players look out of ideas and very disjointed against them. If Ole looses the job then it'll definitely be due to us not signing a good midfielder in the summer. I don't know who we could've signed but few players like Bruno were available.

Hate to jinx it but the next 4 PL games are potentially very winnable - that's the next real test can we get maximum points against Watford, newcastle, everton, burnley - struggled so far with the lesser teams and yet once again if we can put a run together against them things will look very different Jan 1st.

Well, that was an interesting and gratifying week. Some will say that City and Spurs were not at the top of their games, but that would do a disservice to United's defense and defensive midfielders who were very effective at stifling both teams' attacks. Then, when given time and space, the forwards have sufficient pace to cause any team problems at the back. They do seem now to be playing as a team, which is the essence of counter attacking football, where the runs off the ball are as important as those into space and correctly weighted passes. An excellent performance today, even better than Wednesday.

Clearly we can compete against the top teams. We have beaten City, Spurs, Leicester and tied with Liverpool, the only points they have dropped all season. Now we need to develop the capacity to beat the lesser teams, the ones that rely on a packed defense and physical superiority. That should point the club to the type of midfielder we need to acquire - someone who can unlock a tight defense. Ed002 has said Pogba is off, but that is a role, further up the field, that he could potentially fill and no doubt contribute a number of goals to boot. Failing that, Erickson would not be a bad choice but only if he is fully committed and isn't treating us as a reluctant but well paid home of last resort. If the club has learn anything it must surely be that we need players who contain their egos and are 100% committed to the club, the team, the manager, coaching staff and the fans.

Good debate on the live chat about Pogba. I wouldn’t pick him again, I’d ship him out and get as much as we can for him. He may be able to play at 10 but he doesn’t have Jesse’s energy or commitment. He could replace Fred but agin he doesn’t have the energy or stamina and he loses the ball too often, something Fred seems to have fixed.

If everyone knows he wants to leave then he doesn’t get on the team, send a message that says you’re either committed or you’re not.

Well....

Last 2 games have given me some hope on Solsjakaer.

Both games been outstanding and could've been 3/4-0 first half just need to take chances.

Just annoys how we faze out and start to get camped in and look to lose what we got.

Fred quality again. Not big fan of McTominnay but him and Fred compliment each other well

AWB and Lindeloff quality.

Just needs these types of performances every game and we won't be far off.

Looks like Fred has finally adapted to the premier league.

McTominay is probably my player of the season.
We struggle badly when he is injured.
He brings energy, tenacity and drive from the midfield.

Ole's earned himself a grace period at least until Christmas fixtures and we get through those unscathed, top 4 is definitely on.

It's up to the board now to come up with the goods, get him a couple of mf's and striker in jan.

Agree3 Disagree0

07 Dec 2019 20:13:22
Time and again we have failed to build any real momentum. So you are bang on its a step in the right direction.
You get the feeling if they could get a little run going that momentum swing could lead to a strong second half of the season with 3 cups and a top 4 finish all to play for.
We need a shrewd signing or 2 in jan to maintain some momentum. With effectively only 3 snr attacker's in the squad plus greenwood. We can't expect them to play every match.

Great week for the team and ole. Hard working, full of energy and finally some end product from our attackers.

Wan bissaka, mctominay, rashford and martial were all immense today.

Ole still has to prove that he can set a team up to break down teams that play with a low block but definitely a step in the right direct and will keep him in a job.

3 proper signings in the summer, a return to DNA, a real plan .
Fans on here react
On a game to game basis, but anyone who takes a step back?

There is a blue tinge on the site that leads a few . But we have at last took a forward since the last 5 year .
Peace it, be back again when it a decent read and not the same people with the same negative drivel.

Wasnt it 7 points and the game in hand was at Citys place which they lost to make it 4 points.

08 Dec 2019 03:33:42
You are right dilakh2. We are 7 points ahead of City with City having game in hand and we lost to City. So 4 points behind and still a game in hand for City.
In last two seasons this is the first time Liverpool going 10 points ahead of City. Last season at no point we are 10 points ahead of City.

Where were you when we were losing and drawing games? Ole deserves credit for last 2 games but he also deserves criticism for the earlier games.

The player or the manager?
Player yes, manager no.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2019 20:02:09
What I will say is that clearly ole hasn't lost the players in terms of support. This time last year when jose was hanging on the players just quit, now with ole under pressure they have backed him. Obviously players shouldn't down tools but it's clearly a different situation than with the previous manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2019 20:18:57
Shan some on here were tipping, indeed hoping that we would lose these two games. Hopefully those who were quick to criticize won't be slow in giving praise.

Suuuuppppeerrrr!

Just one concern. Why did we stop playing in the second half?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 Dec 2019 19:43:19
Shane because we where 2 up and city are a good team who will control the game against anyone e for periods of time .
Why do you think we stopped .
How do you think rash is doing.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Dec 2019 19:46:13
Lingard dissapeared in offense and martial getting tired killed our counter attacking in the 2nd half that and the fact that none of our mf or defense could actually get the ball into rashford and Martial's feet.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2019 19:47:39
😂😂😂 because the champions were knocking on the door, and we held out for a momentous win.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2019 19:50:32
Absolutely chuffed to win. Well done Ole, credit where it is due he got the first half right and we held on. We didn’t react to Walker dropping into Rashfords space in the second half, which stopped most of the pacy breaks.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Dec 2019 20:07:06
Can't critisise them for that shan. City piled on the pressure we defended it well in the main. In reality we could easily have had 3 or 4 and not been flattered by it.
Front 3 are a real handful and jessie is back making good runs and applying pressure.
The key for me is the attitude work rate and improving quality of fred and in particular mctom.
Both have been really good at tracking runners and fred has stopped losing possession so much.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Dec 2019 04:18:49
GDS, thanks for reminding. My point is we had the champs on the ropes. They could have been 5 down by half time. We could have killed the game by getting a third but we didn't try and gave a chance to City to come back into the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2019 19:37:23
Wow what a week! Credit to Ole got getting his tactics spot on. We were devastating at times on the counter in that first half. Rashford is in the form of his life he honestly looks unplayable at the moment. The turnaround from Fred has been sensational. Really does deserve the plaudits. Mctominay is a warrior and dan James brilliant. The defence were brilliant today. The real test of progression is against the smaller sides who sit back. Yes we’ve shown some great signs the past two games but I’m not getting ahead of myself. Really enjoyed the last two games and Ole deserves credit.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

07 Dec 2019 19:44:10
Smaller teams who sit back. Spurs.

07 Dec 2019 19:47:09
Here here Park. Its imperative that we don't get carried away but its been hell of a week.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2019 20:00:25
Jred let’s just forget ALL the other games we’ve dropped points against teams who have sat back shall we? Like I said, incredible over the past 2 games and Ole deserves all the credit. But we are still 6 wins from 16 games in the league, dropping points in 10 games. That suggests we struggle against teams that sit back. Anyway I’ve enjoyed it and I hope we can beat Everton in our next league game and keep the momentum up.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Yes they have an interest in him, whether or not it happens is another matter.}

AGREE NORN
never seen him excel in a game to be talked about in that sort of price range but reckon the money could be better spent. concerns about his alleged attitude and behaviour, almost depay like at earlier stages of his carreer.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Dec 2019 12:00:07
Norn - Who would you get for that kind of money?
Tom cleverley, Danny Welbeck and someone good?

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2019 13:33:08
Partey, ndidi, paredes, maddison, haaland, dembele, all viable options.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2019 13:38:28
Ps I wasn't saying we could sign all those players for that amount, just that if we have money to spend those are they areas that need improvement most. We don't need luxury signings we need players who can control a game and make the team more functional.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Dec 2019 13:38:30
Sancho is a good player no doubt about it. Its impossible to gauge fees nowadays. They don't concern me the club will only pay what they can afford.
A lot of the time the fee contributes to people's expectations. It shouldn't imo.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2019 14:46:35
norn none of partey ndidi or parades are a huge improvement over what we have and more importantly none of them add much creativity to the midfield something we lack the most. Leicester got 80mn out of us for a tortoise version of smalling who can pass, they will pull our pants down for maddison even more, haaland will be 50-60 mn and is lot less proven than sancho.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2019 18:18:58
CSM you’re joking Ndidi has fantastic this season, I’d have in a heartbeat the way he’s played so for this season.

It's not whether he has been good grumpy, who is he going to replace in the mf? Our problem is creativity and ndidi adds none to the team.
