Romero has signed a new 4 year contract. Number 1 if DeGea goes me thinks with Pereira as back up.

1.) 16 Jul 2017 21:18:26
You can't go from DDG to Romero, at a club like Man Utd, we need world class.

2.) 16 Jul 2017 21:23:32
I thought romero was looking at leaving due to wanting to be first choice keeper.

So does this mean that DDG may be on the move?

Obviously romero wasnt quoted saying that he wants to be first choice so its all just rumour.

3.) 16 Jul 2017 21:38:04
Wayne, out of available keepers, who is better than Romero?

4.) 16 Jul 2017 21:47:16
I think he deserves the contract and nothing more to read into it than that.

5.) 16 Jul 2017 23:14:14
I hope DeGea doesn't go, but if it is his wish to leave then I wouldn't be against Romero getting his chance, as I don't see any better out there that are available.

6.) 16 Jul 2017 23:25:49
personally if de gea does go I think schmeichel would be perfect for us.

7.) 17 Jul 2017 01:33:17
Dont see why anyone thinks we need a new keeper. Romero has conceded 10 goals in 28 games and helped us win the Europa League? I think that makes him more than qualified.

8.) 17 Jul 2017 07:37:54
Schmeichel is a good but not great keeper and all the very best title winning teams are built on a strong defensive base with a top top keeper. When teams face a top keeper they know they have to do something extra special to beat him and over the course of a season a top keeper has a huge input into winning trophies.

9.) 17 Jul 2017 08:28:28
What does world class even mean? Romero is Argentina''s No1 (a country with much better team than England) and has played in Copa Americas and World Cups. He's more than good enough if Dave wants to go home.

10.) 17 Jul 2017 08:51:37
Hart schmeichel etc are not an improvement on romero. Only 2 prem keepers i would consider as improving on romero is coutois and loris. Definately would prefer woody to concentrate on other areas.

11.) 17 Jul 2017 09:03:51
I'd be perfectly happy with big serge as #1.

12.) 17 Jul 2017 09:15:09
There's no way Romero is good enough to be our first choice keeper. If he was he'd have teams knocking the door down to sign him while he was sat on the bench. He looks nervous catching the ball and is only a couple of mistakes away from the masses turning on him.

13.) 17 Jul 2017 10:25:09
Romero is a very good goalkeeper. Who is available who is definitely an improvement? Donnarumma just signed a new deal and will be in Milan for at least another year or more. Oblak is unlikely to be allowed to leave for similar reasons for Atletico not selling Greizmann to us earlier in the window.
Ederson looks a great prospect but is at City now. Buffon isn't for sale and would never leave Juve now. Courtois won't leave Chelsea. Lloris won't be allowed to leave Spurs.

So name me a better goalkeeper than Romero who is available this summer?

He has a very good record with us, he is yet to lose a game having won 14 of the 18 games he has played for us. While only conceding 6 goals, and keeping 12 clean sheets.
He has played in a World cup final, Copa America final, confederations cup final and a Europa league final. He has amazing experience, has a great record and is settled in Manchester.

If DDG leaves this summer I don't believe there is a better replacement available. DDG is arguably the best keeper in the world everyone is going to be a step down.

14.) 17 Jul 2017 10:48:09
I agree with Brendan and Shappy. Although Off my head available keepers that i wouldn't mind seeing come in are
Yann Sommer
If fit Mattia Perin
Bernd Leno

From these 3, if Perin can stay fit, I'd say he will be the only one better than Romero, the other 2 I put at par. But this is just my opinion.

15.) 17 Jul 2017 10:53:18
Shappy, most players are available for the right price. Romero has kept clean sheets against minnows so I don't think there's much weight behind those stats.

I agree, any other keeper is a step down from DDG, does that mean we should go from 'best' to 'backup'? Any manager was going to be a step down from SAF but could we have got better than Moyes? Of course we could. We just chose the wrong man. Something we can't afford to do again when replacing arguably our best player.

16.) 17 Jul 2017 10:59:08
I can imagine that Mourinho may go with Romero this year if DDG does go, with Pereira as back up considering how highly Mourinho rates him.
He hadfaith in Romero at the end of last year so no doubt he would this year.
Allowing us to assess the pair of them and if not happy make a move for Oblak next summer.

17.) 17 Jul 2017 11:14:59
Okay Wazza name who you would buy and how much they would cost?

18.) 17 Jul 2017 11:20:56
There are a reason why Jose has been bigging up Joel Perrera recently and giving Serge the new contract. Dave is off home and good luck to him as he has been truly awesome. Let's get a big wad of cash for him, and take one of Real's players in exchange. Kroos or Bale please.

19.) 17 Jul 2017 12:22:39
If we could swap him for Bale, I'd be happy to play with a "backie"!

20.) 17 Jul 2017 13:10:51
Would'nt want De Gea to leave, but if he did I'd be happy with Romero for a season while we see if Perrera develops into a new number one.

21.) 17 Jul 2017 14:21:04
Didn't ed mention Handanovic?

Just to add, I think Romero deserves his chance if DDG leaves. He hasn't let us down.

22.) 17 Jul 2017 17:25:21
If it was me, I would use all the money to get Hugo lloris, world class and proven. And don't give me any crap about not being available (every player has a price no matter what) . Romero is a very very good number 2 but a decent number 1 at best.

23.) 17 Jul 2017 18:07:29
Shappy, it's really not difficult to find better goalkeepers than Romero because he's about average and as for how much anyone costs I don't really think any views on that matter any more.

24.) 17 Jul 2017 18:25:12
W8506 - Hugo Lloris is going nowhere, I guarantee Levy would have us pay roughly the same sort of figure for him as we would receive for DDG. And this "every player has a price no matter what" is very simplistic. I'm sure for the most part that statement is true, How much do you think Juve want for Buffon? How much would Madrid want for Oblak? Just because a player has a price it doesn't mean its a fair one.

Wazza - I refer you back to Shappy: Which Keeper would you buy and for how much? We have a keeper who has proven to be good for us, is happy playing for us, and doesn't want to leave! You say "hes a couple of mistakes away from the masses turning on him", well shame on those masses (would you be one of those? ), what ever happened to supporting a team.

MBD - Agreed.

25.) 17 Jul 2017 18:45:13
Is Lloris that much better than Romero tho? I've seen him make plenty of mistakes in games, so for me he isn't the upgrade on Romero that would be worth the premium he would cost. As I say, I'd give Romero the chance. Very good keeper, experienced, national number 1, played in lots of big games and finals. Not many out there better, and even few worth the stupid money it would take to get them.

26.) 17 Jul 2017 19:02:48
Wazza you keep telling me there are better keepers available but have so far not been able to name one. So come on who would you sign?

27.) 17 Jul 2017 21:42:09
I hope if we do sell ddg to Madrid then let's make em pay top dollar, they tried to shaft us over marata 80 mill yet reports suggest its only 62 mill to Milan, personally hope they tell em to swivel.

28.) 19 Jul 2017 05:06:38
What Shappy said!

Romero is class and I thought so from the his first game at OT.

C'mon Wazza tell us who we can sign who is better. We're waiting!

09 May 2017 20:39:01
Pogba transfer to be investigated by FIFA. Seems fishy this has been anounced 2 days before a Euro semi final.

{Ed004's Note - or it just happens to coincide with contract leaks? I'm guessing it's to do with Raiola's fee}

1.) 09 May 2017 21:08:02
Why does it have anything to do with Thursday?

Ed - am I right in thinking Raiola's fee was settled by Juve in the end, or is it not that simple?

{Ed004's Note - I am honestly not sure. By briefly looking at the leaks I think us, Juve and Pogba paid him}

2.) 09 May 2017 21:12:28
Over 40 mill was it? Absolutely bonkers.

{Ed004's Note - Apparently so}

3.) 09 May 2017 21:15:24
Well UEFA and FIFA don't really like the English do they? Nice little way to unsettle the favourites who happen to be English.

I like a conspiracy :-)

4.) 09 May 2017 21:23:32
We also settled a 2 mill debt of pogbas cough cough .
The fact raiola's is making 40 odd mil from the deal is a joke different form of 3rd party ownership .

{Ed004's Note - I thought Pogba paid Raiola 2 million?}

5.) 09 May 2017 21:44:56
I think it said united payed 2.2mil that pogba owed to one of raiolas company's.
Issues said to be conflict of interest he represented the player united and juventus .
Will all come out in the wash.

22 Apr 2017 22:05:57
DeGea's house has gone up for sale apparently. Let silly season truly begin 😃.

1.) 23 Apr 2017 07:43:07
Lol I heard he rented anyway. 😂.

2.) 23 Apr 2017 07:48:15
And pple don't believe he is going for £70m. Ain't no fire without a spark. Sad if true but we will survive. We are Man Utd.
Even if Arsene Wenger say we will crash without Ibra we will rise again. We will prove these jealous dumb buns wrong. Wenger just can't take it that Jose will be successful here. He'd wished he was taking over but unfortunately he is not qualified.
Things happened for a reason. Without Ibra Jose will be challenged to use all his brain cells and it will give opportunities to those who works hard for Jose.

3.) 23 Apr 2017 08:23:05
Ironically I think we will be better without ibra going forward because it gives us more flexibility. When ibra plays, we cater for him. Without him I think Rashford gets the nod at 9 and potentially we are a much more dangerous and potent front 4.

4.) 23 Apr 2017 09:05:14
I think Wenger needs to worry about his own team first before criticising others

Sad regarding Zlatan, but that's the harsh reality of football, just need to concentrate on getting Champions League football via winning the Europa League or finishing in the top 4.

5.) 23 Apr 2017 09:59:11
We should try to win the Europa for Ibra and let him and Rooney hold the cup together. Two greats.
Would then be nice to use that to slap Wengers mouth for talking too much. Better if we finish above Arsenal.
Also agree with angel that without Ibra our attack will have plenty of pace. So just need to focus on scoring accuracy.

6.) 23 Apr 2017 10:06:35
Ibra hasn't even been at the club a full season there are one or 2 who deserve to lift the cup before him.

7.) 23 Apr 2017 12:08:40
666 where did you read this whole ddg off for 70mn no one reliable is reporting it, also the house sale rumours come from ever reliable sun.

8.) 23 Apr 2017 13:34:59
News from Asia CSM. Betting contacts putting bets out.

9.) 23 Apr 2017 15:07:21
ohh, hopefully they aren't reliable, losing ddg would be a big problem.

10.) 24 Apr 2017 10:30:57
Maybe he's just moving to a new house?

11.) 24 Apr 2017 18:24:23
lol I love your optimism eric!

13 Sep 2015 08:37:00
LVG to sign a new contract, I know a few on here who'd be delighted with that, were it to happen.

{Ed025's Note - i know a lot who would not brendan..

1.) 13 Sep 2015 08:58:45
Surely not ed? I'm sure Beast, and the like, would be delighted!

{Ed025's Note - LVG is...moyes with money..brendan..

2.) 13 Sep 2015 09:22:53
I hope not. I'm not saying I want LVG sacked or anything but 3 years is enough. His role was to get us back in the CL and potentially challenge for trophies and by the end of next season I feel he will have accomplished that but alluding to a post Shappy wrote a couple of weeks ago, he has got rid of players who were perhaps not good enough and lowered the average age which means we might well have a bright future after his tenure. While we may have a bright future following some of the things LVG has done, he shouldn't be the one to manage us following the end of next season.

{Ed025's Note - its very easy to lower average age stats just buy 2 young untried forwards for squillions of pounds mate..

3.) 13 Sep 2015 09:39:21
I just can't see it, surely we can't be this incompetent. It makes me wonder if the decision makers watch the games.

4.) 13 Sep 2015 09:44:58
Well that's true Ed but he's looked to have a team where the majority of our squad are mid to late twenties and shipped out many players who most would say were not of the quality required. Look at Nani, Anderson, Cleverley, RVP, Rafael, Lindegaard, Evans etc. He's far from my ideal manager and he's made some daft decisions but I think he's done well in getting rid of players who shouldn't have even been there when he took over.

{Ed025's Note - he has done well in that department Rj, but i still dont feel hes the right man long term mate..

5.) 13 Sep 2015 10:20:37
L.E.G.E.N.D chaps, don't question it.

6.) 13 Sep 2015 11:42:44
I hope it happens personally.

7.) 13 Sep 2015 11:48:49
He's always been pretty vocal that he was going to retire after this contract - I don't think he'll change his mind.

8.) 13 Sep 2015 13:50:47
Ed it won't be long term he's just here to sort the mess out so the next chap has easier job

9.) 13 Sep 2015 15:50:41
Common 025, LVG is much better than Moyes. He knows the game inside out and doesn't look like a lost little boy that's out of his depth. His knack of upsetting and falling out with players is a little worrying, but aside from that I think he was and still is exactly what we need.

{Ed025's Note - i think he may be a short term answer prodigal, seems a bit set in his ways to me mate and not everyones cup of tea..

10.) 13 Sep 2015 18:52:48
May be the decision makers think that Giggs needs more time as someone's deputy. May be even Giggs was in favour of it.

11.) 14 Sep 2015 18:58:25
I think giggs needs to manage a smaller club before we ever consider him for the utd job.

10 Jun 2015 14:16:58
Rumours that Real have tabled a bid of £73m for Courtois. I don't believe it is accurate, but if it was, it would be a strange decision on their part, unless DeGea has told them he isn't leaving, which is seemingly unlikely. Silly season is well and truly upon us!

1.) 10 Jun 2015 14:55:15
How on Earth can u think that a club can offer 73m for a keeper ?! I would like to know where did you read it ?!

2.) 10 Jun 2015 15:34:37
Roughly €100m so possibly €50m fee and €10m p/year contract for 5 years? Ok I'm clutching at straws here.

3.) 10 Jun 2015 15:46:41
I wouldn't put most things past Real Madrid, but that one might be a little too far. Definitely going for 'unbeveliable'.

4.) 10 Jun 2015 16:10:22
I really don't think there's a club in the world that would pay more than £30m for a keeper (excluding wages etc.). That's my opinion.

5.) 10 Jun 2015 16:40:47
I don't either Ziko, but this is Madrid! Plus they would get a good 15 years of what is a top quality goalkeeper. If it was just a fee and not wages, which I can't believe for a second, that would be just short of £5m per season plus wages on top, a lot but not if he helps them win a few leagues and CL's in that time,I suppose. Still bull doo doo's though I'd say.

6.) 10 Jun 2015 19:22:01
After all, I'm very sad about him leaving. Doesn't really matter to me for how much 1m or 100m. It's a shame because he will be the best keeper in the world for many years. And I rate him over Neuer and Courtois, and not because he is (was) our player.

7.) 10 Jun 2015 20:09:24
I don't believe that juve and Buffon subscribe to your theory ziko.

8.) 11 Jun 2015 01:54:37
Juve spent more on a gk many moons ago?

Oh no I must be wrong because Juve only purchase work class midfielders for free!

9.) 11 Jun 2015 10:00:52
At the end the correct rumour was that Chelsea put the price tag of 73m, not Real offer :)

10.) 11 Jun 2015 15:54:15
Paper talk to hurry DDG into pushing to leave. Maybe utd won't budge from a price and real trying to penny pinch so piling pressure on DDG to help them get a better deal

Brendan81's banter posts with other poster's replies to Brendan81's banter posts

16 Jun 2019 20:22:29
Just nipped on to say hello. Not posted in god knows how long, do have a regular read though.

So just a quick post regarding our current first team and squad and the huge overhaul needed.

Firstly outs. If DeGea, Pogba, Lukaku, Rashford want out then go.

DeGea has carried us for years and deserves to choose what he does next, i wouldn't pay stupid money to keep him though. Romero will do fine for a season or two and we have a couple of excellent young keepers who may then take over if they kick on, if not buy later.

Pogba, i couldn't care less. If he wants to go then it is on our terms. If they aren't met he can sit on the bench, about time we grew some balls.

Lukaku, didn't want him at the club and still don't. Awful awful awful. I'd rather Rooney back, and the older posters will understand how I feel about Lukaku just from that.

Rashford. Home grown local lad born down the road from me, but if he wants stupid money then he is welcome to go and find it somewhere. Talented, with a chance to be a very good player but not a worldy and i wouldn't pay whatever it takes. It may be paper talk anyway, who knows.

I'd also get rid of Darmian, Jones, Young and Sanchez if there are any takers. Probably not.

At the very least we need a RB, one CB if Bailly stays, two if not, a RW and a quality CM who is an upgrade on Matic, and replacements for Pogba, Lukaku and Rashford if they leave.

A lot of business to be done but I'd do it in this window with the final touches in the coming windows. We aren't going to win the league next season and aren't in the CL so get it done and give the players a good season to settle and then have a go in the 20/ 21 season and beyond. Nothing to lose.

Anyway, i won't hold my breath but hope to be surprised. Stranger things and all that.

1.) 16 Jun 2019 20:30:43
Hi bren hope you are well.

2.) 16 Jun 2019 20:39:54
Good post Brendan.

3.) 16 Jun 2019 22:02:37
Cant disagree with much of that Brendan. Just can't help but feel these are scary times at United. The scale of the rebuild required especially if the players mentioned actually leave is monumental. That's not what worries me. What worries me is the team of people entrusted in carrying out this rebuild. We really can't afford to get it wrong again. Really hope to be proved wrong.

4.) 16 Jun 2019 23:00:03
Brendan another season or two out of the CL will significantly hurt Manchester United as a brand and the executive know this well. They will not rebuild in stages and will continue to thrown ridiculous sums at the Pogba’s, Di Maria’s and $anchez’s of this world.

To note for what is worth, the club has now been ‘rebuilding’ since Moyes. Several years and the longer it goes on the longer the club will slowly dissipate and history will no longer be enough to drive talent throw the door. The entire post Fergie plan has been horrendous.

Mistakes have not been realised, if Moyes was never going to stay then the next successor had to be one of longevity and experience - the club appointment LVG (subsequently now retired) looking to add a quick trophy or two in England to his cabinet and fully destabilise the ethos of the clubs identity. This followed by appointing a winner in Josè whose style was indifferent but again did not get the time nor backing to keep going.

We now have OGS who will not survive the axe in the first half of the season if things do not go to plan because he doesn’t have a CV to fall back on. It is troubling times indeed but the answers or lack of answers must lay at the feet of the executive group.

5.) 16 Jun 2019 23:56:42
Good post Brendan but as the saying goes Rome wasn't built in a day and its just not feasible to buy I. One or two transfer windows almost a whole team and expect them to bed in o Sr just one season. We need patience and a clear direction which is doable and sustainable. In reality things were going downhill in Fergie last two years. RVPs arrival papered over the cracks which already existed. The very best run clubs will always buy new players to freshen up a squad even when they are winning titles and they biy quality. They are also ruthless about jettisoning non performing or slightly past it players. Our club has failed miserably these past seven years. We need leadership from the top which means we need a strong ruthless manager who will not kneel to the Board and owners of the club. Why we need is one who had the cojones to say "this is whaf I need. What you are going to do for me or I walk out"

6.) 17 Jun 2019 06:32:49
Good post Brendan.
And agree with Maze, the planning and execution post SAF has been shambles.

29 Sep 2018 21:14:45
I'm not one to call for a manager to go, but enough now. Mourinho doesn't want to be here, as per Ed002, and never really did. I never wanted the guy, and said before we sacked LVG that we'd end up the same as all his clubs, fighting and a mess, if he did come in. Even so I have, and will, support the team, but its only going to get worse if he stays.

He is making our club a laughing stock, and a joke. It is unacceptable and it needs to end.

Someone asked should we let Carrick and McKenna take over for the season, and I would say why not. Will they do any worse than we are right now or will likely continue to do?

We then need to concentrate the next few months on finally getting the DOF we need, and getting Woodward as far from footballing decisions as possible. He is great at what he should be doing, but football isn't his strong point. The DOF can then spend January to May deciding who the next permanent manager is and working on getting them in, as well as looking at the squad and working on who is to leave and who is to come in.

First out need to be Pogba and Martial. I don't care what they think of Mourinho, I care that they won't give 100% for the fans whilst picking up great wages. No one is bigger than the club, so go in January, we'll be no worse off giving a few youngsters extra time in the first team squad.

We can get to where City/ Liverpool are with a couple of years of planning, but carrying on as we are isn't going to do that, we will just fall further. The club need some balls and to do it now. They were stupid enough to give the contract, so need to bite the bullet and accept they were stupid.

Will it happen? Probably not yet, but it is coming, I have no doubt.

Any way, that is my little input. Now back to the shadows :-) .

1.) 29 Sep 2018 22:45:05
Good post that Brendan - honest but also balanced.

09 Aug 2018 22:33:00
Not posted on here for a long time, a mix of a now 5 month old daughter, being bored silly with the football since the new year and the constant whining on here.

Just going to post this and then disappear again for a bit.

In my eyes, we have a team, and squad, capable of challenging this season, if Mourinho let's the players play. I didn't want him as manager, and still don't, but he is here and I'm not going to waste my time whinging about it. I don't see him being here past this coming season to be honest, but who will replace him is anyone's guess.

We could have signed another CB, LB and RW, but why can't the players we have do the job required? They are more than capable.

We have, arguably, the best GK in the world, and Real have now moved on, which is a huge bonus. Our backup GK is Argentina's number 1, and we have an excellent young GK out on loan in his home country getting great experience.

Are two of Bailly, Lindelof, Rojo, Jones and Smalling really not good enough? They may not be one of the 10 CB's that people wanted on here, as a shiney new toy, but they can all do the job perfectly well, if they play to their potential.

At RB we have Valencia who is still capable, Darmian currently, plus a young, very promising signing who will get chances this season, and could be seen as a great bit of business in the next season or two.

At LB we have Young, who like Valencia, is still capable, plus Shaw who has all the talent, if he can leave the burgers alone and knuckle down and get his head sorted. The talent is there, he just needs to work at his game a bit and stay in shape.

In CM we have Matic, Herrera, Fellaini and McTominay who can all play the defensive side. Fred, who I think will be a revelation for us, and Pereira who can link defense to the forward line, with a bit of energy. Pogba who should be given the freedom to play his game. He has the talent to be the best, he needs to show it regularly and stop dancing like a t*t. We also have Lingard who has improved hugely and can do a similar job to Pogba for me, although not at the same level if both play to their true potential.

Out wide we have Martial, Sanchez, Rashford and Mata who are all hugely talented and can do the job required, again if they get their heads down and play to their potential.
Up top we have Lukaku, who scores goals and works hard for the team. Sanchez, Rashford and Martial could all help out up top if needed at times.

For me, before a new CB, LB or CM was signed this summer, I would have preferred an experienced back up striker to help Lukaku and allow the other players to concentrate playing wider or just behind them. Putting the ball in the net was one of the main problems for us last season, in my eyes.

All things considered, I'm not too depressed going into the season with our squad, with the two main additions, not counting a GK that is unlikely to play.
A team of DeGea, Valencia, Bailly, Lindelof, Shaw, Matic, Fred, Pogba, Sanchez, Rashford/ Martial, Lukaku is good enough to beat anyone for me, if they play to their potential and are allowed to do so by the manager. It is also, good enough to challenge in the league.

For me, it is much more important that Mourinho gives the players the freedom to play, than it was to sign another player at CB or RW. If he relaxes a bit, stops with the 'woe is me' nonsense and let's the team play, there is no reason why we can't have a very good season.

Anyway, back to the shadows for me. Take care people, let's hope we get some better football and less moaning :-) .

{Ed025's Note - very good post that brendan..

Congrats on the little one pal. Hooefully the season goes better than we all thought and we can all have a laugh again soon.

2.) 09 Aug 2018 23:28:56
Brendan, as a visiting scouser to your page, just wanted to say that your post was one of the best thought out and articulated I've read on any of the rumour pages in quite a while. I agree that you have a very good squad. You finished second last year and at times didn't even seem to be trying to be honest. You haven't had any players poached and have made a couple of signings (Fred is in my fantasy team) . Agree fully with your view on Jose. If he let's Pogba off his leash then anything is possible this season. Remember your start to last season? Looking at the fixture list, no reason why this season can't start the same.

3.) 09 Aug 2018 23:32:05
@brendan We have everything but a manager, so its like we don't have a team. I hope we beat Leicester because if we don't this site is going to explode.

4.) 09 Aug 2018 23:37:56
Brenden81. Great post :-) . I'll admit that I think we could do with 1 Or 2 more players but we still have a good team that can beat anyone. Your right about Jose. He has improved us over the last couple of years and the stats do back it up. It's not all doom and gloom.

5.) 10 Aug 2018 00:06:35
Good post bren. Congrats on your new addition. I posted earlier i'm hopeful but not confident. I think we have a coach with a burning desire to win. Its essential that we get a good start. He has to find a way to get the team playing with the same desire.
Jose is in a hole. He needs to find the answers.
We are going into the season with less expectation than any united team for 25 years or so. If they can get on a roll early then with this manager anything is possible.
If we don't then only one thing will happen and that's not a road anyone wants to go down.
Its up to him now to work with what he has and find the impovement required.
I can't wait for tomorrow night.
3 at the back?

6.) 10 Aug 2018 06:55:05
Congrats been hope all are well 😁.

Story in the bullsh*t papers that Jose isn't happy with Lukaku and wants to replace him with Kane in the summer. Absolute nonsence as usual, but i kind of wish it was true. Didn't want the signing in the summer, and nothing i've seen has changed my mind.

His goals so far.
West Ham 2, Swansea, Stoke, Basel, Everton, Southampton, CSKA 2, Palace, Newcastle, CSKA, Bournemouth, West Brom, Derby, Stoke, Yeovil, Huddersfield.

£75m and not one goal against City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs or Arsenal. Not good enough in my eyes. Not our best performances/ tactics of the season, but for that money shouldn't we expect at least one moment of individual brilliance which ends with a goal, or am i just being harsh?

Just not a United player for me.

1.) 11 Feb 2018 21:54:42
I actually didn't want him in the begnining but i think he is getting better every game.

It is the service that is the isssue and we have too many similar players which doesn't help anyone.

2.) 11 Feb 2018 21:54:44
Agree Brendan - not too many important goals either even against the fodder.

He has looked better of late in fairness, he has improved other areas of his game but we are just not a team suitable for the way he plays. Stupid buy, like so many.

Kane needs chances to score as well, I'd wager he would have half the goals he has scored this season if he had been playing for us. Thankless task being a Utd striker.

22 Jan 2018 19:12:42
Glad we have signed Sanchez, he should give us something extra going forward, to go with a great defensive unit at the back.

Hope Miki fails miserably at Arsenal, then re-signs for Dortmund or another oversees club and tears it up again. He has all the ability in the world, but wasn't a great fit in this Mourinho side. Good luck after you leave Arsenal son! :-)

Brendan, mkhitaryan was more interested in performing in the bedroom with ladies of the night than on the pitch with United. In London, the distractions will be even bigger. He'll have a great start at arsenal then fade.

He was invisible in the game against Huddersfield. Shouldn’t have bothered.

I'd be happy to go at this season with our current squad. If players like Smalling, Fellaini etc are happy playing back up roles then keep them. I'd even take Zlatan back for the second half of the season if he accepted a back up role. We look in excellent shape squad wise. Will we win the league? I'm not sure, but we look in very good shape to at least give it a very good go.

For arguments sake, let's say that our first choice formation was 433 and team would currently be DeGea, Valencia, Bailly, Jones, Shaw, Matic, Herrera, Pogba, Rashford, Miki, Lukaku.

We then have an excellent 2nd keeper, who could play for most sides around Europe in my eyes, and a very good young, learning the ropes 3rd keeper.

Our back up defenders are likely to be Darmian, Rojo, Smalling, Blind and Lindelof to begin with at least. I'm pretty sure there are lots of teams who would happily take a mixture of those guys as their first choice defence, and we can call on them as back up.

Midfield we can call on Carrick, Fellaini, Pereira and Blind if needed.

Then going forward we have Lingard, Martial, Mata and Young.

This isn't to mention quite a few promising youngsters. Now to me that is a very good squad. Yes there are some players we would love who could improve us further like Griezmann, but I honestly don't think there are that many players out there, who we would have a hope of signing, that would improve us enough to swap them for what we have. If Jose wanted Perisic still and that meant Young left, then so be it, I wouldn't say he was wrong, but I don't think that he is a necessity and wouldn't be such a huge upgrade on what we can currently call on.

Let's get our heads down, work hard and see where this bunch of lads can take us this season.

I'm with Shappy, it's a no from me. If he was as injury free as Ronaldo it would be a yes, but he isn't and would be a huge gamble at his age and with the way injuries have been going of late.

Liverpool 2nd? Seriously?

I'd go

Spurs (Just think they'll do it this year)
Chelsea (2nd season syndrome)
United (improved but not quite enough yet)
City (lots of new players, just don't see it happening)
Arsenal (Wenger out brigade will be out again)
Pool (Poor defence, don't see them challenging)

I've said before and will do again, for the figures that it would take, I wouldn't sign Bale. Injured far too much, relies on pace a lot which will means he will peak and decline pretty quickly. He may transition into a striker when that happens, bit like Ronaldo, but he doesn't have as much to his game as Ronaldo.

If the price was low enough then I'd give it a go, but for stupid money, no thanks.

Pogba, Martial and Sanchez out. Due to either attitude, not living up to hype or both.

Mbappe, Hazard and Varane in.

Dalot, Varane, Bailly, Shaw
Matic, Pereira, Fred
Hazard, Mbappe, Rashford

Might not be perfect, but I'd like to watch that team.

Very very sad! I didn’t even know the lad was poorly. Thoughts are with his family and friends. From the joy and pride of seeing their loved one doing the thing they loved for England and Scotland’s two biggest clubs, to losing him at 36 years of age. Devastating!

He’s my age too, which brings home how fragile life really is. I’ll give my little girl and wife, who is carrying my second little girl, an extra big hug today. You just never know what is around the corner.

RIP Liam, once a red, always a red.

The word legend is thrown around far too easily these days. Harry Gregg is a TRUE legend! You can only imagine the torture he has gone through these past 60 years.
