If anyone wants a bit of a morale boost, go look at the goals scored by Mason Greenwood tonight in the youth cup against Chelsea. A star on our hands.

Agree totally Caolan, but can you honestly see JM letting him turn out for the first team? If he played for Watford or Bournemouth we’d be out there waving wads of money for him next month. A travesty. On the last live chat some of the more experienced guys here were calling for the under 19s to be rolled out instead of our current crop of Bentley drivers. I’m now siding with them.

17 Dec 2018 22:53:21
He looks really special caolan. Honestly with our season pretty much over I would much rather see us have a go playing him up top instead of Lukaku. I’m sure he cannot do any worse. Obviously we don’t want to rush him but if you are good enough you are old enough. He is definitely good enough.

17 Dec 2018 23:09:48
I think we should be playing him. I don’t see JM doing it to be honest. If JM left let’s play some of these kids and give the next man a platform.

He’s the best thing about our club at the moment, he has the potential to be one of the best, has blistering pace, skill and can finish with both feet. 22 goals in 19 games and Chelsea’s first youth cup defeat for 5 years. The future is bright, shame the present isn’t.

18 Dec 2018 06:54:56
Firstly without going over the top and not saying he will get to that level but there is a bit of the Brazilian Ronaldo about him. However, we have seen this before in James Wilson so let’s give him time. The number of times I have said this but mentally they have to take a step at his age, most don’t but if he does then we have a player. Is he physically ready for the top level is another question. He trained with the first team and was on the bench last week, good experience so we need to do it again and introduce him. He looks wirey, bit like Cristiano at the start. However, our first team issues, the attitudes of some of the players are so poor is it a risk to put him in with them?

On Sunday it was obvious Rashford made far more effort than some if not all, he cared, but for a young lad like Greenwood we have to be careful. The team, the club, the manager are under extreme pressure for results so it is a very difficult place to throw a kid into hoping he swims.

There is one bright spot amidst all the gloom, Mason Greenwood. Another quality performance and a great hat trick against Chelsea, the team that have won the youth cup for the last 5 years.

Great heroic performance by the u18's despite being down to 10 men, and conceding a dodgy penalty. Fantastic grit and pride, a video should be shown to the senior team.

Poch seems to be a lot of people's 1st choice to succeed jose.
Its hard to argue against his credentials and although he has yet to win anything he has done a good job at Southampton and spurs.
He has spurs competing with the best and playing good football. He has also developed a couple of good young players that have come through their academy.
But he has spurs close he has a very good squad that he has built and got them all bar a couple to sign long term deals and signed one himself.
If he takes over united it will take a couple of seasons and 300m to get us to where spurs are now. To be honest he would need a gael force wind behind him to be there any quicker than 2 years.
I think it will be the same for any manager that comes in.
There is no quick fix.
On the face of it we have a lot of players that have great potential. Dalot shaw bailly lindelof. Fred jessie pogba martial rash lukaku sanchez i think tuanzabe can also fall into that category. Chong gomes greenwood may also develop under a new coach.
But ddg and sanchez aside they are guite young.
We don't have real quality behind them.
A lot of those above are prone to injury and are pretty inexperienced . No leaders to bring more out of their potential.
Young valencia herrera darmian fellaini jones rojo periera mctom darmian are just not up to it. Mata and matic smalling are reliable squad players imo and have good experience.
Most of those players have been playing 20 plus games a season for the last 4 years. They are certainly not all poor players but they are not and have not done enough to be part of our squad. imo they all need to be sold for as much as we can and help them get good options.
A squad of dalot shaw smalling tuanzabe lindelof bailly fred pogba jessie sanchez martial mata rash lukaku rash needs to be complimented with a few proven top class consistent experienced pros. With the character to win perform and to bring the best out of their younger talented team mates. To be big enough and respected enough to pull the young guys back into line and keep them focused when they step over the line.
The most important thing for any new coach is to be aligned with the board on his style of play and to be aligned with them on player recruitment.
The players must suit his style whatever that is.
We have been hammering square pegs into round holes for years.
Of all the pl a y we s I've mentiond above with potential to do much better they need to fith the coaches style too. So they will have to adapt.
I think its a huge challenge. Maybe even bigger than the one jose took over.
Im really looking forward to seeing who it is and how he goes about the job.

Good post ken. Whilst I do agree that this squad is weak in some areas, I do feel that it has quality in other areas. If you give rashford, martial, Lukaku, pogba, mata, Sanchez, Lingard to any other top 6 manager and you will see a much better level of performance and output than we are seeing from these players under Jose. Whilst it’s not a quick fix, I think Poch would have this squad playing far better football and have us in the mix for top 4. Yes we do need to spend heavily again on full backs, cb, cm, rw and perhaps striker. But I do think with a proper coaching and hard work on the identity and attacking patterns, we will see some of these players play close to their potential than we are seeing right now.

I had a discussion with my mate whose a Chelsea fan and he said something very interesting today. I’ve been feeling extremely frustrated at certain players such as pogba, Lukaku sanchez and in all honesty would not blink twice if they were shown the door. He told me that the issue here is Jose and that we should not give up too easily on the likes of pogba. In jose’s Final season at Chelsea, he said the Chelsea fans turned on the three rats (hazard, Costa and fabregas) as a result of Jose’s scapegoating and blaming of them. But the following season these players stepped up and won the league. What he’s trying to say is pogba, Lukaku sanchez are not terrible players and we will most likely have a tinge of regret if we see them perform for other sides. He says Jose is the issue and once he is gone and the players are given confidence and positive tactics, we will start seeing some of these players hitting the sort of form we expect from them. I tend to agree with this.

Someone like Poch will get a better tune out of these players. We will see a style of play and a more positive mentality surrounding the club. We will see progression and a team which embodies the manager. Yes it will take time to challenge but at least we would be doing it in the right way with someone who footballing ideology is in keeping with the traditions of the united way.

We saw the huge difference between a team playing with confidence on Sunday.
Klopp hammers his teams into believing they are great, did the same at Dortmund, and they punch way above their weight.
It all inevitably goes south someday, let’s hope it’s quick.

And then you have us playing with no confidence whatsoever.

Simply ok talent I would argue our squad is above Liverpool’s, but they play with the believe of being great and our team is being told it’s not good enough and needs replacing.

Any manager who instills some kind of confidence into this bunch will be back in the top 4 easily and can then build from there.

Ken - For me we have the makings of a very exciting squad but we must move away from the likes of Fellaini, Smalling, Matic and Lukaku who only play because of their physical attributes and not their footballing ability.

In my opinion our team can be transformed with only two or three quality additions. We need a commanding and experienced CB that is comfortable playing from the left. This would be my priority for now.

We desperately need a RW, somebody that has pace, can dribble and beat a man, can cross the ball and also has an eye for goal.

We also need a CM that can compliment Pogba. Someone that passes the ball effectively and efficiently, somebody that can read the game, is positionally disciplined and is mobile enough to press and win the ball back.

In my opinion we need to show patience and trust in the development of Martial and Rashford. If fit they should play every game now. We won't know just how good they can become without a consistent run of games.
Lingard needs a consistent run of games as a No 10 instead of being shunted out on the right all the time so we can properly judge at what level he can operate. Add a quality right winger/ forward to those three and we have a fluid, dynamic and exciting albeit inexperienced forward line.

Shaw and Dalot need a run of games at full back so we can determine just how capable they are. Young and Valencia have been good servants but they are both nearing the end of their careers and the younger guys should be given a chance to prove themselves now. If we add a commanding, experienced CB to play on the left, someone capable of organising the defence and providing a calming influence whilst supplementing the development of both Bailly and Lindelof we'd have the makings of a decent back 4.

4-2-3-1

De Gea
Dalot
Bailly or Lindelof
?
Shaw
Pogba
?
Martial
Lingard
?
Rashford

With three quality additions in those positions I think we'd have an exciting team. It might not be capable of challenging straight away but with a run of consistent games with a brave and expansive manager I think it could develop into a very good team.
Now is the time to give theses young players a chance. We are now so far behind we have absolutely nothing to lose.

What a great thread, I agree with pretty much all the points being raised. We need some quality additions, but a different Manager would get far more out of our current squad.

There seems to be a malaise around the place, you look at Liverpool and City and they play with a smile, they seem happy, so do Spurs, and so do Arsenal this year. Our Manager moping about, scowling and growling must sleep through and impact the general culture.

A Manchester United fans perspective.

Congratulations Liverpool on your win. You were the better team and we have take it on the chin. So as I say well done.

What gets under my skin though is the piling on and the gloating. and yet despite all the turmoil and disharmony at United. again read the piling on and gloating across every media outlet. in the years since SAF left and the huge void created. the honors continue to be added in the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Europa League. and yes I know'll scream these count for nothing. Liverpool continue to be the almost team. this year. next year. the year after. Klopp has still won nothing, nada, zip. what if you miss out this year. again. wouldn't that be so ironic. closing in on 30 years. but not gloating just facts. what if, whilst the biggest team in the league is on "pause" you still can't get it done? . as they say that's the problem with gloating. you really better win it all.

Tick tock.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - You are missing the point - Liverpool are coming out of a lengthy period where they have struggled and suffered gloating from the fans of other sides - it is their opportunity to gloat now. And across social media I have no dount they will take that opportunity. The Liverpool fans have had to learn to be humble (they are not very good at that) and now it is the turn of the Manchester United fans to do the same. The Liverpool fans are masters of the stupid and embarrassing post - looks like you want to give them a run for their money.}

17 Dec 2018 20:34:38
Robertson should have had a 10 with the amount of space he was given. If he had better delivery he would have had 4 or 5 assists. He seems to panic when he has time on the ball, which is strange, because his technique is actually pretty good.

Still, he didn't really have to be on his game given our performance.

Scots I can imagine you have given out your fair amount of abuse to us pool fans, you can’t tell me you didn’t enjoy the years where we struggled to make top four. If you can’t take it, don't give it out.

All sets of fans have idiots and tarnished by trolls on twitter, but I’m afraid you will have to suck it up. FOr years you dominated and now your going through a rough patch and of course rival fans are going to enjoy it. So rather than moaning about us pool fans actually being able to enjoy a win, one we haven’t had over you for about 5 years at Anfield how about switching off social media and let it all blow over.

Just want to add we may, or may not win trophies, but either way I am going to continue enjoying watching my team and see where it takes us. bUT right now I am going to enjoy the journey.

18 Dec 2018 09:47:42
Like it or not, liverpool have been playing increasingly better football over the last couple of seasons and Klopp has got them believing that they can win every game. As a utd fan I don't like it but as a football fan I acknowledge and appreciate it. I live in the north East and folk round here still think its 1996 for christs sake! so liverpool banter goes straight over the head.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Dec 2018 15:51:34
So until it's mathematically impossible for us to reach top four, it looks like nothing will change, regardless of results. I think we can all agree that's ridiculous, but it's United so no surprises there. Only us fans seems to be paying the price as usual. So where do we go from here? I doubt we will we make big changes in Jan, maybe sign one at most, maybe let two go, something like that. No big scale changes due to the inevitable departure of Jose at the end of season. We won't win anything, limp to a 6th place finish at best IMO.

So how could it be better? How could it be more bearable and maybe have something to look forward to again. I think the only way for this, is to start blooding the youth and going for a young vibrant, fearless team. Something Jose has given up on it seems. Stick with them, stick with a core team and leave the others who have had chance after chance and constantly let us down. Bring though, Gomes, Greenwood, Chong etc. Play Dalot, Pogba, Martial, Rash, Pereira. This is why I'm sort of hoping at some point, Nicky Butt gets a chance to step in until the end of the season, the youth teams are the only teams who actually play like we should play. He's give them a chance and then whoever comes in next year, will have decent foundations. Jose might make us think our squad it terrible, but it's not. They are better than this and yes they should take more responsibility, but he doesn't inspire confidence in anyone.

Combine all this, a few decent signings in the summer and hopefully a good DOF and manager (Poch please) and next year could could be the exact opposite to this one. At the mo, it's hard to care, when it seems like everyone at the club doesn't. Its been a waste of a season and it doesn't feel like I'm supporting the same United I have all my life. It's bizarre. So fingers crossed something like this could happen, because at least it would be trying something different to what we have seen this year and going back to our clubs values. I can get over yesterday, but I can't keep seeing our club constantly being dragged through the mud and turning into anything but a football club. So here's hoping.

Mourinho is like most posters on here who understandably can not identify with this new generation of players.

Mourinhos tactics might be outdated, likes of simeone still seem to have success mind, but the biggest thing that is out of date are his man management skills.

He played his team last night leaving out pogba and played a midfield of “his guys” fellaini, matic and herrera (somehow we have managed to find the only spaniard on the planet who can't play with the ball at his feet) and as gary neville pointed out none of them can play.

Agree2 Disagree1

17 Dec 2018 15:34:30
David moyes would get more out of these bunch of players let alone any good manager. He's had plenty of transfer windows and he's bought in each one of them. He got the players he wanted and then wants to replace them as well. A little bit motivation and change in style can make these same players look better.
Henderson, milner and wijnaldum look world class midfield at Liverpool but if they were here we would be crying to sell them to some championship team.

Agree2 Disagree2

17 Dec 2018 16:16:45
I think any of the other 5 managers in the top 6 would be rubbing their hands with the potential of the squad.
- The best goalkeeper in the world
- Two very exciting young wing backs
- Definitely need a commanding centre half (eg. Koulibaly) but have a decent partner in Bailey or Lindelof and a very talented centre half in Tuanzebe coming through
- Midfield really needs to be sorted with at least one top class midfielder that could be partnered by Fred or Herrera to press
- Let Pogba go more advanced and off the leash
- Could do with a top class right attacker but have talented ones like Rashford and Martial with room to improve.

So Leahy I can't agree with you. We don't have the best team but there is talent there. With 3/ 4 top signings and a proper COACH this team can challenge and be entertaining to watch. Cause God knows we at least deserve the latter.

Agree3 Disagree3

17 Dec 2018 17:03:12
I can't agree with you, the wing backs haven't proved anything yet, dalot looks a player alright, pogba Fred Herrera I'd let go of, might keep Fred or Herrera for back up,
Rashford or martial again I'd keep 1 maybe., So that leaves Valencia, Jones, smalling, matic, lingard, lukkaku, fellani, Mata, darmin, rojo, young, mctominay, Sanchez, perrira, what do we do with these boys.

Agree2 Disagree2

17 Dec 2018 17:16:03
Sailor. moyes took over a team that just won the league and got 5th or 6th so i don't think he could do any better with what we have now.
Personally i think we have the 5th best starting 11. And possibly the 4th best squad so winning n with what we jave is a pipe dream.
Id like to see some of our players playing better. But most of them can't i don't think.
Nobody wants to buy all these platters your so find of. No club looking to buy smalling fellaini jones young valencia. Herrera mata matic.
Our manager should be doing slightly better position wise. But could be playing more attractive football no doubt about that
Pogba martial lukaku in particular seem to only try 100% about half the time.
Our fitness levels are very poor. Technically we are poor.

Big challenges ahead. Let's hope those in charge appoint the right coach and give him another 400m because he needs at least that for us to compete.

Agree4 Disagree3

18 Dec 2018 08:29:21
I said we'd be near challenging or at least playing modern attractive football. The last 5 years we've been doing neither. With either not good enough managers or managers from yesteryear with dated tactics. One game pretty much in the last 5 years we played a high pressing attacking football against spurs at home this year. The first half was the best we looked in years. Yes we died in the second half because of our fitness levels and not being used to that intensity. With the right training and coaching we can do it with most of these players. The articulated trucks, Matic, Fellaini, Lukaku must go for us to move with the times and play this type of football. Moyes, Van Gaal and an outdated depressing Mourinho. Doesn't exactly get the blood flowing. Yes it's the players on the pitch and they do deserve some blame but the majority must go to these managers along with questionable running of the club by Woodward.

Interesting read by Gary Neville on the boards naivety giving Jose another contract. Does anyone feel that Jose is angling for his contract to be terminated? it’s almost like his agent said he’s going nowhere to the board and all he’s done since then is criticise the team, make daft tactical decisions and leave out and isolate good players, even more so than previously.
It would be interesting to know how much he would actually gain if he was fired.

Although I take what I read with a pinch of salt I did read recently that it could cost Utd up to £25M to remove Mourinho now.

It also stated that if we did not get top 4 that this would be reduced significantly and hence that the board would wait until the end of the season.

As the Ed’s have stated previously contracts are rarely that simple and there is usually a lot of negotiations that need to be undertaken.

The most important fact is whether Mourinho is the right man going forward but how does Woodward make that decision? Without a DoF does he make it alone or speak to SAF and Sir Bobby?

From an outsider looking in it would appear to be a shambles.

17 Dec 2018 12:36:20
He isn’t angling to be fired, he’s pushing for transfer funds and backing to get rid of players he views as undermining his authority. The club’s mistake was backing Jose at the start of this year with a new contract. This was intended to impress upon players that the club backed the manager, and they would lose any power struggle. But this was immediately undermined by the club blocking Jose’s transfer plan during the summer.

Make no mistake, Jose isn’t the right person to get us back to competing for titles, but the board is absolutely clueless. They fumble from one stupid decision to the next, and don’t have the sense to stick to any one plan. What we are seeing is a club failing in all aspects (except for what the owners really care about $$$$), and this is compounded by a manager that only cares about protecting his own reputation.

Agree4 Disagree1

17 Dec 2018 12:45:45
The big wigs are waiting to save a few million as that's a higher priority over the clubs reputation. The buck should stop higher than the manager. Bad managerial appointments, over two years in appointing a director of football, poor player recruitment policy, overspending on transfers and wages. Any of those should be enough for dismissal. 100% agree Danny. Good post mate. From top to bottom the club is clueless. No plan in the board room nor on the pitch. No identity, no style and no connection with the fans. Sacking Jose does not elimate all the problems that currently engulf the club. But what happens on the pitch is solely down to him. He can complain to high heaven about not getting backed in the summer but there is no excuse for the diabolical performances that we have put in this season. He’s putting his personal differences before the success of the team and that is utterly unacceptable. We may not have a side capable of winning the league, but we are fully capable of challenging for top 4. His position is untenable for me. I dread to think of the PSG games with Jose still at the helm. But as per usual our board are inept and incapable of making a proper FOOTBALLING decision or creating a plan and sticking to it. These are dark dark days to be a united fan.

Can already imagine mourinhos post match press conference where he's salivating over qatars investment and how psg are a big club with big ambition whilst he's stuck with david de gea and 10 planks of wood supposedly.

Great to see Lingard launching his fashion range on the eve of the Liverpool game. Don’t understand why Roy Keane was slamming this. He stated, and I’m paraphrasing, that a professional and committed squad wouldn’t have tolerated that in his day.

Utter rubbish I’m sure. Sir Alex had an eye for an investment and would have appreciated Jessie’s eye for fashion. Surely doing this wouldn’t be a problem. After all yesterday’s match is only 90 minutes out of Jessie’s week. Hardly a full time career so needs something outside of football and his social media to keep a young person off the streets.

Roy needs to let go. He put too much time and effort in to football. Look at home now. Serial winner. Respected as a player. Leader of men. Dare I say a legend.

What he know!

I detect tongue firmly in cheek here.

Here we go anyway, David Beckham was the original fashion footballer of the modern era, before him it was Georgie Best. Well Keane wasn't around to stop Best, Charlton, Law and the rest were. Yet none of them did. Whether attempts were made who knows, yet Best did not change tact even if there were pleas from his team mates.

However, Keane was not only at the club during Beckham's time, he was captain and undisputed leader in that dressing room. So exactly how did Keane not tolerate that behaviour back then? What did he do to stop Beckham being a fashion footballer, and how successful was that? What did Giggs, Scholes, Neville, Butt ect do to not tolerate that behaviour from Beckham?

For me Keane was one of the best midfielders to have ever played for our club. He was everything you wanted from a player at that time. However, his talent on the field isn't matched by a personality off it. He is an angry and bizarrely bitter man. He often talks nonsense which doesn't stand up under scrutiny. He is very much a old man screaming things were different in his day, unable or unwilling to see the similarities and unprepared to accept the world has progressed and moved on.

It's a shame as some of these comments he makes only serve to tarnish the image of a club legend in some fans eyes.

{Ed025's Note - i totally agree shappy mate..

Yh never like roy or anyone else from the early 90s united ever went on nights out and boozed themselves to sleep.

That doesn't exactly scream of the height of professionalism by modern standards, but it was what everyone did at time. The only difference being we were the best team in the country at that point.

Lingard, pogba and rashford are only doing what everyone else their age is doing like keane did before them. If they were winning no one would have a problem with their antics.

We are a poor side because we have poor players and a poor manager and have recruited poorly in numerous transfer windows. Lingard starting a fashion line, pogba getting a haircut and martial posting on social media doesn't change that.

Why our fans have a such an issue with what our players do in their private lives is beyond me.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - because they are professional sportsmen DSG, their playing career should be paramount and getting sidetracked by off field issues is not helping themselves or the club mate..

17 Dec 2018 11:46:01
The big difference is them boys back then trained hard, played hard, gave 100% on the field, they hated losing,
If they lost a game their mentality was train harder next week, they weren't trotting around the field, if they lost the ball they wouldn't be sitting on the pitch throwing their hands up in the air, they would be sprinting back looking to put in a tackle,

Agree Ed but what they want to do in the private lives is up to them. I don't see getting plastered on the weekend any different to having other extra curricular activities.

Take the case of jesse lingard, with a fashion line he is not good enough for manchester united. Without it he is also not good enough for the club, he is just a medicore player that should go on to have an acceptable premier league career like cleverley, welbeck etc have done.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - if the club were doing well it would not be a problem DSG, the fact is the team is awful and performances well under par, supporters will want to know why and will look for reasons why international class players are playing like the dog and duck mate..

17 Dec 2018 11:51:15
Agree with Ed here. Why they start dabbling in other money ventures when they are raking it in anyway what's the point?

I know Beckham did it, but he didn't accompany it with childish videos inside dressing rooms and silly handshakes to highlight what idiots we have in the side. There are no men, they are all kids earning big bucks and not a care in the world. Win/ lose or draw we still get the same stupid handshakes and hand gestures, dancing and singing.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you would think their time would be better spent on the training ground FZZ..

17 Dec 2018 12:09:33
Ridiculous doing this before a big game like that, Keane is spot on, professional football is your career, do summat after you’ve stopped playing or at least launch the thing in the international break.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - exactly WRD..

17 Dec 2018 13:02:16
You would think so Ed.

Footballers nowadays act like heirs to the throne rather than hard working people trying to win a football match for the people that help pay the wages, its as if football is secondary to whatever else they have going on in their life, a little bit on the side we turn up when we like and have a kick about.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i cant argue with that mate..

17 Dec 2018 14:04:22
Couldn’t agree more ed. Nobody is saying footballers shouldn’t not have a life outside football but when you as a team are performing terribly then you are giving people ammunition when you bring out a clothing range on the eve of the biggest game of the season. The current crop of united players don’t understand what it means to play for this club and the mentality is so wrong. It will be a long and unfortunately difficult road back to the top. But until we remove the bad apples from the dressing room and bring in players with a winning mentality, then we will still be in this mess. Of course it’s not helped when the manager is so negative and consistently picking fights with those around him. It’s an utter shambles.

Seems like an odd opportunity just to have a pop at Keane shappy when in fact what he said was pretty much on the ball.

If Keane was in that dressing room now he'd be taking lumps outta them. It was only tolerated in his day because the likes of Beckham did nothing but give 100 percent and was week in week out, top class.

Take this average bunch, more worried about fashion labels, haircuts etc and then going out on the pitch and playing like that, Keane was bang on the money.

LFC season ticket holder/ fan in peace lads.

As much as the man has been a thorn in my side since the 92 season, good to see Fergie fit and well in the stands today.

Anyway, was so surprised Jose decided to bring on Felllani as apposed to Pogba.
And why bring on Martial so late, yes he's been injured but he's been a shining light for you this season.

I Just don't get it. I mean i know we were not great last year and finished 19 points behind City but how have we become so bad. Last season with the same defense we conceded 28 goals all season. We had the 2nd best defense in the league. We gain Luke Shaw this season as almost a brand new player which strengthens us and we have one of the worst defenses now. How can this solid defense that only conceded more goals than City last year now be like this. Last year we conceded 28 this season we have already conceded 29. There are only 4 teams in the prem that have conceded more. I honestly think the whole team has a lack of confidence. Can you imagine doing the great job last year of only conceding 28 goals in 38 games and then hearing your manager in the media tell everyone that we have to get at least 1 center back in as our defense is not good enough. That would ruin my confidence too. Pogba and Lukaku for me are also really lacking confidence. Everyone keeps jumping on the basic bandwagon and just saying they are not good enough and we should get rid of them but no one asks why. My biggest gripe with Mourinho is that the way he speaks and acts just seem to suck all the positivity to himself and push the negativity to the team. When we win he praises his tactics and set up and when we lose he talks about the players not being up to scratch. I think whoever replaces Mourinho needs to be a motivator. These guys have so much untapped potential at the moment. If Rashford, Martial, Lukaku and Pogba played as a front 4 and are full of confidence imagine how lethal we would be. It just really frustrates me. Its like someone who owns a Ferrari and just leaves it in the garage.

Last season matic, de gea and mourinho’s tactics made the defense look way better than it is.
We definitely needed a leader cb at the back with two experienced full backs as well but instead only bought dalot a youngster.
Combine that with mourinho being negative and moaning after the world cup it has all gone horribly wrong for him now.

I actually couldn't believe it when Jose said, "Liverpool is a better team than us". I was floored. Imagine any other top manager of a top team anywhere basically saying, "We are a bad team/ We can't compete. "

Klopp and even Rodgers would concede that some teams had stronger squads but they'd never say what Jose did.
