Can’t wait to see him hold the ball up for the first time. Can’t remember the last time it happened. Zlatan possibly.

Seen this piece about the discussion on the Free Kick “competition”

This should shed some light on the comments, based on this not sure what the big deal is? You practice, you do well in training you earn the right to take it to the pitch

"Juan is the best one when he feels like it, " the Norwegian said per ManUtd. com.

"But they practiced yesterday and Juan told me that Fred was unbelievable in training.

"He scored six or seven on the bounce apparently, and they both felt this was his moment. That was the decision they made there and then. Probably the right decision, but it didn't work out well”.

singh every time you read something about are once great club it sinks to a alltime low. pundits already saying we will make bruno go backwards with ole.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Feb 2020 06:07:49
Pundits always like to kick United when we are struggling, fortunately pundits tend to be more wrong than right.
For the first time in a long time I am genuinely excited to watch a player grace the Old Trafford pitch, I hope he has the arrogance to do well, could he be that Cantona-esq player who galvanises the youngsters and shows them the way forward, we can only hope.

I am looking forward to seeing Bruno, hopefully he will start. Seen many debuts in the last 52 years of watching, none as spectacular as that other Portuguese chap.

Interesting the club are refining the point Ole made because the original post match comment was pathetic.

Good recent form 👍🏼
Little to no risk to the club 👍🏼

We've arguably had a better window than anyone else in the league and addressed two major problems in the squad.

Agree3 Disagree0

01 Feb 2020 00:26:56
We needed a striker to add depth and something different, a 10 that can score and assist and a cm.

In Fernandes we have a 10 or a cm. He really can play very well at 8 and 10 in this league I think. But we won't know until we see.

Ighalo is a good short term option to come in and add numbers, and an option from the bench. With Rash out he can start at 9 and we can play AM from left. If he bags loads of goals who knows. Good chance for the lad.

Very good business. Ole has certainly been supported and without just flashing crazy cash at a shiny bauble that wants a pay check.

Agree1 Disagree0

Ighalo:

Comparatively cheap 👍🏻
Doesn’t cost much👍🏻
Not too expensive 👍🏻
Less spend than Cavani or a quality striker 👍🏻.

If that is the case. He's not bad and a much better option than King or slimani.

31 Jan 2020 21:09:45
Bit of a scattergun approach by the looks of things. So much for the club having a solid coherent plan. Incredible that it's taken so long in the window to identify a forward.

Anyway it seems like we have some experienced PL cover. Add this to the signing of Bruno and the window could have been much worse.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jan 2020 21:33:35
Not really. Decent back up striker with proven pedigree whilst Rashford recovers.

31 Jan 2020 22:26:50
It seems the whole of europe has been taking the same scatter gun approach, every player available has been linked with every club in the world.

The fact that people are moaning about the fact that we will have cover up front I just don't understand, I don't understand much from our fanbase lately tbh.

31 Jan 2020 22:29:31

31 Jan 2020 23:11:21
Wow how we have fallen. Watfords rejected striker is on his way to rescue us from a pub league. What do we expect though being Managed by a failed Cardiff boss and the sacked former Hull boss who advise's him🤣😂.

01 Feb 2020 01:34:01
Haven't played a game and already the usual player bashing. It's a loan for 6 months not permanent signing for 6 years. If some of you were running the club, it would be bankrupt within a year.

Jesus no wonder everybody hates us with some of the fans we have 🤦‍♂️.

Agree3 Disagree0

01 Feb 2020 09:20:46
He might be good for us . But do you think he will be up to speed with the Premier league pace after playing in the China pub league for almost 2 years. Gone are the days when we signed top draw players for the worlds elite clubs whatever time of the season . We are even getting rejected by the players now aswell as the clubs. OGS just doesn't have the pull for players we saw that with Haaland (forget about the cash)
😂🤣.

Ollie is bagging himself a nice few goals and we I'd take Mbeumo too and send his France team mate AM the other way.

So since Lukaku left we knew we needed a striker, a proper number 9 who could lead the line as Martial is iffy. This has been six months and we now just go for numerous has beens and not good enough strikers. What knob in management has not identified the striker and made the right bid to the selling club?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2020 16:58:09
Clubs are very reluctant to sell strikers in Jan.

I think Dembele could have been an option, but Depay’s injury means that he isn’t available.

The big mistake was selling Lukaku at the end of the summer window. The player and the manager wanted the transfer but the club dragged things out with Inter to secure an extra few million. That left us with no time to replace him in the summer, and no one to replace him with now.

There’s a reason that we’re looking at Josh King, and it isn’t because he’s a top quality striker.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jan 2020 17:07:45
It does feel like we've missed out on a gem in Halaand, would have been a great player to have in this squad.

I like the idea of Josh King but for the price being mentioned it seems crazy.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jan 2020 17:13:57
The usual knobs.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2020 18:08:29
It was always intended that Martial would be first choice striker, that is why he was given the No.9 shirt and a big new deal.

What the club needed was a reliable back up/ rotation option to Martial. In the summer that’s a hard-enough gig to sell, but during the January window only players who are out of form and not playing will up sticks and move with little chance of their playing time increasing.

We aren’t attempting to sign a genuine top-class player to be first choice, we are looking for a player who is happy being second choice to Martial and who won’t be here long term and block Greenwood.

That was always going to be a short list.

As for keeping Lukaku he wanted to leave, his poor under Ole was poor and he isn't the sort of striker who would have been happy to play second fiddle to Martial.

Agree2 Disagree0

31 Jan 2020 19:02:16
Who s responsible for leaving this for the last minute? We already started the season with no replacement for Lukaku. Then we lost Rashford too.
I still think that for a competently managed club there was enough time to look and sign a replacement. not us apparently.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2020 20:15:51
We shouldn’t be looking for backup to Martial. He isn’t a no.9 who will score 20 + goals a season. We should be recruiting a top quality striker in the summer so that we go into 20/ 21 with healthy competition.
We won the treble with Yorke, Cole, Sheringham and Ole.
We had Ronaldo, Rooney, Berbatov and Tevez too.
This talk of bringing in Ighalo, Slimani or King is a joke and shows the small minded mentality of Solskjaer.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2020 21:37:06
God this is boring. I think it’s sensible from the club whisky we work on long term squad building. This day and age everyone thinks they’re an expert at everything and want instant success. Ridiculous.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Feb 2020 01:41:43
Agree it's getting boring. Like I said earlier if some posters were managing the club it would be bankrupt within a year. Spend 100 million on a striker in January. If he doesn't meet expectations just spend another 100 million in the summer window.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Feb 2020 12:06:20
I’m not saying spend £100m in the jan window. Are you telling me the absolute best we could manage was a 6 month loan for Ighalo who’s been playing in China for the last 3 years.
I sincerely hope I’m eating my words come May.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2020 11:26:19
As a player he does fit the mould, unfortunately his attitude has been questioned at many times during his career. Also the way he forced his way out of West Ham wasn't good.

He might be a disruptive influence in the dressing room, and I don't think the club needs that.

Agree3 Disagree0

31 Jan 2020 14:58:55
I would for 6-12 months. can't get out of China though due to travel restrictions cos of virus. Im reading in tabloids Chinese league has shut down because of it so maybe the football authorities will find a way to let them join European clubs but would mean extending the window . seems a logistical-administration non starter to me. probably tabloid tosh.

And he might have to sit in quarantine for a month anyway at Heathrow!

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2020 09:37:53
From what Eddie Howe has said, I wouldn't rule out a deal for Josh King actually happening.

Would prefer Callum Wilson though!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2020 10:32:52
ole playing it coy as usual. basically whatever he says in his presser, the opposite will happen lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2020 11:28:26
Callum Wilson isn't really a back to goal striker, but he does work hard, link up well and create chances for his teammates. I agree I think he is a better shout than Josh King.

Agree3 Disagree0

31 Jan 2020 12:24:47
I don't rate Wilson particularly highly but even if I did, Bournemouth will want a lot of money for him and we surely shouldn't be throwing huge sums of money for a back up striker?

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2020 14:17:31
I, m not saying he would be my first choice, just a better one than Josh King.

And he would score his fair share of goals too. He would certainly work harder and show more desire than the hugely inconsistent Martial.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2020 14:55:49
I'm stunned and not a little disappointed that these are the calibre of players we're talking about. I know we're in a state but dear Gods!

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jan 2020 15:13:00
Scooby, we not looking for a world class first choice striker. Even if we were there is no chance of getting one in January. We need a short term, solid squad option.

With Sanchez and Lukaku leaving in the summer and now with Rashfords injury. We have Martial, Greenwood and James as our only fit forwards.

Of which Martial is injury prone, Greenwood has just turned 18 and is in his debut season and James is playing at this level for the first time in his career.

If those three are fit and scoring goals then we will be looking to Andreas Pereira and Jesse Lingard to do so.

Although someone like Wilson or King might not be first choice they are attainable and would offer us a goalscoring threat and an option off the bench.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jan 2020 16:24:09
I think bournmouth said they are not attainable.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2020 17:48:27
Shappy King has scored 3 times this season! Some threat that is.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Feb 2020 02:40:55
If your throwing out those stats Scooby then you could also throw in this one.

Outside of the top 4 teams josh king has scored more premier league goals than anyone bar vardy. In a Bournemouth team that doesn’t really create.

Yeah some threat that is let’s bin him off because he isn’t a shiny high profile player that only came to us because of money.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Feb 2020 10:27:35
Gazza. amazing but it's still only 3 goals all season! Naff all to do with your last line. Shappy described him as a threatening presence. Purlease!
