I'm Confident That Arne Slot Can Turn Liverpool FC Around

{Ed's Note - PatrikBurgher has posted a new article entitled, I'm Confident That Arne Slot Can Turn Liverpool FC Around

21 Oct 2025 11:38:23
What an egoistic article. "United were poor", sure buddy! How about, United won it easy, they let Liverpool play and struggle, and when United needed to score, they did so?
Ofcourse, that is not what happened, but taking away this win from United is shameful.

21 Oct 2025 17:43:56
United have often struggled to play out from the back. Teams have studied the way they try to do it and boxed us in, often winning back possession quickly. It's driven me mad to watch us keep doing the same thing again and again with the same result. Onana was won't to give up a couple of goals a season trying to do it and so was de Gea. Playing the long ball keeps the opposition honest. In any event a study of long balls confirmed that while United hit something like 90+, Liverpool hit 85. Hardly tika-taka.

Sure Liverpool were unlucky to hit the woodwork 3 times and miss a sitter, but Bruno also grazed the woodwork, de Ligt headed just over and Mount came close. And, most important, just when everyone might have thought Liverpool would go on to win it they conceded a goal to a fantastic volleyed cross and perfect header.

Teams are not obliged to set themselves up in the way that the Liverpool manager has planned for. I think we did that at home last year somewhat naively and lost 3-0. Slot then crowed about his own managerial skills at having predicted how United would play and planned accordingly. Sorry mate. Arrogance will be the downfall of Liverpool as it was for United.

I work in Liverpool for my sins, my manager is a Liverpool fan, weirdly he’s not spoken to me so far this week despite me trying my best to engage in a conversation. I finally managed to speak to a Liverpool fan today who informed me “you’s were awful we were just worse”. Made me laugh, I don’t think any Liverpool fan will ever give us credit.

I remember a similar conversation after the 2-2 last season despite the fact we nearly won it, no credit for our performance. I absolutely love the bitterness, it’s hilarious. Comes through in the above post as well. Hey Patrick, any credit for united’s tactics, fight and performance or did we win at Anfield ‘only’ because you were poor?

Excellent journalism from the Guardian here regarding Sesko.

I Want Our Trophy Back has written an article entitled, Manchester United v Liverpool Review

20 Oct 2025 15:36:26
Looking at the season so far we're probably at least as well off as anyone would have expected with 4 of the first 8 fixtures against Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and City. We have lost 3 times. We were arguably the better team against Arsenal, and if Bruno puts the PK away against Brentford and their defender had been red carded, as he should have been, that defeat may never have happened. We got taken to the cleaners by Haaland and Doku for the loss that had no +ve lining.

Yesterday we finally got some luck. It's a vital ingredient. Liverpool hit the woodwork 3X and Gakpo missed a sitter, but we also might have scored more. People are making excuses for Liverpool's new players suggesting that they need time to settle. I won't get into that debate, but the same can be said at United. We have a brand new forward line, we have Bruno playing further back, and we have a new goalkeeper. Even Mount can be regarded as a a new player given his injuries. We are creating opportunities. After yesterday there has to be some guarded optimism. Hopefully those of us who have been drifting into or were firmly in the Amorim out/ can't win with this system camp, will be proved wrong.

There is no substitute for confidence, particularly in front of goal. I'd like to see Cunha finally score. He needs to break that duck. When that happens I think we will start to see this group begin the process of bringing United back to the top table. We're only 3 points off City in 2nd, we have a light schedule, there's no excuse for fatigue and, what's most important is that there seems to a real sense of team spirit.

Well done the manager for picking the right team and ignoring the opprobrium of many of the pre-match punters on this site!

Luck, confidence, team spirit/ togetherness and graft. We need all of those. It was a great win against a Liverpool side maybe short of some of those qualities at the moment, but it's the next game that counts. The coach's muted excitement after the game shows he gets it. We can but hope the players get it too and we're not going to follow it up - as we have been won't to do - with a lacklustre display.

20 Oct 2025 16:46:58
Id say lots of ups and downs to come for us this season.
I wouldn't predict where we will finish. Much depends on a good Jan window.
Not over reacting to any win or loss is the way this season imo.
We are making progress i think that's what everybody here wanted. Its a much more competitive league this year. A couple of wins on the spin will move you up hald a dozen places a couple of defeats on the bounce could move you down 6 places.
Its a time to support the club. Not any individual.
If united do go on a good run just watch ill bet you amorim becomes the media darling.
So many swayed by what they read and see from pundits who are often badly failed managers.
Our fans give out about players being filled there when they are more fickle themselves.
People post on here and they are more up and down than bonnie blues underware. ?.

20 Oct 2025 17:51:31
Am I missing something, I'm pretty sure we won against Chelsea and Liverpool, so that's 2 wins and 2 losses in those four games against the top four. Of which we probably deserved to win against Arsenal.

20 Oct 2025 22:00:35
At this point I think she just leaves them down.

21 Oct 2025 09:54:05
The games thought we would win we didn’t, the games we did win, we probably didn’t expect to.

21 Oct 2025 04:37:12
And lost against Brentford and Grimsby, like I say the big games take care of themselves with us, but we are dreadful in the so called little games, that further proves mentality problem or the coaching team is incapable of rousing the squad.

20 Oct 2025 12:26:36
What a result that was.

Firstly. I'm buzzing for Amorim that all his decisions delivered - I've been concerned about how things will go for him with his system and I'd, regrettably, drifted a little into the Amorim-out camp, but now I've been brought back a little. I think that, perhaps, the unpredictability and workrate of Cunha up top has, with Mount on the left, added a new dimension to the movement of parts.

Secondly. Fernandes has taken flak for how he performs in a deeper role - I'm not a fan of it per se, but when he can provide a truly world-class contribution like that he can shut me up all over again.

Thirdly. In terms of players criticised, the enigma that is Maguire delivers a timely reminder of his power and purpose.

Lastly. I'm loving the Liverpool meltdown now. Some of them have, rightly, been belly laughing at us for so long, but now what? Isak and Wirtz looking lost, Frimpong looking average, MacAllister and Gravenberch looking ponderous, Slot maybe now realising how good Luiz and Elliott actually were for them, rumours of discontent behind the scenes - oh, how my belly rocks.

More of the same please.

20 Oct 2025 13:24:47
Sorry, Mount up top with Cunha on the left - doh!

20 Oct 2025 15:15:45
I’m not sure why they’ve been laughing at us. They haven’t beaten us at Anfield in over two and a half years.

21 Oct 2025 07:18:44
Redseven they have been laughing at us we finished 16th last season.

21 Oct 2025 09:27:22
Dio. I was joking, although looking at the results between us over the past few years, Liverpool have very little to brag about. Sure, there have been a couple of good thumpings here and there, but they’ve only won five of our last twelve meetings, with us winning four of the other seven.

Obviously, there can be no disputing who’s been the more successful team over that period when it comes to silverware, but they’ve hardly dominated us, like we’ve done to them on multiple occasions over the past few years. We won eight out of ten meetings between 2012 and 2016 and nine out of twelve between 2003 and 2008. That’s what dominance looks like, and the former came during our “banter” era.

20 Oct 2025 11:04:28
Anybody got any paracetamol? ?.

20 Oct 2025 12:17:51
Bro, never mind paracetamol, i live in Dubai, I already missed work, its 3pm! So fsr I've had 2 hangover drips delivered, one usually works instantly, I've now also ordered an energise drip because I am like a swollen throated geriatric zombie.

I sound like Barry White but I look like Mrs Overall from Acorn Antiques (if ya know ya know)

. and couldn't be happier if i woke up to find i'd grown another cock!

This result is massive for another reason that maybe hasn't been covered. The scousers cheerleader pundits have turned on esch other already, the sacred law of not letting united back out kf their fall from grsce is gone from Anfield, and csrrsgher thinks Salah is past it and maybe only starts at Anfield and only agsins lower teams, Redknapp went after Wirtz and Isak, murphy thinks the 4 new players are already showing they can't deal with the pressure at liverpool, souness clsims the dressing room is fractured, warnock thinks frimpong is a better player than salah, my favpurite is Klopp, whilst saying he might one day return after being sskkng if he woukd replace slot, who 2 polls this morning have as the overwhelming favourite to be the nwxt manager sacked, and nailed on iff they lose to frankfurt on weds, he points out he turned down united as the project wasnt for him as they were buying the top. players in every positon and planned tl soemd their way to a harlem globetrotters list of players, just like liverpool did this summer.

The cracks just became chasms. I for one, after all their crowing and abuse during our disaster dozen in the wildnerness will pouring sulphuric acid into those mental open wounds. When we were on top i pitied them ans felt empathise but after their rise and the attitude, i'm already everywhere online doing more posting than pat and his black and white cat!

20 Oct 2025 12:50:33
Bit early to be writing obituaries. The irony of you doing the same that you slate them for is palpable CO.
Wait in the long grass and talk when its time to talk.
We will have lots of ups and downs ourselves this season so its not time to be dancing on their grave just yet.
Good win and another baby step in the right direction its no more than that at this stage. Finders crossed it keeps improving for us.

20 Oct 2025 13:52:33
Yes great win, but some perspective please, we have never had problems getting up for these games, it’s the ones we are expected to breeze through that is the main cause for concern, yes celebrate this victory but fingers crossed we don’t go throw it all away in next 2 games and all that’s left is bragging rights over the scousers. Great win but it’s only 3 points.

20 Oct 2025 20:16:47
I'd say we had a few problems getting up for these games when they were putting 6 or 7 past us, mate.

But I agree with your point.

21 Oct 2025 05:08:24
I agree with Amorim. its one big game given the opponent and the grounds but it will mean very little if we do not back in up with a win at home and away to forrest who are very poor.

Win games and it quiets the media and the noise. I have been one of the people who did not think amorim will make it and hope he proves me wrong.

We beat a city team that was in a bit of a crisis last year like liverpool are atm but then did nothing afterwards. Genuinely hope this is the start of something of a decent run of results. Win the games we are suppose to and become hard to beat even when we are off.

we are well within top 5 places and it would be great if we are in there fighting it out to get back to cl football, another summer of transfers in and out and move another step forward.

20 Oct 2025 07:39:28
Absolutely great result yesterday!
Starting to feel the embers of Utd being stoked a little.
I am not expecting miracles but could this result just be the start of better consistency. I am not holding my breath but boy, surely this must give the team, manager and back room staff some confidence moving in to the next game and further ahead. Momentum is everything. I was really beginning to lose faith for the first time in 50yrs but there's certainly more positivity in me now.

Come on Utd let's get going!

20 Oct 2025 08:33:23
We looked well up for it Bruno was everywhere the first 20 minutes.
The one I think that makes us tick is casemiro though we looked far better in the middle when he's playing ugarte looked lost when he replaced him.
Special shout out to Cunha and mbeumbo though they gave the Liverpool centre backs he'll especially mbeumbo against the mighty can djik best centre half in the league ever he is not.

20 Oct 2025 10:52:17
Cas been very good this season. A real Rolls Royce of a player. Just wish he was five years younger.

20 Oct 2025 16:33:05
I actually thought Ugarte made some vital interventions in the latter stages, he's just not good enough on the ball unfortunately.

20 Oct 2025 16:59:29
There is little calmness in his game silly and lots of what assists to be panic but your right imo he did make a couple of very good blocks and tackles.

Is Liverpool FC In A Crisis?

20 Oct 2025 07:39:03
{Ed's Note - LFC-S MANGO has posted a new article entitled, Is Liverpool FC In A Crisis?

20 Oct 2025 07:49:39
Not going to read such articles because 4 losses in a row is clearly a crisis but an observation. Spending massive amounts on several players looks to have unsettled the rest of the team, it looks like the other players are going, well you are a £100m or very expensive player, off you go and win the game for us ordinary ones then. Lost the spirit of a team a little. It looked like major surgery when it didn’t need it.

20 Oct 2025 08:16:12
In a crisis? I for one blardy well hope so ???.

20 Oct 2025 09:48:07
I would not say its a crises.
Its not surprising they over achieved last season. They massively over achieved this season in their 1st 5 games winning 4 of them in extra time.
They signed good players it will take time for them to gel.
Left themselves very short at the back in the squad. 3 of their most expensive signings didn't start yesterday.
Im not convinced by slot at all and have not been since the start but he did well last season but their play imo was not good.
Too many football fans imo place too much emphasis on individual players as opposed to the team.
Nice to get one over them but I've seen posts on here slagging their fans for their reaction to this loss by the same people who do the exact same here. I suppose its just soccer fans acting like their sterotype. Pretty stupid.

20 Oct 2025 10:43:02
Not going to pretend I know every in and out at Liverpool but would say one thing.

Trent Alexander Arnold was a unicorn type player who was amazing on the ball (kdb, beckham level passing and crossing) . Criminally under appreciated in this country.

The idea he could be replaced by conor bradley or frimpong is laughable and surprising from Liverpool who are so data driven with their recruitment.

20 Oct 2025 11:39:34
Good post dsg.
It takes time to put a new elements of a team together, Implement new systems with players taking time to adapt to me coaches.
At the moment I don't think the manager knows his best 11 which is understandable.

21 Oct 2025 05:17:01
They have a great squad of players. The new players they have are all top quality but they need time in the league and a new team. I think Losing Jota bless his sole is a massive loss for them. They are light at the back but that's about it.

Salah is really off form and last year he had something like 50 goal/ assists if i am not mistaken and they are very dependent on him.

Once they gel they will be a difficult team and will still be there come end of season challenging for the league imo.

20 Oct 2025 05:37:50
Affer all that he has gone through, whenever Harry Maguire scores a goal, it has a different feeling to it. But when Maguire scores a late goal it adds a different dimension and when that goal is the winner, it feels good and when that goal is against Liverpool, it is fecking awesome and when it is at Anfield its simply out of this world.

What a feeling to wake up with.

20 Oct 2025 03:51:44
Couldn't catch the game other than the last few minutes. Had a question - how was Lammens?

20 Oct 2025 08:16:58
Very good.

20 Oct 2025 08:28:54
Was solid am2 claimed a couple of crosses one really good save from isak nothing he could do about the goal.

20 Oct 2025 12:24:38
Thanks folks. Great results ofc, and hopefully the start of a settled backline with a GK everyone trusts. I think that's going to be so key to building any kind of momentum.

20 Oct 2025 12:25:20
The best compliment I can give him at the moment is that he is composed, that composure translates to the defence who look more settled.

These are early days, but you can see green shoots.

20 Oct 2025 12:33:58
Also did brilliant to close the angle on what looked a sure goal for Salah. Very fast of his line and a big punch from a corner when Van dijk was well positioned.

20 Oct 2025 17:01:30
O made that point on the chat caolan. i'd was very good keeping. He was out like a flash in his face. Went noticed by the commentator but I think he did enough to rush salah.
I like what I've seen from him to be honest.
