So the club have put it out there that they are wanting to liaise with the fans and gauge our opinion on the design of the new stadium??? .really? They're putting that out now, are they taking the P?! We all know they don't give a **** what we think, but surely there are more important issues going on currently.

On that point I've read the quotes from Carricks presser, seemed he gave an impassioned speech about the club etc. clearly he cares, clearly it matters to him and we appreciate him for that but it sounded to me like a guy who knows he's gone. tbh caring is all well and good but I'm certain he doesn't have the personality, the power or the tactical ability to take us where we need to go.

23 Oct 2026 15:14:35
That speech was written by the media department and delivered by Carrick.

23 Oct 2026 23:38:50
Another blow into utd. not sure how much more I can take. It’s literally heart breaking what's going on, a real mess created by owners who don't care.

23 Oct 2026 06:20:46
In the past I've always tried to back the manager for as long as possible but it's clear the players don't want to play for Carrick.

When your captain comes out and speaks publicly about his tactics, you would think it's the thoughts of many of the players, so I don't see the point in delaying the inevitable.

What I don't like is that the players, who have always failed to deliver a functional high press btw, have completely rejected a different type of tactic. Player power is clearly rife and not giving the manager a real chance.

Therefore, the next appointment needs to have a strong character with a CV that they can't question. It has to be Conte for me.

What a mess my club has turned into. There is a sham club across the city but there are sham owners inside our boardroom.

23 Oct 2026 09:24:19
Park
Unfortunatly i'd very much doubt conte would even be in the running. He would call someone out within a month.
This board and ownership won't be questioned if there was any sense wilcox would be gone.

Instead he will pick eddie howe who was lucky to last the season at newcastle.
Players that have had upteen chances under different managers will get another go! until we have a full clearout it will be rinse and repeat.

23 Oct 2026 09:27:40
I'm not sure it matters at this stage. This club is badly broken and if I was a player I'd be asking my agent to get me out and it's a big risk for a quality manager to take on right now. Give it to Phil Brown for all I care.

23 Oct 2026 09:57:00
Lets not kid ourselves, it will be someone who is another yes man or not good enough. Kieran Mckenna or Southgate come to mind.

The club will appoint to its level, which is a midtable team with no aspiration. No doubt SJR or Wilcox will make a statement trying to gaslight the fans into thinking it was a good decision.

Sick of this ownership, the players and the club as a whole at the minute.

23 Oct 2026 11:25:28
Howe is the only realistic and sensible option.

Not a sexy name so many here will deride the choice. But he's the only logical choice right now. Nobody else worth their salt would want it.

And I think the last thing we need is another "master tactician" like Nagelsman confusing the clearly very basic players we have.

23 Oct 2026 13:12:31
Eddie Howe really isn't good enough and if we go down that path we will be no better off in a years time.

23 Oct 2026 11:56:00
Eddie Howe is no better than Carrick. Conte is mental. He'd be off in 2 months with a strop. Nagelsmann would be a major risk. The only credible successor to steady the ship and to progress the cub would be Unai Emery.

23 Oct 2026 13:42:00
Howe isn't good enough for what exactly?

We don't have a squad capable enough to win trophies or implement complicated strategies. Someone like Conte or Naglesman would run into the exact same issues Amorim did. Players that don't have the ability to do what's asked of them.

Our squad is at a level where they should be battling for the last CL place. That's where we are. The only way we'll improve is by getting regular CL football and bringing in a director of football/scouting team capable of identifying quality players early in their career.

Howe has proven that he can get results with limited squads. His approach is simple, but far more competent than Carrick's. Howe and a proven director of football could help lay the foundations for bringing in an elite manager a few years down the line. People need to stop buying into the club's BS that were a big club. We're not. United are not equipped for an elite manager. Howe is the level we're at.

23 Oct 2026 13:50:35
To move on its need to remove Wilcox. Let Vivell pick the next manager. The choices Wilcox has made, have failed drastically.

23 Oct 2026 15:57:07
Vivell and nagelsman?
I think the whole coaching staff will need to go, so it would be a very big change.

They will desperately want a turn around in fortunes.

23 Oct 2026 17:01:09
DB,

The current coaching setup isn't good enough. If Carrick goes, then whoever the new manager is, will bring in their trusted coaching staff.

23 Oct 2026 17:30:48
Did I just read Howe is no better than Carrick?

23 Oct 2026 18:00:22
What under strength squad did howe have success with? .
Eng rb eng lb now a barca lw aresenal cm Liverpool striker. He had plenty of good players. Yes he got them playing well for a coule of seadons but imo he should have done better with that team than he did not withstanding the fact that he did pretty well. But never as high as 3rd.
He would be a seady eddie.
Might be a decent shout short term to take over mid season he seems like a good calm charachter he is used to working in a nuthouse restricted environment.
He would not be my choice but neither was carrick ole or eth so that in itself suggests Howe has a good chance of getting it?

Id rather go with naglesmann or conte and let a looney run the asylum for a bit it might be just what the doctor ordered.

24 Oct 2026 12:11:54
Howe is no better than Carrick is one of the best posts on here. This club has no bloody chance because if we get Howe it's a great move but there are fans who would only want someone with a foreign name and actually think he's not a better coach than Carrick!

23 Oct 2026 00:43:05
Apparently, the club has no intention of punishing Bruno for his comments.

Results and performances on the pitch have been embarrassing for a while now, but for players to come out and criticize the club's management in consecutive weeks only to be back in the starting lineup a few days later is beyond a joke and indicative of just how far standards have slipped over the past decade or so.

SAF would have dropped these players for their poor performances long before we ever got to this point, but if anyone ever pulled anything like this, they'd never play for the club again.

23 Oct 2026 02:41:00
Terrible but also really does show the mess we are in that players are now coming out and publicly expressing opinions. Something is deeply wrong with the culture.

23 Oct 2026 03:39:18
Carrick is a problem, but Bruno is also a huge problem.

I am personally tired of seeing Bruno, maguire and shaw season after season after season.

I feel we play better as a team without Bruno. And was personally happy carrick subbed him.

If I was carrick I'd sub Bruno at half time or 30 mins the next game. The guy always cries let him cry more.

I'd give carrick more time and stop playing Bruno if he knows better than the manager. I do not think lacey would be worse than our current forwards.

What is up with Cunha and Carrick?

Zirkzee as a striker looks miles better than our false 9s. I agree that he's not the best player out there, but I'd personally give the guy a run of 4-5 games to get into some rhythm or momentum.

23 Oct 2026 05:07:18
I think Bruno has become a problem rather than always being one. The state of the club has broken him I feel and the perpetual promises of an improved team around him have finally taken their toll.

The problem is that the clear out has never really happened and now we are faced with shifting pretty much a whole team.

2028 is a pipe dream as were the many mentioned 2-3 year plans that people clung onto.

It's a cluster of the biggest variety.

23 Oct 2026 05:57:39
People talk about the state of the club, but for me, the biggest problem is the dressing room culture.

Players are not prepared to fight for the badge. They don't run, and the second things start going against them they throw in the towel. Now, they're publicly blaming the management and owners rather than taking some accountability for their god awful performances.

Don't get me wrong, I know that the owners are leeches, and I don't think that Carrick has what it takes to be a top Premier League manager. But these players have no pride, no passion, and no hope in hell of winning anything unless there's a drastic attitude adjustment.

Carrick and the club need to be stronger. Allowing players to make comments like the ones we've heard over the past week or so is about as spineless as it gets. They may as well be agreeing with them.

If it were me, I'd get rid of the lot of them and play the under 21s instead. They might get us relegated, but at least they'd play for the badge.

23 Oct 2026 08:03:16
Surely they have to punish him in some form?? They fined Martinez the week before for the same thing? Or does it only count when u call out Wilcox?!

23 Oct 2026 17:04:37
I remember RvN last season at the club. Louis Saha was chosen to play over him, as the team played better with Saha up top, rather than RvN.

The team played better football, as opposed to directly playing to RvN, becoming predictable. The summer transfer window opened up, United sold RvN. I great player, but his time was up.

Every club need to make those difficult choices. Imagine if Bruno sold last summer. The club could have bought 2-3 new players.

22 Oct 2026 23:31:56
Do I need to keep updating people with CATW %'s?

Looks like most have seen what was been advised.

Ah what the heck.

18.2%!!

Bye bye Michael.

Oh hang on, I have a few Bournemouth lads in my fantasy team, hang on for one more game ?.

22 Oct 2026 21:12:42
Eddie Howe it is. Crumbs.

22 Oct 2026 22:13:47
Shaw new contract incoming, honestly think it can get worse and it just does.

22 Oct 2026 23:11:59
What's happened? Seems a simple, safe pick as he's available. Not that I agree with it. Will wind up the geordies though so every cloud!

22 Oct 2026 23:18:24
Eddie Howe is about where the club is at now. I can't see anything confirmed, but he would be a decent appointment.

Howe can get EPL results with a limited budget. Rather than kid ourselves with winning the league next season, it's better to bring someone with the goal of consistent champions league. This is our level, and will likely remain so given the debt.

22 Oct 2026 23:26:04
Good coach - still young in football terms. Plays decent football, good epl experience. Won't set the place on fire like Conte would.

{Ed0666's Note - And when it rains it pours

22 Oct 2026 23:26:59
The least inspiring appointment. To take over from the least inspiring current manager.
Nothing will change.
Best in class apparently.
We need a banner at OT that every time inoes f**k up we can add a few more years to winning that title.

{Ed0666's Note - I’d be fuming

23 Oct 2026 02:39:15
Twenty. Not such a bad idea. A banner showing how long it is since we won the league would be an embarrassment to the embarrassing owners.

Or one counting down the days to 2028 when we are allegedly going to win it by.

23 Oct 2026 10:24:35
He seems a safe and obvious candidate. Although his sides tend to be a bit leaky at the back.

22 Oct 2026 20:29:19
Currently watching the Bournemouth game and I tell u what I think they might just do for Carrick on Sunday. They've been excellent, full of energy, industry and quality all things we currently lack.

22 Oct 2026 18:51:15
LFC fan here.
The comments I see here are almost identical to those on the LFC site last year. The most telling on both sites are those about players seeming not to be fit or if fit just not putting the effort in or not fighting for the badge which is incredible as it's the very least you would expect at any level of professional sport!
We seem to be turning a corner under AI but it's still painful at times.

Hope you guys get the right manager after MC who is surely finished now as the league needs a strong MU.

22 Oct 2026 19:45:01
Unfortunately, it's the right owners that we are needing more than anything. Look at the debt we are in though. There's only one part of the world that money like that is going to come from and look how that's turned out for our noisy neighbours.

22 Oct 2026 19:53:55
I think that players who do not put the effort in need to be sold. No use to anybody. In addition, any player who criticises the manager publicly needs to be run out of town immediately. Who needs the enemy within? They have a real cheek - not performing themselves but criticising others.

No use. We need hungry young committed players who would run through a brick wall for the club, irrespective of who the manager is.

22 Oct 2026 17:33:09
I've stayed quiet for a long time. Now it's time to get a ew things off my chest.

1. Some on here say Carrick has no Plan B. My problem is he doesn't seem to have a Plan A either. His tactics are spot off, team selection is questionable at best. He shows no fire which is evident in the way his team plays. He complained after the game yesterday that the players weren't running, yet he didn't take them off for young hungry players. What message does that send.

2. He puts Harry and DeLigt together, two players who even at my age of 76 I can outrun. Then when they are trailing 3-0 the team still made more backward passes than forward, no sense of urgency.

3. There has got to be a better option on a pub league squad than Dalot.

4. Fabregas took United (Carrick) behind the woodshed and whopped him. I would go get Fab, and tell him to bring Nico Paz with him (the kid was awesome, better than anyone United currently has on the squad. Como were fun to watch, every player knew what to do and where to be in order to do it. Fab also knows what it takes to win in the premier league. I would take Fab over anyone mentioned as a possible replacement for Carrick.

5. One major problem for United is that what top notch manager would want to come with the way the club is being run. Changes everywhere need to happen but we all know it won't.

6. I'll continue to support my club but I can promise I'll watch. It's pure *****.

22 Oct 2026 17:52:36
It feels like Carrick is allowing the opposition dictate his tactics. Last season things were very simple. Deep defence, and give the ball to Bruno when going forward.

In pre-season it looked like he was moving towards a more possession based system. But this seemed to go out the window after the first match. Since then the system has become more and more conservative as Carrick's primary concern appears to be having as many people behind the ball as possible.

For the Leeds game we played a back 5 without a striker. Carrick claimed that this was so we could match their physicality in midfield. He lauded this as a turning point. Last night he played a back 4 with 4 central midfielders and 2 wingers. Again, this appeared to be an attempt to make sure we had bodies behind the ball. As Bruno said, all it did was give them time in possession and confidence that we were there for the taking.

I doubt that a relegation battling club would allow their tactics to be dictated by the opposition to this extent. Both Maguire and Bruno have said that we're not brave enough. These are the senior players. They can see a manager so terrified of losing that he's putting out teams incapable of playing football. Carrick is simply out of his depth and our season is drowning with him.

I actually think all of the top 6 would do a better job than Carrick, but none of them will be 'successful' with the current set up.

22 Oct 2026 16:20:46
I love that Ole is on it.

22 Oct 2026 16:59:15
If they go for Nagelsmann then imo they must remove Wilcox as well and let Nagelsmann work with Vivell again following on from their previous working relationship.

I can't see it being very harmonious with Nagelsmann and Vivell having a, I assume, trusting relationship but Wilcox trying to control everything.

But I'll maintain my view that until things change above the manager, anyone who comes in will struggle after the initial "bounce" and the cycle of the past 13 years will continue.

22 Oct 2026 17:09:24
Nagelsmann won't work. He was successful to a certain degree at leipzig and Hoffenheim, but didn't win anything. And then won some trophies at Bayern, which isn't especially difficult, but fell out with a few people there and players didn't seem to like him. And then failed at Germany.

Not sure why he gets linked with so many top jobs. Must be better options out there.

22 Oct 2026 10:20:40
According to reports this morning carrick has Sunday at home to Bournemouth to save his job. My question would be why? We've seen enough evidence now to suggest it's not working, players calling him out, tactics non existent, nothing defensively or in attack yet if we win Sunday all is ok again. This just smacks of the amateur way we are run, we could win Sunday against a team who plays tonight and is near the bottom of the league like us, but what will that tell us?? We've got Chelsea, Roma and villa all up next and all games we will lose on current form so 1 win in 13/14 is enough for our owners.

Any proper run club would have him and Wilcox gone but yet we will stumble on, reports of possible January signings now surfacing to try and quell the masses. It's all bs and if someone doesn't get a grip soon then next seasons Manchester derby could be in the championship!

22 Oct 2026 10:45:03
The "build on Leeds" comment was unbelievable to me. We have been so bad that the Leeds game is seen as something to build on. It was a horrible game that was slightly less horrible than previous games. Where is the ambition?

22 Oct 2026 10:45:25
Tim_99 - of course he's going to win on Sunday and paper over the cracks so he lives to fight another game. If they (the board) are going to do something then react and get it done now and stop wasting more time before the season is a complete write off!

22 Oct 2026 11:07:17
Wouldn't be so sure. Bournemouth has a good record against us lately.

22 Oct 2026 12:34:34
The only reason to remove him immediately is if we have the right man ready to step straight in.

We don't want to have another interim manager, every time we have it has ultimately ended badly for us. We should be learning from that mistake.

With it unlikely that we could have someone permanently in place by Sunday it makes no sense removing Carrick now unless something seismic happens. However, I would expect that the club will be putting out the feelers in earnest now for a replacement. In an ideal world they would probably want to wait until the next international break to bring in a new permanent manager who can get settled while players are on international duty and get his coaching team into place.

I doubt they will have that luxury. If things keep spiralling, they will probably have to move Carrick on and maybe have an interim for a 2-3 games before the international break. I expect that will be either Steve Holland or Darren Fletcher.

22 Oct 2026 15:18:57
Young manager needs to be in control and the players working for him. They clearly are not. So the club has to decide, are they going to remove players like bruno, Martinez, rashford etc and build again with carrick and a younger squad who know he is the man in charge.

What anout carrick tells you that he is good enough to do that?

So likely we are just waiting for patience to run out, maybe one more big embarrassing loss in a game we expect to win?

Just sack the DOF and start the process.

22 Oct 2026 13:14:55
I honestly think that Carrick is still in the job because it's the third consecutive managerial disaster driven by our new best in class directors.

ETH was given a one year extension, new coaches were appointed, and he was sacked a few months into the season.

Amorim was pushed for against the wishes of the director of football, forcing him to resign. They pressured Amorim to take over halfway through the decision despite his warnings that this would make it harder for him to succeed. They bought players specific to his system, only to demand that he change his system, before sacking him at Christmas.

They brought Carrick in under the strict condition that he was an interim, and that they would take the rest of the season to identify the right manager. Ignoring the mistakes made with Ole, they decided to give Carrick the permanent job. A transfer spend lower than newly promoted teams followed, and Carrick's start to the season has been painfully embarrassing.

Any competent club would admit their mistakes, get rid and try to salvage their season. United are resisting this because they're afraid that the axe won't stop with Carrick. Ratcliffe and Berrada are protecting their little minion Wilcox.

{Ed025's Note - i tend to agree Danny..
