Really liked what Wilcox has been saying recently about the club and transfers etc. Thought it was great what he said about Sesko too. Finally feels like the club are behaving and sounding like a a proper Football Club.
06 Nov 2025 15:05:56
Yes ports. Round pegs in round holes is becoming the norm in all areas of the club.
06 Nov 2025 15:40:06
Almost like we had to trust the process!

Noooooo Ed, you had to do this whilst we were on our winning run! šš.
{Ed001's Note - you drew.....}
06 Nov 2025 07:28:20
Yes. but I see there were no match reviews the few weeks prior Ed, whilst we won a few games in a row .

{Ed001's Note - my parents were staying, seems they are a pair of Jonahs as Liverpool were terrible while they were here. The moment they went home, Liverpool start winning again! Don't worry, the good news for United fans is they are due back for a month in February.}
06 Nov 2025 09:25:12
Haha fair enough, only fair if they stay with you for the rest of the year no? Must say that was a big win against Madrid, who were terrible. Think teams in the relegation zone would have given you more of a game!
{Ed001's Note - the lads on the Liverpool site are having a whip round to send them on a cruise for the rest of the season instead!
I am not sure they were so bad, I genuinely think we actually played to our potential for once and caught them by surprise. It was the first time that the players looked like they knew what they were doing and were high on confidence too. When the ref refused to give them anything for their dives, Madrid just had no idea what to do.
A team in the relegation zone would have made it more difficult though, you are right on that, as they would have sat in and just blocked up the defensive third. Madrid tried to outplay us and are still recovering from Ancelotti's time in charge, where they were given far too much freedom.}
06 Nov 2025 21:43:41
Ed I think having your back four with Robertson and Connor in helped enormously. Proper defenders with the physicality to attack too. Blunted Madrids attack and wad the springboard for your win. Gravenbach also is a big player for you. Round pegs round holes in a system the team knows well. Basic but common sense really that you should play better.

Seems like Anderson is the flavour of the month a midfield option for us. Have not watched him so much but whenever I have he has never struck me a being top class. A good player yes but not elite level. Maybe not a fair comparison but I would say Keane was a lot lot better.
Baleba wa the previous flavour of the month back end of last season but his form dropped off at the start of this season.
Apart from these two which really top top midfielders do you think we have a realistic chance of signing.
04 Nov 2025 23:25:42
I think Anderson is really top notch. I'd rate him a little ahead of even Wharton who I'd also be delighted if we got. He nailed his audition last weekend too unfortunately!
Baleba is going through a tough spell so it's hard to judge and looks like he needs more time to develop.
We were linked with Agoume in the summer but I'd imagine that Hjulmand is the likeliest alternative. He's a really good player but he's definitely not the athletic player that was described as being the priority.
04 Nov 2025 23:52:55
Baleba over anderson.
05 Nov 2025 00:21:34
I think Anderson is top class to be honest, Iād be delighted with him. He does everything Casemiro does at the moment for us but better imo.
05 Nov 2025 06:44:02
Id take both Anderson and Wharton
Anderson looks like he can run all day which we are massively lacking and Wharton is technically sound someone who can dictate play
We absolutely need 2 midfielders.
05 Nov 2025 07:41:17
I know we need more physicality in midfield but I want a smart player who can break up opposition attacks then initiate ours. A player who sets the tempo of a game.
05 Nov 2025 08:44:06
I tend to be a bit meh about most of the names that are bandied abiut, but every time I see Anderson I see real talent. He would make a huge difference.
05 Nov 2025 09:04:03
Salford7, so a lot like Anderson did to us last week?
05 Nov 2025 13:09:10
Angelo Stiller and Anderson for me.
05 Nov 2025 13:50:09
Anderson is very much a casemiro type player gets around the pitch in all the right places and has a good passing range.
Wharton is more of Bruno style playmaker still atlethic but not crazy.
In an ideal world you'd buy the 2 and play them side by side
Baleba is a decent option form seems to have dropped off a bit he's a proper powerhouse but lacks the ball playing more of a Kanye or a caicedo type I rate him but if I was spending 100 million he would be third choice for me .
Hijmlund is decent ball player don't think he would rubbish the physicality of the league and isn't that much better than ugarte.
We might have to sacrifice kobbie.
05 Nov 2025 18:27:29
So Bruno is going? He wonāt be second fiddle! Anderson and Wharton would be good. Premiership proven, young and extremely talented. Kobbie off then?
05 Nov 2025 22:30:17
Patrick ne t season we will hopefully have a lit note games to play. One in this Jan and one in next to replace casimero. If we qualify for cl I think bruno stays if not he will probably leave.
05 Nov 2025 22:32:36
To be honest when did our midfield dominate any top teams in recent years? Anderson is one of many midfielders who run rings round ours. Not saying he isn't a good player or that he won't be the answer to our problems but am just not sure about him being a really elite midfielder.
05 Nov 2025 23:44:29
Can't be worse than the last Anderson we had.
06 Nov 2025 03:36:54
First time I have watched Anderson and paid any attention to him. looked a good player, reminded me a little of Rodri. Same body type. Reads the game well and shows up in the right places.
Strong. Has a pass in him. Of course I have barely seen much of him at all, but the little I saw, if he was the chosen one by our scouts I wouldn't be disappointed from the little I've seen.
06 Nov 2025 12:07:33
A midfield pairing of Anderson and Wharton would be great IMO. Think they would complement each other. Wharton I think could be a bit of a Carrick type player and as others have said, Anderson gets about, breaks up play but can play himself. I also like Midfielders who can run with the ball past players which I think Anderson can do.
With the risk of sounding like a middle aged Englishman, a trio of English CM's in Mainoo, Anderson and Wharton to form the core of our CM would be brilliant and also all young lads so great for the future.
04 Nov 2025 20:53:00
Good thread below on casimero and his good form.
The real difficult the manager has is also a blessing for a different reason for the season imo and that is that we only have 1 game per week.
So with less injuries and a lesser requirement to rotate some players are getting very little game time.
Ordinarily if we had 2 games a week 18 to 20 players will be in the starting 11 over 30 times a season minimum. But that 20, if players stay fit And results are OK will become 14 or 15 so there is no doubt that its going to be difficult to keep them happy. Going out in the league cup compounded the problem.
It makes it hard for mainoo zirkzee heaven obi and academy players to get a decent look in. We've been on a decent run for the last 4 so its pretty much right to go same again next weekend its hard to put up a case for changes.
So the 11 that started plus mount maguire and dorgu are the main 14 he picks from if all are fit. i'd expect martinez to come into that to make it 15.
Casimero is benefiting as will bruno and deligt in particular.
In a 60 game season very few players start more than 40
In a 38 game season the top guys should be starting 30 plus, if available so it doesn't help the 2nd tier.
05 Nov 2025 04:24:28
Good post Shappy no deliberate mistakes either, I am impressed and I agree yes there are 14 main players for RA and for him to go same againā¦quite like the workings of how many games players play per season that donāt help 2nd tier.
05 Nov 2025 11:44:40
Maze. Maybe you should get some 'red tints' so you can see who's post you are trolling.

So its Sir David Beckham. A legend knighted.
04 Nov 2025 16:06:16
He certainly been sucking up enough for it thatās for sure!
04 Nov 2025 17:35:47
Bit sad really. WTF is a 'Sir' anyway. I'd be embarrassed to be involved with such elitist nonsense.
04 Nov 2025 18:43:41
Congrats to his PR team who have been working their socks off to make this happen for years.
05 Nov 2025 00:22:51
Hardly sad is it, knight of the realm, well deserved, well done David.
05 Nov 2025 04:26:38
The problem with it nowadays like everything else is itās been so diluted and being given out like confetti, gongs are being dished out all and sundry which is the sad bit about it all.
05 Nov 2025 07:26:59
You are a cheerful lot aren't you, an absolute icon of the club gets knighted and people can't wait to put the knives in.
Well done to David Beckham for achieving a life long goal.
05 Nov 2025 07:51:01
Yes, well done, Sir David. However, as alluded to above re dilution, being put on a par with the likes of Cur Sadiq Khan isn't a good look.
05 Nov 2025 12:42:41
I_am_djemba_djemba, maybe have a think about what being 'knighted' actually is.
Explain it to me and see if it doesn't sound preposterous and elitist.
05 Nov 2025 18:23:15
MancMan, it's a monarchy. What can you do?
Start a revolution, maybe š.
06 Nov 2025 16:09:00
Noucamp, what Becks could do is publically state he was offered a 'knighthood' but didn't accept because it's elitist, archaic claptrap with no place in a modern egalitarian society.
I'd have far more respect for that than 'Sir David'.
I mean I'd feel a right pillock if anyone call me 'Sir'
06 Nov 2025 20:12:29
MancMan, I actively encourage people to call me sir š.

Shappy, it's still very encouraging. we lost the head for 5 minutes, got it back and could've nicked it at the end.
I've been extremely encouraged. Could've been second and I was not expecting to say that after last season and this season's start.
Long may it continue, long may we continue to defy the odds and get better results.
03 Nov 2025 14:25:48
The biggest question for me is still midfield. Casemiro has been excellent during this run, but the team look fragile without him. The problem is that he struggles to last a full 90 minutes.
Itās a sorry state of affairs that there isnāt a single player in the squad capable of covering for him. Ugarte has been very underwhelming, and the manager doesnāt trust Manioo in that role. However, at some point during the season, Casemiro is going to get injured or burnt out. All the progress is in danger of collapsing when this happens.
03 Nov 2025 17:02:38
Iām really pleased with how things are going but will reflect properly after Spurs. It wasnāt good enough on Saturday but we came away with an away point, thereās certainly a positive in that.
Itās time to see if the good form is the norm or if itās blip. We had a couple of good results but we need to give it until after December to understand where we are at. Amorim will have had more than enough time and the new players/ regime should be settled.
03 Nov 2025 17:19:19
Lots of positives last few matches Saturday showed our weaknesses that we all knew are still there.
Fullbacks lack quality that goes for amad too in the defensive sense.
Midifield not quite where it needs to be. Anderson would be a welcome addition
We lack a forward to really come on and change the game I feel zirkzee will be gone in January.
03 Nov 2025 18:02:20
Throwing Zirkzee and Mainoo in might very well have changed the outcome.
When we play against 2 quality CBs, with a very well drilled side around them, we struggle to penetrate. Throwing in Mainoo and Zirkzee I have noticed makes ordinarily organised defences double up on Zirkzee and leave gaps elsewhere.
They are, as a pair, I think quite unpredictable, so in Amorim's defence, you could argue they may not have changed the game, but for me it should have been worth a shot, Cunha, Mbeumo and Sesko offered very little.
04 Nov 2025 10:38:45
Will casemiro get burnt out with 1 game a week?
04 Nov 2025 11:41:10
Gnev! You'd imagine he won't. The lack of fixtures is ideal for our older players most notably Cas. And I believe we are seeing the benefits.
He has got himself into the best shape has been in since coming to this club, we just need to manager his minutes correctly. He's a big player for us this year given our lack of quality at CM and RAs reluctance to play Kobbie there.
04 Nov 2025 13:33:24
I think itās a tough ask for a player of his age, and the damage done to his body over the years, to play a full season in a two man midfield.
Credit where itās due. He clearly put in the work to get in the best condition during the summer. But I canāt see him maintaining this level for a full season. Even with one game a week. What youād want is to be able to rest him for some games. But the moment heās off the pitch, we look a shambles.
I think that heāll have to be rested over the Christmas schedule, and Iāve lost all confidence in Ugarte.
04 Nov 2025 16:10:04
Always said Cass is our best midfielder by a country mile, he will last the season with a game a week thatās not the problem because he will miss games because Red cards he picks up, then thatās a major catastrophe with what we have available for midfield as backup⦠hopefully Ugarte and Mainoo can be sold in January pointless keeping either because clearly RA donāt rate either of them.
04 Nov 2025 17:58:50
Ugavrte has been the biggest disappointment for me, but heās not good enough to play in a 2 man midfield.
04 Nov 2025 22:47:04
Agree about Ugarte playing in a two man midfield. My worry is that teams usually have three in midfield and that they overload us there. It's one reason why Cas gets so many yellow/ red cards. As fit as he has got he is not so young and his stamina is still suspect and when faced with three in midfield it gets too much for him.
