Slot's Excuses Are An Embarrassment To Liverpool FC

{Ed's Note - LFC-S MANGO has posted a new article entitled, Slot's Excuses Are An Embarrassment To Liverpool FC

31 Oct 2025 10:24:06
Surely not not letting slot walk alone mango.

31 Oct 2025 17:07:13
Mango

One thing missing in your assessment. Imagine the players who won the league in summer, bet they felt not good enough because suddenly it wasn’t a tweak here or there, it was £400m worth of shiny new superstar players. Suspect existing players may be thinking, Slot just thinks I am here to run around for the “important” superstar” players, so, go on you are the £120m player, win the game you don’t need me, I won’t be playing next week. It’s the danger of doing such a big window.

29 Oct 2025 22:55:56
Also if arsenal don't do it this year i'm done hoping they do, this is their opportunity if not now iv no hope for them, its either city or the gooners going to do it i hope its not city please God.

29 Oct 2025 23:52:18
United are winning it this year .

30 Oct 2025 07:15:44
Too early to say, let’s see who is in the mix comes Christmas, then it’s all about consistency.

30 Oct 2025 12:34:45
They're the best team but my god they are hard work to watch. And their gamesmanship is also a pain to witness.

30 Oct 2025 15:21:07
I like their set plays but not the antics. Great defence very well drilled bit like a George Graham side.

30 Oct 2025 15:28:52
Just a bit too dull for me ken. They're clearly a very good team but I really don't enjoy their games.

30 Oct 2025 15:29:48
I’m sticking with my pre-season prediction. We will win the league this year.

30 Oct 2025 21:38:37
Oliver Holt made a good point, today. For years we all laughed at Arsenal for being all pretty football and no steel. Now, they're getting slagged off for fixing that and bringing some steel into their team ?.

30 Oct 2025 21:48:13
I admire it. Their defence is fantastic. I don't like the antics but I respect what they are doing. They don't have much flare but there is more than one way to win. .

29 Oct 2025 22:50:36
Im not one for kicking clubs when they are down, but i hope liverpool fans remember that success is not guaranteed. As we know with all our success over the years and liverpool of course, its great to be at the top again but its not nice been kicked when u are down.

30 Oct 2025 00:26:57
It's all part of banter for me. We gave it to you lot when you were down and it's our turn to be on the receiving end for now. As long as it doesn't turn nasty or malicious ;)

On the bright side for us though, even though we are in poor form at the moment, I still think we have a solid group of players who can perform much better than what they're currently showing now. So I feel it is an issue that can be easily turned around for us.

30 Oct 2025 07:18:48
Liverpool always bought players that fitted Klopp’s system, now they seem to have bought a lot of big name places and are trying to find a system that suits them.

30 Oct 2025 09:11:07
Feels that way Grim. Kind of believed their own hype a bit and moved away from their excellent scouting system they had in place, and personally feel they needed to strengthen at the back and midfield over buying Wirtz.

That being said who are we to talk. Until this season (Bruno excepted), we’ve recruited incorrectly for a decade.

30 Oct 2025 09:44:05
Ihavetime you were very happy to kick Amorim when he was down so let's not forget that and he is our manager. You wanted him fired a few weeks ago.
Let's remember success is not guaranteed it has to be earned and it it will take a couple of years to get a decent foundation to build from.
Eth left behind a broken squad full of broken players. Confidence at an all time low so it was never going to be an easy bounce back and we are still not there at all.
Some players have done well since getting out of united that's happened imo not because they are away from Amorim like the press pundits and sensationalists would have you believe but because they escaped the toxicity at the club.

Again imo players like rashford and sancho and latterly garnacho were responsible for creating some of the toxic culture but rasmus and a couple of others fell victim to it.
Let's hope we can keep improving but I doubt it will be plain sailing for a bit yet.

30 Oct 2025 11:19:57
I think Liverpool are in a weird position. Last season, Slot did well when operating within the limitations of the squad he inherited. He worked with what he had. For instance, having Szoboszlai cover the right flank defensively to compensate for Salah and Trent’s weaknesses.

I’m surprised with some of the signings this summer. Frimpong particularly sticks out. He’s not a Trent replacement, or a Salah successor. Would be perfect for us.

Wirtz, I get. He’s a phenomenal talent, but I think he could have been given an easier start by playing out wide. Very hard for a young player from a different league to be expected to be the creative fulcrum at a new club, and hit the ground running.

Kirkez is struggling with the pressure of playing for a bigger club. He was excellent last season, but needs to calm down and focus on the basics. Doesn’t help that the rest of the defensive is shaky too.

I feel sorry for Ekitike. It felt like Liverpool signed him as an FU to Newcastle. He stared really well, only for Liverpool to break the transfer record for Isak. I think he’s a quality player, and Slot needs to find a way to get him into the first eleven.

Isak is the one that I think fecked their momentum. He’s one of the best strikers in the world, when fit. I get why they wanted him. But I think they could have taken a more pragmatic approach with Newcastle. Perhaps, offering to step away from Ekitike as an olive branch. In the end, Liverpool had encouraged Isak to agitate for a move and had to sign him in the end. But this cost them by limiting their ability to bring in quality defensive replacements.

All in all I think Liverpool are stuck between a rebuild (and all the teething problems that comes with) and the fact that they’re the champions. Both Salah and VVD have seen a big drop off in form. Is the it easing off after getting their contracts, or age catching up with them? This has been compounded by the loss of form and fitness in midfield. It often feels like the pragmatic winning approach of last season is battling against the new team that Slot wants to build. In some ways, winning last season complicated things. Because if they finished 3rd or 4th fans would be far more patient with the rebuild. Although I’m not sure if some of their new signings would have come if they hadn’t won.

30 Oct 2025 18:10:57
I also think Slot might look like a better manager than he is. He had a blueprint from Klopp with nearly the exact same squad so they had only one way to play. Now he’s having to actually do some managing and he’s sinking. Long may he sink.

31 Oct 2025 10:25:45
One thing to consider is how poor the league was last season.

Arsenal have stepped up and have become the team to beat. City have improved from last season. Spurs are playing better this season.
It is safe to say that the league is by far more competitive this year.

Ironically Liverpool had a nice long summer to recharge their batteries, but have since suffered injuries and lost Trent, who was more key to them than they perhaps knew or were willing to admit.

I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see Liverpool back to their winning ways soon.

29 Oct 2025 20:14:43
Having 2 workhorses in Cunha and Mbuemo has started to bear fruit and long may it last. These players work ethos has allowed Cas to hold himself back and not have to cover as much ground which he is reaping the rewards also. Cas is 33 now and in decline but their are a few exceptions Scholes, Keane and a few more who lost a yard of pace but gained a lot of experience of how to manage their conditioning during games to last the 90mins.

On another topic a 33 yrs old Salah has went from king to villian and i see many comparisons to Rashford except Salah has old age to argue with. Maybe its the GWCC ( Greedy wingers contract curse ) that Rashford got when he signed and become turd.

Anyway GGMU hopefully RA starts making correct subs ONLY WHEN NEEDED. and we enjoy a winning streak.

29 Oct 2025 20:11:07
Congratulations to the GW8 winner of the FOOTBALL RUMOURS FPL league:

Finally managed to watch the highlights of the Brighton match and it bore no resemblance to the MBM commentary I was following on match day! MBM made it out like we were under a huge amount of pressure but I think Brighton were lucky not to be on the receiving end of a 4-0 result.

Lammens has been a real upgrade and looks like a proper keeper finally but he'd fancy his chances keeping the first goal out 8/ 10 times.
The second goal was just piss poor defending from Zirkzee.
Mbeuemo is some player though. That last goal was top class!

29 Oct 2025 18:13:09
Lammans (pronounced Lommens) is no lemon. A lot of dip on Danny's free kick, but, yes, maybe he would expect himself to do better.

Brighton played some nice football but made very few if any really good chances whereas United went close on at least 3 occasions. Sesko should have done better with his chance. Bruno was unlucky when he burst through. Could have gone anywhere.

It was a tense ending. The subs did not do well. We were cruising until Dorgu gave the ball away and then nearly got himself sent off. Zirkzee, who IMO is not good enough to succeed in the EPL, is also out of practice, probably demoralized, and failed miserably to do his job at the near post. He's another of the terrible purchases who will probably look good in another league, but in any event is nowhere near as good as McTominay. We all agree - and I'm sure the club does too - that the next stage is to rebuild the midfield. Cas might get another season, Bruno's also getting on, Ugarte has done nothing to convince anyone that he's good enough to dominate at DM in the EPL.

I liked the fact that at the time when Dorgu did make his almost disastrously costly error, we were still attacking rather than playing the game out. On the balance of play it should have been a far easier win but somehow United we always tend to make things more exciting/ stressful than the game should dictate.

28 Oct 2025 17:53:00
Would anyone disagree that the player of the season for us so far is Brian Mbuemo? There really isn't any aspect of his game that's a weakness. Great goalscorer, excellent crosser, extremely hard working, oozing positivity and what about that beard? He's a true difference maker. Hopefully we won't miss him too much while he's at AFCON.

28 Oct 2025 18:03:56
I tubing we will miss him plenty if he goes. Have Cameroon qualified yet? I've read a very convoluted qualifying journey.
Its hard to say who our best player has been recently. Sure goals win games and attackers usually get most of the plaudits but the keeper delight and my least fav player Shaw have been very good in the last few games also.

29 Oct 2025 03:32:56
De Ligt, Shaw, Cas, Bruno have all been good.

Mount, Mbeumo, Cunha, Amad all starting to come good.

29 Oct 2025 17:47:04
Mbuemo has been such a breath of fresh air but Lammens for me.
Immediately raised the team and confidence.

29 Oct 2025 22:20:45
Cunha, he’ll of a player. Does the dirty work and I loved his performance against Liverpool.
Sesko has been steady and looks to be forming a good understanding with Cunha and Mbuemo. Overall, the summer signings along with De Ligt and Casemiro have been the outstanding performers in the last few games.

28 Oct 2025 13:28:25
Shashank fair play on your post below.
Its not that you were wrong it was your opinion at the time. As none of us are educated on the finer points of managing a professional football team at this level we are mostly guessing or reacting to the here and now emotionally.
Not everybody is a strategic thinker or looks at the bigger picture.
Most football fans are reacting on emotions and feelings and can't see past the nose on their own face.
Some here are more in out in out than the hokey kokey.
This is a project and we are a long way from the finished article (if there is such a thing) .
There will be plenty more ups and definitely more downs before the season is out.
But we are on the right track with the right leader.
The place has been toxic from top to bottom for a long time. The business has been undergoing a full restructure and many jobs needed to be cut on top of a poor performing team the noise was unbearable.
I think you said before you go to the games regularly so you should be able to feel the shift in mood better than some of us.
Some of your posts recently were made through obvious frustration and that's understandable.
Strategic thinking and upheaval takes time to reward.
Some of our less mature posters are like the baby bull with the daddy bull looking at a herd of cows in the next field.

The baby bull wants to Charge down and get stuck in and runs out of steam halfway through the herd. But the daddy bull walks down slowly thinking strategically biding his time so he can service the whole herd.
Daddy bull is strategic, and understands that taking time and doing things right will deliver better results.
Lots of fans are like the baby bull just interested in the here and now. Sometimes the penny drops with maturity, knowledge and experience that means there are more important things than the here and now and you shouldn't always react on emotions.
When your a fan its sometimes hard to not react negatively I see Liverpool fans at it now.
I hope and I believe you are right and that we have a keeper in RA.
If i was in a bunker with him staying my leader and he asked me to go over the brow of the hill, I wouldn't be wondering if I should i'd be straight over. If eth had asked me i'd be looking at everyone else asking if they trust his judgement as I didn't.
RA is a leader of men no doubt about that imo.
The most idiotic comment I've read on here from a so called fan was a call to hate the club but support the team. Says all you need to know about the moral fibre of that over emotional person.

28 Oct 2025 14:48:55
Great post Ken. Shappyesque :P
Got you point in one paragraph.

28 Oct 2025 16:00:26
The rest was just a load of bull S3x ?

I am firmly in the give RA more time club. I don't count last season. So everyone looking at his win loss etc is just penalising him for a mess he didn't creat. In fact he is the one who has come in and weeded out the ones who need to go and we now feel like he started fresh this season.

Still deficiencies in the squad. Still issues with adoption and results from his new playing style. But now it feels like he should be judged by his results. Take away last season and let him stand or fall from July onwards. So far it is okay and I can see the squad progress, if not the long term vision for this squad.

28 Oct 2025 16:35:14
Db he didn't want the job in oct but he was sort of forced into it i guess.
Walked into the middle of a sh##storm.
But I'm sort of glad he did because it helped weed out some of the eejits in the squad.
Even now he is still walking a tightrope.
We could lose a couple and fall back quite easily. If that happens we can expect a return of all our missing posters and trolls who seem to have less to say after a few wins. Eric kurtis and shashank being the exceptions.
But the work ethic is better from the team so even with some square pegs in round holes we should do enough to improve.

The last time united were within 6 points of the lead after 9 games was when fergie was in charge. So he is doing something right.
2 tough away games in the next 2 I don't know if we will win lose or draw them. i'm hoping for a minimum of 4 points from those next 2 games if we get that then we can all relax as i'd say relegation would be out of the question. ?.

28 Oct 2025 16:38:49
LOL. condescending or what! Rather eloquent piece of writing I wonder why that is, none of the deliberate mistakes within it either to throw of the scent but of course some of us know….

But to the football and all those that were calling for sell Bruno and replace with Baleba, hope you watched the game, how poor is Baleba.100 mil my A***
But runs about a lot Fred done that….

28 Oct 2025 17:20:43
Some positive results and amorim finally getting some momentum.
I was one of the people who more so questioned the players than the style of play luke shaw in the last 2 games has stood into midfield more.

I was critical if him in pre season game against Everton and the arsenal game aswell for pretty much taking ugarte and casemiro out of position back to him.

28 Oct 2025 17:35:25
John i think we have all been critical at one point or another.
No doubt its been slower than we all wanted but the size of the task warrants more tolerance and support.
I think our 4 new signings have only played 3 games together and the new front 3 have started together on 3 occasions.
Time on the training ground is helping and the preparation time we have week to week is slowlypaying divefends.

There will be a few more out results I've no doubt about that.
It going to be some scrap for the European places i'd expect Liverpool to bounce back soon enough with the quality they have to maybe push for a cl place. But at least we are still in the mix at this stage and not hopeless.

28 Oct 2025 22:28:25
I think most of us wanted RA to be given time to succeed. I also think it's fair to say that most of us were really disappointed and had doubts about him after a decent pre season and some exciting signings when we played so poorly after the Arsenal game up until the last three matches.

Now the thing is not get carried away by those last three wins.

We should be beating Sunderland but it was no walk in the park. The Liverpool win was great for bragging rights but Brentford showed them up as a struggling team. We didn't beat the Liverpool team of last year. Our win against Brighton was welcome (especially the number of goals we scored) but when they turned up in the second half we were far from comfortable defending.

Our midfield is still lightweight and we still concede too many chances and goals. I am happy that we are improving but will be happier still if and when we start keeping clean sheets too.

Confidence is a mercurial thing. It can disappear even quicker than it arrives and is a fragile thing. Let's hope that we keep on winning because once the players really are confident and if they can win six or seven on the bounce then they will surely show the full range of talent that they have and other teams will fear them. It will also give RA the ability to keep on coaching how we wants without the inhibiting pressure of constant criticism that follows defeats.

30 Oct 2025 07:01:55
I am at all the games at home and go to some of the away fixtures. mood was he is gone a few weeks ago and all my mates where done with him but something has changed. Went to the scouse away fixture thinking the worst and the abuse we get when we play them.

I hope we get a couple in in Jan on loan that gets us to the summer. It just did not sit right with me sitting in the bottom half and losing games the way we did we have a better squad than that. He has turned it around and hope we start winning a lot more and losing some is part of the game.

I for one never slag our players and they are a lot better than most give them credit except sancho. no heart, no pride no desire.

30 Oct 2025 07:30:32
We needed more goals and I think we are amongst the top scores in the league now, the difference is we’re have also conceded 14 goals and only have one clean sheet.

If we can tighten up at the back and stop making silly mistakes, then it should be a decent season.

Can Hearts End The Old Firm Dominance?

28 Oct 2025 07:39:03
{Ed's Note - Thestigno1 has posted a new article entitled, Can Hearts End The Old Firm Dominance?

27 Oct 2025 15:28:21
A lot more work and tracking back in our last 2 games, even the front players especially Cunha and Mbeumo which is helping to reduce the space in midfield when we don't have the ball. You really need all players working and understanding where to be in and out of possession for RAs system to work.

27 Oct 2025 17:30:03
I think you need all players working and understanding where to be in and out of possession for any system to be successful.
Maybe the players are working harder, more focused, listening, have more intensity, being more aggressive and fighting for positions more because Ratcliffe has given more time to RA?
Lessens the complacency of players just waiting for a manager/ coach change and quietens down the blood thirsty media and pundits.

27 Oct 2025 19:57:27
Spot on supasub. That's exactly what was different this time, no easy way out and the disgruntled players silenced and told perform during the African Nations.

Once again they struggled when handed a chance and nearly blew the game. They either step up or they're done at United but they're exposed as being unable or unwilling to stick to the plan.

28 Oct 2025 11:49:10
Ratcliff backing Ruben so strongly has set a precedent I think we did kinda all laugh and say what was he doing but on reflection it's a positive.
Many players have for united for so long downed tools knowing that the manager will be gone before them not anymore I think rasmus going was a sign too that nobodys safe.

28 Oct 2025 12:35:19
Agreed mate. Perform or be gone and show the right attitude as well. No matter how good you are you're expected to work for the team.

28 Oct 2025 16:43:00
What else was SJR going to say, but more fool you if you think for 1 minute he meant it, if things had not started to turn he would be gone if things take a bad turn for worse again he will be gone, SJR saying that means absolutely nothing, results are what keeps him here. end off hopefully they continue but don’t for 1 minute think SJR was not talking with fork tongue

Mainoo very poor Baleba is also very poor and many on here wanted them as our two midfielders! LOL.

29 Oct 2025 16:52:57
It does mean something ~Maze~ Notimesoon. Too often at this club the players have been given an easy run of it by blaming and changing the manager. However I do think it's less likely in general with this group. Even in bad games I think the character of the players has been good.

We have recruited so well both last summer and this. Not every player will be a hit but profiling well makes such a difference. De Ligt, Mazraoui, Yoro, Cunha, Mbeumo, Lammens, Sesko. We do need a couple more starter level players but the quality and resiliency of those we have is great.

I'll also say that for those that were criticising others that spoke about the underlying metrics being impressive and pleading for patience because those are better predictors of long term results than a handful of results, I do hope this upturn demonstrates the arguments made. We'll probably have a poor run of results again but as long as the general trends are good RA deserves our backing.

30 Oct 2025 07:38:02
Winning against the Brighton’s of this world will define our season, this is where we have struggled.

Forest, Spurs, Everton, Palace, West Ham, Wolves, Bournemouth, Villa, Newcastle and then back to Wolves are our fixtures till Christmas.

Most of these teams have not had great starts and on paper we should beat them, but as someone sensibly said once, football is played on grass not paper, but these are all winnable games.
