Any update on Mbeumo? Feels like this one is slipping away, especially from the Frank/ Spurs change. Hopefully jut more patience required :D.

News out now that Mbuemo is interested in moving to spurs instead. Offering champions league football and his old boss.
Looks likely we may need to go to plan b, whatever that is. Not seen many links with similar players.

All negotiating tactics: Brentford hustling United for more money.
0
13 Jun 2025 14:10:41
Fingers crossed - I was pretty excited by the prospect of Mbeumo in this team.
Semenyo seems to be linked a fair bit too.
0
13 Jun 2025 14:43:09
I don’t think it’s hustling. I suspect that we were offering him higher wages, and that’s why he was interested in coming here. But with Frank at Spurs, and Son likely off to Saudi, Spurs can offer him something similar. With the player open to both offers, Brentford are obviously going to want a bidding war.
When Mbeumo said we were his preferred destination, it was obvious that money was the deciding factor.
1
13 Jun 2025 16:17:26
Semenyo has been mentioned in the past. But it would take huge amounts of money to get him out of Bournemouth apparently. Far more than Mbeumo.
It could be tactics from the agent or club, hope he still joins but not if it means paying way over the odds in transfer fee or wages.
1
13 Jun 2025 16:37:08
If (a big if IMO) Mbuemo goes to Spurs, then we should 100% get Bruno to play the R10 role with Amad overlapping him as RWB and spend the £60m on a box-to-box midfielder instead.

13 Jun 2025 16:37:29
If a player doesn't want to come so be it. If wages are the players primary concern then I don't want that player at Utd.
I get that in this case the player may prefer to play with a coach he knows in the champions league and stay settled in London. All valid concerns.
Just let's hope it's sorted soon.
5
13 Jun 2025 17:28:36
Let’s wait and see. I hope he signs, but if he’d rather play for Spurs, maybe it’s for the best we move on to other targets.
It’ll be a little disappointing if it doesn’t happen, though. In the space of a few days we’ll have gone from Cunha, Gyokores, and Mbuemo to just Cunha. I quite liked the idea of having a front three that could bang in 100 goals a season.
0
13 Jun 2025 17:35:09
We all know we will start the season with Cunha, Amad and Rasmus up top. And then wonder why we can’t score goals. LOL
I hope they can get the signings in early, but with United they often leave it until later in the window.
0
13 Jun 2025 21:32:29
Hopefully we’re not going to be handicapped by not being able to get players out the door but I assume that’s the holdup.

13 Jun 2025 23:08:14
He'll be at united soon enough, most of it is desperate paper talk. levy ain't signing a player over 60m on 200k plus a week. He rejected arsenal and made it clear he like cunha wants utd.

13 Jun 2025 12:55:23
Spurs back in for mbeumo again, according to SSN he's more interested now frank has moved there. Wouldn't be surprised if this happened tbf.
1
13 Jun 2025 13:52:07
If he's more interested in spurs let him go there. Spent too many seasons buying players that want to go somewhere else but money talks.

The other day i saw that Munro, a youth centre half who impressed the one time I saw him, had signed his first pro deal. Add to that yesterday, United signed Harley Emsden-James, 16, from Southamptons academy.
We will pay Southampton a £1million compensation fee with a 20 per cent sell-on clause.
Emsden-James is a centre-back said to have physical skills with technical ability on the ball, he could potentially develop into an all-round centre-back with leadership skills.
2
13 Jun 2025 07:56:31
Great to see us building from within. Personally think quite a few from the youth setup will get opportunity this season.
1
13 Jun 2025 09:20:19
Despite all the rubbish that has been going on at the club at senior football level, we certainly seem to be doing well in the youth area. If we can get one youth player regularly in the squad each year and give out a few debuts, we are doing well as a club and I do think it's important to keep the tradition and record of over 4000 games with a youth product in the first team match squad. Sadly they won't all make it at United, but if we can help them get good solid careers in the game then the academy is doing it's job.
I'd be delighted if in 5 years time we had a starting 11 with Heaven, Kukonki, and Emsden-James as defensive options alongside Yoro in the squad, Mantato, Lacey, Ibragimov, Martins in the squad too. Unheard of now but that would be brilliant.

Out of interest, are United linked with Watkins at all?
0
12 Jun 2025 06:58:20
I don’t know but we have been linked to him for a while and Villa are under PSR pressure.
It doesn’t look like Barcelona want Rashford so perhaps the deal to be done with Villa for Watkins
Watkins seems more likely than Gyokeres.
1
12 Jun 2025 08:22:52
Whilst I am sure that Emery would like to keep Rashford the fact they do not have Champions League and have a PSR issue that his wages will not fit into I do not see this one happening.
Similarly with Barcalona I think Flick likes Rashford but their financial situation is not great. At best this would be an loan with a decent loan fee with option to buy. If we could sort a fee out for sale this is probably the one club Rashford may take a decent salary reduction to go too.
This could end up being a Lukaku situation at Chelsea where we loan him with decent loan fee and wages covered for a couple of years and then sell for far reduced fee!
0
12 Jun 2025 12:59:56
Maybe we should have thrown the Villa game to facilitate his sale😁.
2
12 Jun 2025 13:07:33
He is a decent player, better than what we have, but is he good enough to take us to the top table?
1
12 Jun 2025 13:30:53
Or he could get his head down, work hard, and play for Manchester United!
0
12 Jun 2025 16:22:48
He will be 30 by the time next season finishes. Good player but not what's needed. United need to avoid players that are looking for their last big contract.
8
11 Jun 2025 15:51:36
The Sporting club president has come out and said " I can guarantee that Victor Gyokeres will not leave for 60m euros plus 10m euros because I never promised that".
He reckons he only said they would not demand the full 100m euros release clause.
Think any possible deal for him will be long and complicated, at best.
5
11 Jun 2025 18:20:21
sporting seem like a temperamental bunch, weren't long ago their fans were storming the training ground attacking the players.
Probably better off moving elsewhere like Osihmen or Mateta if we want a cheaper option.
Just seen Zirkzee enjoying himself on holiday, seems like the guy who will turn up to pre season two stone overweight, so either way we need a number 9 asap.
2
11 Jun 2025 23:16:03
Doubt osimhen would be cheaper. Demanding huge wages and after the season he's had I think napoli would still demand north of 50-60 million.
0
12 Jun 2025 08:17:34
Osimhen would be worth a punt at £50-60m. I’d put him in the same bracket as Isak.
3
11 Jun 2025 15:51:27
Things seems to be getting a little heated with Gyokeres. Reports that sporting are denying any agreement to let him leave for a lower fee. And also reports that the player is refusing to play for them again and won't return for preseason.
Interesting. Not sure I like it when a player threatens going on strike.
Have to wait and see what happens next.
3
11 Jun 2025 16:55:44
A 'gentleman's agreement' always seems silly, especially in a situation involving tens of millions of £. They're going to accept less just to be nice? What's the point in a release clause if there's a sidenote saying you might be allowed to go for less? I suspect the agent has realised he's not going to get as much out of it as he first thought.
1
11 Jun 2025 17:35:03
I think Gyokeres will end up staying at Sporting.
The club, player and agent are likely to price him out of a move.
Any move is likely to be the last big move for the player, so he and his agent will likely want to milk every penny from it. Add that to the higher transfer fee Sporting now want, it could all mean the deal will be too expensive for the few clubs that are interested.
I read that United have a list of targets for striker, wonder who else is on the list?
0
11 Jun 2025 18:50:42
He maybe had the agreement verbally which both sides were happy with, so he worked his socks off and had a great season to try and get the best move possible. Now he turned into one of the best strikers in Europe last season, they have gone back on the agreement and now want more as they think he’s worth more.
0
11 Jun 2025 19:34:38
Is he really one of the best strikers in Europe! Yes he doing great there but is Portuguese league a measuring stick for best in EU….
I don’t see a queue knocking the door down for him, no Barca, no Madrid, no Bayern, No PSG, No City even Arsenal seemed to have backed away.
1
11 Jun 2025 20:46:02
Is he the best? No. Is he one of the best? Yes.
1
11 Jun 2025 22:12:00
Spenno, players get sold for less than their release fee all the time. In Spain and Portugal having a release clause is a legal requirement for all footballers contracts. To try and get around that clubs often have insanely high release clauses in place knowing that no one would ever pay that much.
It's not uncommon for clubs to agree with players and agents that they would sell for a set fee in some kind of gentlemen's agreement, which of course is not legally binding.
On one hand I understand the perspective of the Sporting chairman, if he's agreed to sell him for a certain fee, only for him to do very well and suddenly that fee looks very reasonable, possibly below market value. He won't want to sell a player that will be almost impossible not replace for a below market value price.
On the other hand refusing to do so is not a smart move if he wants to continue running the club without issues. If he's seen as a man who does not keep to his word then he'll find himself in a difficult position when trying to sign new players or negotiate new contracts for existing players. Why would they believe anything he said.
It all seems very strange and a uncomfortable situation. Clubs generally have a rough idea about how much a player will likely cost in terms of fees, agents fees and wages before they start making serious moves and start speaking directly to the club.
The fact United have had direct meetings with Sporting suggests that they were under the impression that they would accept a figure that they are comfortable with paying.
If that isn't the case then either they've been lied to by the players agent or Sporting are moving the goalposts. Looking at the way the player has reacted it seems more like the latter than the former.
I wonder why that is. Could it be that they believe they initially undervalued the player? Or have they found out that their potential replacements are more expensive than they thought? Or could it be that they have been annoyed when dealing with Manchester United, either by the way the club have negotiated or by the fact that the club seems to have plenty of money to spend on Cunha and Mbeumo, but have plead poverty to Sporting?
For some reason the Lisbon club seen to have moved the goalposts, and it will take some savvy negotiating by United and some backpedaling from Sporting to resolve this situation and get a deal in place, which looks like the best case scenario for both the clubs and the player right now.

He did very well in the very physical end to end english championship. Which in theory would point to a high chance of being able to hack it in the EPL.
However so did mitrovic but he was never able to replicate his form in the championship when in the PL. So I get the doubt in some fans minds.
3
12 Jun 2025 08:52:19
I know Shappy lol. I was referring more to the notion of a 'gentleman's agreement' in anything.

09 Jun 2025 08:08:38
Reported on Sky Sports.
"Borussia Dortmund have asked to be kept up to date with developments on Jadon Sancho’s future. "
Fingers crossed.
5
09 Jun 2025 09:42:09
I don't get this, the development is he's available for transfer. If they want him, put a bid in!
3
{Ed077's Note - probably need the move for Gittens to Chelsea get over the line first before they can spend on Sancho.
7
09 Jun 2025 09:48:52
If Sancho ain’t dropping his wages demands for Chelsea, I don’t see much hope with Dortmund. Their highest paid player is on about £175k a week. Sancho doesn’t get off the XBox for less than £300k a week, allegedly.
9
{Ed077's Note - what's the tax situation in Germany? 🤔
3
09 Jun 2025 16:51:20
We're on the hook for his salary and his amortization. ideally he's sold and off our books but that is likely to be impossible. United will be looking for the best loan deal they can muster. If they can cover half of the total cost fr next year they will probably take it.
0
09 Jun 2025 17:26:50
Re cost, I think the Muppetiers suggested that any extra due to Sancho in wages would be accounted for in the transfer fee received (ie one year left on his contract: £15 million (- wages new club) woukd be covered by his fee. So receive 20m say, minus 15 m wages, leaves 5m profit)
The main bonus for United’s accounts would be to get rid of Sancho and his wages.
4
09 Jun 2025 17:32:41
45% unfortunately!
1
10 Jun 2025 05:10:55
He has cost us £200million with his fees and wages and only played 87 games.
Is he our most expensive mistake?
4
10 Jun 2025 07:10:12
Did he grim? 👀.
0
10 Jun 2025 18:48:11
Can link back up with Bellingham at Dortmund.
0
12 Jun 2025 16:46:01
Well we've already made 5m back from Sancho when Chelsea chose to pay us not to sign him.
0
08 Jun 2025 21:22:16
One for the Ed's.
How serious is the interest in Donnarumma? Saw something a while back and thought unrealistic, but news seems to be resurfacing.
0
{Ed001's Note - I am not aware of any serious interest in him from United right now. Seems to be more about him looking for a new contract.}
4
08 Jun 2025 21:56:11
Seriously, why on earth would he?
2
08 Jun 2025 22:07:01
Thanks Ed.
I thought the same Spenno when he went to PSG, but he went there too.
1
09 Jun 2025 07:25:00
More about a new contract one would think, than any ulterior motive on coming to United, seriously what can we offer him, be a few in the queue that would look a lot more favourable then him choosing us….
0
09 Jun 2025 09:43:02
We can offer him Manchester United.
5
{Ed077's Note - 🤣🤣🤣 funny
4
09 Jun 2025 16:03:38
Am not sure he would be as good here as in Europe. He does not command his box well especially given his size. Top shot stopper and good at penalties but. M.
1
09 Jun 2025 17:33:53
That’s what I mean Ed77…. The red tints are getting stronger on many on here… they live in a far gone decade!
1
{Ed077's Note - "We are AC Milan" didn't work on him despite him being a Milan academy boy
3
09 Jun 2025 20:45:12
No red tints, it is merely a fact helmet. You really do live up to your new name every time you reply to anything I write.
2
10 Jun 2025 06:45:03
Sorry Dimbo. oopppps typo I mean Jimbo, I did not realise it’s only your opinions that are factual on here!
2
10 Jun 2025 08:46:41
Good keeper, but he won't be leaving PSG, the reigning UCL winners for us anytime soon. Just a classic case of a player wanting/ needing to renew his contract so suddenly the Manchester United rumours start getting thrown around.
4
08 Jun 2025 12:38:14
Rumours around that Spurs might hijack the deal for Mbeumo now that it looks like Thomas Frank will be heading there.
Could be the papers making it up as usual.
0
08 Jun 2025 13:13:16
I would take a view that if he prefers to play for Spurs than in the famous Red of United, with our history, then he can go to Spurs. Let’s see what he wants to do.
10
08 Jun 2025 13:58:50
He’s turned down Arsenal and Newcastle to choose us; can’t see him going to Spurs: Frank not even been appointed yet.
7
08 Jun 2025 20:52:30
Maybe a bit of briefing by Brentford to up the Mbeumo fee.
2
09 Jun 2025 07:28:57
Whilst I hope he comes to us, at to laugh at the remark if he chooses spurs over us with our history…. l. l. Seriously you said that with a straight face then next minute your ranting about the last 10-15 years of history under the Glazers and the S*** show that’s been going on for as long and expect an overseas player to look back at when we used to win things……modern history like last season spurs won more then us! Absolutely ridiculous statement you made.
1
09 Jun 2025 19:57:04
Jeez German just mix it up a little bit. Not every message needs to be a polemic.
5
10 Jun 2025 08:49:05
Mbeumo would be about as perfect a signing as we could make this summer, personally I think he suits us better than Cunha (although I still think Cunha is a great signing) .
However, if he moves elsewhere then so be it. Either he wants to join us or he doesn't. What we need more than great players is players with the right attitude who want to be here with us and succeed with us.
4
10 Jun 2025 17:55:39
German
If that was aimed at me, I recall we could sign good players in the seventies and eighties before SAF. The red shirt means something even when we are in the doldrums. Yes our history.
2
10 Jun 2025 19:37:40
Yes we could and maybe you could remind me of what we won then and also good players don’t cut it no more United need great players to get back anywhere near the top, the EPL is full of good players as is the championship, it’s great players that make a difference
We have most of a squad of good ish players…… that’s not good enough in 2025.
0
11 Jun 2025 19:47:27
Wallace, he turned down champions league football to choose you? lollllllllllllllllllllllllllll.
0
07 Jun 2025 16:16:01
This won't come as any surprise to anybody, but Romano confirmed today that Garnacho is leaving United. Agreed by the club and player.
Apparently 3 premier league teams are interested.
Knowing United they'll probably sell him for about £20 and a packet of crisps.
0
07 Jun 2025 16:59:39
Hopefully Leverkusen decide to spend the Wirtz money on him…
But ultimately I can see him going to Spain or Italy: Atletico, Barcelona or Napoli.
0
07 Jun 2025 17:20:06
I reckon Chelsea will go for him. They seem to like stock piling young players.
0
08 Jun 2025 02:56:43
I wonder if there will still be leaks of team news when he's gone. 🤔.
2
08 Jun 2025 09:58:06
I think the fact his brother went straight to the press because he was dropped for the final tells you everything you need to know. Amorim gave him the chance dropping him against City to fight for his place and show he had the attitude and he did it but then slipped back into the same old nonsense. A year ago it would seem crazy to sell him, now it feels like the correct decision. If he couldn’t get into the starting line up in the cup final he definitely isn’t going to be in a team with Cunha and Mbeumo in there so he needs to go.
11
08 Jun 2025 20:47:34
Is it a pack of marmite crisps?
0
10 Jun 2025 08:53:08
Let's be serious, we currently have Amad and Bruno who should start ahead of him in the inside forward/ wide 10 position, we have now signed Cunha and look to be signing Mbeumo as well. Making Garnacho 5th choice in the only position he can realistically play in Amorim's system. This is during a season where we have fewer games due to not being in Europe.
We also have Mainoo, Mount and Zirkzee who can all play in that position if needed.
We have far too much quality in that position to live with the downsides of keeping Garnacho (not quite the right fit, too wasteful, poor attitude, and leaks dressing room information) .
Sell him and reinvest the money in the squad.
