Whispers are that there has been a meeting today in which the club have defined a style of play which they have told the head coach he is required to play. That is a formation 433.
Who knows if true but if true it's a watershed moment, the club setting a direction is one point but what does it mean if they replace RA? Will the new incumbent be told to play 433? Does it rule out Glasner? Will RA resign if told how to play? Is any of this true?
Rumour site so there you go.

I can't imagine it's true, it would be a ridiculously dangerous and stupid thing to do.
It's one thing to say the team needs to play a front foot, attacking style of play. And completely another to dictate to a coach/ manager what formation the team have to play. What next which players have to start?
You hire a manager to manage the team, it is down to them how they set their team up, ultimately they will live and die by the results they get.
We have ended up in the almighty mess we find ourselves in by having unqualified people making decisions about which they know very little, certainly not their area of expertise. It would be a shame after all the good work rebuilding the club structure behind the scenes only to start repeating the mistakes of the past.

{Ed025's Note - "it would be a shame after all the good work rebuilding the club structure" ?...when did that good work actually happen Shappy...i must have missed that..

Interview with Glasner where he speaks about playing the formation he thinks best suits his players. 4-4-2 is his favourite but that doesn’t suit his players at Palace. Speaks very well about formation.

29 Sep 2025 21:38:40
It sounds plausible.
INEOS came in very strong with Game Model and committing to the club having an identity and style down to youth teams. That went quite with Amorim and the youth have remained successful without 3421.
It makes a lot of sense and means the players signed are for the club not the coach.
Shappy you’re coming across like a contrarian. What Redman says makes aligns with how many clubs operate.
2
30 Sep 2025 06:42:03
they would be incompetent if they allow this to continue. amorim is a fraud with nice words. get rid.
1
30 Sep 2025 08:53:35
Guessing you’ve seen the post from IndyKaila News on X.
Let’s hope he changes to a 433 but, given Amorim said he wouldn’t even change for the Pope, seems highly unlikely.
Results must improve though, otherwise his exit will be inevitable.

30 Sep 2025 09:24:18
Personally it feels like the narrative surrounding Amorim has changed, and a new manager will be in place soon. I have a feeling Liverpool will be his last game with a new manager starting after that as there is a decent run of games until new year.
1
30 Sep 2025 14:33:17
It feels like there is growing downward pressure on Amorim. While the directors will be reluctant to sack him, and admit they made a huge mistake, they also realise that things can’t continue like this. I wouldn’t be surprised to see interference with coaching decisions, or strong nudges towards a different play style.
However, if Amorim has proven anything, it’s that he’s stubbornly committed to playing his way. It might be a case that he would rather resign than change. But being a head coach, there is also scope for the directors to force his hand. Will be interesting to see how this eventually plays out. Regardless, I can’t see him still in the job by the end of the year.

Southgate rumours have begun. 🤦🏼♂️.
4
28 Sep 2025 13:26:51
I don't want Southgate anywhere near the club, but I can't help but know deep down that he would of got results for us with this team.
6
28 Sep 2025 16:55:39
Not a fan either -but he would come in insist on 2 big centre halves, 2 decent full backs,3 in midfield. maybe 4-4-2 . but we would be a lot more solid and maybe start to look like a well coached team. At this point i'm just Amorim out full stop.
3
28 Sep 2025 20:32:49
Southgate's only relevant experience is the Premier League where his record reads: got Middlesborough relegated.
We will go down if we appoint Southgate. Regardless what the Atomic Kitten song said he really isn't the one.
4
28 Sep 2025 23:05:29
He would probably put his hands round the shoulders of the players and maybe get a better spirit and short term might see an improvement in results but I don't think he is an elite manager who would get us back the top. Let's take the pain now to get to a brighter future.
2
{Ed025's Note - maybe he should put his hands around their necks Salford?..
6
28 Sep 2025 23:33:54
I’d rather give it back to OGS for a go over Southgate.
2
29 Sep 2025 07:51:32
And have us see Maguire start every game? Along with Shaw? No thanks.
2
29 Sep 2025 11:26:18
How’s it any different to now Trumours?
1
29 Sep 2025 13:24:29
Eric79 I think that's exactly the point. So many people are fixated with formation. The issue is the personnel being chosen. Against Brentford we played 5 players that I would say are either not good enough or just not ready - Bayindir, Maguire, Dalot, Dorgu and Ugarte. That's almost half the team. We can get away with one off games where those players play, or even where just one or two of those are playing. The issue is that when we need a lift in our play, those players are just not good enough. Amorim really made a huge mistake with that line up. But he compounded it by not making a change.
3
29 Sep 2025 14:43:25
Also Glasner interview, not sure of details but think in German rag. (Not drag) . Although still not sure it’s the best long term if it changes focus away from the leadership team.

The global talent search continues.
Cristian Orozco, a very highly rated 17 year old defensive midfielder who plays for Fortaleza, in Colombia has signed a pre contract agreement and will become a United player when he turns 18, next July. A deal similar to that of Diego Leon who signed last summer.
He recently captained his country to the final at the South American U17 Championships, but were beaten by Brazil.
This drive for worldwide talent is being led by Jason Wilcox and Head of Recruitment Christopher Vivell who discovers the talent.
Even if all these signings don't become first team regulars it is hoped that a pool of talent will be created and sold to help finance new signings.
A very solid business strategy, if successful!

Over the last decade we have spent over a billion on players most of which haven't even come close to being value for money. Huge fees, huge wages and underwhelming performances.
Many of these players we have ended up stuck with after they've flopped as no other clubs are willing to match their wages.
I'm not saying we shouldn't spend big on some signings, but we need a more balanced approach.
I really like the idea of scouting the world for the best young talent at academy level and looking to bring them into the club.
The signings of Sekou Kone, Ayyden Heaven, Chido Obi, Diego Leon, and Enzo Kana-Biyik have all happened under the new ownership. If even one of them becomes a regular first team player then that represents the best investment in players our club have made in over a decade. With the club having spent only a few million in total to bring them ALL into the club. While their low wages and high potential means even the ones who ultimately don't make it, we will still be able to sell them for a profit.
We have actually seen this model used at our club before the INEOS take over. We signed young players like Hannibal, Kambwala, Alvaro Fernandez, Harry Amass, Toby Collyer, the Fletcher twins, and Garnacho from other academies both in England and abroad, with us selling Hannibal, Kambwala, Fernandez, and Garnacho all for a profit. If Amass and Collyer don't make it to the level we need, then no doubt they will also sell for far more than we paid to bring them in.
With the tighter financial regulations in football this has to be seen as a sensible way to run the club both from a financial perspective and a footballing one.
It allows us to bring in some of the best young talents from around the world, players who maybe initially flit between the under 21's and the first team while they settle, they may even go out on a loan or two (look at the new role for Jonny Evans), or provide squad depth for the first team. Quality depth, who aren't being paid a fortune, and who are happier to be a rotation option.
If they take their chances then they become first team regulars, if not then after a 2-3 years we sell them at a profit and reinvest that money into the first team squad.
If every year we spend 3-5m on a handful of young academy players, but we sell 3-5 ex-academy players for 20-50m then we are making huge profits. Occasionally we will get a first team regular out of it, or maybe a player like Garnacho who has talent but isn't the right fit for us who we can sell for a huge fee on their own.
Over the past decade our best value for money transfers haven't been brought into the club through the front door with the big fanfare, but quietly slipped in through the backdoor into the academy before flourishing into the first team.
It's not the only approach we should look to do, but definitely an important one that we can and should be exploiting far more.

I was confused when INEOS were banging on about this, this was United’s transfer policy for years under Fergie.
We all remember the famous remarks he made about no value in the market and then some random 20year old would turn up from some unheard of country and not last long, or be shipped off to Antwerp. Occasionally he would get one big spend like a Berbatov, van Perise or a Cole.
It wasn’t until Fergie retired that the Glazers started throwing money at the problem, obviously not their money, and it hasn’t really created a stable side and long term success.
2
27 Sep 2025 18:08:53
Global search for a decent manager would be a good start….
Then get the club all teams to play same way under that managers direction.
What we got now is just bordering on insanity, if this kid is special talent, he leaves, that’s 100%.

Just emerged this apparently 😂.

Couple of days ago it was reported that FdJ has agreed a new contract with Barce until 2029 on reduced wages.
Given his known desire to stay at Camp Nou, on a scale of nought to a thousand on the credibility scale I would struggle to give this rumour a score of more than 2.
2
26 Sep 2025 18:21:35
The modern day Wesley Sneijder.
3
27 Sep 2025 09:53:15
Some transfer rumours are like a boomerang, quickly thrown out there but will soon return.
With the position our clubs holds in the world we get linked to far more than most clubs as it garners more attention. Often linked to a player who is negotiating a new deal, no doubt the media have found this information via the players agent or intermediaries. While other times our name is linked to a player who is looking for a move and they want to broadcast that to as many clubs as possible, so being linked to Manchester United makes more people sit up and pay attention to them. Then there are the quiet news week links, when there isn't much to report so the same name gets dragged up and reprinted as being of "interest" to Manchester United. It's just a throw away article designed as click bait.
Be that Strootman, Sneijder, Gaitan, or now Frenkie de Jong. Apparently we have something for Dutch players 😂.

Arriving with Strootman and Gaitan.

My friends, even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream.
It is a dream deeply rooted in the United dream.
I have a dream that one day this team will rise up and live out the true meaning of 3-4-3.
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of the Trafford Centre, former players and the sons of former players will be able to sit down together at the table, and not have to criticise the team to earn a living.
I have a dream that my two children will finally see Wesley Sneijder grace the hallowed turf at Old Trafford, that Sesko will score a goal, and that we will at last have a goalkeeper who doesn’t create panic whenever the ball is near them. I have a dream.

Amass of on loan to Sheffield Wednesday.
Quite a clear out of permanent and loan deals.
6
02 Sep 2025 20:53:06
He will hand plenty of defending to do. Good experience for him. Hope he plays regularly. i'm sure he will as they are short of good players. They were big club with lots of good players at one time. I really hope they find a way out of the mess they are in.
4
03 Sep 2025 08:07:31
Where we loan we need to ensure as much as possible they will be first choice and will play regularly. Apparently United are paying his salary and expenses. Wednesday are a historic club, been to Hillsbrough a number of times and it will be a good experience for Amass.
3
03 Sep 2025 08:33:38
Both Amass and Collyer have got good loan moves this summer. Now it is up to them.
4
03 Sep 2025 18:54:56
Class gesture too.
3
04 Sep 2025 21:23:31
Totally Key. We’re quick to jump in on Ineos about every penny pinching measure they’ve taken, but this is very cool.
3
09 Sep 2025 07:43:08
it baffles me we kept him and let the spanish boy go who now plays for madrid.
2
09 Sep 2025 22:51:22
Amass was 16 when we let 20 year old Alvaro go, the 2 aren’t linked at all.
3
09 Sep 2025 22:56:45
I think every single transfer decision we’ve made since Fergie left and this new team have come in has been baffling. Bruno is our only sensible transfer during this period of time.
1
10 Sep 2025 16:56:49
GDS2 your right ones a top player and the other won't even be a prem player, well done great decision.
2
12 Sep 2025 08:32:32
I posted relentlessly on here about how good Alvaro could be and the ridiculous decision to let Alvaro leave when we had no left back. ETH should have been sacked just for that . Very few supported what I said about Alvaro. I watched him play for Preston a few times and you could see the potential. ETH was an utter disgrace on this and other decisions. I am pleased RA has been putting some right but the boy Alvaro was a shocking decision.

Welcome to Manchester United Senne Lammens.
8
01 Sep 2025 12:13:28
Haven’t seen much of him but he has to be levels above what we already have. Just hope the manager has faith and puts him in straight away.
8
01 Sep 2025 12:41:06
Hopefully we’ve gone for the right keeper. I think we’ll see Byandir off to Turkey now?
3
01 Sep 2025 12:41:10
I'm nervous about this one. I was lambasted here for suggesting that if this guy is supposed to be an understudy this year and potentially challenge for a starting position, then it'd be better to just loan him somewhere to prepare him better for the EPL. However, given how awful the current options have been this year, he is now clearly coming in as a starter. I'm really not sure he is ready. I hope he is. But it's a risk.
10
01 Sep 2025 12:47:54
It’s clear the lad will be thrown straight in at the deep end. Let’s just hope he knows how to swim.
9
01 Sep 2025 13:08:03
I think Onana stays and they fight it out for No1 spot.
1
01 Sep 2025 13:08:20
risky signing coming to a huge club - would push now for martinez on a season long loan just in case.
5
01 Sep 2025 13:32:20
I think Onana stays because nobody would take him on loan, even if we paid all his wages, and gave them a few million.
5
01 Sep 2025 13:43:44
The Saudis will probably take him, Danny. With any luck, he’ll realize that his goose is cooked at United and agree to move out there.
3
01 Sep 2025 14:39:51
Its a WC next summer, if Onana doesn't play he won't be picked. It it AFCON this December aswell.
3
01 Sep 2025 14:45:57
I agree with DonRed here, this is yet another high risk approach, when we could have had a world class pre. ier league proven keeper.
Im entering fairytale land here and desperately hoping that Onana panics and accepts a Saudi move in the next 3 hours and we grab Martinez aswell.
I don't like this when we know we absolutely need a world class mentality monster. Its a big risk compared to Martinez.
3
01 Sep 2025 15:10:29
I just hope he is more reliable and gives confidence to those Infront of him. If he is able to do that, he is as good as 15 goals.
4
01 Sep 2025 20:09:27
He is the perfect profile for how we set up.
Throw him in, we've signed players before from other lesser known leagues and they've been superstars for us.
I expect him to make some mistakes, keepers always do, but I expect them to be few and far between compared to the points he saves us from said mistakes being infrequent.
I do hope that his first mistake is not for a few games though, otherwise the media and a small section of the fanbase will be down his neck.
6
01 Sep 2025 21:41:19
Jimbo, I've no idea what he's like, never seen him play.
I just hope, like you said, if and when the mistake comes, he has enough in the bank to know he's a top GK.
Make no mistake, it is the hardest position in the premier league. GK at man united takes a lot of balls.
I'm not Martinez's biggest fan, but he would most definitely have had the courage to be him.
2
02 Sep 2025 10:59:16
He’s a young lad that cost 18m I’d be astonished if he hasn’t a mistake in him. The best in the world have. Our new recruitment team are in a different league to the last one and I have much more faith in him being the right long term keeper for us. Really hope it goes well for him And hopefully everyone gets behind him.
3
02 Sep 2025 21:32:04
He has all the attributes to be a top keeper. In some ways following Onana makes it easier for him. He's allowed the odd mistake just not 2 a game.
3
01 Sep 2025 10:29:34
Antony and Sancho gone too. Relief i am sure within the dressing room and fanbase alike. Hopefully a GK and MF come along today.
10
01 Sep 2025 11:34:26
Sadly, Sancho will be back again next season, and we’ll be faced with the exact same problem. Better than keeping him here for the next twelve months though.
4
01 Sep 2025 11:44:53
It’s the last year of his contract, we have the option to extend a year to try and get some money back, but is it worth it?
2
01 Sep 2025 11:46:08
His contract is up next summer, with a club option to extend. Thankfully, this will be the end of the whole silly business with him.
3
01 Sep 2025 11:56:38
Apparently, we will extend his contract as part of the deal to loan him out in the hopes of recouping some of our losses next year. I have a feeling it will just end up costing us more when we have to pay half of his wages again the following season when he buggers off on loan again on deadline day.
2
01 Sep 2025 12:07:57
This is the best result we could get given they're paying a decent loan fee for the year and we don't have his wages to pay.
The option to trigger a contract extension runs until the end of January 26, by which time we will be able to see if he is pulling trees up. If he's doing great, then we can say to Villa and Snatcho (our pet name from the vile clown) okay well, we could extend of a year and complicated things so how about you pay us a fee now to sign the player permanently, otherwise as he's having a renaissance we will extend for a year and flog him elsewhere.
The important thing is he is gone. And we have 10m float in wages and a few million loan fee. Whilst notnincurring a PSR loss either.
3
01 Sep 2025 12:29:52
Whatever happens, him not being at the club this season can only be a good thing. One of our worst ever signings.
8
03 Sep 2025 07:40:28
worst player in 50 years. absolute winker.
1
01 Sep 2025 06:45:00
Ornstein reporting Betis have agreed to sign Antony for £22m plus 50% sell on. No payoff on wages. Well done to the club for not caving on this after the stunt they pulled. Another Pratt gone. sancho please!
9
01 Sep 2025 07:47:54
Celebrations galore as it turns out Betis did have the money but were trying it on.
Is this the most satisfying deal of the transfer window, or will it be Sancho going to Villa for a something similar
And then Malacia, not heard much but I suspect he will go, then if we sign a GK, which of our GK will move on?
Busy day of outgoings.
6
01 Sep 2025 12:30:14
Glad we stood our ground.
4
01 Sep 2025 15:13:50
Tim why is he a prat.
I don't think he was good enough, but I never seen him not trying or giving his best.
Not his fault to be honest.
4
31 Aug 2025 17:43:57
Apparently we have a delegation in Germany to complete the signing of Angel Stiller.
3
31 Aug 2025 18:40:48
He nose his way around a football pitch. Too soon?
3
31 Aug 2025 18:56:00
They might have to Rush to get it done ;)
3
31 Aug 2025 18:58:34
Stiller and Martinez on deadline day sounds okay.
4
31 Aug 2025 19:44:43
We don't need another goalkeeper who's a moron and thinks he's better than he is. I think Martinez is better than what we currently have but I'm not keen on the deal especially when villa's replacements are people we've looked at/ have looked at in Senne Lammens and Diogo Costa.
5
31 Aug 2025 20:20:07
Diogo Costa for me villa would be getting a far better deal if we take Martinez and they get Costa.
4
31 Aug 2025 23:32:54
We are desperate for a keeper that can come in immediately and improve us, if we signed Lammens and his first 2 games are city away and Chelsea at home the press will kill him before he’s even started. I’d like to see both signed but seems unlikely as we can’t get rid of the 2 clowns.
3
01 Sep 2025 06:23:26
Dbrooks being a character doesn't make him a moron. A World Cup winner and FIFA keeper of the year means he can think of himself as he likes. The fact is he is streets ahead of what we have and having a character like him in the dressing room and in the defence will only help us.
7
01 Sep 2025 07:51:55
Yes, he can be annoying, a fool and makes stupid mistakes which will now be amplified in the media beyond any other goalkeeper, but I think he can deal with that.
But he has the experience and will improve the position. Not ideal but a decent stop gap for a couple of years.
2
29 Aug 2025 21:50:05
Looks like a deal for Antony is done for £21m + 50% sell on clause.
Maybe the best we could get with him adamant that he only wanted Betis.
Not sure whether we are at risk PSR wise but assume we take a hit for selling below the amount still on the books.
With this deal, Garnacho and Hojlund I wonder if we are trying to get in as much as possible to make a late midfielder push on top of the keeper Lemmens.
1
29 Aug 2025 22:24:22
Brad, there has to be a push for a cm.
7
29 Aug 2025 22:26:13
Deal being reported to collapse due to Anthony's demands can't make this up spent all summer saying only wants betis to then potentially collapse the move.
3
30 Aug 2025 01:58:16
Let him rot. This was clearly their plan all along.
9
30 Aug 2025 06:54:52
Looks like he waited till the last minute then demanded United pay the remainder of his salary, United refused and Betis decided to walk away.
Someone said we set a precedent with this on AWB contract, not sure if that is true.
1
30 Aug 2025 09:21:20
Let him rot in the reserves. Anthony only wanted Betis. Now he decides to play hardball. I'd tell him that the club will no longer negotiate a sale for the player and that he will have to wait until next summer.
It's a WC year, if you were serious about playing football you'd want to move to a club to fight for a place the the WC squad.
7
30 Aug 2025 09:40:16
That’s what happens when you have idiots on changed that give big contracts to average players
Just like with sancho and rashfird
These players will run their contracts down unless it’s a loan move
More problems at the club than just what’s being delivered on the pitch still.
5
30 Aug 2025 09:44:56
Turkey on loan or Saudi beckons if he doesn't lower his demands.
These players are taking bback control and are refusing what they don't want.
Its a real conundrum.
Easy to stay stick him in the reserves but there are unintended consequences by doing that. Such as buying a keeper or midfielder.
4
30 Aug 2025 10:20:41
Looks like another year of trying to reverse the reputation we have got as a club when it comes to selling. I genuinely believe we need to be strong on this one and all transfers out otherwise the cycle continues. Betis are chancers, Anthony is a chancer (which I’m surprised at actually as he’s appeared to have been quiet and not rocking the boat) . The fact it’s World Cup year gives us some leverage, Anthony isn’t in the next Brazil squad, Garnacho wasn’t in the Argentinian squad. I read yesterday United have supposedly said to Sancho they’d activate his year extension if he doesn’t accept some of these offers. Yes he’s on a big contract so may not be fussed but if he has an ounce of pride in his football he’ll want out and playing. I like the hardball approach, I thought maybe we were past this but if it takes another season and prevents us buying a CM or GK in next couple of days then let’s ride it out for longer term success in the market and set the market down for players and future buying clubs.
5
30 Aug 2025 11:38:00
I mean, it's a complete mess, a mess started by the predecessors at the club and carried on by the incumbents. It only really changes when players bought are not on such ridiculous wages. The problem was caused by the club and has to be fixed by the club.
As much as I don't want Sancho, Antony etc around, they are well within their rights to protect their earnings whatever we think about them personally.
They were given terms, signed them, and now they want what they signed. It's very admirable that Rashford has significantly lowered his demands to play but not everyone has to do that.
I certainly would not do it for my employers.
1
30 Aug 2025 12:51:29
Sancho? Pride? The lad would sell his own mother for a bag of cheesy Doritos and a chance to play the next FIFA game a few days early.

That's not the point angelred. Antony tried to engineer a move that was completely unfavourable to the club. He did so by gambling that the club would be financially constrained into accepting anything for him. It's dishonest and it has eroded any goodwill there was for him.

"The Player agrees to conduct themselves at all times in a professional and responsible manner, adhering to the club’s Code of Conduct, both during and outside of official match times, training sessions, and public events. "
This would also be a typical clause if you like in any players contract so yes they maybe entitled to what they believe they’re owed but they also have a responsibility when contracted to the club so the club are well within their rights to now bow down to the players demands to leave or the buying clubs wants. If Anthony wants to leave for Betis, put in a transfer request, same with Sancho, but we all know why they won’t.

Sancho clearly has mental health challenges, so not sure we’ll see a logical outcome for him.
As for Antony, he needs to go. Not good enough for the Premier League, but a decent player in the right team and league. Just leave and be happy. Sadly, players like him will be bitter and blame the club Esther than themselves, as most pro footballers are nothing more than overgrown children, so will seeking his pot of good before leaving.

So Antony tried to engineer a move? Or he was told he wasn't needed by the club?
Because if it's the latter (which it is by the way) he is more than entitled to get what is owed to him.
Ports, both players were told they haven't a future at the club, not training with the team etc. so you just want them to say, thanks very much, I'll leave you with the millions you owe me 😂 do ye lads live in the real world or what? 😂
Eric? Mental health challenges? What sort of 💩 is that? Leave off.

Owe him? How come? He can get that money, if he stays at the club. But then, he might miss on the WC and also he will lose out on his next contract, since he won't be playing. It is not that easy angelred.
