A little confused by Ole's stance re Sanchez. Less than two weeks ago he was telling journalists that they would be surprised with how much he features this season and today he announces that the club are still actively trying to get rid of him. He needs to learn that sometimes it's best to say nothing.

Believable0 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation - it is about money and finding a taker. If that happens then he goes - but the club has to have the stomach to take a significant loss and his wages stay on the books. Ignore what OGS says.}

23 Aug 2019 20:54:49
Redseven ole is full of crap in his press conferences. All managers are.
You could pick holes in any of their statements as they often contradict themselves week after week. In fact they often do it in the same conference.
Ignore the lot of them. Its all BS lapped up by the gullible.

Let's give Sanchez a chance. He had a rubbish season last year but maybe I'd we get behind him he might turn things around. Let's be honest he was a really good player at Arsenal and most of us were delighted when he signed.

16 Aug 2019 07:24:01
Salford what has he done in a United shirt to warrant another chance?

Jesse is ahead of him and now arguably James and Greenwood too. James has already achieved 33% of what Sanchez has achieved. Difference is James did it in 20 minutes whereas Sanchez has had 18 months.

If he was serious about turning things around at United he should’ve pulled out of that international tournament to focus on his fitness and getting ready to claim his place in the team. But instead he came back injured and still isn’t match fit. You can’t keep giving chances to someone who isn’t willing to make it work for himself.

18 Aug 2019 15:08:18
@midfield_maestro
The proposed agreement apparently consists of a loan move for 1 year and option to buy next season set at 15m. While on loan, United will have to pay part of Sanchez salary.
Depends a lot on the amount.

Agree0 0Disagree

18 Aug 2019 20:00:50
How about they take him for free now with no £15m to pay next year. We don't pay any more wages and throw Rojo and Darmian in for free. Everyones a winner.

Agree7 0Disagree

19 Aug 2019 10:49:58
If we've got to pay some of his wages he should stay and knuckle down. Paying anything for a player to play for someone else is just a joke if you ask me.

Agree2 0Disagree

19 Aug 2019 13:13:37
Why is that Damon? We gave Sanchez a massive contract.

It makes financial sense to subsidise some of the wages if the player moves, as the club he pays for is paying a portion of the wages and we are no longer left with the burden of 100% of his salary.

It also gets him away from the first team so we've not got a miserable player dragging others down.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 Aug 2019 16:04:27
Exactly. If he's having rows with people in training that's going to affect the atmosphere. Its best he goes. Hopefully he impresses enough for them to take up the option.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 Aug 2019 16:27:50
Well if a player isn't playing for our club and for another team they should be paying his wages. Just shows how bad the club is run to pay ridiculous wages in the first place. hasn't Sanchez had his wages cut by 25% like everybody else? It does seem now though this summer we've taken a different approach and walked away from stupid deals.

Agree0 0Disagree

20 Aug 2019 12:13:05
It's not as simple as that Damon. Sanchez has every right to see out the remaining years of his contract on full pay. If we can offload him, and negotiate a deal which costs the club less in the long term, that surely makes more sense than keeping a player on full salary who has no impact on the team.

15 Aug 2019 12:03:25
I think the 27m + James Rodriguez bid proved how little an appetite Real Madrid had for seriously pursuing Pogba.

The fact that they are now seriously exploring a deal for Neymar shows that the money is there if they really want a player. I think it also shows that the manager doesn't dictate the signings at Real Madrid.
In which case does it really matter how much Zidane wants Pogba, if other people at the club don't want him then he won't go there.

I think this summer was his real chance to go to Real Madrid. I think he might have missed it, unless he has a storming season this year and proves himself to be a "Galactico".

Agree2 0Disagree

15 Aug 2019 12:43:31

Seen a few reports that Rojo's agent is at the training ground trying to arrange some sort of deal.
Also that Ole is possibly going to relegate Sanchez to the Reserves. Also reports that Ole really wants him gone from any influence on younger players even it means him going out on loan (Roma still interested) with us paying part of wages. Not ideal, but personally I think the time has come.
This may may well be a load of mushroom compost, but I thought I.

14 Aug 2019 17:06:03
I hope it is true as it sends a message through the squad. The rumour is we are offering to pay some of his wages but still nobody wants him, even on loan.

We also need DDG to sign a contract to follow up Marrial and Rashford doing so.

Agree2 0Disagree

14 Aug 2019 17:34:29
I want him as far away from the club as possible, he is done and dusted, has offered nothing so far, how the heck did the club get into this situation idk, some people here don't think Ole has what it takes to make it but if he gets rid of Rojo, Sanchez and have us playing very entertaining footy, he may well be the one who takes us back to challening, early days but i do like how he is setting the team to play and our average age, that's very important most of these players will flourish in 2,3 years.

Why is the narrative that we were "lucky" because Chelsea hit the post/ bar twice?

If we hit the post those same people would be call us unlucky. They would say it was a poor shot.

Why is a shot that hits the woodwork called unlucky while a shot that whistles just past the post is considered a shot off target therefore a poor shot?

If your shot isn't saved by the keeper and it doesn't go in then you missed. It doesn't matter if you missed by a yard or by a kick of paint. A miss is a miss.

We hit the woodwork 14 times last season, had all those shots gone in we would have won and extra 7 points and qualified for the UCL.

So we're we unlucky to not finish fourth or did we miss vital chances? It can't be one rule for us and another for our opponents.

Not saying you were lucky you won. I think most people would agree with me on that.
What I am saying is that the 4-0 flatters United as you struggled to create much of note, and with better finishing from us the match could've been a lot different. We didn't take our chances, and you guys did. That was the difference.

The unlucky part for us fans is that for all of our inexperience on (and off) the pitch, we were ultimately let down by our most experienced guy on the pitch. Azpi switched off twice, for your 2nd and 3rd goals. That was the real shame, for me at least.

You deserved to win as you took the chances you got. We didn't as we didn't finish ours. Simple as.

13 Aug 2019 08:28:56
Spot on that Shappy.

Jackson, "with better finishing from us the match could've been a lot different" and in other news if my Mum was male she'd be my Dad.

We were clinical, we took the chances that came our way. It's that simple. You can be lucky in the odd game winning by 1-0 but if you win 4-0 you fully deserve it, which I know you have already stated but some of the posts on the Chelsea page are laughable mate.

Agree1 0Disagree

{Ed0333's Note - I don’t concur mate I thought Chelsea were wasteful and should of been 2 up before you scored. That wasn’t anywhere near a vintage performance from you’re lot and if you'd have played City, Liverpool, Spurs on that form you’d have been soundly dealt with. I didn’t see anything from United that worried me but I agree you did make the most of you’re chances.

13 Aug 2019 09:09:12
Okay, so I don't speak for most other Chelsea fans on these pages at least :p

But on other platforms most echo my sentiments. We were wasteful and defensive transition was bad. You were clinical indeed. That's mostly story of the match.

13 Aug 2019 12:23:13
@Jackson

I pretty much agree with your assessment. I think we were lucky to lead at Halftime. But the 2nd half i think tactically we were spot on and deserved to win based on converting our chances.

Good Luck for rest of the season mate.

13 Aug 2019 12:26:27
Shappy, given the scoreline we can't say that we were lucky to win it but you can't deny that we were certainly lucky not to concede. De Gea was beaten twice and had to rely on prayers that the ball not deviate inside of the post.

Last season, away at Barca, Rashford went through on goal in the opening minutes and hit the bar.

I genuinely believe that had that gone in we would have beat Barca. We had them on the ropes in the first leg, we were all over them and their defence was in bits.

But that didn't happen, we made silly mistakes at the back and Barcelona were clinical. After the game we were pummelled by the press.

The main difference being, Barcelona were applauded for their performance in winning 3-0, whereas we apparently got lucky against Chelsea winning 4-0.

13 Aug 2019 16:42:04
If so, if that. If it was against Liverpool/ Spurs we would struggle, if Chelsea scored from their changes, then we would struggle. We would never know. The fact is, it was Chelsea, we scored from the chances we got, and won the game.

We didn't stop after 2-0 or 3-0 and kept going for more. There were a lot of positives about the way the team went about it in the 2nd half.

Agree2 0Disagree

13 Aug 2019 19:51:17
My point is we scored 4, luck doesn't come into it when you score 4 unanswered goals. Yes Chelsea were wasteful and yes Dave saved a few but Chelsea not finishing isn't our problem and isn't your keeper supposed to make saves?

I thought Pogba was poor all game but then there are glimpses of the player you know he is, the ball for Rash over the top and the drive through midfield to set up DJ typifies him. For me he will worry teams and cause problems.

In Rash, Martial and Jesse we have players with pace who can run in behind and run the channels, this will also cause teams problems. I actually think we will be better suited to play against teams Like City, Liverpool and Spurs etc. Teams that will have a go and press high giving the pacey front 3 chance to stretch them at the other end, that's where Pogba will be very important for us with his vision, It's imperative he is motivated and he stays until replaced if we want to be top 4.

As for teams that will defend in compact blocks (that's where we will struggle) I think Maguire will become essential in bringing the ball out from the back and creating an overload in the middle. Can we break them down?

I thought we were poor at the back, great individually but we didn't defend well as a team, partly because Shaw was doubled up on for most of the game with Rash not really tracking back but I do think that will come.

City- I thought were phenomenal and are the team to beat again.

Liverpool- While good I thought Norwich created a few good chances, I have a feeling they can be got at this year. It's whether or not teams can outscore them.

Spurs- I thought ran out of ideas until Eriksen came on, he's important for them.

Arsenal- I really didn't see anything much from them, I thought Newcastle were always in the game (who looked very poor themselves) Auba is excellent and does what he always does.

All in all I'm excited, I'm enjoying watching us again which is amazing. I even got my Mrs cheering us on! I think we will surprise a few this year. I don't think we will be as far away as last year :)

Chelsea got done. Simple as that. Looking for ‘what ifs’ is just a waste of time. Going into a game against Liverpool tonight they need to think about team selection rather than hitting woodwork. Quick tip: play Kante in CDM. Simple. That centre back pairing was not up to it.

I have been very negative about this transfer window. Maybe because of all the hype about how this window would be the most important.

Well! The window was not good enough but i am still excited about the season. Although i think we are putting too much serious pressure on youth and being very reliant on them, i hope they come out very strong and give their best performance. I hope we suffer minor to no injuries as we are very light. It would be great.

If Ole is able to instil his attacking, high pressing game play and this team does not become a victim of fatigue then we may well finish inside the top 4.

Hoping all the best for the new season and hoping for a good performance and a win tomorrow.

I think Garner, whilst not maybe providing the excitement of an attacker like Greenwood, might be the one who makes it to the very top. Lots of times people throw double standards around, yet at the same time suggest giving OGS more time than the last three managers. Why is that? The emotional sentimentality of a playing legend being in charge. But that isn’t double standards of course, its just because they love Ole. He is a legend to me, but a playing legend who has done nothing to deserve the managerial position. I doubt they would have appointed him if they had waited to the end of the season and the relegation form that was on display. He should be judged the same as the other managers were.

Today, I support the team as I always have, wish I could be there like I was for decades but I can’t. Get behind the team, wear green and gold and what will be will be, like we sang in 77.

Mort

My position on the strategic issues with the owners, the debt, the structure of the club has been aired on here regularly. The lack of success isn’t just down to the manager, we had one of the best in Mourinho yet they didn’t support him (and it cost us £20m more to sign Maguire a year later) and if he couldn’t succeed it tells you something is inherently wrong. However, that doesn’t make the present manager the right one. However he is in place so we support the team and get on with it.

Agree1 0Disagree

11 Aug 2019 11:52:31
Give him more time than the last three managers? Who's been saying that? I think the general consensus is, like with all managers, a bare minimum of two transfer windows at the very least is required. Haven't seen anyone say he deserves more than Jose got. But I have seen a couple on here want him gone before a ball was kicked.

Well! Then why were the team in continuous negotiation for Dybala and Mandzukic?

Another lame excuse for failed window. I mean which team looking to improve on climb the table sells their best proven goal scorer, second best and most hardworking midfielder and replaces with no one.

It would have been far better to see the manager come out and criticise the board and his bosses wouldn't it? Would have been ideal prep for Sunday to say the day after the transfer window has closed to say he's really not happy with the squad he has.

Undoubtedly things are hardly in perfect working order behind the scenes at United but some of the reactions to this transfer window have been laughable.

@Srestha. "I mean which team looking to improve on climb the table sells their best proven goal scorer".

I'd hazard a guess the team that got fed up with a player who is stacking on the lard on a daily basis and has to be separated from colleagues being aggressive itching for a fight and finally fronting up to M Phelan after being late for a pre season match and missing the bus. The last incident OGS saw as the final straw. Conte is no push over and it will be interesting to see how long it is before lardy bloke falls out with him.

Even the stories suggested Juventus offered those players to us, not the other way round. Plus Dybala would have likely played as the 10, not the main striker. Making a meal from nothing. I'm glad Greenwood is getting a look in, hopefully Chong, Tuanzebe and Gomes get a few games too.

This is the diary of football as there's so many ways to interpret the game. However I’m not sure Lukaku was the best at anything and I’m delighted he’s gone as he was clearly causing trouble.

He was the best at scoring goals at the club, highest scoring attacker both seasons he played.

We have been to, d that the club was looking to replace him, but were more concerned with getting an extra few million than giving themselves enough time to do it.

Now the manager is putting pressure on a 17 year old with basically no experience at the top level by claiming he’s the replacement.
